by lexxeducation
Fire up your Bunsen burners and join award-winning comedian Laura Lexx as she attempts to pass her Science GCSEs (all over again) with the help of nerdy younger brother, Ron. Every week the squabbling siblings dissect a topic from the baddest educational document on the planet - the UK’s National Curriculum. Microbiology, magnetism, manganese…can long-suffering Ron explain atomic structures or will Laura be forever banging her head against the periodic table? Whether you love thermodynamics - or ridiculous family dynamics - Lexx Education takes you back to your school days to find out whether it’s possible to relearn your GCSEs…or be forever doomed to looking things up on Wikipedia.

Vegetables Is A Lie
Hello and welcome to Lexx Education - the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her nerdy, normal younger brother Ron! It's the last of the Australian episodes and Laura is in precisely no mood for science so no science happens. Instead they reminisce about school days, chat about their top fives and generally messa around. Light, breezy and silly - everything you need in a Monday. Learn more about your ad choices. Laura’s in Australia’s last metres and today’s show is really demonstrating that. We enter with a careening chat going around the houses topics wise. But otherwise it’s a history episode! And we’re somehow still learning about Elizabeth 1 (Ron writing these notes). A host of new characters, Icky and the Worst, Liquorice and Beans, the Nerdosphere lads lads lads. Anyway, learn more! An Idiot Who Didn't Investigate A Good Log
Welcome to the 200th episode of Lexx Education. Not that either of these two idiots mention it within the episode so don't worry about dressing up or anything. In fact, with Laura suffering festival madness and Ron in a completely different time zone they do their best to learn about amino acids but mainly they're just jazzed on honey. Enjoy their sibling nonsense for the 200th time you beautiful lovers of mayhem and anarchy. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Big Kissy Lips Snake - Easter Special
Welcome to the Lexx Eastercation special! Is honour of the big JC’s 3 day cheeky nap nap, we’re talking Thanatosis (animals playing dead for the layman). Ron is super ill from hanging out with Laura child and foul dogs so sorry for the somewhat downtempo boy but I think you can really hear that he is a boy that is trying his best. We hope that you enjoyed chocolate egg day if you celebrate and we hope that you had a generally good day otherwise if you don’t. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Pencils up Lab Rats it's lesson time! With lipids finally in the rear view mirror Ron brings out a whole new set of dullsville facts and presents them to Laura. This week proteins. It sure does feel like we've done all this before, doesn't it? Laura does really well in this episode and Ron is incredibly ungrateful about it. Learn more about your ad choices. Some audio issues today and sorry about that! Laura is fizzy from workout and Ron sometimes is a robot. The gang delay and delay before finally getting into the Lipids quiz so they can finally move on from the oily quagmire of this topic. Sorry for it being out slightly late, Ron edited on a train and then completely forgot to upload when he arrived at his destination! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Religion’s Being All Boo Hiss
Welcome back to Lexx Education everyone! We hope you're on the brink of a startling good week, and we're here to spur you on to greater things with a very good episode all about the perils of being a woman in Elizabethan England! We make a startling revelation about being a woman in the 21st Century and then we move on to whether or not Elizabeth I was a unicorn or not. We talk property laws for Elizabethan women, we talk education. We look at being a normal woman and being a high society woman and discuss how either way you lived you were between a rock and a hard place in terms of female restriction. We discuss the way Henry VIII had properly rocked the boat for even being a Queen, and then we get distracted by matchstick girls for a while. Mostly though, we're on topic, focused and having a good time. And we have the lack of science to thank for that. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Blue Gum Gully!
It’s an impromptu Australia episode, but Laura can’t make up her small and silly mind about exactly what she wants to talk about, and no matter how Ron tries to do it, he’s down it wrong. Get ready to listen to Ron do research while they are talking things through, Laura hasn’t researched anything but Ron isn’t allowed. Don’t know how that’s fair. Business in London
Welcome back to Lexx Education you beautiful little rats! We hope you've had a busy business week... welcome to the space to relax in a little bundle of siblingness. This week Ron has been wedding venue scouting and Laura is trying to do one thing at a time. They are both equally excited about what they're up to. Laura can upload files without complications and Ron is sharing his life with the woman he loves. This episode has the beginnings of Laura’s obsession with Slow Horses… be prepared for this to probably come up quite a lot over the next few months. Obviously it's a brilliant show but let's face it - Laura is in it for the fart jokes isn't she? Laura is prepping for leaving for Australia… which might feel odd for people currently following her on social media but obviously because we’re such organised beans we’re a few episodes ahead in recording. Aren't you stunned? As for the science. It's clubnuggets. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Churlish Boy Moments
Welcome to a new episode of Lexx Education, Ron and Laura have caught up recently so while, much like Brussels where Ron lives, there’s a lot of waffle, it’s not particularly interesting waffle. Coughs, animal hair, car repairs, it’s all in the waffle. We have a couple of false starts when it comes to actually getting into the nuts and seeds of the podcast. Unfortunately, we then squabble a lot while just going through what the lesson is going to be covering, before we even go through the millimetre of science that we cover win this episode. Horny For Boleyns
Welcome back to Lexx Education! It's a history week on Lexx Ed and so Laura is in the teacher's chair getting Ron all knowledgeable about Lizzy 1. Except, it's Lexx Education, so things go gleefully off the rails almost as soon as they've begun. Ron introduces a new segment: ASMR. Let's see how long this lasts for. They have the usual start to the show of chat and catch up and then just as the history is supposed to begin full force Ron gets utterly distracted by a false childhood memory that he must solve right here right now on your time. Spoiler: it's been skilfully edited by Laura to sound better than it was but you need to understand how long this research took. Then Ron goes into a bit of a sulk but it does leave space for us to find out about the many difficulties faced by Elizabeth I during her reign as Queen of England. Learn more about your ad choices. I’m A Wooden Trap
Are there poops in your pants that you do enjoy the feel of... that's where this episode starts. There are portions of it where it really, really tries to be science and then there are portions of it that remain Lexx Education. in this episode you will find: much discussion of The Lord of the Rings, a small amount of adipose tissue discussion before a Dire Straits shaped tangent. A little bit about metabolic water and then an argument about zshuzh and the scarecrow from Bob the Builder and a discussion of trail mix and different nuts/seeds before a final comment on fats and why they work and what they're for. Pretty Good Squirrel
Interesting start to this weeks episode ngl folks… it starts with a long, rambling description of upcoming changes to Laura’s house. This then really quickly devolves into an argument abut Christmas gifts. Holy shit there’s a lot of waffle at the top of this ep. Through meandering routes. Then. There is the briefest flash of science before Laura ABSOLUTELY LOSES IT. She goes completely insane. Pretty good squirrel. PLEASE take a look at the Patreon, it's where we do our best work. All in the Shoo and Not in the Ralph
Hello and welcome to Lexx Education! It's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her nerdy, normal, younger brother Ron! This week Ron is a little under the weather but Laura is good so we went ahead with the podcast anyway. This week we are carrying on with fatty acids... or at least, we are briefly until Ron has a massive sneezing fit and interrupts the proceedings for a good five minutes. Obviously, the meander back to the science and you'll be surprised to hear it actually becomes a pretty good science lesson for a little while as they look at trans and cis fats, saturated and unsaturated fats and how to break down a triglyceride. Thanks as ever to our wonderful band of patrons - we couldn't keep this going without you and we're very glad you enjoy our particular brand of nonsense. Learn more about your ad choices. The Rest Might Be History
History time again folks! And we’re talking about the royal court. It’s an early record, with an ill Ron and a semi-patient Laura. Ron is quiet and Laura is cross, but we’re having a lovely time learning more and more about Elizabeth and her mates. What makes a court? What happened to croquet? What’s an earl? Why were the Tudors so shaky beans? Who was banging who and why? Shitties? Merry Christmas From Two Anxious Fucks
Merry Christmas you parthenogenic animals! This week we have birthed you a very topical episode all about the most festive thing you can imagine: virgin births! This week Ron and Laura explore the concept of parthenogenesis and have a look at some ways of procreating that are non-typical compared to most species on the planet. Thick In Weird Ways - Elf Maths Christmas Special
In a cool and unusual Christmas episode your favourite science buddies are chatting through the logistics of running your own toy factory in the North Pole. Laura has her hard hat on, and her clipboard ready, as she fills the role of foreman for the Pole while Ron feeds her wild and whacky decisions into a special spreadsheet that he made to calculate the numbers. The Lait Homme
Hello and welcome to Lexx Education, the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her nerdy, normal younger brother Ron! It’s the last proper lesson of term before they have a little festive distraction piece with some end of term Christmas episodes. With that in mind, Ron has planned some revision to make sure that what Laura has so far learned in A Level 2.0 has actually gone in. Obviously Laura’s not that keen to get to the meat and bones of the potato podcast so there’s an awful lot of delay before they get to the quiz. They cover malicious animals, tongues and cuisine (including soup) and then round it off with a good summation of Matthew Mcconaughey street cum ethics and possibilities. Once they’re into the quiz the laughter stops and the grumps begin. With a proper actual strop in the middle from Laura and the tersest of terse voices from Ron. Learn more about your ad choices. Glizzy Fizzy Spaghetti Diet
Hello and welcome to another spectacular episode of Lexx Education! It's the cult classic comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her nerdy normal younger brother Ron! It all started way back in the day when pesky Ron moved to Brussels and Laura was worried she'd miss him and he'd stop talking to her so she forced him to start a podcast. Cut to over 3 years later and they're still here chundering their way through the world of science and sibling arguments. This week on the podcast there is minimal enthusiasm but Laura finds a reserve of hot dog energy and uses it to create a convoluted metaphor for saccharides that revolves around chariot racing. It's wild ride but some real retro zshush. We hope you love it... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hello and welcome to another episode of Lexx Education. It's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her nerdy, normal non-comedian brother Ron! This week they're settling in to the new A level routine and Ron is doing his bestest to get monomers and polymers into Laura's head. The idea is they'll breeze through monomers and polymers and then can focus on rotational symmetry and chirality but breezing doesn't happen and the symmetry is too much for her. It’s the first episode of season 3! We’ve sacked off chemistry and physics and we’re here with our biology blinkers on. However, we start off the episode with a bit of a Duolingo tirade. It’s the return of Gnocchi, it’s the return of Brussels, it’s the return of focus and love of pod. Then we talk about Laura’s bad week, because she has had a very bad week. Welcome to Lexx Education - it's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her nerdy younger brother Ron! This week it's the last of the stock take! Laura and Ron have been weighing up exactly how badly A Level is sinking in to the mulch of Laura's brain and are developing some shakeups to the format post GCSE. A Hostile Environment for Both Science and Self-Esteem
It’s 8am on a Monday morning and two cool kids sit down to record their killer podcast. They are two absolute CEOs of podcasting… Laura and Ron. Siblings with that killer instinct for grind and mindsets. Gone is the old podcast where two friendly kids muck about around a science syllabus and here comes CEO podcasting from the people who brought you Lexx Ed the old version. Now it’s Lexx Ed the new version: grindset style. It’s a little bit more recapping of the syllabus that so far hasn’t gone in except now it’s corporate. Stylish. Productive and focused. CEOs. In this episode we get micro - we look deep into the nucleus and find out exactly what's going on in that little membrane envelope. Sound Effect Extravaganza
Heads up everyone - it's a weird one! Hello and welcome to another episode of Lexx Education! It's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her nerdy younger normal brother Ron! This week is weird... first Laura is away for the introduction so it's solo Ron. He always has a clanky energy about him and this week is no exception. If you like gentle stumbling through nothing - you will love this introduction. Then there's the lesson... but is there? See Laura and Ron have actually not recorded for three weeks so ACTUALLY there's quite a lot of catching up and a big reveal and then they half study half a sentence. Then the quiz... well, technically they're both there - they're just not both there together. You'll see when you get there. Then back to lovely little Ron in a box on his own for the outro. Even for us - this is a shambles of weird states. We hope you love it. Reporting for Booty
Laura tells Ron all about the new show coming up called The Paper - set in the world of The Office. In the lesson there’s a bit more pub quiz to finish off… this time it’s flags! There’s a huge meandering wander through the tea towel, through Stockholm Syndrome and through reminiscences of Bristol Harbour Festival before they end up anywhere. It feels like they might veer back into the big argument when Laura requests that Ron return to Bristol for more James Prestwood shenanigans and Ron refuses to commit. The science when they finally arrive there is Photons. Unfortunately Laura finds it very hard to get started because she’s concentrating so hard on jokes about the word Photon. Packets feature heavily in the desciption of photons etc. Rice. Ever heard light described like rice? Well, you will have by the time you finish this episode. It’s SUCH a short stop on the science before they’re distracted by several celebrities. Weirdly enough though, it’s Laura that drags them back on topic just in time to squeeze in Max Planck. C-I-T-Y you can see why, these doves the neat doves smart and streetwise. CITY DOVES. The show begins with Laura have had an hour off and so is in a nice relaxed mood. She's been watching Clarkson's Farm and the science siblings have a quick chat about how it's got a bit stilted lately. Then, they move on to the hot topic of Laura RSVPing to Ron's birthday party. The actual science is about co-valent bonds yadaa yahda yadda. A note from Laura: I purposely called her Rosalind Crick to try and infuriate Ron at the end but he didn't notice. 2 Pigs: Sticks and Stone
Cool beans gang, here’s another episode of your favourite ever podcast, Lexx Education. We start off in the realms of new dog chat, we finally conceive Pod Michael Murray, crawl spaces, and then we delve into the misty murks of antimatter whatever the bloody hell that is. Fair warning, there’s a lot of ramble about a pub quiz which may or may not become the new Rob Schneider’s The Animal. Plus a surprise return of a fan favourite segment. 💬 Show Notes Welcome back to another episode of Lexx Education! In this episode, Laura and Ron dive into the whimsical world of science, but not without a detour through the realms of pub quizzes and anagrams. As Ron recounts his recent quiz night adventures, the siblings engage in a lively discussion about the peculiarities of their local pubs, including the delights of Detroit-style pizza. But fear not, the science is here! This week, they tackle the mind-bending topic of antimatter. What is it? How does it work? And why does it have a connection to the universe's balance? With plenty of laughs and a few tangents along the way, the duo attempts to unravel the mysteries of the subatomic world. Will Laura manage to grasp the concept of antimatter, or will she get lost in the chaos of their banter? Tune in to find out! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Much Mickey Ado About Mouse
This is the science siblings first lesson recording science before Ron went away to Sweden and Norway and so they’ve had a good month off recording together, so… it takes them a while to get into the meat and bones of the potato party. It begins with Laura having had some compliments this week and Ron trying to guess what on earth someone might compliment about Laura. 50 bonus Lab Rat points to anyone who gets the Tom Builder reference. There’s a happy return of the famous Laura invented apple sorter before Laura and Ron start reminiscing about the House of Marbles in Newton Abbot. Let us know if you want a special visit episode about the House of Marbles. Then the subject morphs from marbles to a potential moon tattoo to a pretty graphic discussion of potential tattoos and into junk. At the 14 minute mark of the episode there’s a feeling like the science is about to start. That feeling is fleeting. It’s so fleeting it’s not even a full fleet it’s a fle. Suddenly, via a fairly disgruntled person, they’re discussing TaskMaster which is Laura’s favourite new obsession! You might get a bit confused in the middle because you can’t really hear Tom asking me questions but that’s why I suddenly start having one half of a conversation you can’t hear. Do you enjoy the interruptions from CotP or should we editing more of this out? I won’t spoil what the quiz is about but it’s nearly as long as the episode. We are so bad at podcasting. -- 💬 Show Notes In this episode of Lexx Education, Laura and Ron dive into a whirlwind of chaotic anecdotes, beginning with Laura's dramatic work call that leaves her a quivering mess. Just when you think the conversation might steer towards science, a seagull unexpectedly drops into Laura's garden, leading to a comedic rescue mission that only a true animal whisperer could manage. As the siblings navigate through their day-to-day lives, they reminisce about their childhood adventures and the oddities of family life, including a hilarious discussion about their old family projects. A Little a With A Curly Bum
Hello and welcome to Lexx Education - the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her normal brother Ron! This week Laura is too hot. she's stuck behind an airbed for reasons best known to herself. Ron has brought hypotheticals to try and keep them amused through physics. They discuss the merits of skins, but not in a science way. Just in a: do you want nothing but skin way. Next they discuss their various frustrations with the podcast: spoiler alert they are all each other. Then Laura reveals she hasn’t bought their shared mother a birthday present and Ron tries some banter. He’s as good at that as she is at science. There’s a little recap on strong nuclear force. There’s a bit of a recap on the three types of radiation. Because this episode focuses in more detail on radiation - specifically beta and beta minus radiation. Learn more about your ad choices. Disciplining Boys In The Park
Hello and welcome to another episode of Lexx Education - this week featuring special guest Agony Dad! Ron is away gallivanting so Laura has roped Agony Dad into the intros and outros in place of Ron. Agony Dad knows more about amino acids and R groups than Laura despite not listening to the episode, or indeed any episodes. In the actual lesson Ron is still pretty obsessed with West Country carnivals. Laura does her best to keep him focused and back on track for the science. They discuss how boring lipids and fatty acids have been and there's a real moment where they consider abandoning the entire syllabus in favour of just not doing it. Then Ron sneezes for aaaaaaages. Ron gets very giddy from all the sneezing and then discuss Laura getting a new tattoo before attempting to return to the science. Fans of the syllabus may be interested to know that it's 3.1.4.1 Proteins. General properties of proteins. In case you're reading along at home. Dipeptide turns up and becomes a fantastic character. There are 20 amino acids common in all organisms. They are just about getting somewhere with a discussion on beta sheets and alpha something somethings and then Laura derails the whole discussion by getting political. Enjoy! -- These show notes were generated by Headliner AI. Hate Crime Against Bank holidays
Sure! Here's a Lexx Education-style podcast description for an episode about triglycerides, capturing the show's signature mix of chaotic sibling banter, genuine science learning, and plenty of humor: Episode Title: Triglycerides: Three’s a Fatty Crowd Description: In this week's greasy episode, Ron valiantly attempts to teach Leila about triglycerides, the little molecular monsters behind body fat, buttery snacks, and bad cholesterol readings. Leila spends the first ten minutes thinking triglycerides are a type of dinosaur, while Ron tries to explain how fatty acids and glycerol are like the Power Rangers of lipids—only stickier and less cool. Expect chaotic analogies, dubious dietary advice, and a heated debate about whether margarine is a government conspiracy. Also: why your body hoards fat like a dragon with gold, what happens when your triglyceride levels go rogue, and how the word "esterification" has ruined Ron’s week. Come for the science, stay for Leila trying to pronounce "hydrophobic" like it’s a Harry Potter spell. Let me know if you'd like a more technical or sillier version!
