Let's See How This Goes

Hi, I’m Lis. I started this podcast because I realized… I have no idea what I’m doing — and I don’t think anyone else really does either. This is a space for the everyday things we all deal with — the random thoughts, the “wait, what?” moments, and when life is just… lifing. Sometimes lifing hard.I’m not an expert. I’m just figuring it out as I go.If you are too, you’re in the right place.Let’s see how this goes.

Thunderbolts & Coping Mechanisms: When Life is Lifing Hard

Life is clearly demanding an episode. So, here we are. What do you do when life is lifing hard and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it? I asked my people what they do. The experts weighed in too — some of it genuinely helpful, some of it made me want to throw my phone. (Don’t worry, I get into it.) And my dad had a word for moments like these. Thunderbolts. His thoughts on it were pretty solid actually.Turns out we all cope differently. Some of us "stress clean". Some of us eat our feelings. Some of us pretend everything is fine. And then there are the ones who actually have a plan — prepared, ready for anything, practically scheduling stress into their lives. (You know who you are.) I wanted to take notes. I also felt inadequate. No judgment. Lord knows I don’t have it all figured out. But if I’m going through it, someone else probably is too. So here’s what I found — take it or leave it.Let’s see how this goes

To DIY or Not to DIY: The Unnecessary Depths My Brain Goes When Left to Think About Things

I sat down to talk about DIY. The ones to do, the ones not to — and how do you even know? Plus some of my own experiences, if nothing else for a laugh. But then my brain did what it does.Is it really about the project? What drives us to do what we do? Why does one thing bring joy and another frustration? Is it deep? Is it simple? Is it just who we are?Or is my brain just going where it always goes.To DIY or not to DIY — that’s the question. But maybe it’s not the only one.Let’s see how this goes.

    I Couldn't Wait to Grow Up...Now I Don't Remember Why?

In a moment of full blown high intensity adulting, I found myself wondering — when was the last time I didn’t have everything weighing on my shoulders? The answer? Childhood. Talk about irony. I spent years desperately wanting to grow up, and now with all this hands-on adult experience under my belt, I’m wondering why I was in such a rush.In this episode I get into the illusion of childhood — how the version we dreamed about didn’t exactly play out the way we planned. And one thing nobody warned us about? Dinner. Not just dinner as a meal, but dinner as a lifelong daily responsibility that just shows up every single day, forever, whether you’re ready or not. No one prepares you for it. And yet here we all are, figuring it out.Let’s see how this goes.

Everything Sounds Right...But What Actually Works?

I went looking for a way to “fix” my routine… and somehow ended up more confused than when I started. There’s so much advice out there—about health, routines, workouts, food, all of it—and the frustrating part is… most of it actually sounds right. So where do you even begin? In this episode, I’m talking through what happens when everything feels like the right answer, why that can leave you stuck instead of moving forward, how the health industry in general is a business and we need to remember that and the shift I’m trying to make so I can actually do something instead of overthinking everything.I don’t have the answer… I’m just figuring it out as I go.So, let's see how this goes.

Has Anyone Seen The Magic Lately?...Asking For A Friend.

Easter came and I did what I always do… I went hard in the paint. Decorations, activities, the whole festive situation. And when my parents asked why I go so extreme with it, it kind of sent me down a spiral and I landed on a question of my own…Why the hell did we stop doing this?Where did the wonder, the awe, the magic go?Adulting is already hard enough, but somehow we’re expected to drop the one thing that might actually make it feel a little more enjoyable—for the sake of “growing up”?Make that make sense. This isn’t really about holidays. It’s about a mindset. A perspective. That sense of wonder in the small things—the way kids see the world—and how somewhere along the way, we lose it.Maybe life gets in the way.Maybe we’re told it’s not acceptable anymore. But honestly… I don’t buy that. Why can’t being an adult and keeping the magic coexist?Wouldn’t life be a whole lot better if they did?I don’t know. I’m still figuring it out. With a little magic and wonder…So, let’s see how this goes.

Wait...Is This a Situationship or Are We Friends?!

A simple favor turned into a much bigger question…What actually counts as a friendship as an adult? In this episode, I’m talking about the weird in-between of “are we friends or are we just… in a very consistent situationship?”How my perspective on friendships has changed over time, and what I’m starting to realize about the difference between core people and everyone else.I don’t have the answer… but I think I’m getting closer. Maybe.Let's see how it goes.
