Episode 5: Sacred Scars
You’ve mastered how to keep going… but you’ve never really talked about what it cost you.The heartbreak. The disappointment. The seasons that stretched you. You showed up, you pushed through—but it left a mark.Daughter… some things changed you.And maybe you’ve been carrying it quietly, trying to move forward without ever fully acknowledging what you’ve been through. But what if the very thing you’ve been trying to hide… is the thing God wants to use? This episode is about the scars—the ones people don’t see, but you feel. The pain, the process, and the healing you’re still walking out. Because you didn’t just survive, you were marked by it.And your scars are not signs of defeat… they’re evidence of grace.

I continue to be grateful for the support, for the kind words, and for still wanting to continue on this balance journey. This week, I am talking about BOUNDARIES! This sums it up exactly- if you are just starting with establishing boundaries or thinking that you need to set a few, this episode is for you. I'm excited to put this out there in the space. Episode 8: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Therapy
This episode was nothing of short of exhilarating- therapy has been my go to as I continue to think about this balance journey that I have not yet mastered. Long story short, if you don't have a therapist or someone that is impartial that you can engage with, find you one! Your insurance will cover it (most likely)! As I am continuing on this journey of unlearning, relearning, unknowing, and figuring it all out, therapy has been my safe space to do this amazing work! I hope you enjoy this episode- send it to someone who may absolutely need it! As always, words are what I have for you! ~Brittany

Episode 7: Balancing Absolutely Nothing
I’m excited about this episode because it truly resonates with me in terms of where I am my balance journey and if I’m honest, I am not balancing much of anything these days. It means a lot to me though to share my journey with those who even care to listen. I realize that I have not done an episode since November when I had my friendsgiving episode with my amazing cohosts. Important to note that my husband and the folks that love me the most have asked several questions around why I had not been recording and honestly I didn’t think it made sense to talk about balance when I really wasn’t balancing. This episode may feel like one of my first episodes when I still had the blog because I had no intention of actually recording an episode. I was in the car so you’ll hear all kind of background noise, and I just felt like talking and sharing what was on my heart, and I thought who better to do that with than the folks that listen to the podcast on a regular basis or for folks that will be listening for the first time. That day I was actually able to tee up about five episodes so literally it’s like when it hits me it just hits me and I’m actually glad to share this one to be transparent, to be honest, to be authentic, but more importantly be unapologetic. I hope you enjoy. The mic and good sound will be back in two weeks 😂😂.

Episode 5: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing the "Rebirth" of Brittany
What's up Triple B's- We are still on this podcast journey and I thank you all so much for being on this wild ride with me. It has truly been my pleasure to continue to dump my thoughts and to get to have intentional conversations with folks around what they are actually balancing also. I appreciate all the love and light you all send me from the podcasts! This week, I am diving into this notion of balancing the "rebirth" of Brittany. Now realistically, this is not a literal rebirth, but more of a figurative one, specifically through the lens of things that may no longer serve me and how I am actually working to balance these for myself. I was tuning into a message by my internet pastor John Hannah- and he was preaching a message about small foxes. Now I have grown up in church all my life, but I had never heard this scripture. The moral of the scripture is pretty much that it's the little things that can keep your caught up and keep you from prospering- don't be the thing that holds back your blessing. Today, listen as I examine some of my "small foxes" and how I am balancing shedding some of these things thus far. As always, words are what I have for you~Brittany

Episode 3: Just Balance with Brittany: Being my Full Self Edition
Hi Triple B's- I'm so excited for you all to listen to this week's edition of Just Balance with Brittany. This week I am diving into what it means to balance being your full self. I mean the first question is- what does it actually mean to be your full self? When I think about being my full self, I think about what it means to be physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally whole. This episode is so personal for me because I feel exposed for sharing all of these things with you- I mean more exposed than normal rather. But of course, I more than happy to share my thoughts with you all. "Being your real self is reflected in what you disclose and how you interact with others. It’s sharing your thoughts and beliefs and having the courage to expose yourself psychologically". (Psychology Today, 2021). This hit me like a ton of bricks the first time that I read it because it's so true. We also get to be our full selves when we feel psychologically safe to do so (now that's preaching right there). I'm excited to continue to lean into what I'm learning more and more about myself as well as the areas that I am still intentionally working on. As always, words are what I have for you,~Brittany

Episode 2: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing friendships with the opposite sex while married
What's up Triple B's- So this week, we are talking about balancing relationships with the opposite sex while married..............so in true fashion, I have my wonderful husband, Chad on with me for this one. This definitely used to be a sore spot for us, but man have we come a LONG WAY. I think we have learned it's largely about boundaries and open and honest communication. One of the questions that we have continued to have to ask ourselves is "what's the purpose of this friendship" and "why does it actually serve you"? In full transparency, we have walked away from a few friendships when we didn't have a good answer to this question. It's better for us to be reconciled than right (thanks Terrance and Alicia for that nugget). So today, we really dive in and have an honest conversation around how we've done this over the years- 7 years married and 12 years together. We also talk about what this means that the other person potentially gives up or not in maintaining the friendship. As always, words are what I have for you~Brittany

Episode 1: Just Balance with Brittany: Life is Life-ing Edition
What's up Triple B's- WELCOME TO SEASON 2 of the podcast!!!!!!!!! I am so excited about the podcast being back- I have missed you all so much and missed talking about this balance journey! Taking a break from the podcast did allow me to be super present with the folks that matter to me the most, and they are just as excited for me to get back to it. Today I am diving into this "life is life-ing episode" solo, but excited about it. You know I love to get out of my own head and just put everything out there- I am such a verbal processor. It's 20 minutes of me being pretty raw and authentic, but I don't really know another way to be at this time and place in my life. Balance is not something you find, it's something you create. Be good to yourself as you continue to be on this balance journey. Give yourself grace- you know the kind that you give other people. Extend that grace to YOU! As always, words are what I have for you, ~Brittany THIS IS EVERYTHING!

Episode 30: Just Balance with Brittany: One Year Down....For Now
What's up Triple B's-Can you all believe that it has been one year since I launched the first podcast, like OMG! This blog-cast has gone beyond any expectation that I could have. I am so blessed to be able to share my truth and lean in to balancing all areas of my life. I am so excited for you all to hear this week's podcast- it's an ode to the year, but also a much appreciated conversation with my favorite person on this side of heaven- my husband, Chad 🖤! Before you jump into the podcast for this week, I'd like to take a few minutes to have some individual reflections around what I have learned this year as I'm continuing to work on balance. Top 3 things I've learned about balance: It's okay to strive for balance and still miss the mark: This one is a big one because as I am working getting better with my balance journey, I don't always hit the mark. And I'm learning to forgive myself and to name "It's OKAY, GIRL!" If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again! Surround yourself with people that support your journey: Now if this ain't something, I don't know what actually is. My tribe has been so supportive on this journey for balance as I continue to ask myself the hard questions in a quest for a better me, but also as I push on them as they push on me (yep, I said what I said) on this journey. All of the things won't be in balance at the same time: I learned this the hard way for sure- as you're trying to juggle all the things, something isn't going to stay up. Prioritizing what you're balancing and understanding when to adjust it crucial in this balance journey. As always, words are what I have for you~Brittany

Episode 29: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Brittany Edition
What's up Triple B's- I know it's been a couple of weeks- life has been life-ing. I'm working, wife-ing, and parenting- honestly those three things take up most of my time and energy, but this blog/podcast also brings me so much joy. For the past year, this has been a space where I can be my best, my worst, my most authentic, and my most vulnerable self. It has been freeing to say the least to have a space/avenue where I can just say what I'm thinking and not feel the judgement from everybody else. What I love about the podcast is that it continues to give me an outlet to say the thing, and an added bonus is that sometimes I get to help someone else add some clarity to their own situations. When I launched this blog almost a year ago, I had no idea of what it would become. But I am honestly so proud of this work- it's been some of my most intimate work. As we approach the one year anniversary for the blog/podcast, I thought it would only be befitting to title this episode: Balancing Brittany. In this episode, I get to take a step back and do some really amazing reflecting, as well as setting some future intentions. I can't wait for you to listen. As always, words are what I have for you~Brittany

Episode 28: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing being your Authentic Self Part II
Triple B's- So a couple of weeks ago, I leaned into this internal conversation that I had out loud (lol) about what it meant to really balance being your authentic self. Highlights for me from this conversation with myself was really around how your authentic self continues to evolve and grow and as you get older, you just stop caring about how you're received all the time- I want to stand in my truth and be vulnerable with the people that deserve all of me honestly. So in true Just Balance with Brittany fashion, I have an amazing co-host on with me for this week's conversation. As I started thinking about authenticity, my bestie, PaTrice Hall was the first person to pop up. I mean for as long as I've known her, she has always stood in her on truth- right, wrong, indifferent, and just has already been herself unapologetically. Now, we get to have these amazing conversations all the time, but I decided to give the podcast folks just a glimpse of who we get to be as our authentic selves TOGETHER. Welcome my best friend, that's my best friend- PaTrice Hall back to the podcast. Excited to for you to hear a very transparent conversation as well as think about continuing to be our most authentic selves. As always, words are what we have for you,~Brittany

Episode 27: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing being your most authentic self
What's up Triple B's- I hope that these last couple of weeks has been treating you well. Also, HAPPY MAY! I can't believe that we have already made it to May, like the year seems to be flying. So, let's get into it! "I just want to be my authentic self". I feel like authenticity has become a hot button topic that folks are really leaning into. Let's start this by defining what it means to be your authentic self- Your authentic self is who you truly are as a person, regardless of your occupation, regardless of the influence of others, it is an honest representation of you. To be authentic means not caring what others think about you. (Isn't this a mouth full!) For women of color, we don't always get to be our authentic selves with the stereotypes and things that come with society's view of us. However, in this season, I am continuing to work on what it means to be your most authentic self and what to do when folks don't accept my authentic self (now ya'll know, I don't hang around places or people that don't want me). “If you trade your authenticity for safety, you may experience the following: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, rage, blame, resentment, and inexplicable grief.”- Brene Brown As I've traded my authenticity in the past, I have experienced a lot of these things. As I get older, wiser, and learn myself even more, my authenticity is just not something that I am willing to compromise- it causes more problems in the long run. So this week, I'm emptying my brain and thoughts around what it means to continue balancing being my most authentic self in all aspects of my life.

Episode 26: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Being a Whole Wife Part II
What's up Triple B's-So............a couple of weeks ago, I explored what it means to be a whole wife and how this process continues to be an evolution. Being a wife has been by far one of the most fulfilling parts of my life- my husband is amazing (even when it's hard). We have been married for almost 7 years and let me tell you, I keep learning more and more about myself and how I need to show up for my husband as time goes on. While I was talking this one out a couple of weeks ago, I was thinking "Wouldn't it be cool for me to get a group of wives together for this conversation"? Literally from there, I texted 3 of my girl friends to see if they would join the podcast space with me. Devonna and I were on a couple of months ago talking about how we balance life, work, motherhood, family- like all the things. Alicia and her husband Terrance were on a couple of months ago and talked about Balancing falling deeper in love with you spouse with Chad and I. Joy Moten and I have been able to connect over the last year through and because of the podcast. Chad and I have been able to enjoy some cool date nights with she and her husband Mario. So naturally, this became my trifecta for the meaningful conversation. Y'all- this conversation was SO MUCH FUN! Like we could do it again all the time on a regular basis, I seriously didn't even want to end it. It was awesome to be with like minded women and really connect about the many different facets around being somebody's whole wife. So, here is one of the most authentic conversations that I have been able to have with a group of women (they are all so dope in their own rights)!

Episode 25: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing being a whole wife
Triple B's-What's up? How have y'all been? I hope nothing but the best, and if not, I pray that God grant you peace and wisdom during this time. My first and best example of what a wife should be is my adorable Mommy, Stacey. I mean I don't know any one that does it better (of course, everyone says this about their person so just oblige me ). I mean honestly, she just made everything look easy. The older that I get and the more time I spend being married to my amazing husband, I realize all the behind the things stuff that goes into being a wife that I never got to see (you know, we stayed out of grown folks business ). As I have started to explore my pushing back on societal norms and expectations of what it means to be a wife, I have started to ask myself "why"- and so it came up in therapy and we have managed to just stay there for a few sessions. So I'm doing the work and really being introspective around what it means to be a wife- and honestly, today, like right now in this moment, I'm doing a good job of keeping the balance. What better way to dump my thoughts than right here on my podcast. So here it goes.......balancing being a whole wife. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. – Ephesians 5:21-28As always, words are what I have for you, ~Brittan

Episode 24: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Love and Marriage Part III.
What's up Triple B's- I hope that this blog/podcast space finds you well, like in good health, good spirits, with good people around you- that's my definition of well anyways. I am excited about this week's podcast, of course, I'm always happy to share the airwaves with my favorite person on this side of heaven, you guessed it, my hus-bae Chad. While we are both working on our individual balance journeys, we have also started to really lean in to what that actually looks like for us as a unit. For us it's meant continuing to take the leap forward and to be intentional about investing in US. Married couples, please make sure that you are investing in you all as a unit. It is the things and tools that you learn from those times and moments that will continue to sustain you. When I goggled "balance in marriage", this is one of the first things that came up. And honestly, this is what balance should look like in a marriage, in a relationship- not compromising who you are, but figuring out how the two of you continue to work together to make it work. This is the third time that Chad has been on the podcast with me......and in true fashion, third time was a charm. We were able to have a pretty transparent conversation, often times forgetting that the mic was on that we were even recording (that was nice). I hope that we encourage someone as you continue on this balance journey. The podcast can also be found on Podomatic and Spotify (yes, we made it to Spotify). As always, words are what I have for you, ~Brittany

Episode 23: Just Balance with Brittany: All Out of Balance Edition
Hi Triple B's-"It's been too long, since you been gone, feels good when I'm with you, I miss you! " All I can actually see in my mind when I sing this line is Neicy in BAPS singing this in that restaurant (if you know, then you know). I know that I've been away for a couple of weeks- ya'll the balance just ain't balancing. After speaking with my therapist, she urged me to lean into that feeling that I was having and be confident in sharing my experiences on this balance journey. So this week, I'm ALL OUT OF BALANCE, but I'm not staying there. Also I want to stamp and rename that it's okay to not be in balance all of the time, but don't get stuck. So today, I'm being extremely vulnerable and sharing the messiness of my balance journey. I'm still a work in progress and for that I continue to be excited, rejuvenated, and mindful. Click here to listen to today's podcast- let me know what you're thinking and give me updates on your balance journey friends. As always, words are what I have for you- ~Brittany

Episode 22: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Work, Life, and Family (Educator Edition)
Hi Triple B's-Has life been life-ing for anybody other than me? The ups and downs throughout the weeks are absolutely insane. But it's Tuesday, and of course, I am excited to share with you all today. I met Devonna Hunter (she wasn't a Hunter then ) in college. She was saucy and sassy, but one of the most amazing friends that turned quickly into an even more amazing sister. We have been side-by-side for every life change- marriage, kids, moves, and everything in between. The way that I cherish our sisterhood is unmatched- if showing up for you was a person, it would definitely be her. One of the other things that we get to share is our love and passion for education. The bible talks about "iron sharpening iron" and we get to do this. This week we dive into what it means to balance work, life, and family from the perspective of educators. We all know that life is a juggling act and literally dropping one part of it especially as a wife and mom is not negotiable. Listen in to today's blog as we have a very "Brittany and Devonna" dialogue around how we are balancing it all. Quote of the week: As always, words are what I have for you~Brittany and Devonna

Episode 21: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing my Mental Health Journey
Hi Triple B's- Happy (Tuesday) Wednesday! I have realized that as I am personally on a quest for balance, that doing the podcast every week has actually been draining. For that reason, I am moving to a bi-weekly cadence, but super excited to continue pushing forward this year. This week, I am talking about MY MENTAL HEALTH! Y'all mental health and self care and taking care of both is so important and so necessary in this day in time. I am so fortunate to be afforded the resources, opportunities, and support to get myself together. I've already had two sessions with my therapists this year, and they have both been so helpful. The one piece of advice that I have as we are well into 2023, TALK TO SOMEONE! It's okay to invest in, pour into, and love on YOU! Take a listen to this week's podcast. Let me know your thoughts and reflections in the comments! As always, words are what I have for you, ~Brittany

Episode 20: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing a Fresh Star
TRIPLE B'S- OMG, how I have missed this platform and just talking- if you didn't guess already, I love to talk. I am a pick up the phone or let's talk on Facetime kind of girl. With all of that, HAPPY NEW YEAR! My hope is that this year is already treating you well and that you have been able to launch some things aligned to your own hopes, desires, needs, and wants. I thought it would only be right to kick this year off with the first podcast focused on Balancing a Fresh Start. I hope that each and everyone of you is experiencing a fresh start or a better start to this season. What does a "fresh start" actually look like? A fresh start is defined as an opportunity to start over without prejudice- a clean slate. Though we know that we have all of this spillage from last year, this is still our opportunity to think about things differently and figure out how to chart a course forward. With all of that said, get into this podcast this week. As always, words are what I have for you,~Brittany

Episode 19: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Self-Care
Hi Triple B's-So, it's been a couple of weeks and I know that I have been missing in action. I have been taking a minute to just step back and get myself together and reflect on the days as they go by. The holiday season can always be a really crazy time, it's busy, folks are preoccupied, and running around trying to do this and that and get this and that. It actually has been the perfect time for me to just sit back and think about my current posture. This podcast was messy and slightly all over the place, which is exactly where I've been lately- all over the place and trying to understand and figure things out. While, it's been my goal, I think that I have come away from this time with more questions and less clarity. But even with that, I continue to be blessed and excited to move through this journey called life, seeking balance in all areas. Take a listen at this week's podcast right here, it's the last one of the year, but proves that I am a work in progress....(and honestly, I'm okay with that). As always, words are what I have for you, ~Brittany

Episode 18: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Faith Edition
Hi Triple B's-Thank you for your continued support from last week's blog. Y'all just don't know how low I was, but God allowed your words and thoughts to lift me up immensely. And for that- I AM SO GRATEFUL! I pray that everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving and were able to connect with those that matter the absolute most, I know I did. It was amazing to get to hang out with my family and for my kids to smile and laugh the way that they did because of the joy that my family brings them also. *Ques we are one video here*Sorry, yall just couldn't resist including my family in this week's blog. Speaking of family, I've got a special guest joining me on today's blog as we tackle Balancing Faith- none other than my amazing husband, Chad ❤️. The last couple of weeks have been extremely trying for us and have forced us to activate our faith in major ways. I'm excited for you all to hear from us how we are engaging in this faith walk this week (of course this faith walk is a minute by minute and day by day thing, but let's just lean into this week ). Hebrews 11:6 states, “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him”.Click here to listen to this week's blog-cast with my special guest, Chad Cora. Episode 17: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Loss Edition
Hi Triple B's-Thanks for continuing on this balance journey with me. Last week I was able to talk about work life balance, which I am definitely reframing for myself. Coming off of this conversation of work life balance, life started life-ing. This week, I find myself in a very vulnerable space thinking about how I am balancing loss/grief of someone, something, relationships, security, safety, etc. I think people think about loss around just a person-I'm finding that's not true at all. Losing a job, losing a friendship that you're invested in, losing your sense of self are all types of loss that are worth exploring because folks experience them everyday. As I enter into this holiday season, I am really working through how I think about balancing loss and how I'm navigating this space- I can't get stuck in the loss, I've got to figure out how to move forward. The beautiful thing about loss is that while the emotions and feelings may not go away, the lessons that turn into treasures are with us for a lifetime. As always, words are what I have for you, ~Brittany

Episode 16: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Work and Life
Hi Triple B's-Thank you so much for listening to the blog two weeks ago that I posted with my family! The amount of comments that we got was amazing. And yes, my family could definitely have a show (we know it). I don't know who or what I would be without them, so any time I can have them on to share their wisdom, I am absolutely delighted. One of the topics that I have not leaned into has been balancing work and life. In my subconscious, I know I'm not doing it well (I'm probably harder on myself then I should be). This blog space is a place where I get to be my most authentic self, free from my own judgement and really others' as well. So, today, I'm going here. Let's talk about work life balance. Episode 15: Just Balance with Brittany: Balancing Family
Hi Triple B's. This week, I've got some very special co-hosts that are on the podcast with me. I was going to spend some time with my Daddy talking about how we balance our relationship, but he was acting all shy and stuff. So.......I thought it could be a great idea as we are going into all the seasons that bring warmth to my little heart to have a round table with.......YOU GUESSED IT- MY FAMILY! On the podcast with me today, we have Sam, Stacey, Krystalyn, and my husbae Chad. Like really this could be a whole show (trust me I'm not pitching one, I've seen what reality TV does to families). As a family we examine how we continue to lean in and balance family each and every day. There is a closeness that we have that brings me so much joy. I think we landed on at the end of the day, it's faith and family that will get you through all of the times that matter most. I hope that's what you get from listening to our chat this week. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts and any connections that you are making. (SN: We know that family doesn't have to be blood, it's the folks that continue to be there for your when you need someone to show up). I hope it brightens up your week in the same way that it did for me. As always, words are what I have for you~Brittany

Episode 14: Just Balance with Brittany: Balance Non-Closure
Hi Triple B's-Thanks so much for joining today- I'm excited to share what I'm balancing this week. And you may have guessed it from the title, it's NON-CLOSURE. In my mind, I feel like non-closure is a bad word that we shouldn't say. I mean I have definitely viewed it as a bad word, but am working on fully embracing the word and all that comes with it. This week, I lean into that very thing, happy listening!

Episode 13: Just Balance with Brittany: Falling Deeper in love with your Spouse Edition
Hi Triple B's- Thank you so much for your support of last week's blog. I am excited to continue sharing with you all how Chad and I continue to balance life, love, and marriage. This week I've got some amazing co-blog/casters with me! I was still feeling like a sap and I love spending time with other married couples, so I thought it would be nice to have a conversation with others around how we are balancing falling deeper in love with our spouses. Alicia and her husband Terrance are some of my absolute favorite folks and Cayleigh's godparents! I love when Alicia and I get to just talk and have our monthly lunches which allow us to remain connected. I have been able to hear about and watch the love that these two have for each other and immediately thought about them for today's blog/cast. Take a listen- it's so good ya'll, I promise you won't be disappointed. As always, words are what we have for you,~Brittany
