We glorify God by making disciples of all nations. ========== Connection Card https://istrouma.org/myinfo God's Revelation, Our Response Psalm 19:1-3;7-14 1. God reveals Himself in creation. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. Romans 1:20 2. God reveals Himself in Scripture. "The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul" (v. 7a). You have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God. 1 Peter 1:23 "The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple" (v. 7b). "The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart" (v. 8a). "The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes" (v. 8b). 3. God reveals Himself ultimately in Christ. "He is the image of the invisible God…he is the beginning. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell bodily" (Col 1:15&19). "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (John 1:1). "Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son…He is the radiance of the glory of God, the exact imprint of his nature" (Hebrews 1:1-3). Jesus spoke to them again: "I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." John 8:12 For all have sinned and fall short of God's glory. Romans 3:23 God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. John 3:16 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. Romans 10:9-10.

Galatians 5:22-24, ESV BIBLICAL GOODNESS IS ROOTED IN GOD'S CHARACTER Goodness = Agathosune 18 Moses said, "Please show me your glory." 19 And he said, "I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name 'The Lord.' And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. Exodus 33:18-19, ESV I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good. Psalm 54:6, ESV 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father." John 10:11-18, ESV GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17, ESV Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalm 34:8, ESV As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. Genesis 50:20, ESV Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Job 1:21, ESV 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:28-29, ESV GOODNESS IS NOT ABOUT OUTER BEHAVIOR BUT INNER TRANSFORMATION If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11, ESV How can we Cultivate goodness in our lives? How can we Cultivate goodness in our lives? 1. Discern what is good Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2, ESV 2. Imitate what is good Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God. 3 John 1:11, ESV LEAVE A LEGACY OF GOODNESS In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful. But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. You don't grow patience by controlling your life - you cultivate patience by trusting God with it. 1. Trust God, not yourself. 2. Cultivate your convictions. 3. Cut the complaining. 4. FOUR TAKEAWAYS 1. Trust God's timing—even when it doesn't match yours 2. Strengthen your heart before the pressure comes 3. Watch your words—they reveal your trust 4. Let patience grow instead of forcing outcomes

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 8 He waited seven days, the time appointed by Samuel. But Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and the people were scattering from him. 9 So Saul said, "Bring the burnt offering here to me, and the peace offerings." And he offered the burnt offering. 10 As soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came. And Saul went out to meet him and greet him. 11 Samuel said, "What have you done?" And Saul said, "When I saw that the people were scattering from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines had mustered at Michmash, 12 I said, 'Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the favor of the Lord.' So I forced myself, and offered the burnt offering." 13 And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly. You have not kept the command of the Lord your God, with which he commanded you. For then the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. 14 But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you." 1 Samuel 13:8-14, ESV IMPATIENCE LEADS TO DISOBEDIENCE 22 And Samuel said, "Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has also rejected you from being king." 1 Samuel 15:22-23, ESV The Lord said to Samuel, "How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided for myself a king among his sons." 2 And Samuel said, "How can I go? If Saul hears it, he will kill me." And the Lord said, "Take a heifer with you and say, 'I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.' 3 And invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do. And you shall anoint for me him whom I declare to you." 4 Samuel did what the Lord commanded and came to Bethlehem. The elders of the city came to meet him trembling and said, "Do you come peaceably?" 5 And he said, "Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice." And he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice. 6 When they came, he looked on Eliab and thought, "Surely the Lord's anointed is before him." 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart." 8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, "Neither has the Lord chosen this one." 9 Then Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, "Neither has the Lord chosen this one." 10 And Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, "The Lord has not chosen these." 11 Then Samuel said to Jesse, "Are all your sons here?" And he said, "There remains yet the youngest, but behold, he is keeping the sheep." And Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and get him, for we will not sit down till he comes here." 12 And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, "Arise, anoint him, for this is he." 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah. 1 Samuel 16:1-13, ESV IT IS DIFFICULT TO BE PATIENT WHEN YOU ARE SELF-FOCUSED PURSUING THE LORD WILL FORM PATIENCE IN YOU PATIENCE LEADS TO DEPENDANCE ON GOD & THE RIGHT VIEW OF YOURSELF Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! 8 You have said, "Seek my face." My heart says to you, "Your face, Lord, do I seek." 9 Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! 10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in. 11 Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. 12 Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. 13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 1. Abide in the Spirit. "Abide in me...and you will bear much fruit." John 15:5 Where in your life are you disconnected right now? 2. Deny yourself. Victory doesn't come from fighting harder… it comes from abiding deeper. 3. Rejoice in the Lord. "The fruit of the Spirit is...joy." Galatians 5:22 Joy doesn't point to a better life - it points to a better savior. TAKEAWAYS 1. Stay connected before you try to change 2. Surrender what competes with the Spirit 3. I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel! Gal. 1:6 1. WORKS will always lead us to SPIRITLESS living. 2. If you are led by the SPIRIT you are not UNDER THE LAW. 3. The first "FRUIT" of the Spirit is LOVE! Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres. Love never fails! 1 Cor. 13:4-8

We glorify God by making disciples of all nations. ========== Connection Card https://istrouma.org/myinfo April 12, 2026 Dwayne Pitre ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-‭25‬‬ But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 1. Abide in the Spirit. "Abide in me...and you will bear much fruit." John 15:5 Where in your life are you disconnected right now? 2. Deny yourself. Victory doesn't come from fighting harder…it comes from abiding deeper. 3. Love TAKEAWAYS 1. Stay connected before you try to change 2. Surrender what competes with the Spirit 3. Measure growth by love, not effort 4. We glorify God by making disciples of all nations. ========== Connection Card https://istrouma.org/myinfo The Non-Anxious Life Philippians 4:6-9 ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭9‬‬ do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Peace doesn't come from controlling life—it comes from trusting God. 1. Refuse to worry. "Do not be anxious about anything" (v.6a). 2. Replace worry with prayer. 3. Choose your thoughts wisely. 4. Be the example. Peace doesn't come from controlling life—it comes from trusting God.

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained. Grace saves, but ownership grows us. 1. Focus your life on Christ. Ownership begins with focus. "But one thing I do…I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" (v.14). 2. Forget what's behind you. Ownership requires forward movement. 3. Fight to Grow Forward. Ownership requires effort. - Humbly admit you still need to grow. - Fully surrender your life to Christ. - Think rightly about spiritual maturity. - Train yourself spiritually.

Istrouma Baptist Church (BR) Mar 1, 2026 ========== March 1 - Philippians Welcome! We're glad you've joined us today for our Sunday morning worship service! For more information about Istrouma, go to istrouma.org or contact us at [email protected]. We glorify God by making disciples of all nations. ========== Connection Card https://istrouma.org/myinfo March 1, 2026 Matt Cate ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬-‭30‬‬ Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have. ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭11‬‬ Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 1. Live In Light of the Gospel. 1:27-30 Paul mentions UNITY in several Epistles: · Romans 15:5-7 - living in one accord to glorify God · 1 Cor. 1:10 - let the be no divisions between you · 2 Cor. 13:11- be like minded and live in peace · Gal. 5:26 – Let's not become boastful, challenging and envious · Eph. 4:1-6 – with all humility and gentleness, with patience, show tolerance for one another in love · Col. 3:12-15 – Bear with one another, forgiving one another · 1 Thes. 4:9-10 – Paul praises them because they have no need for any instruction in unity! 2. Live In the Unity Christ - 2:1-2 If/ Then statement. If: · You have any comfort from His LOVE · Any FELLOWSHIP of the Spirit · Any TENDERNESS and COMPASSION Then make my joy complete by: · Being LIKE-MINDED · Having the SAME LOVE · Being one in SPIRIT and PURPOSE 3. Live with Unity Through HUMILITY- 2:3-4 4. For more information about Istrouma, go to istrouma.org or contact us at [email protected]. We glorify God by making disciples of all nations. ========== Connection Card https://istrouma.org/myinfo Unity Through Humility Philippians 2:1–9 ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭9‬‬ So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 1. Unity is possible because the gospel is real. "So if their is any encouragement in Christ..." Phil. 2:1a 2. Unity is preserved when humility is practiced. "By being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind." Phil 2:2 "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit..." Phil. 2:3a "Look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." Phil. 2:4 3. Unity flourishes when we adopt the mind of Christ. "Have this mind among yourselves, which is your in Christ Jesus..." Phil 2:5 Takeaways 1. Unity is grounded in the realities of the gospel. 2. Unity is guarded through practiced humility. 3. Unity reflects the mind of Christ.
