Disease. Nature. Demons. Sin. Death. Despair. In just two chapters of Matthew, Jesus demonstrates His absolute authority over every single one of them. Our acts of kindness, done in the name of Jesus, with the purpose of serving and blessing others also serve to lay aside treasures in heaven that glorify and exalt our King. This constitutes the kingdom coming on earth as it is in heaven - we become the answer to the Lord’s prayer.

God's economy of spiritual profit, which He's interested in, is not based on anything that has a worldly value associated with it.

God desires a fast that breaks the chains of wickedness and oppression, not one that is merely a ritualistic display of piety.

Fasting as a kingdom discipline is not about our physical health, but about our spiritual health.

Fasting is for the purpose of listening to and seeking the Lord without distraction.

Forgiveness is God's gift to us to release us from the control of someone who has hurt us.

Our inclination, if we get there, to generously forgive, is a direct response to our gratitude for having been so lavishly forgiven by God ourselves.

Are there some things that I can do to prepare myself on a day-to-day basis in order to live a life that better honors and glorifies King Jesus?

If you had only one story from the Bible to share with someone what would that story be?

A father always knows.

He was the richest man known in all the land. Yet Joseph considered himself to be poor because the one thing he wanted in the entire world, he did not have. He desperately wanted a child.

There are no small prayers, no unheard prayers, no misunderstood prayers. They're forever present before the Father. You may have forgotten them, but the Father has not.

I know from personal experience, moments in my past that are freeze-framed in my mind and heart, that my times of concerted prayer are priceless.

Pursue contentedness as a discipline and walk deep into the Kingdom of God with a much lighter load on your shoulders.

Jesus assumes that Kingdom citizens are giving people. It's just assumed. He says, "when" you give, not "if" you give.

Repentance is not merely an emotional response, but a decisive turning point in one's life. It is a call to abandon former ways and embrace a new life in Christ.

Without the practice of these disciplines, we risk losing sight of our hope and joy in Christ. The world is just so addictive and demanding, it draws us back.

Living in a world of lies, truths seem elusive, and we quit believing in the very source of truth and love itself.

God has His hand outstretched with a cold mug full of life.

If you drink from my water, you will discover that my Father is always inviting more from you, but that you will always have enough.

The two water bringers were very mysterious, and both brought water to the dying people.

How is childbirth like the advent, the beginning, the establishment of the Kingdom of God?

The sufficiency of Christ is for our moments, even the moments where we cannot take any more.

What happens when you have more of the world than you need?

Everything comes with a cost.

Are you wanting more, but settling for less?

After enjoying a last supper with his disciples, Jesus told a story about a True Vine, hoping to give the disciples one last vitally important lesson on Kingdom Living.

The true power of God isn't called up from loud music or entertaining sermons. It is present in us as a gift of God in the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit.

Rather than seeing us as divided and different, the God of creation sees us as image bearers.

Have you had this strange sense that there is something missing in this world?

It seems that sometimes a story is the best hope to make the eternal come alive.

The bride of Christ is the Church Eternal. Nothing can or will stand in the way of the divinely-called church of Jesus Christ.

The Kingdom of God needs to be undiluted from the values of this world.

We must look at the culture through the lens of the eternal scriptures, and not look at the scriptures through today's lens of a passing culture.

We won't forget.

We see ironies abound when we linger over Holy Week.

The story with the story of Holy Week and what it means to us today.

Our loyalty to Jesus and His Kingdom must always exceed our loyalty to an Earthly agenda.

Every conversation has the potential to be a Kingdom encounter.

It is not about keeping laws, but rather, about having child-like faith.
