63: Let's Talk About Sex and Submission in Marriage

Friends, it's time we go there. This episode is a response to some comments we have received in a previous episode about what biblical leadership and submission looks like in a marriage. We also chat about what that looks like when it comes to sex and intimacy with your spouse. We encourage both wives and husbands to listen to this together, because we think it will be a benefit to your marriage in some way (maybe get your husbands to skip the life update part as there is mention of some TMI girly stuff!) We want to add a disclaimer that we are not qualified Pastors, Counsellors or Theological Experts on this subject. We are coming to this conversation having wrestled with a lot of these things in our own marriage, looking honestly at what Scripture says and how we can best apply that to our marriages. Make sure to subscribe or follow the podcast and if you have a moment, we'd love you to rate and review the podcast if you are loving our content so far. We'd deeply appreciate it! 57: Is The 'Redemptive Birth' Movement Helping or Hurting Mothers?

In this episode, we talk all about the concept of 'redemptive birth' and how many women who have a traumatic first birth are often encouraged to believe that their next birth will be different and 'redeem' the first one. However, we want to chat about how that is not always helpful, and doesn't fully align with the Bible.  Bella speaks about her first birth that was deemed traumatic and how she has been wrestling with the idea of praying for a redemptive second birth. We want to encourage women that it's important to pray for protection and God's presence for their births, while viewing birth in the light of Scripture, in all its pain as a result of sin and glorious beauty as a result of the outcome of a child. We pray that this episode blesses you and encourages you to seek God whether you are expecting a baby or not. 56: Parenting Biblically Series: Spiritual Warfare No Mother Wants To Face (with Julie Robertson)

*Trigger warning: in this episode, we talk about sexual abuse. How do you respond when your daughter has been sexually abused?  How do you move on? How do you plead with God as her mother? In episode 56, our final episode of our Parenting Biblically series, we chat with Julie Robertson (a.k.a like our second mum), about her daughter, Jordan's journey in being sexually abused as a child. Julie shares honestly about what it was like finding out, how she responded, what kind of spiritual warfare she faced and how she and her husband, Brett, decided to choose to live by faith and forgive. But there's good news at the end. Julie shares how God redeemed Jordan and where she is today. We share this story because Christian mothers are at war, whether this is your story or another. And we must put on the full armour of God and step in the gap for our children.  Julie is a great example of a warrior mother. 51: Is Every Christian Online A Fake?

Hey friends, Welcome to episode 51. In this episode we dive into what performative Christianity is on social media and in some churches today. Jesus makes it very clear in the Gospels by rebuking the Pharisees (Matthew 6:5-8) for their self-righteous acts, so we want to lovingly call out Christians who need to check their hearts on social media. We also call out some churches that are very performance-driven and challenge what the true reason for gathering with believers are. This is a topic that we need to talk about, because we are done with performative Christianity online and in the church. 49: Do We Overcomplicate Hospitality?

In episode 49, we chat about Christians and hospitality. Why are we less hospitable these days than maybe our grandparents were? Why do we care so much about 'protecting our peace' and not having to be inconvenienced for the sake of meeting a need? Why do we overcomplicate hospitality, when it's actually so simple and what Jesus calls us to? 43: Our Take on Christians and Yoga

Welcome to episode 43, friends! This week we are chatting all about if Christians should partake in yoga and our thoughts about it. In today's culture, far too many Christian people are nonchalant about things that are acceptable in the world, but not in the Bible. The Bible is very clear about spiritual forces that are at play when we partake in other spiritual practices, like yoga. We also chat about our thoughts on Christian yoga - to do or not to do? How the church has taught an unhealthy doctrine of a casual fear of the Lord The consequences of lacking fear of the Lord The difference between the fear of the wrath of the Lord and fear of the Lord for those who love Him How to live with the fear of the Lord daily It's a juicy topic, but a needed one. 35: Is Anxiety A Sin?

In episode 35, we chat all about Christians and anxiety.  The Bible commands us not to fear for everyday of the year (literally 365 times), and yet, Christians still struggle with anxiety, possibly more than ever. Why is this so? Is anxiety a sin? We are going to explore this question, while considering our own struggles with anxiety. We know how debilitating anxiety can be, but Christ came to save us from its stronghold.  We share practical tips to deal with anxiety and talk about our own breakthroughs from it. We pray that those who deal with anxiety find comfort and encouragement from our conversation. And those who don't know what it's like, we encourage to listen also, to get a glimpse into what people with anxiety deal with and how to support them. 33: What Might Jesus Say To Women Today?

Have you ever wondered that if Jesus were sitting across from you drinking coffee (or herbal tea), what He would want you to know? In this solo episode, Jess shares what she thinks Jesus might say to women today.  She narrows down three messages she speculates Jesus would say to us, as women living in western society. Jess explores Jesus' interaction with women in three stories in the Gospels that point out critical messages that He would want us women to know today. When reading the Bible, it is hard to imagine yourself in these stories, but God wants us to see ourselves in those sacred pages. That we would know these truths and apply them to our lives with authenticity and by God's grace. It is my (Jess) hope that you would know that the Bible is timeless and true. That Jesus has wonderful, reassuring truths for women, to remind them of their worth and value. 32: A Call For Christians To Reconsider Celebrating Halloween

In this episode, we chat about why Christians should reconsider celebrating Halloween. It is becoming a growing celebration in Australia and already a significant event in the UK and US. So much so that it is engrained into our western culture. Many Christians still partake in Halloween, even if it is just dressing up for fun. But what if we suggest you put aside your cultural reasons and discuss what it says in the Bible about parterning with darkness? Despite what reasons Christians have for celebrating Halloween or dabbling in it at least, we must look to the Bible for the way we conduct ourselves. And while the Bible does not talk about Halloween specifically, there is a lot to say about partnering with dark spiritual forces, that are a play on Halloween. We also talk about our thoughts on Santa and the Easter Bunny and whether or not we should acknowledge them as Christians. We understand that these kind of conversations can be polarising, but our aim is always to point you to Jesus and challenge you to live against the cultural norm, as Jesus so often teaches. 30: Theological Differences Don't Need To Ruin A Friendship

We made it to 30 episodes guys! Are you proud of us? Ha! This week, we are talking about theological differences between Christians, particularly between friends. As Christians, there are core beliefs that make up the foundation of our faith, like the resurrection of Jesus, Jesus atoning for our sins, the Trinity, God the all-powerful Creator and so on. However, how about the smaller beliefs that are rooted in tradition or in different denominations of the faith, like baptisms, church leadership, communion/sacraments, interpretation of Scripture and more? How do we address these differences whether in person or online, with grace and humility? How do we have healthy debates about theological topics without acting prideful or bitter? We explore what the Bible has to say about these matters and share our own raw experiences. As sinful humans, we will never 'know it all' and our hope is that listeners will ask God to search their hearts for any wayward thinking that has led to pride or bitterness. Let's be Christians who fight for unity regardless of some theological differences! Let's work together to have healthy discussions and wrestlings about our faith.  We need to set the example as Christians to strive for unity, 'for our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this dark world' (Ephesians 6:12). 29: Simple Ways To Share The Gospel In All Seasons

Are we overcomplicating sharing the Gospel? Do we live too comfortably to share our testimonies to non-believers? How do we share the Gospel with confidence and conviction without shouting 'repent' on the street corner? In episode 29, we chat about how to simplify evangelism and find organic ways to share the Gospel in every season you find yourself in. Jesus calls us to 'make disciples of all nations' (Matthew 28:19), but what does that look like on a practical level? We encourage mothers, single women, women who work, women who stay at home, to make sharing the Gospel part of your every day life and how to do it in a way that's not cringey or complicated. 28: "Let's Talk About Lust, Baby"

In episode 28, Bella and Jess chat about an unpopular topic among women; lust. Yes, we women struggle with lust too, whether we want to believe it or not. But for women, it can be much deeper than just a physical attraction to men. Jess and Bella talk about their own struggles with lust, what the Bible says about lust and how we can manage it so that it doesn't lead to sin. We as women need to speak more about these conversations because they are something we all struggle with at one point or another. It's important to bring sin to light so that it doesn't stay lurking in the dark and something to live in shame by. Welcome to episode 25, friends! In this week's episode, Jess and Bella chat about what Sabbath (or Shabbat in Hebrew) means and if Christians should partake in it? We explore what the Bible says that the Sabbath is and how as New Testament Christians, what it means for us today. We talk about our experiences taking Sabbath and how it has changed the way we live for the better. 21: More Than A Body - What It Means To Be The Temple Of The Holy Spirit

In episode 21, we are chatting all about what it means to be the Temple of the Holy Spirit.  Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." What does this mean? How can we live our lives as Temples of the Holy Spirit in a practical sense? What does that mean as women of God? We will be exploring this and sharing our own journeys when it comes to what we watch, listen to and consume that impact our bodies and our faith. So, pop your headphones on or turn that volume up as you drive to work, and let's chat! 20: What Our Quiet Time with Jesus Looks Like Right Now

We made it to 20 episodes, friends! Thanks for coming along for the ride with us! We wanted to share what our 'quiet' time with Jesus looks like right now and what it looked like pre-kids. We use the term 'quiet' very loosely, because if you're a parent, there's rarely a time when it's quiet!! We talk about some practical ways we try to get our quiet time in, what we do when quiet time doesn't look like the way we want and how we practice a rhythm of abiding in Christ every single day. We don't do it perfectly, but we wanted this episode to be an encouragement to women, mothers or not, that there is no secret sauce to quiet time, but there are ways to do it well. Hope this episode encourages you, friends! Make sure to subscribe or follow the podcast and if you have a moment, we'd love you to rate and review the podcast if you are loving our content so far. 19: God's Standard of Beauty in a Filtered World

This week we are exploring what God's standard of beauty is versus the world's version of beauty. How can we view beauty the way God does? What is the difference between what God calls beautiful compared to what the world calls beautiful? How can we embrace our beauty without making it an idol in our lives? And how can we as Christians stop giving in to all the beauty trends, that fade, and start being the beauty trend-setters? We chat about all of this and more in episode 19! 18: Why Gentle Parenting is Fundamentally Unbiblical

In episode 18, we are exploring how we as Christians should approach the gentle parenting philosophy from a biblical standpoint. We want to make it clear that we are not against the entire philosophy of gentle parenting, there are some great aspects to it. However, the Bible has a lot to say about parenting, and many aspects of gentle parenting do not align. We explore four ways gentle parenting does not align with God's Word and how we as Christian parents should discern from the Holy Spirit how to parent biblically in today's culture. We'd love to hear if you agree or disagree with any of our points! Please DM us on Instagram. We'd be interested to hear other people's views. 16: From Worry to Wisdom: First Time Mum vs Fourth Time Mum

This week, we are chatting about what we do differently to each other as a first time mum (Bella) and fourth time mum (Jess). Bella opens up about how as a first time mum (FTM), it is like a rite of passage that you must go through, to experience all the FTM things in order to know what to do better or more confidently next time. Jess talks about the things she did with her first two babies that she no longer does with her fourth and some things she wishes she did differently with her girls. We came to an agreement that more seasoned mums should be willing to help out a first time mum and that FTM's should heed advice from seasoned mums, if it comes from a well-intentioned place. 15: A Guide to Finding a Church and the Red Flags To Look For

This week, we are turning up the heat (again) and sharing about red flags (and green!) to look for in a church.   We should be in a church. We should be a part of a church. We ARE the church.   But what does a biblical church look like?   There is no such thing as a perfect church: we are ALL sinners. But, there are churches that do not reflect what a good, Christ-centred, Bible-focused church should have.   If you are a new Christian, you may find this episode to be a helpful guide. And if you're a seasoned Christian and a part of a church, then this will be a good reminder of the kind of church you should be a part of.   Disclaimer: we are not experts here! We are purely speaking from our experience in finding a new church multiple times and doing so with much prayer, discussion, biblical reference and discernment. You may disagree with us on some things, and for the most part, that is okay!    We address the red flags to look for in a church, but we also talk about the good things (or green flags) to look for in a church.   Lastly, we talk about 'beige flags' to look for in a church (so things that are not necessarily a red flag, but just something to consider).   Ultimately, we want this to be an encouragement out there for you to be connected into a church and to find a church that reflects the heart of God in the purest way humanly possible.   Show notes:   Websites:   R. 14: Propaganda We're Not Falling For

In this week's episode, we are spilling it all - the propaganda we're not falling for. We're not generally ones to jump on the latest social media trends, but we felt like this was a fitting one for the podcast. So, we are sharing some fun, light-hearted ones and some more deep and intense propaganda we're not falling for. Get ready to laugh, possibly be shocked and maybe challenged in some way. While some of what we say is irrelevant to our faith, we want to preface that what we talk about in the podcast is solely our conviction. Our prayer is that we always point people to Jesus, regardless of what each person's conviction may be. If you haven't already, would you take a moment to rate and review our podcast?
