Nobody Knows What The F*ck They're Doing
Have you ever looked around at your life and had the distinct, sinking feeling that you are just winging it? This episode tackles the universal fear that we're all just tall kids with credit cards, pretending to have it figured out. We explore how the pressure to be perfect—the perfect parent, the perfect friend, the life of the party—is a cage. Through two deeply personal stories, one about navigating a teenage daughter's five-alarm emotional crisis and another about standing sober in the middle of a music festival, we discover a liberating, universal truth: Nobody knows what the f*ck they're doing. And the sooner we admit that, the sooner we can all take a deep breath and find freedom in the mess. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why the feeling that you're "winging it" is a universal human experience, not a personal failure. How admitting "I don't know" during a parenting crisis can be the most powerful and connecting thing you can do. A lesson from a sober rave on the difference between performing confidence and finding genuine, quiet peace. How to redefine confidence not as knowing everything, but as the courage to handle not knowing. The freedom of "good enough" and how to stop fighting the season of life you're in. The secret isn't to finally have all the answers; it's to realize that nobody else does either, and we're all just walking each other home. Join the Conversation I'd love to hear from you. What's a moment that made you realize nobody really has it all figured out? Drop your story in the comments. Let's remind each other that we're not alone in this beautiful, chaotic mess.

This Too Shall Pass
A few mornings ago, I grabbed my running shoe and the inside of the heel was flipped up. It said: This Too Shall Pass. I'd worn those shoes dozens of times and never noticed it — but on that morning, when I was carrying something heavy, it was exactly the reminder I needed. In this episode, I'm sharing that moment and everything it stirred up in me. We're talking about self-doubt — that quiet voice that tells you you're not strong enough or steady enough or brave enough to get through what's in front of you. And I want to offer you one question to carry with you: What's the hardest thing you've ever been through? Because when you really sit with the answer, you start to realize — you've already survived things you never thought you'd survive. And the same strength that got you through those days is still inside you right now. I also talk about finding your tribe — the people who can climb your mountain with you without getting swallowed by the emotion of it. When I was going through my separation, I built a circle around me: a therapist, a reiki master, a life coach, my yoga instructor, my trainer, and my friends and family. They carried me through days I didn't think I'd get through. Not because it was their mountain — it was mine. But they climbed it with me anyway. We talk about trusting your gut, borrowing perspective when you can't find your own, and why sometimes you just need to look at the evidence of your own history and remember: you can do hard things. You already have. And whatever you're waking up to right now — this too shall pass.

You're Not Burnt Out By The World. You're Burnt Out By What You Allow In.
You keep waiting for life to slow down so you can finally take care of yourself. When the phone stops ringing. When the alerts stop piling up. When everyone in your life is okay. And Katie needs you to hear something: that day is not coming. Life isn't going to slow down so you can catch your breath. You have to be the one who stops. This episode is an invitation — the softest, most honest one Katie has ever offered — to put the fucking phone down, get your feet in the grass, and stop waiting for permission that no one is coming to give you. Inside: the difference between looking and seeing, the famous Zen saying that flips "I'm too busy" on its head, the spiritual exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix, what happens when Katie falls off her morning routine, and the Mother's Day walk where a baby woodpecker became the exact sign she needed. This one is for the person who's been running on empty and calling it discipline. You always, always have a seat at my table. If this episode landed for you — share it with someone who needs permission to slow down today.

Average is Contagious | Why You Keep Falling Off
You already know the things that make you feel good. You've felt the difference. You've seen what happens when you're on your game — when you're showing up, when you're aligned, when you're actually living the way you say you want to live. And then somehow… you fall off. Again. Not because you don't care. Not because you're lazy. But because average is contagious — and you've been breathing it in from the people, patterns, and environments around you without even realizing it. In this episode, I'm breaking down why consistency falls apart, why the people around you have more influence on your behavior than your willpower ever will, and why "falling off" isn't a personal failure — it's a predictable outcome of proximity. If you've ever felt like you're constantly starting over, this one is going to hit. You are not broken. You are not lazy. But you may be surrounded. Ego, Emotional Regulation & the Story You're Telling Yourself
You think you're upset because of what happened. You're not. You're upset because of the story your ego just wrote about what it means about you. In this episode, I'm getting personal. I'm telling you about two moments that cracked me open — one was negative feedback about this very podcast that I couldn't shake, and the other was a real estate listing I lost after two and a half years of investment. Both times, I thought I was just upset. But underneath? It was ego. And once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it. We're talking about the quiet, ordinary places ego shows up that you never catch. The dinner decision. The fight where neither person remembers what they're fighting about. The moment feedback lands and your body goes tight before your brain has even decided if it's true. We're walking through the full chain — how ego interprets an event as a personal threat, how emotion floods in before you can think, how you react from inside a fog you don't even know you're in, and how to find the gap between what hits you and what you do next. This isn't about being calm or unbothered. It's about the pause. The two seconds where you ask yourself — is this about what happened, or is this about what my ego is making it mean about me? That question changes everything. If you've ever reacted to something and then cringed later — if you've ever lost a relationship, a friendship, or a version of yourself because you needed to be right — this one's for you.

No Refunds: A People Pleasing Episode
I used to be the person who would get charged the wrong amount at a store… and still pay it. Smile, say nothing, walk out. Not because I didn't notice—but because I didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable. And that pattern didn't stop at the register. It showed up everywhere. The plans I didn't want to make. The favors I said yes to when I was already exhausted. The moments where every part of me was screaming no—and I smiled and said "of course." I called it being a good person. It wasn't. It was people-pleasing. And I had no idea what it was quietly costing me. In this episode of Inward, we're getting honest about the hidden toll of never standing your ground—and what begins to shift when you finally do. Not in big, dramatic moments, but in the small, everyday decisions that slowly bring you back to yourself. I share personal stories—from my own struggles with boundaries to a moment with my son that completely reframed what it means to stand firm without apology. We talk about the conditioning that keeps us prioritizing other people's comfort over our own truth, how resentment builds when we abandon ourselves, and why saying "no" is not selfish—it's necessary. This conversation goes deeper, too. Into the moments where staying quiet isn't just uncomfortable—it's self-abandonment. And how reclaiming your voice, even slowly, even imperfectly, is how you rebuild trust with yourself. If you've ever felt exhausted from overgiving, disconnected from your own life, or unsure how to start choosing yourself—this episode is for you. Because standing your ground isn't about becoming someone else. It's about finally coming home to who you are.

Why High Achievers Struggle With Anxiety (Even When Life Looks Perfect)
You've never missed a deadline. You're always prepared. You show up, you deliver, and everyone around you sees someone who has it together. But when was the last time your mind was actually quiet? In this episode of Inward, I'm talking about something I lived for years without having a name for it — high-functioning anxiety. It doesn't look like panic attacks or paralysis. It looks like drive. It looks like responsibility. And it gets praised, promoted, and rewarded — which is exactly why it's so hard to see. But here's what I know: functioning and flourishing are not the same thing. We get into: Why high-functioning anxiety is the mental health struggle hiding in plain sight — and why you may never have recognized it in yourself The "hum" — the low, steady background noise of constant preparation, planning, and worry that you've probably just called your personality The real cost of this pattern (hint: it's not your productivity — it's your presence) How your brain decided that slowing down was dangerous — and why it's still running that program even when you're safe The difference between being driven and being chased Three specific signals your anxiety may be sending you right now Where to start if any of this is landing for you This isn't a diagnosis. I'm a certified life coach, not a therapist. But this is an honest conversation — the kind I wish someone had with me a long time ago. If you've ever sat in a beautiful moment and noticed your mind was already somewhere else... this one's for you. IN THIS EPISODE: [00:00] Welcome + What You'll Hear Today The "hum" — what high-functioning anxiety actually feels like Why it's so hard to see when it looks like success The presence problem: functioning vs. flourishing How this pattern was formed — and why it's still running What your anxiety might actually be trying to tell you Three signals worth paying attention to Where to start: noticing, stillness, and a different question Closing invitation: feel your life while you're living it THE QUESTION TO SIT WITH: "What is this anxiety protecting me from having to feel?" The Achievement Trap: Why Success Doesn't Feel Like Enough
You got the job. You hit the goal. You built the life that, on paper, looks exactly like success. So why doesn't it feel like enough? In this episode of Inward, certified life coach Katie Edmonds breaks down the Achievement Trap — the invisible cycle that keeps high achievers striving, succeeding, and still feeling empty. If you've ever stood at the top of something you worked incredibly hard for and felt nothing, this one is for you. What We Cover What the Achievement Trap actually is — and why it's not a personal failing The psychology behind it — how the hedonic treadmill keeps moving the goalposts no matter how much you accomplish 4 signs you're caught in it — including ones that look exactly like drive and ambition What it's really costing you — beyond the emptiness, what disconnection looks like in everyday life How to start finding your way out — turning inward, asking better questions, and redefining what "enough" actually means for you Reflection Question From This Episode If nothing in your external life changed — same job, same income, same status — what would you need to feel genuinely fulfilled? Sit with that one. Really. This Episode Is for You If… You feel most like yourself when you're working toward something — and vaguely anxious when you're not You struggle to celebrate your wins before moving the goalposts Your sense of worth fluctuates with your performance You're present in the good moments — but not really there Connect + Go Deeper If this episode resonated, share it with someone in your life who looks like they have it all together but might be asking the same quiet questions. 🎙️ Subscribe to Inward — new episodes every week, always an invitation to turn inward and reconnect with who you actually are.

In this deeply reflective episode of Inward, Katie Edmonds explores the hidden patterns behind why so many of us struggle to build healthy boundaries. If you constantly find yourself overgiving, overthinking, carrying the emotional weight, and still walking away feeling unseen or burned out—this conversation is for you. Katie breaks down the truth that it's not always about "attracting the wrong people," but about what we've learned to tolerate, normalize, and make space for. She dives into how childhood emotional environments shape the roles we unconsciously step into as adults—the fixer, the peacemaker, the one who holds everything together—and how these roles, while once protective, can now keep you stuck in draining relationship dynamics. This episode gently challenges you to look inward, not with judgment, but with awareness. Because overgiving isn't just generosity—it can be a survival strategy rooted in fear, self-abandonment, and the need to earn love or safety. Katie walks you through the difference between intensity and true intimacy, and reminds you that healthy relationships are built on clarity, mutual effort, and emotional safety—not exhaustion. If you've ever felt like you have to earn your place in someone's life, this episode will help you begin rewriting that belief and reconnecting with your own needs, voice, and worth. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why you keep repeating the same relationship patterns The difference between attracting vs. allowing unhealthy dynamics How overgiving is often rooted in anxiety and survival, not just kindness The roles you may be unconsciously playing in relationships (fixer, peacemaker, caretaker) Why intensity is not the same as intimacy How to recognize when you're abandoning yourself to stay connected What healthy relationships actually feel like How boundaries bring you back to your power, clarity, and self-respect Key Takeaways: You are not broken—you may be repeating a learned pattern Familiar does not always mean healthy You don't have to earn love by overextending yourself Boundaries are not about control—they are about clarity and self-respect Healing is learning to stay connected to yourself while in relationship with others Powerful Reminders from This Episode: "I do not have to abandon myself to stay connected." "The right relationships will not ask me to earn what should be given freely." Call to Action: If this episode resonated with you, share it with someone who may need this reminder. Is Attachment Ruining Your Life?
In this episode, we're talking about the subtle trap of attachment and how it creates suffering in everyday life. So often, we think our stress is coming from what's happening around us—but a lot of the time, it's actually coming from how tightly we're holding on. Whether it's attachment to a relationship, a result, a plan, or the way someone responds to us, that grip can leave us anxious, frustrated, and emotionally exhausted. This conversation is a practical look at what attachment really sounds like in real life, how it affects your peace, and what it looks like to let go without becoming disconnected or careless. If you've been overthinking, feeling disappointed, replaying situations in your head, or struggling when life doesn't go the way you hoped, this episode will help you reflect on where attachment may be creating unnecessary heaviness. In this episode, we cover • The difference between caring and gripping • How attachment shows up in everyday life • Why expectations create emotional tension • The hidden stress of trying to control outcomes • How attachment becomes tied to identity and self-worth • A personal reflection from running a Spartan race • What letting go actually means in a practical way • How to catch attachment in real time • Simple mindset shifts that create more peace and stability You can care deeply without needing everything to go a certain way. A lot of suffering comes from trying to control outcomes, people, and timing. The more you loosen your grip, the lighter life begins to feel. If this episode resonated with you, share it with someone who has been carrying the weight of trying to control everything. It may be the reminder they need. Be sure to follow the podcast so you never miss a new episode, and share this episode on social media if it spoke to you. This episode is a reminder that peace often comes when we stop forcing life to match the picture in our heads. The more gently you hold things, the more freedom you create for yourself.

Why Is Consistency So Hard?
Why don't we do the things that make us feel good? You've felt the difference. You know what helps. And still… it's hard to stay consistent. In this episode, we're talking about the gap between knowing what makes you feel better and actually doing it regularly. Why it's so easy to fall out of habits that support you, and why getting back into them feels harder than it should. This isn't about discipline or doing more. It's about understanding what's really getting in the way—and how to make coming back to yourself feel easier. In this episode, we talk about: • Why you stop doing things that make you feel good • The hidden pull toward what's easy and immediate • Why starting feels harder than continuing • How perfection quietly keeps you stuck • The small decisions that lead to falling out of rhythm • Making habits easier to return to (not harder to maintain) • Letting go of all-or-nothing thinking • Building consistency without pressure Key takeaway: You don't need a perfect routine. You just need to come back—again and again—to what helps you feel better. Try this: Next time you're about to skip something that usually helps you, pause and ask: "Would I feel better if I did this?" Then take one small step. Not the full version—just enough to begin. If this episode resonated, share it with someone who might need the reminder.

I Know It's Bad For Me....Why Do I Still Do It?
If you've ever found yourself reaching for something you know doesn't make you feel good—food, alcohol, scrolling, gossip, numbing habits—and then asking, "Why do I keep doing this?"… this episode is for you. In today's conversation, Katie explores the deeper truth behind why we continue to ingest things that drain us, even when we know better. This isn't about lack of discipline. It's about how we're wired, what we're actually craving beneath the surface, and how our daily inputs shape who we are and how we show up. Through a personal story, real science, and grounded reflection, you'll begin to understand the patterns that keep you stuck—and how to gently shift them without shame or extremes. This episode will help you reconnect with yourself, rebuild awareness, and start making choices that actually support the way you want to feel. What You'll Hear in This Episode: • Why we keep going back to things that make us feel worse • The role dopamine plays in habits like food, scrolling, and numbing out • How overstimulation disconnects you from your intuition and clarity • The hidden cost of what you consume daily (beyond just food) • The difference between craving something and actually needing something • How your inputs shape your identity, energy, and presence A Few Truths to Sit With: • You are not just what you eat—you are what you repeatedly allow in • Dopamine drives repetition, not alignment • The "hit" is temporary, but the after-effect shapes your baseline • Most habits aren't about pleasure—they're about avoiding discomfort Practical Shifts You Can Start Today: • Pay attention to the after, not just the craving • Create a pause before reaching for the habit • Ask: "What do I actually need right now?" • Upgrade your habits instead of eliminating everything at once • Be more intentional with what you consume—mentally, emotionally, physically Key Reflection: What am I actually hungry for? You don't need to overhaul your life overnight. You just need to start coming back to yourself—one choice at a time. Welcome, Inward. Disclaimer: Katie Edmonds is not a medical professional. Why Are You So Hard On Yourself?
What if the person you're hardest on… is yourself? In a world that glorifies productivity, achievement, and constant motion, many of us have learned how to offer compassion to everyone except the one person who may need it the most — ourselves. In this powerful and grounding episode of Inward, Katie explores the quiet but relentless pressure so many people carry to always be doing more, achieving more, and proving their worth through output. While we instinctively extend patience, kindness, and understanding to friends and loved ones, our inner dialogue often becomes harsh, critical, and unforgiving when we're the ones struggling. This conversation is an invitation to slow down, soften, and reconnect with your humanity. Katie shares personal insights about her own journey as a high-achiever learning to move from constant doing into simply being — and why self-compassion is not weakness, but a necessary foundation for true growth. You'll discover how an overproductive culture shapes our inner voice, why rest can feel uncomfortable or even guilt-inducing, and how learning to celebrate your wins and honor your limits can create deeper alignment, clarity, and emotional resilience. Self-compassion is not about avoiding responsibility or lowering standards. It's about recognizing that imperfection, exhaustion, and uncertainty are part of being human. When we learn to treat ourselves with the same understanding we offer others, we create the space needed for authentic healing and sustainable progress. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or stuck in cycles of pressure and self-criticism, this episode will remind you that slowing down is not falling behind — it may be the very thing that helps you move forward. Because in a world that constantly asks you to produce more, choosing compassion toward yourself might be one of the most radical and healing practices available. ✨ This episode is a reminder that you do not have to earn rest, love, or acceptance. You are allowed to pause. You are allowed to feel. You are allowed to simply be. If this episode resonates with you, be sure to follow, rate, and review the podcast, and share it with someone who may need this message today.

Are You Who You Think You Are?
We all carry identities that we believe define us. "I'm an anxious person." "I'm the successful one." "I'm the black sheep." "I'm the divorcee." But what if the labels you're clinging to the most… are actually the things keeping you stuck? In this episode of Inward with Katie Edmonds, Katie explores the powerful idea that our identities are often built around temporary roles and emotions — things that are constantly changing. When we mistake these fleeting experiences for who we truly are, we can lose sight of our authentic self. Through personal reflection and thoughtful insight, Katie shares her own journey of realizing she had drifted away from who she truly was while stepping into the roles of motherhood, marriage, and adulthood. What followed was a deep process of rediscovering herself and reconnecting with the woman she had always been. This episode is an invitation to question the labels you've accepted and remember that beneath the emotions, roles, and expectations… your true identity remains. Like the clear blue sky behind passing clouds. In This Episode We Explore: Why we mistakenly attach our identity to emotions and life roles The danger of defining yourself by temporary experiences How parenting, careers, and relationships can slowly reshape our identity Katie's personal story of rediscovering herself after feeling lost The importance of allowing life seasons instead of forcing outcomes Why impermanence can actually be freeing The powerful lesson of showing up authentically for the people we love A Powerful Reminder Your anxiety is not who you are. Your job is not who you are. Your roles are not who you are. They are simply experiences passing through — like clouds moving across the sky. Your true self remains underneath it all. Quote From This Episode "The world does not need your filtered identity. It needs your truth — the real you." Are You Living A Lie?
Are You Living a Lie? Episode 1 – Inward with Katie Edmonds Welcome to the very first episode of Inward with Katie Edmonds. This short but powerful introduction asks a question most of us avoid: Are you living a life that feels true… or one that simply looks right to everyone else? In this 4-minute opening conversation, Katie invites you to pause and turn inward. So many of us make decisions based on expectations — family expectations, relationship expectations, societal timelines, the fear of disappointing others. Over time, those small compromises can slowly pull us away from ourselves. We say yes when we mean no. We silence feelings that feel inconvenient. We stay where it's comfortable instead of where it's aligned. And eventually, we look around and wonder: How did I get here? This episode is a gentle but honest beginning. A permission slip to: Question the roles you've been playing Notice where you've abandoned your own voice Reconnect with what you actually feel and want Begin telling yourself the truth Inward is a space for calm connection, deeper awareness, and courageous self-honesty. It's not about blowing up your life overnight. It's about coming home to yourself — one honest thought at a time.
