I'm sharing a little more on the unfiltered side of widowhood. The raw and unpolished reality of widowhood is not only messy, it's a constant roller coaster. My faith in Jesus is definitely my anchor amidst the chaos of grief and the unexpected moments that leave me confused, sad, sometimes laughing... But many times on the verge of tears. Sharing this is not easy for me and something I feel God wants me to do...Even though I don't want to do any of it. However, there is beauty in finding God in the messy middle—when life feels shattered but HIS hope still shines. Scripture has lifted my eyes and chin over and over again. God has never allowed for things to not be funny, even in the oddest of times. I has been my surprising companion in the journey of loss, for sure. He talked about the fact that his brain, many of the times, is all over the place and he's got so many things in his mind that he wants to do: people he wants to pray, sermon ideas, etc. He began doing the method I talk about in an effort to calm himself before he went into prayer and things of that nature. A healthy dose of rejection… None of us like rejection, but it does happen and many times as Christians it's exactly what God intends. Sharing this situation with The Bible Babes , one of the ladies gave this quote: "Rejection is many times God's protection and His redirection" I do believe everything is a God situation when something happens instead of throwing a fit, feeling like a victim or blaming I like to think and ask… God, what do you want me to learn here? I think any tactic He uses to draw me back to him, bring me into a better way of thinking, or even get me out of a certain situation calls for praise and gratefulness that He cares for my daily thoughts and actions that much.It does take a while to bring ourselves to this kind of thinking, but I believe it's how God wants us to think instead of selfishly. Don't get me wrong I have my moments of selfishness, my own pity parties, and me dwelling in the misunderstanding of it all. But He always draws me back to His truth and I not only want to share that with you, but also encourage you. The truth - probably the thing we see the least these days. The good news is that the truth is available and just waiting for us to remind ourselves of it. If I could give advice to new-widow me... Mindy talks about what she would say to herself three years ago when Lee passed. This advice has remained true for years.
