🛑💰 Silenced & Set Up: How Haven Homes & Real America Tried to Hide My Ledger Credit & Wrongful Late Fee Caused by Family Promise 🏡⚠️

Today, I’m pulling back the curtain on what really happened on April 30, 2024, when I walked into the Real America LLC office—the company that manages Haven Homes—to confront the mess going on with my housing. This is a story of retaliation, false accusations, and the real cost of standing up for yourself. Let’s get into it!⸻Walking Into the Real America Office 🏢On April 30, 2024, I decided I had enough. I walked into the Real America LLC office to get some real answers. At first, I spoke with a receptionist, but eventually, I was told I needed to talk to Charlotte Wilson, one of their employees. From the moment I sat down, I made it clear—I was there to talk about how I was being treated at Haven Homes, specifically by Rose, the property manager. I told Charlotte everything. Rose had been falsifying noise complaints to get me evicted—all because I confronted her about a late fee that wasn’t even my fault. How It All Started: Family Promise’s Retaliation 🚨To understand why I even had that late fee, let’s back up. I was in the rapid rehousing program run by Family Promise, but they kicked me out because I held them accountable. At my previous place, The Barlow, I had serious issues:✅ Windows that wouldn’t lock – meaning I didn’t feel safe.✅ A maintenance man harassing me – making me feel even more unsafe.I spoke up about these issues, but instead of fixing them, Family Promise retaliated. They removed me from the program and refused to pay my rent, which led to the late fee on my account.Rose’s Retaliation: Using Fake Noise Complaints to Force Me Out 🏠🚫Now, back to Haven Homes. After Family Promise’s retaliation, Rose decided to pile on the harassment. She:❌ Emailed multiple organizations about my situation without my permission❌ Tried to make me feel guilty for the late fee—which wasn’t even my fault❌ Filed fake noise complaints against me to build a case for evictionI confronted her about it. And what did she do? Played the victim. She acted like I was wrong for calling her out on her retaliation. What Happened at Real America That Day? 🤔During my conversation with Charlotte Wilson, I laid it all out. I told her how I was being targeted, how Rose was weaponizing the system against me, and how this was a clear case of retaliation.Charlotte listened, but did she really care? 🤷🏾‍♀️ That’s the question. Because instead of action, all I got was a bunch of corporate runaround.⸻Why This Matters & What’s Next 🔥This wasn’t just about me. This is about a system that punishes people for speaking up.🏡 Housing programs shouldn’t be used as weapons.🛑 Property managers shouldn’t abuse their power.⚖️ Survivors deserve safety, not retaliation.I’m telling my story because I know I’m not the only one. And trust me, this fight isn’t over.⸻Join the Movement ✊🏾If you’ve ever been targeted, retaliated against, or silenced—you are not alone. Let’s keep exposing the truth and fighting for justice.💬 Share your story in the comments!📢 Tag someone who needs to hear this.🎙️ Follow ImTellin’ for more real talk.#HousingJustice #StopRetaliation #ImTellin #SurvivorStories #RealAmericaLLC #FamilyPromise #HavenHomes #ExposeTheSystem 🔥

🔥 Gaslit & Set Up: My Conversation with Nina Robinson About False Noise Complaints 🚨🏡

On April 30, 2024, I was directed by Charlotte Wilson to return to Haven Homes to have a conversation with Nina Robinson, who was the Vice President of Real America at the time. I was hoping for a real discussion about the false noise complaints being used to push me out—but what I got instead was gaslighting, blame-shifting, and zero accountability. In this episode, I break down my conversation with Nina, where I:🚩 Called out Rose’s blatant disrespect toward me as a resident.🔍 Demanded actual proof of the noise complaints before accepting any write-ups.🤝 Asked for mediation, only to be told I just had to “deal with it.”🏡 Was pressured to say I wanted to move out, despite not having the resources to do so.And here’s where it gets real shady…📆 Why did Rose wait until April 29th to serve me complaints from April 14th-17th—days I wasn’t even home?📍 The person who filed the complaint lived in a different cul-de-sac—geographically impossible for me to bang on their wall.❌ After further investigation, I found out the actual complainer lived in apartment 218—on the second floor! Not under me. Not next to me. Nowhere near my unit. This was a setup from the start. Instead of accountability, Nina gaslit me, telling me my only options were to “deal with it” or end my lease. But as someone in affordable housing, I didn’t have the resources to just pick up and move. So what was I supposed to do? Let them push me out?Listen in as I break down how this was just another way to force me out of my home.🎧 Tune in now. Share this episode, because what happened to me is happening to others. Let’s expose the system!#HousingInjustice #FalseComplaints #ImTellin #StopTheGaslighting #TenantRights #AffordableHousingCrisis #HavenHomesExposed #RealAmericaLLC #FightBack ✊🏾

    🎙️From Gatekeeper to Gaslighter – Rose Green’s Retaliation🚪🔥

In this episode, I expose how Rose Green, a former employee of Haven Homes Apartments, used false noise complaints to retaliate against me—all because I dared to hold her accountable. 😤🔹 When I first met Rose, she was rude and dismissive, making my entire application process a nightmare.🔹 She constantly yelled at me when I followed up, even though their own errors and missing paperwork forced me to keep coming back. 📑💥🔹 Despite having a background in working with homeless individuals and surviving domestic violence herself, she treated me like I was beneath her.🔹 The retaliation started when I confronted her about her poor math skills and discussing my personal business with agencies that had already tried to sabotage me. 🚩🔹 Instead of fixing her mistakes, she weaponized false noise complaints against me.This episode highlights the moment I confronted her, standing my ground without being disrespectful or rude. Listen to how she reacted when I called her out!#ImTellin #NewPodcastEpisode #ExposingTheSystem #FalseComplaints #Retaliation #GatekeeperToGaslighter #SurvivorStories #StandOnBusiness #SpeakingTruth #JusticeMatters 🚪🔥

🎙️ Fake Laughs & Real Struggles – Exposing the Sabotage 😤🎭

In this episode, I take y’all inside the frustration, gaslighting, and straight-up sabotage I faced while trying to get Family Promise to do the bare minimum. 😡 They refused to give me documentation for my job, putting my employment at risk, all while forcing me to attend mandatory meetings, therapy, grief counseling, and even a Toastmasters class to learn how to advocate for myself. 🗣️💔 This episode highlights:🔹 How I had to fake laugh & BS my way through conversations just to get them to “stand on business” 😒🔹 Their deliberate attempts to sabotage my progress and make me feel delusional🔹 The constant harassment I endured in my apartment and the lack of protection🔹 The dead air moments that show just how frustrating these conversations were—skip around if needed!🎧 Tap in now! Fighting for Protection: My Conversation with Officer Mike

In this episode of ImTellin', I share a recorded conversation with Officer Mike from the Plainfield, Indiana Police Department—one of the few people who actually stepped up when I needed help. On January 3, 2023, I reached out to law enforcement because the agency I was working with, Family Promise, refused to assist me in filing a protection order against my apartment’s maintenance man. Their excuse? They claimed they could only help with cases involving someone I was dating.Without Officer Mike’s guidance, I wouldn’t have had the information or support to move forward with the protection order on my own. This conversation highlights the barriers survivors face when seeking safety and how the very organizations meant to help often fall short. Tune in as I expose the realities of navigating the system and the fight to be heard.🎧 Listen now and share your thoughts! #ImTellin #SurvivorStories #ExposingTheSystem

Dangling Resources & Playing Games: My Clash with Family Promise

In this episode, I break down my heated interactions with Julie Randall, Director of Family Promise, and how she weaponized resources against me when I spoke up about mistreatment. It all started when my advocate twisted a situation involving an argument I had while moving—spinning it into a false domestic violence claim. Instead of supporting me, they got sarcastic and retaliated when I called them out.Julie kicked me out of her office for speaking my truth, then teamed up with the apartment complex to force me out completely. Despite originally telling me I'd have housing support until January 2025, they suddenly switched up in September, targeting me and other Black women. Their excuse? That I wasn’t verifying my income—when in reality, that’s exactly why I was there that day!It gets deeper… They even had an insider at my job leaking details about my FMLA claim—while I was in therapy, trying to process the trauma they were putting me through. And when I pushed back and had IHCDA investigate, suddenly I was labeled the problem—"abusive," "threatening," and "non-compliant."They said they could remove me "whenever they wanted"—and that’s exactly what they did. This is my story. This is our reality. 🗣️🔥

Despite the resident's familiarity with window construction through their employment, the apartment management and a supporting organization, Family Promise, were unresponsive to the structural issue. Instead of addressing the root cause of misaligned windows likely due to building settling, they seemingly preferred to rely on energy assistance programs to cover the increased utility costs borne by residents, many of whom were vulnerable. This situation highlights a systemic failure where known building defects were ignored, leaving tenants to suffer financial and physical discomfort while public funds were used to mask the problem rather than solve it.

🦋✨ Firefly Family Alliance: A Promise of Hope, A Reality of Abandonment 😔🚪

This episode depicts an excerpt from "Firefly's Broken Promises: Abuse Advocacy and Abandonment," in which the client recounts a personal experience with the Firefly Family Alliance. The author sought support from this Indianapolis-based organization while escaping an abusive situation. Initially, Firefly offered some assistance, including an affidavit, coping strategies, and a partial rent payment. However, the author felt judged, experienced a change in advocates, and ultimately believed the help arrived too late to prevent significant harm. Following the divorce hearing, Firefly allegedly ceased providing necessary support, leaving the author feeling abandoned and hindering their recovery. This rejection perpetuated a cycle of abuse, as the author continued to encounter exploitation and neglect after the organization withdrew its assistance.

    🤔📑 Family Promise: A Client’s Story of Manipulation & Betrayal 😤

This episode details the experience of a former Family Promise client who alleges that her advocate, Melissa Pine, misused their professional relationship. Pine reportedly asked the client to submit her resume to the client's employer, raising questions about her motives. The client describes Pine venting about her dissatisfaction with Family Promise and subsequently appearing to use the client's job opportunity for personal gain and to benefit others within the organization. This included seemingly gathering information about the hiring process and concealing the fact that a colleague's mother had been hired at the client's company. The client ultimately believes Pine's actions were part of a larger strategy to remove her from the Family Promise program after realizing she had income while on FMLA. The narrative suggests a betrayal of trust and a manipulation of resources intended to support individuals experiencing homelessness.

  18. 8

😕📄 Family Promise: A Rapid Rehousing Disaster 😡

This episode details a severely negative experience with the rapid rehousing program at Family Promise. The author describes systemic issues including untrained and disorganized staff who made numerous errors in paperwork, causing significant stress for program participants. Instead of taking responsibility, staff allegedly blamed the women and reacted defensively to their concerns. The text further alleges manipulative tactics, such as offering food to distract from the errors, and recounts an instance where a participant faced threats of removal for questioning mismanagement and experienced deliberate sabotage of her transportation to work, leading to job loss. Ultimately, the author concludes that Family Promise's actions were not just incompetent but cruel, creating instability rather than support.

The provided text is an excerpt from a survivor's account detailing her negative experiences within a shelter system intended to support vulnerable individuals. The author recounts seeking refuge at "Sheltering Wings" after a suggestion from her school director. Instead of finding aid, she describes facing dismissive case management, obstruction from the Domestic Violence Network of Indiana, and mistreatment from both staff and residents. The narrative highlights issues such as discriminatory treatment, mishandling of reported problems, and pressure to remain in the program for the shelter's benefit rather than the survivor's. Despite eventually securing transitional housing elsewhere, the author's departure from "Sheltering Wings" was met with hostility and abrupt dismissal. Ultimately, the excerpt portrays a system failing to provide genuine support and instead fostering dependence and exploitation.

Initially presented as a support person, Pine exhibited inconsistent behavior and a failure to advocate for the narrator's safety after an incident involving a maintenance man. Despite Pine's own discomfort and investigation into the maintenance worker, she withheld crucial information needed for the narrator to seek legal protection. This account portrays a betrayal by someone in a position of trust, highlighting a system that seemingly prioritizes other concerns over the survivor's well-being. The narrator's experience reveals a significant disconnect between the program's intended purpose and the actual support received.

Domestic Violence Agencies: Abuse in Disguise

Many domestic violence organizations claim to be safe havens for survivors, but in reality, some have become just another form of abuse. These agencies, which are supposed to provide protection and support, are instead exploiting the very people they claim to help. They manipulate government funding and public donations, using survivors as pawns in their money-making schemes while offering little to no real assistance. From my own experience navigating the system in Indiana, I’ve seen firsthand how these organizations operate more like organized crime groups than advocacy centers. They control survivors through coercion, retaliation, and gatekeeping of resources. When I spoke up about mistreatment, I was blacklisted, denied help, and ultimately pushed further into instability. These agencies weaponize bureaucracy and false promises, trapping survivors in a cycle of dependence while ensuring their funding continues to flow. What’s worse is that there is little to no oversight. These organizations are trusted blindly, yet they misuse their power to silence victims rather than uplift them. They exploit trauma for profit, pocketing funds meant for housing, legal aid, and job support. The system is rigged to benefit them—not the people suffering. It’s time to expose the truth: some domestic violence agencies are not saviors; they are abusers in disguise. Survivors deserve real help, not to be used as a means for financial gain while being left to fend for themselves.
