BRING ON THE HATERS | In the Building | EP. 596
Episode 596 opens with a surprisingly heartfelt conversation about patriotism, Texas pride, and what America means heading into the Fourth of July weekend. Mike and Rudy reflect on travel, military history, and the perspective you gain when you see how people around the world view the United States. Mike shares a powerful story from visiting Normandy, where American flags still fly in French villages as reminders of sacrifice and liberation. What starts as casual holiday talk quickly turns into one of the more thoughtful openings the show has had in a while. From there, the show shifts into classic ITB chaos with stories from the Texas freeze, COVID lockdown memories, and some hilarious reflections on just how bizarre that era really was. Mike shares how he flew back to San Antonio to help during the freeze, while Rudy recalls the strange reality of navigating quarantine rules across different states. The nostalgia quickly gives way to sports, where the heat really turns up. The biggest theme of the episode is simple: the guys are done apologizing for their opinions. Whether it’s European soccer fans attacking them for criticizing broadcasters like Zlatan Ibrahimović and Thierry Henry, or Spurs fans furious over Mike’s lukewarm reaction to the San Antonio Spurs signing Tobias Harris, Mike and Rudy double down. Mike makes it clear he doesn’t hate Harris, he just doesn’t think the move addresses San Antonio’s biggest weakness: size and physicality around Victor Wembanyama. The message is loud and clear: disagree all you want, but bring receipts. The basketball talk continues with reactions to the NBA experimenting with a new Summer League free-throw rule, where a made free throw could count for multiple points to speed up games. Mike hates the gimmick, comparing it to golf gimmies and calling out the league for prioritizing marketing over competition. Add in World Cup outrage after a controversial red card for Team USA, Tiger Woods drug talk, BBQ updates, and nonstop comment-section warfare, and this episode delivers peak In The Building energy. Topics Covered: Fourth of July patriotism and Texas pride Mike’s Normandy story and perspective on America Memories from the Texas freeze and COVID lockdown World Cup controversy and Team USA red card frustration European backlash over Thierry Henry and Zlatan criticism Spurs fans reacting to Mike’s Tobias Harris take Why Tobias Harris doesn’t solve the Spurs’ biggest issue Victor Wembanyama’s need for more frontcourt support NBA Summer League free-throw rule experiment Mike Taylor BBQ sponsorship and community updates Key Moments: Mike shares his emotional Normandy experience Rudy punches the ref from the USA vs Bosnia match Heated clapback at European soccer fans in the comments Mike doubles down on his Tobias Harris criticism Debate over whether the NBA is turning into gimmick-driven entertainment Episode 596 is pure In The Building: passionate, hilarious, opinionated, and completely unfiltered. Whether fans agree or disagree, Mike and Rudy remind everyone why the show works so well: they’re never afraid to say exactly what they think and take all the smoke that comes with it. #GoSpursGo #SanAntonioSpurs #BringOnTheHaters #TobiasHarris #VictorWembanyama #Wemby #WorldCup2026 #USMNT #NBATwitter #SpursNation #SportsTalk #HotTakes #InTheBuildingPodcast #MikeTaylor #RudyJay #BasketballTalk #SoccerTalk #SilverAndBlack #SportsPodcast #BringTheSmoke Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Spurs Pick Up Tobias Harris, World Cup Action, and More | In the Building | EP. 595
Free agency is here, and In The Building wastes no time getting heated. Mike Taylor comes in exhausted after an Austin round trip, but that doesn’t stop him from unloading on the Spurs’ newest move: signing veteran forward Tobias Harris. While plenty of Spurs fans celebrated the pickup, Mike was blunt, calling Harris a solid but uninspiring veteran whose arrival does little to move San Antonio closer to a title. Rudy plays devil’s advocate, but both agree this signing says one thing loud and clear: the Spurs are running it back. The central debate becomes whether Harris actually improves the roster around Victor Wembanyama. Mike argues the Spurs still lack the physical frontcourt help they’ve needed all year, saying San Antonio needs bigger, tougher playoff-ready bodies instead of more “safe” veteran wings. The guys also debate whether the front office missed opportunities to chase bigger names like LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, or Mitchell Robinson. The conclusion? Tobias may help during the regular season, but he’s unlikely to be a major factor in high-leverage playoff minutes. Beyond Spurs talk, the show expands into NBA free-agency madness with a blockbuster rumor involving Jalen Brown heading to the Philadelphia 76ers, plus reactions to shifting power in the Eastern Conference. World Cup chatter returns as Mike and Rudy discuss dramatic late-match collapses, upcoming knockout matchups, and their usual unfiltered takes on global soccer. Add in wild listener arguments, chat-room chaos, and classic ITB banter, and Episode 595 delivers peak offseason energy. Topics Covered: Spurs sign Tobias Harris in free agency Why Mike calls the move “safe” but uninspiring Whether San Antonio improved enough to contend again Need for more size and physicality around Wemby Debate over missed opportunities for bigger free-agent swings LeBron James fantasy fit with the Spurs Jalen Brown trade shockwaves in the East World Cup late-game collapses and knockout-round drama Fan backlash and live chat debates over Spurs optimism Ready AI sponsor announcement and studio updates Key Moments: Mike calls Tobias Harris “a fart in the wind signing” Rudy says the Spurs are clearly just running it back Heated argument with fans accusing Mike of overreacting Mike admits he secretly wanted LeBron in San Antonio Live chat chaos turns into one of the funniest debates in weeks Episode 595 captures everything fans love about In The Building: passionate Spurs debates, strong opinions, hilarious arguments, and zero sugarcoating. Whether you love the Tobias Harris signing or hate it, Mike and Rudy make one thing clear: expectations in San Antonio are officially championship-level now. #GoSpursGo #SanAntonioSpurs #TobiasHarris #VictorWembanyama #Wemby #NBAFreeAgency #LeBronJames #WorldCup2026 #SpursNation #SilverAndBlack #NBATwitter #MikeTaylor #RudyJay #InTheBuildingPodcast #SportsTalk #BasketballTalk #SoccerTalk #NBAOffseason #SpursNews #SportsPodcast Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Breaking Bron news, Kawhi back to Canada, Robots getting the boot | In the Building | EP. 594
Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay kick off the show with a surprisingly deep conversation about AI, sparked by news that Ford Motor Company had to bring back hundreds of human quality inspectors after automation failed to match real-world judgment. The guys debate analytics versus intuition, arguing that no algorithm can fully replace human feel, experience, and common sense. It turns into a funny but thoughtful discussion about technology, adaptation, and why AI still needs people behind the curtain. The show then veers into classic ITB territory with World Cup chaos taking center stage. Mike and Rudy react to shocking knockout-round results, debate whether penalty shootouts are a fair way to decide matches, and build excitement for Mexico and Team USA’s next matches. Mike even shares a surprisingly wholesome story about congratulating a Moroccan tourist in downtown San Antonio after Morocco’s upset win. Between soccer takes and Cowboys training camp talk, the energy stays all over the place in the best way possible. The biggest NBA segment centers on Kawhi Leonard’s stunning return to the Toronto Raptors. Mike unloads on what he sees as another masterclass in Kawhi’s career-long hustle, breaking down how Kawhi burned bridges with the San Antonio Spurs, won a title in Toronto, left for Los Angeles, and now lands back in Canada after the Los Angeles Clippers experiment failed. The debate gets heated over whether Spurs fans would ever welcome him back, with both agreeing the wounds in San Antonio still run deep. Toss in breaking LeBron chatter, robot jokes, and sponsor shoutouts, and Episode 594 delivers another chaotic ride. Topics Covered: AI vs human judgment after Ford rehires engineers Why analytics still can’t replace intuition World Cup knockout-round chaos and upset results Debate over penalty shootouts deciding soccer matches Mexico and Team USA World Cup outlook Cowboys training camp anticipation in Oxnard Breaking LeBron James news and NBA ripple effects Kawhi Leonard traded back to the Toronto Raptors Whether Spurs fans would ever forgive Kawhi Mike’s ongoing beef with Cowboys mascot Rowdy Key Moments: Mike jokes he’s extra polite to AI “just in case they remember” Heated rant comparing soccer shootouts to deciding the NBA Finals with a three-point contest Mike unexpectedly has a wholesome moment with a Morocco fan downtown Rudy calls Kawhi one of the greatest hustlers in sports history Strong debate over whether San Antonio would ever accept Kawhi again Episode 594 is peak In The Building: part sports talk, part comedy, part existential crisis. NBA Gambling, Chris Johnson ALS, Warriors Eyeing AD & Bron | In the Building | EP. 593
LEARN MORE ABOUT THE MIKE TAYLOR BBQ ON OCT. 17TH! https://miketaylorbbq.com/ Mike Taylor returns from a beach getaway wishing he never had to work again, kicking off the show with classic ITB chaos, vacation hangover stories, and one of the most hilariously unhinged restaurant complaints yet, complete with Mike walking straight into a kitchen after waiting nearly an hour for dinner. But the tone shifts quickly when Mike and Rudy react to devastating news involving former NFL star Chris Johnson, who revealed his battle with ALS. The conversation becomes one of the most emotional moments in recent show history as the guys reflect on health, gratitude, caregiving, and how brutally unfair life can be. The show’s biggest sports controversy centers around NBA gambling, with fresh allegations involving Malik Beasley and questions about how legalized sports betting is impacting league integrity. Rudy unloads on players risking million-dollar careers over gambling schemes, while Mike questions whether the leagues themselves share responsibility for aggressively partnering with sportsbooks. The guys also dive into the Spurs re-signing Julian Champagnie, why San Antonio continues to value continuity over panic moves, and why De’Aaron Fox trade talk still feels wildly overblown. Things heat up even more when rumors surface that the Warriors could pursue both LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Mike calls the potential superteam “cheap,” comparing it to the Lakers’ Karl Malone and Gary Payton era, while Rudy debates whether age and health would still limit Golden State’s ceiling. Add in Ja Morant frustration, World Cup chatter, WNBA discussion, and updates on the Mike Taylor BBQ benefiting the San Antonio Miracle League, and Episode 593 covers just about everything. Kawhi still loves Spurs? Cowboys fed up with Guyton? The actual GOATS of sports | In the Building | EP. 592
The show opens with classic In The Building chaos before quickly jumping into a rumor nobody saw coming: could Kawhi Leonard actually want back in with the Spurs? Mike and Rudy react to reports that if Kawhi leaves the Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio is one of the only places he’d consider long-term. That sparks a heated debate between emotion and basketball logic. Mike argues a healthy Kawhi, even at limited minutes, could still help a contender, while Rudy questions whether bringing him back would disrupt the chemistry and culture of one of the NBA’s youngest cores. From there, the conversation shifts to football as the guys discuss growing concerns around Dallas Cowboys tackle Tyler Guyton. Reports that his starting job may not be secure spark a bigger conversation about accountability, competition, and whether Dallas is finally doing what fans have begged for by making roster spots truly competitive. Mike and Rudy also weigh in on coaching, training camp expectations, and whether the Cowboys can finally stop wasting good seasons from Dak Prescott. The back half of the episode turns into one of the most entertaining rabbit holes yet as Mike and Rudy attempt to settle the GOAT debate across every sport imaginable. From Lionel Messi, Michael Jordan, and Tom Brady to boxing, tennis, golf, skateboarding, and even pizza chains, the debate goes completely off the rails in peak ITB fashion. Toss in World Cup talk, WNBA takes, members-only announcements, and Mike’s charity BBQ updates, and this episode delivers everything fans love about the show. World Cup "Tea", NBA Draft Madness, & More | In the Building | EP. 591
Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay kick things off with World Cup talk, diving into Team USA’s strong group-stage position, Mexico’s win, and the growing energy around the tournament as knockout play approaches. The guys discuss how expanded group play has created some meaningless matches, but they still appreciate the culture, pageantry, and global passion that make the World Cup special. They also tackle the controversy surrounding offensive fan chants and how sports culture evolves over time. The show also spends time highlighting the upcoming Mike Taylor BBQ benefiting the San Antonio Miracle League, with Mike emphasizing that the event is about community, charity, and keeping things simple. He makes it clear this isn’t about vendors or profit, but about raising money for kids with disabilities while bringing the In The Building community together for good food and good vibes. As always, the basketball talk gets heated. The guys react to NBA draft madness and questionable front-office decisions, especially blasting the Minnesota Timberwolves for what they view as franchise-altering mistakes. Rudy unloads on bad general managers across sports, while Mike explains why Spurs fans should appreciate the rare stability and continuity San Antonio has enjoyed for decades. The conversation also touches on sports gambling, fan behavior, celebrity beefs, and classic ITB chaos. Topics Covered: Team USA’s World Cup group-stage success Mexico’s controversial fan chants during World Cup play Why expanded World Cup formats create more meaningless games Mike Taylor BBQ benefiting the San Antonio Miracle League Community support and sponsorship opportunities for the BBQ Sports gambling and fan harassment of athletes Fanatics cracking down on abusive bettors NBA Draft chaos and league-wide overreactions Minnesota Timberwolves front-office criticism Why Spurs organizational stability remains elite Key Moments: Mike hilariously misunderstands “World Cup tea” at the start of the show Rudy breaks down why knockout-stage soccer is where the real excitement begins Strong rant about gamblers sending death threats to athletes Rudy unloads on Minnesota’s front office for reckless roster moves Mike delivers another classic “People I Want to Punch” segment Episode 591 is peak In The Building: sports analysis, passionate rants, community updates, and complete chaos all rolled into one. Spurs Draft Reactions & More | In the Building | EP. 590
The draft is in the books, and while Spurs fans may not have gotten a flashy headline move, Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay see something more important: roster balance. The guys break down San Antonio drafting Jayden Quaintance and Terrace Reed, two bigs who immediately address the team’s biggest weakness after getting bullied physically during the Finals run. Mike and Rudy both agree the front office prioritized toughness, depth, and long-term development over splash. Terrace Reed gets a lot of love as a plug-and-play contributor who can rebound, defend, and provide much-needed physicality behind Victor Wembanyama. Jayden Quaintance brings more intrigue as the high-upside swing, with the only major concern being his recovery from injury. Beyond the draft, the conversation shifts to De’Aaron Fox’s future, Brian Wright’s public support of Fox and Mitch Johnson, and why Spurs fans may need to accept that this core is staying together for now. As always, the hoops talk is mixed with golf rants, TV recommendations, and completely unhinged side conversations. Topics Covered: Spurs draft Jayden Quaintance and Terrace Reed Why San Antonio prioritized size and toughness Terrace Reed as an immediate rotation piece Jayden Quaintance’s long-term upside despite injury concerns Why Victor Wembanyama needs more frontcourt help Brian Wright backing De’Aaron Fox and Mitch Johnson Why Fox trade rumors may finally need to die What You’re Watching Wednesday TV recommendations San Pedro driving range frustration Continued growth of the new Texas Cheer Liquor studio Key Moments: Mike gives the Spurs draft an early A grade Rudy says the Spurs need even more “big dudes” around Wemby Strong take that Oklahoma City remains the team to beat Mike unloads on businesses that don’t update operating hours Brutal but hilarious rant about Knicks championship behavior continues The Spurs may not have made the splashiest draft-night moves, but this episode makes one thing clear: San Antonio knows exactly what kind of team it wants to become. More size, more toughness, and more support around Wemby. If these young pieces develop, the Spurs’ championship window could stay wide open for years. #GoSpursGo #SanAntonioSpurs #SpursDraft #NBADraft #VictorWembanyama #Wemby #JaydenQuaintance #TerraceReed #DeAaronFox #SpursNation #NBAOffseason #NBATwitter #InTheBuildingPodcast #MikeTaylor #RudyJay #BasketballTalk #SportsPodcast #SilverAndBlack #SpursNews #NBAAnalysis Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. BORING Spurs Draft?, Giannis Heat, and SSE Reacts to Taylor Rant | In the Building | EP. 589
The guys kick off the show with classic In The Building chaos, somehow turning a conversation about stiff shirt collars, country music, and Tecovas into a full-blown discussion about aging, playlists, and why old-school music just hits different. Once the nonsense settles, Mike and Rudy shift into Spurs talk, where the biggest storyline is how… uneventful draft night feels compared to the last few years. After blockbuster lottery moments with Victor Wembanyama, Steph Castle, and Dylan Harper, holding the 20th pick feels almost boring by comparison. The basketball conversation ramps up with Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors dominating the NBA offseason. Mike and Rudy debate whether Miami made the right move going all-in, why Boston flirting with a Giannis deal could’ve shifted the entire NBA balance, and why Anthony Edwards may eventually need to escape Minnesota if he truly wants to win. The Spurs also stay front and center as the guys argue San Antonio may already be a top-three team in the league despite the Finals loss. One of the biggest talking points comes when Mike revisits his recent rant about Spurs Sports & Entertainment being too cheap with game-night entertainment. With SSE bringing back the Silver Dancers, the crew jokes that In The Building may have actually moved the needle. Beneath the jokes is a serious point: if the Spurs want to build a billion-dollar arena experience, the entertainment around the product has to level up too. The episode closes with World Cup excitement, wild sports rants, and classic ITB energy. Topics Covered: Why the Spurs’ 20th pick made this draft feel underwhelming Kingston Flemings becoming San Antonio’s latest basketball star to watch Giannis trade rumors involving Miami and Boston Why Anthony Edwards may eventually leave Minnesota Spurs being ranked as a potential top-three team in the NBA SSE bringing back the Silver Dancers Mike’s rant about cheap in-game entertainment World Cup fever and global soccer culture Cristiano Ronaldo criticism and legacy debate Teacher appreciation event at SAS in The Quarry Key Moments: Mike calls this Spurs draft the least exciting in years Debate over whether Miami got significantly better with Giannis Strong take that Anthony Edwards could be the next superstar to demand out Mike claims SSE may have responded directly to his entertainment rant “People I Wanna Punch” goes off on reckless motorcycle riders and Cristiano Ronaldo Even on a “boring” Spurs draft day, In The Building finds plenty to unpack. Between league-shifting trade rumors, rising expectations in San Antonio, and the never-ending debate around what the Spurs experience should look like, one thing is clear: quiet offseason days don’t stay quiet for long. #GoSpursGo #SanAntonioSpurs #SpursDraft #NBADraft #VictorWembanyama #Wemby #Giannis #GiannisAntetokounmpo #SpursNation #NBAOffseason #NBATwitter #InTheBuildingPodcast #MikeTaylor #RudyJay #WorldCup2026 #SilverDancers #SportsTalk #BasketballTalk #SilverAndBlack #SportsPodcast Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. MIKE TAYLOR BBQ 2026: LEARN MORE, REGISTER, AND DONATE: https://miketaylorbbq.com/ The Spurs offseason drama keeps getting louder, but Ron Harper isn’t letting rumors slide. Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay open the show reacting to reports that Dylan Harper’s camp wanted guarantees about a starting role, only for Ron Harper to publicly shut that narrative down. The guys debate whether the Spurs need to fast-track Harper into a starter-level role, what that means for De’Aaron Fox, and why the real issue may be coaching rotations rather than backcourt politics. Beyond basketball, the show delivers one of its biggest community announcements yet. Mike officially reveals the 2026 Mike Taylor BBQ, now moving to the San Antonio Miracle League with all proceeds benefiting children with disabilities and special needs. The conversation gets emotional as Mike and Rudy explain why this cause matters so much and how the event continues to grow into something bigger than just barbecue. Add in Giannis trade rumors, Knicks obsession with Wemby, San Antonio history talk, and classic off-the-rails banter, and this episode feels like peak ITB chaos. Topics Covered: Ron Harper denies reports that Dylan Harper demanded a starting role Whether Dylan Harper already deserves starter-level minutes De’Aaron Fox’s future with the Spurs Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors involving Boston and Miami Victor Wembanyama becoming New York’s newest villain Major announcement for the 2026 Mike Taylor BBQ San Antonio Miracle League and its impact on families Countdown to 5,000 subscribers and Rudy’s George Jefferson challenge John Garcia’s growing San Antonio history content Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones controversy and Kanye concert debate Key Moments: Ron Harper publicly calls the Dylan Harper rumor “absolute BS” Mike says Harper’s minutes issue is more about coaching than Fox Emotional discussion about special-needs families at Miracle League Rudy shares his experience volunteering with Miracle League Giannis trade speculation sparks debate about NBA power shifts Final Thoughts: This episode balances everything that makes In The Building special: Spurs analysis, big sports debates, community impact, and total unpredictability. World Cup, WNBA Talk, Floyd Mayweather & More Spurs Drama | In the Building | EP. 587
In The Building debuts from the brand-new Texas Cheer Liquor Studios, and the new setup comes with the same old chaos. Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay open the show joking about moving, studio life, and Mike immediately regretting wearing shorts on camera before shifting into the latest Spurs offseason drama. With the Finals barely in the rearview, the conversation quickly turns toward the growing tension surrounding De’Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper, and what the Spurs’ future backcourt should actually look like. The biggest topic centers on reports from Michael C. Wright suggesting the Spurs remain committed to De’Aaron Fox as their starting point guard, while Dylan Harper’s camp is reportedly pushing for Harper to start next season. Mike and Rudy unpack what that means for Spurs culture, whether the organization should prioritize hierarchy or talent, and why Harper’s rapid rise may have accelerated tough roster decisions. The guys also branch out into World Cup energy, WNBA discourse, Floyd Mayweather talk, and broader conversations about modern sports culture, all with the classic ITB mix of strong opinions and humor. Topics Covered: New Texas Cheer Liquor Studios debut Michael C. Wright’s report on De’Aaron Fox’s future Dylan Harper’s camp pushing for a starting role Whether the Spurs should trade De’Aaron Fox Mitch Johnson’s handling of young players under scrutiny Spurs culture vs modern NBA player empowerment World Cup excitement and global soccer energy WNBA discourse and media narratives Floyd Mayweather headlines and combat sports talk Why the Spurs may need major roster changes this offseason Key Moments: Mike calls the Harper-Fox situation “rich man problems” for San Antonio Strong debate over whether Harper or Fox should start next season Rudy argues Harper already earned starter status during the Finals Mike questions whether modern Spurs culture can survive player camps making demands The crew reflects on how quickly the Spurs became a drama-heavy NBA franchise Final Thoughts: The Spurs’ championship window may still be opening, but the easy part is over. Talent creates expectations, expectations create pressure, and pressure creates difficult decisions. This episode captures that reality perfectly as San Antonio transitions from rebuilding project to full-blown contender with real roster dilemmas ahead. #GoSpursGo #SanAntonioSpurs #VictorWembanyama #Wemby #DylanHarper #DeAaronFox #StephCastle #WorldCup2026 #WNBA #FloydMayweather #SpursNation #NBAOffseason #NBATwitter #InTheBuildingPodcast #MikeTaylor #RudyJay #SportsTalk #BasketballTalk #SilverAndBlack #SportsPodcast Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Brunson Burner, Spurs Fans Come After Mike, & WNBA Talk | In the Building | EP. 586
The Finals may be over, but the emotions in San Antonio are nowhere near settled. Mike Taylor opens the show reading messages from Spurs fans who came after him for easing up on De’Aaron Fox, with reactions ranging from frustration to full-on personal attacks. Mike and Rudy unpack how quickly the city turned on Fox, whether the criticism has gone too far, and what the guard’s long-term future in San Antonio actually looks like after a brutal Finals performance. The conversation expands into the Knicks’ championship parade, where Jalen Brunson continues embracing his villain arc while New York fans somehow keep Victor Wembanyama at the center of the celebration. From there, the guys bounce into World Cup fever, soccer culture, media narratives, and a passionate discussion about why American sports reward mediocrity. The episode also tees up a bigger WNBA conversation, with Mike promising more on that front in the next show. Classic ITB: hoops, chaos, and plenty of smoke. Topics Covered: Spurs fans unloading on Mike over De’Aaron Fox takes Whether Fox still fits the Spurs’ long-term future Mike Finger’s column suggesting Fox could be traded Jalen Brunson’s championship parade comments and “villain” energy Knicks fans still obsessed with Victor Wembanyama Why Dylan Harper’s Finals breakout intensified Fox criticism World Cup energy taking over North America Cristiano Ronaldo and aging superstars refusing to step aside Thierry Henry and Alexi Lalas WNBA/soccer broadcast debate Why American sports reward losing teams through draft structure Key Moments: Mike reads brutal fan comments calling him soft for defending Fox Rudy argues Dylan Harper’s emergence made Fox’s struggles look even worse Mike compares Fox’s Finals to a “breakfast ball” and says he deserves one more year Strong rant about promotion/relegation and why American sports reward mediocrity Rudy and Mike go off on World Cup culture and why North America is built for global events Final Thoughts: This episode captures exactly where Spurs fans are emotionally: frustrated, divided, but still hopeful. The Fox debate isn’t going away anytime soon, but beneath all the anger is a shared belief that Victor Wembanyama, Steph Castle, and Dylan Harper still give San Antonio one of the brightest futures in basketball. #GoSpursGo #SanAntonioSpurs #VictorWembanyama #Wemby #DeAaronFox #JalenBrunson #BrunsonBurner #StephCastle #DylanHarper #WNBA #WorldCup2026 #SpursNation #NBATwitter #NBAOffseason #InTheBuildingPodcast #MikeTaylor #RudyJay #BasketballTalk #SportsPodcast #SilverAndBlack Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay welcome back Dr. Thomas Gianis of the Medical Vein Clinic to discuss Wemby's conditioning, recovery, cardiovascular demands, and the reality of being a 7-foot-5 superstar asked to carry a franchise on both ends of the floor. The discussion provides a fascinating medical perspective on why Wembanyama appeared fatigued late in the Finals and what his physical development could look like over the next several years. The guys also revisit the fallout from the Finals loss, including the national criticism aimed at De’Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama. San Antonio Spurs are on DEATH ROW | In the Building | EP. 578
After sleeping on the Game 2 loss, Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay return for a Saturday matinee edition of In The Building to unpack everything surrounding the Spurs falling into a 0-2 hole against the Knicks. The mood is calmer than the night before, but the reality is still setting in: San Antonio is heading to Madison Square Garden fighting to keep the season alive. The guys debate whether the Spurs’ youth is a valid excuse, especially considering most of the Knicks roster has never played in the Finals either. They discuss Victor Wembanyama admitting the game felt “blurry” late, Steph Castle’s nonstop intensity, Dylan Harper emerging as one of the best players in the series, and the glaring roster issues that Brian Wright will have to address this offseason. Mike and Rudy also talk about Knicks fans invading San Antonio, ridiculous Finals ticket prices, referee controversy, Mitch Johnson’s rotation decisions, Aaron Donald hinting at an NFL comeback with Myles Garrett, and Texas softball winning another national championship. Plus, another hilarious “People I Want to Punch” segment featuring Rick Brunson and De’Aaron Fox. What started as another gutsy comeback ended with frustration, disbelief, and hard truths about where the Spurs really stand against a loaded Knicks squad. Mike and Rudy give the Knicks full credit for looking like the more complete team through two games. They break down New York’s elite half-court offense, physical defense, and why guys like Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, and Karl-Anthony Towns are outplaying San Antonio’s supporting cast. The conversation eventually circles back to Victor Wembanyama, who struggled through long stretches before missing key shots late and committing a costly turnover in the final moments. The guys also dive into De’Aaron Fox’s inconsistency, Steph Castle’s exhaustion, Mitch Johnson’s shortened rotation, and the Spurs’ lack of dependable depth as the Finals grind on. NBA FINALS | Spurs vs Knicks Game 1: Post Game Show | In The Building
Spurs vs Knicks FINALS Game 1: Post Game Show In The Building | Mike Taylor & Rudy Jay The NBA Finals are officially underway, and Game 1 did not go the way San Antonio hoped. In this intense and emotional postgame episode of In The Building, Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay react LIVE after the Spurs fall to the New York Knicks 105-95 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. What started as a promising night inside the Frost Bank Center quickly turned into frustration as the Knicks outworked, outcoached, and outlasted San Antonio in crunch time. The crew breaks down everything that went wrong for the Spurs, including Victor Wembanyama’s difficult night offensively, De’Aaron Fox’s disastrous performance, and Mitch Johnson’s controversial late-game coaching decisions. They also dive deep into Dylan Harper’s breakout performance and why the rookie should have been on the floor to close the game after clearly being the Spurs’ best player for stretches of the night. Mike and Rudy give major credit to Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, who completely shifted the momentum of the series with tough, physical basketball and elite late-game execution. Brunson, despite suffering multiple injuries during the game, returned twice and delivered a legendary Finals performance that silenced the San Antonio crowd and stunned Spurs fans watching at home. The conversation also turns toward the overwhelming number of Knicks fans inside the arena, with the crew venting about San Antonio fans being priced out of Finals tickets and how the atmosphere felt more like Madison Square Garden South than a true Spurs home game. Throughout the episode, emotions run high as Mike delivers one of the angriest postgame reactions of the season, calling out: Mitch Johnson’s rotation decisions Dylan Harper being benched late De’Aaron Fox playing 38 minutes despite struggling The Spurs’ lack of rebounding and physicality Defensive mismatches against Jalen Brunson Luke Kornet’s inability to impact the series The crowd being overrun by Knicks fans The team’s lack of urgency in key moments Topics Covered: Spurs vs Knicks NBA Finals Game 1 reaction Full postgame breakdown and analysis Victor Wembanyama’s struggles Dylan Harper’s breakout performance Why Mitch Johnson is taking heat from Spurs fans Jalen Brunson’s huge Finals performance Karl-Anthony Towns dominating inside De’Aaron Fox criticism Knicks fans taking over the Frost Bank Center Coaching adjustments needed for Game 2 Spurs defensive breakdowns Why Game 2 is already a must-win Finals atmosphere in San Antonio NBA Finals overreactions and predictions Key Moments: Mike calls Mitch Johnson’s fourth quarter coaching “pussy coaching” Rudy Jay says the Knicks are simply “dogs” The crew debates whether Dylan Harper should start Game 2 Multiple rants about De’Aaron Fox’s inconsistency Discussion about Victor Wembanyama needing to “hate” the Knicks moving forward Fans running onto the court becomes one of the wildest moments of the night Mike compares the atmosphere to a New York road game Final Thoughts: Game 1 exposed several problems for the Spurs, but the series is far from over. The Knicks landed the first punch behind veteran toughness, elite guard play, and disciplined defense, while San Antonio struggled to find consistency late in the game. Now the pressure shifts squarely onto the Spurs heading into a massive Game 2. #SanAntonioSpurs #NBAFinals #Spurs #VictorWembanyama #JalenBrunson #Knicks #NBAPodcast #BasketballPodcast #InTheBuilding #NBA #SpursNation #Wemby #SportsPodcast #Game1 #NBAPlayoffs #GoSpursGo Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. San Antonio Spurs vs Timberwolves Game 5 Post Game Show | In The Building | Mike Taylor & Rudy Jay
IN THE BUILDING | Spurs vs. Timberwolves Game 5 POST-GAME REACTION | 2026 NBA Playoffs Western Conference Semifinals Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay are back LIVE with your full post-game breakdown from Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The series is tied 2-2, Wembanyama is back, the Frost Bank Center crowd is unhinged, and everything is on the line tonight in San Antonio. We have got the full reaction, the biggest moments, and everything you need to know heading into a potential Game 6 in Minnesota. WHERE THIS SERIES STANDS This has been one of the most compelling playoff series in recent memory and Game 4 was the wildest chapter yet. Victor Wembanyama was ejected early in the second quarter after throwing an elbow that connected with Naz Reid's neck, drawing an automatic Flagrant 2 disqualification with roughly 32 minutes still left in the game. The crowd at Target Center went wild when he walked off — and what happened next was nothing short of remarkable. Dylan Harper and De'Aaron Fox each scored 24 points and Stephon Castle added 20 as the Spurs guards refused to fold, turning the rest of the night into a midrange clinic and actually building an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter without their franchise cornerstone. They nearly pulled it off without him. Anthony Edwards had other ideas. He finished with 36 points including 16 in the fourth quarter, hitting a 27-footer to spark a 12-3 run that flipped the game before Minnesota closed it out 114-109 to even the series at two games apiece. THE WEMBY SITUATION HEADING INTO TONIGHT The NBA determined not to add further punishment beyond the ejection itself, so Wembanyama was cleared to play in Game 5. Both De'Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper were listed as questionable heading into tonight — Fox with an ankle injury after being landed on by Ayo Dosunmu in Game 4, and Harper with left knee soreness — but both were officially available after making it through pregame warmups. The winner of this series faces the Oklahoma City Thunder, who swept the Los Angeles Lakers in four games and have been waiting on deck. The stakes could not be any higher. A trip to the Western Conference Finals is on the line tonight in San Antonio. THE BIG PICTURE This Spurs team was supposed to be building for the future. Instead they are one win away from the Conference Finals with their franchise player healthy and back in the lineup and the home crowd behind them. Wembanyama is averaging 18.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game in the series, while Edwards is averaging 25.8 points on the other side. Two of the most exciting players on the planet, a series tied at two, winner take the momentum. This is what the NBA playoffs are made for. SUBSCRIBE AND HIT THE BELL — We are going LIVE after EVERY San Antonio Spurs playoff game this postseason. Don't miss a single take, breakdown, or debate. Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay will be here every step of the way on the road to a championship. Drop your thoughts in the comments — Did the Spurs reclaim home court? Is Wemby back to full force tonight? San Antonio Spurs vs Timberwolves Game 4 Post Game Show | In The Building | Mike Taylor & Rudy Jay
IN THE BUILDING | Spurs vs. Timberwolves Game 4 POST-GAME REACTION | 2026 NBA Playoffs Western Conference Semifinals Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay are back LIVE with your full post-game breakdown from Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Spurs came into tonight leading this series 2-1 with a chance to put Minnesota's back against the wall on their home floor — and the entire basketball world is watching. We have got the full reaction, the biggest plays, and everything you need to know heading into Game 5. WHERE THIS SERIES STANDS The Spurs have won two straight and all the momentum is on San Antonio's side. Victor Wembanyama delivered an absolute masterpiece in Game 3 — 39 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks — as the Spurs took a 115-108 victory in Minneapolis to seize the series lead. He went 13-of-18 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the line while his presence in the paint was suffocating all night. Only Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had put up those numbers in a postseason game before Friday night — and Wembanyama got there faster than any of them, in just his seventh playoff game. We are watching something generational happen in real time. Stephon Castle quietly put together one of the most efficient games of his young playoff career in Game 3, finishing with 13 points, 12 assists, and a team-high plus-17 rating, while De'Aaron Fox added 17 points. On the other side, Jaden McDaniels and Julius Randle combined to shoot just 8-of-34 from the floor, unable to get anything going against Wembanyama's rim protection. Minnesota comes into tonight desperate. Anthony Edwards gave them everything he had in the loss — 32 points and 14 rebounds — and it still was not enough. Edwards hit a buzzer-beating 31-footer to end the first quarter, and the Wolves clawed back from missing their first 12 shots of the game to tie it at halftime, but San Antonio pulled away in the third quarter by going 6-of-10 from three. THE INJURY FACTOR Minnesota is playing shorthanded and they have been all series. Anthony Edwards has been battling a knee injury that sidelined him late in the Denver series, and his status has been a question mark heading into every game. The Wolves need him healthy and they need more from the players around him. Naz Reid has been their best secondary option, but it has not been nearly enough against this Spurs defense. ONE WIN FROM THE CONFERENCE FINALS This Spurs team has answered every challenge thrown at them. They dropped Game 1 at home and responded with a 38-point blowout. They went into Minneapolis for Games 3 and 4 and took control of the series. Since losing back-to-back games in January, the Spurs went 40-9 — the equivalent of a 69-win season — and that same resiliency has defined every moment of this postseason run. The Western Conference Finals are within reach. One more win and this young Spurs team makes history. SUBSCRIBE AND HIT THE BELL — We are going LIVE after EVERY San Antonio Spurs playoff game this postseason. Don't miss a single take, breakdown, or debate. San Antonio Spurs vs Timberwolves Game 3 Post Game Show | In The Building | Mike Taylor & Rudy Jay
IN THE BUILDING | Spurs vs. Timberwolves Game 3 POST-GAME REACTION | 2026 NBA Playoffs Western Conference Semifinals Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay are back LIVE with your full post-game breakdown from Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The series is tied 1-1 and the action has shifted to Target Center in Minneapolis — the Spurs are on the road looking to steal one in enemy territory. We have got the full reaction, the biggest plays, and everything you need to know about where this series stands heading into Game 4. WHERE THIS SERIES STANDS This series has been a wild ride already and we are only two games in. The Spurs came out of Game 2 swinging, handing the Timberwolves a 133-95 blowout that inflicted the worst playoff loss in Minnesota franchise history. Victor Wembanyama finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds while Stephon Castle led the team with 21 points and De'Aaron Fox added 16. Minnesota was held to just 35 points in the first half of Game 2, shooting 29.8% from the field and going 2-for-15 from three before falling behind by 25 at the break. Head coach Chris Finch had seen enough: "I just told them we got punked." Before that, the Timberwolves stole Game 1 on the road 104-102 despite Wembanyama setting an NBA playoff single-game record with 12 blocked shots, with Anthony Edwards coming off the bench to deliver 18 points including 11 in the fourth quarter. One game for each team and everything to play for tonight in Minnesota. THE INJURY FACTOR The Timberwolves were already monitoring Anthony Edwards' knee coming into this series, and Ayo Dosunmu suffered a right heel injury in Game 2, playing only seven minutes before sitting down. Minnesota's depth is being tested in a major way, and how banged up they are tonight may be the deciding factor in whether the Spurs can take control of this series on the road. THE RESILIENCY OF THIS SPURS TEAM The Spurs had not lost two consecutive games since back in January, and since that stretch they went 40-9 — the equivalent of a 69-win regular season. Young or not, Wembanyama and his teammates have already developed a resiliency that can serve a team with championship dreams well. San Antonio came into this postseason without much playoff experience, and they have answered every test thrown at them. Losing Game 1 at home, bouncing back with a 38-point blowout, and now taking their show on the road for the first time in this series. This is what building a championship culture looks like. Drop your thoughts in the comments — Can the Spurs steal one in Minnesota? San Antonio Spurs vs Timberwolves Game 2 Post Game Show | In The Building | Mike Taylor & Rudy Jay
Game 2 tips off tonight at 9:30 PM ET on ESPN, still at Frost Bank Center. Here's the description ready to go the moment the buzzer sounds — plug in the final score and any standout moments: IN THE BUILDING | Spurs vs. Timberwolves Game 2 POST-GAME REACTION | 2026 NBA Playoffs Western Conference Semifinals Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay are back LIVE with your full post-game breakdown from Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The San Antonio Spurs came into tonight down 0-1 with their backs against the wall at home — a must-win situation in front of the Frost Bank Center crowd. We have got the full reaction, the biggest adjustments, and everything you need to know heading into Game 3 in Minnesota. HOW WE GOT HERE The Timberwolves came into San Antonio and stole Game 1, 104-102, with Julius Randle leading the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Anthony Edwards came off the bench and delivered a surprise 18-point performance. Victor Wembanyama was nothing short of historic in the loss — setting an NBA playoff single-game record with 12 blocked shots — but it came with a brutal offensive night. He and De'Aaron Fox combined for just 21 points on 10-of-31 shooting and missed all 12 of their three-point attempts. Wemby broke a record and still lost. That is the kind of series this is shaping up to be. The Spurs had a chance to steal it anyway. Julian Champagnie had a clean look at the buzzer to win the game, but it did not fall, and Minnesota walked out of San Antonio with the series lead despite shooting only 12-of-21 from the free-throw line. THE ADJUSTMENT THE SPURS NEEDED The Spurs do not need a new identity. They need their two best offensive players to make normal shots and stop giving away possessions. Wembanyama and Fox combined for nine turnovers in Game 1, and that, more than anything, is what gave Minnesota enough breathing room to escape with the win. The biggest advantage San Antonio has entering tonight is the fact that Game 1 was right there even with the worst offensive version of Wembanyama and Fox. If either star is closer to their normal level, the math changes fast. THE ANTHONY EDWARDS QUESTION Edwards was supposed to be limited, maybe even unavailable for this series. Instead he came off the bench in Game 1, played over 25 minutes, scored 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting, and put up 11 points in the fourth quarter alone. The Spurs built a gameplan around a hobbled Edwards, and he made them pay. The question tonight is whether he gets more run, and whether San Antonio has an answer if he does. THE HISTORY BETWEEN THESE TWO FRANCHISES The Spurs and Timberwolves have met in the playoffs twice before — in 1999 and 2001 — with San Antonio winning both series 3-1, featuring the Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett era on each side. This generation has a chance to write its own chapter. But first, they have to win tonight. San Antonio Spurs vs Timberwolves Game 1 Post Game Show | In The Building | Mike Taylor & Rudy Jay
Game 1 tips off tonight at 9:30 PM ET on Peacock. Here's the description ready to go live the moment the final buzzer sounds — just plug in the score and standout moments: IN THE BUILDING | Spurs vs. Timberwolves Game 1 POST-GAME REACTION | 2026 NBA Playoffs Western Conference Semifinals Mike Taylor and Rudy Jay are back LIVE with your full post-game breakdown from Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The San Antonio Spurs are on to the second round for the first time since 2017, and tonight they opened up at home against a battle-tested Minnesota Timberwolves team at Frost Bank Center. We have got the full reaction, the biggest storylines, and everything you need to know heading into Game 1. THE MATCHUP NOBODY SAW COMING The ascendant San Antonio Spurs dispatched the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round, earning their first playoff series win since 2017. Now they face a battle-tested Timberwolves team that upset the third-seeded Denver Nuggets despite being ravaged by injuries. This is experience versus youth. Depth versus determination. And it is happening right here in San Antonio with home-court advantage on the Spurs' side. Minnesota is seeking their third straight trip to the Western Conference Finals, going 49-33 in the regular season and proving once again they know how to compete when the stakes are highest. This is not a team that rolls over — the Wolves just knocked off the best offense in basketball. THE INJURY CLOUD OVER MINNESOTA Anthony Edwards' status is the most interesting storyline of this series. He has been cleared for on-court activity after suffering a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise against Denver and was listed as questionable for Game 1. Donte DiVincenzo will miss the entire series after tearing his Achilles in round one. If Edwards and Dosunmu sit, the key question for Minnesota becomes where they get their offense from. Against Denver, it came from Jaden McDaniels, who is emerging as a genuine star in these playoffs, averaging 17.8 points per game on 49.4% shooting from the field in the postseason. THE STORYLINE EVERYONE IS WATCHING — WEMBY VS. GOBERT Rudy Gobert has been mentoring Victor Wembanyama since his prodigy was a high schooler. They now battle each other for a chance at a title. Two of the most dominant big men in the game, two former Defensive Players of the Year, and one of the most compelling individual matchups the Western Conference has to offer. Minnesota head coach Chris Finch could elect to put Gobert on Castle to allow him to roam the paint as a rim protector, put Julius Randle on Wembanyama — a matchup that gave Wembanyama issues in the regular season — and assign McDaniels to De'Aaron Fox. Or he could just put Gobert directly on Wembanyama after his dominant performance on Nikola Jokic in round one. Either way, Wemby will have no easy nights in this series. THE HISTORY BETWEEN THESE TWO FRANCHISES The Spurs and Timberwolves have only met twice in the playoffs, both times in the first round — in 1999 and 2001. San Antonio won both series 3-1, with Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett as the stars on each side. This is a new era, a new generation, and a much bigger stage. The Western Conference Semifinals is uncharted territory for this Spurs core. SUBSCRIBE AND HIT THE BELL — We are going LIVE after EVERY San Antonio Spurs playoff game this postseason.
