The parable of the Good Samaritan shows that a neighbor is one who shows mercy, even as Jesus has shown mercy to us by taking personal responsibility for us and our sin, not with empty words but in deed and truth.

Jesus sends out the 72 with many challenges, but they are victorious because their names are written in heaven.

Jesus prayed that we may be one. In this world it would not appear that we are one, but we are in fact one because Jesus loves us.

The one seated on the throne said, “behold, I am making all thugs new.” But what does it mean for us to be new? What’s new becomes old and dies in this work, but Christ is risen from the dead. In them we are a new creation. In him the old becomes new. The dead are raised. Sinners are forgiven.
