Healing our Sexuality and the Gospel

Please text us your thoughts on this episode. We love hearing from you. Gospel Blessings!!Welcome to Season 7 of the Him We Proclaim Podcast.  10 years ago, John Fonville preached about the gospel being the key to moral purity.  It was 9 messages called “Do You Not Know” and it’s been one of our most listened to series.  Who would have thought so many church scandals were going to come out during the last decade?  It’s an unprecedented time and we are dealing with the fallout of investigations into denominations or having some of the most respected evangelical leaders being exposed as wolves or for having a duplicitous lifestyle in the area of sexuality.  It’s been a relentless time has it not?  Is there hope?  Well, the reality is the early church was also saved from very pagan and scandalous lifestyles and needed the key to moral purity - the gospel.  Let’s press play now on the introductory message of Do You Not Know. About JohnJohn Fonville is Pastor of Paramount Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Persistence ... or Works?

Please text us your thoughts on this episode. We love hearing from you. Gospel Blessings!!What kind of things make us feel like we just can't keep going in this Christian life?  What steals our joy and motivation to persist on this faith journey?  Today John addresses the "Doctrine of Persistence" and how to keep falling into one of the oldest traps of earning our way back to God after we sin as a believer.  The good news is Christ has already made a way for us and will hear our prayers.  Todays message is called "Never let the Doctrine of Persistence become the Covenant of Works". Resources:Hope and Holiness: How the Gospel Enables and Empowers Sexual Purityhttps://www.moodypublishers.com/hope-and-holiness?fbclid=IwAR2rE5lUjJWQtmgi0xbQRL9cyt5KlRHunSBL8xBOCCJj3ckfRvzu9lSTZWUAbout JohnJohn Fonville is Pastor of Paramount Church in Jacksonville, Florida. What is The Message of the Bible?

Please text us your thoughts on this episode. We love hearing from you. Gospel Blessings!!What is the Bible all about?  Is it just an old book of disconnected stories and endless genealogies that somehow teach us moral lessons?  Is it some randomly chosen accounts of people who were somehow amazing enough to have their lives featured in the pages of Scripture?   Or is it simply a self-help rule book that’s there to help us better our lives?  Well, those are some self-centered perspectives aren’t they?  What about this?  The Bible shows us how the Lord kept His promises to a bunch of ordinary, everyday, faithless, godless sinners who didn’t deserve it.  How’s that’s for some good news?  Resources:Hope and Holiness: How the Gospel Enables and Empowers Sexual Purityhttps://www.moodypublishers.com/hope-and-holiness?fbclid=IwAR2rE5lUjJWQtmgi0xbQRL9cyt5KlRHunSBL8xBOCCJj3ckfRvzu9lSTZWUAbout JohnJohn Fonville is Pastor of Paramount Church in Jacksonville, Florida. What is Grace For?

Please text us your thoughts on this episode. We love hearing from you. Gospel Blessings!!(Episode #3 Sola Gratia - Our Only Cause) Sola Gratia is the third pillar of the 5 Solas of the Reformation.  It means our Salvation is by Grace Alone and today we are going to learn that Grace is one of the sweetest and kindest gifts from God that we know as believers.  John will be dispelling any misunderstandings we may have about grace and will answer three questions: What is Grace? What does grace look like as God applies it in the life of sinners? And thirdly, what is the ultimate purpose of grace?Book Mentioned in Episode: Hope And Holiness: How The Gospel Enables and Empowers Sexual Purity by John FonvilleAbout the book:https://www.paramountchurch.com/hope-and-holiness-bookAmazon Page for Hope and Holiness:https://a.co/d/4aAyglJAbout JohnJohn Fonville is Pastor of Paramount Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Are the 5 Solas still relevant?

Please text us your thoughts on this episode. We love hearing from you. Gospel Blessings!!(Episode #2 - Solus Christus) Are the five Solas of the reformation relevant to us today? Well, according to John Fonville, not only are they relevant, the five Solas are five, very rich, central truths that bring us back to the heart of the gospel. They proclaim that salvation is based on scripture alone, which leads us by grace alone, through faith alone, and  Christ alone for the glory of God alone.  John believes the five Solas are not just merely historical landmarks of a day gone by.  But rather five central trues of Jesus Christ that can bring us into a new modern reformation.  Wouldn't that be amazing?Book Mentioned in Episode: Hope And Holiness: How The Gospel Enables and Empowers Sexual Purity by John FonvilleAbout the book:https://www.paramountchurch.com/hope-and-holiness-bookAmazon Page for Hope and Holiness:https://a.co/d/4aAyglJAbout JohnJohn Fonville is Pastor of Paramount Church in Jacksonville, Florida. The Blessed Life

Please text us your thoughts on this episode. We love hearing from you. Gospel Blessings!!In our study of Galatians 3 called Sons of Abraham, we see that the Apostle Paul is taking on the issue of faith versus works for salvation. He says clearly that those of faith are the sons of Abraham and are blessed. That's good news, right? Well, not to someone who is a direct descendant of Abraham and has been trusting in the law and works to be blessed. This was a big deal, and we're going to find out more today in a message called The Blessed Life.Resources:Hope and Holiness: How the Gospel Enables and Empowers Sexual Purityhttps://www.moodypublishers.com/hope-and-holiness?fbclid=IwAR2rE5lUjJWQtmgi0xbQRL9cyt5KlRHunSBL8xBOCCJj3ckfRvzu9lSTZWUAbout JohnJohn Fonville is Pastor of Paramount Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Please text us your thoughts on this episode. We love hearing from you. Gospel Blessings!!(Part 6). We've all heard that Children of God are known by the love they have for one another.  But what does that really look like?  In our 1 John study, we are contrasting the Children of God vs the Children of the Devil.  We’ll see today that one of the most profound ways Children of God love each other is how they treat the teachings of God.  In other words, not spreading false teachings about the person and work of Christ is a primary way believers love one another. Best of 2020's - What Value is Baptism to Little Children?

Please text us your thoughts on this episode. We love hearing from you. Gospel Blessings!!What is the practical advantage to baptizing children of believers?  Christian baptism sets someone apart.  Baptism for infants, children or adults, means that the name of the Triune God (The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit), has been placed on them, and that they are part of the trinitarian faith.  It’s a powerful, countercultural declaration to the world that God is the one true God, and that we identify with Him and are trusting in Him for our salvation.   About JohnJohn Fonville is Pastor of Paramount Church in Jacksonville, Florida. They are incredibly therapeutic.  As we look to scripture, we see there is a theme of at least 4 fascinating garden scenes.  John has studied these 4 places of beauty, and has pulled out the Gospel good news from each of them.  For instance, we have the iconic Garden of Eden that was meant to be a place of sweet fellowship with God, and in the New Testament, we have to the Garden of Gethsamane where Jesus pleaded with his Father. There’s so much to these significant places of cultivation and growth.  Resources:Hope and Holiness: How the Gospel Enables and Empowers Sexual Purityhttps://www.moodypublishers.com/hope-and-holiness?fbclid=IwAR2rE5lUjJWQtmgi0xbQRL9cyt5KlRHunSBL8xBOCCJj3ckfRvzu9lSTZWUAbout JohnJohn Fonville is Pastor of Paramount Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Please text us your thoughts on this episode. We love hearing from you.
