The mission of the Kyle Lake Center for Effective Preaching is to equip preachers at every level to engage a diverse world for the sake of the gospel. Our vision is to empower preachers to engage in faithful and fitting proclamation of the gospel by providing resources, training, and learning opportunities. The Center is housed within Baylor University's George W. Truett Theological Seminary. It was established in 2006 by David and Shirley Lake in memory of their son Kyle.

Day, Professor of Constructive Theology and African American Religion at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ. Dr. Day shares how being raised in a family of preachers shaped her voice, vision, and calling. She also highlights themes from her popular book, Azusa Reimagined: A Radical Vision of Religious and Democratic Belonging (2022), in particular, the work of the Holy Spirit in community, justice, and the future of faith. To close, Dr. Day also shares her thoughts on what Black preaching needs today and what North American preaching needs today.
