    Who Is Wise and Understanding?

The Letter of James (Part 10) | James 3:13-18 | Stephanie SullivanJames doesn't ask who's the smartest person in the room — he asks who is wise. In this message on James 3:13–18, we continue the "Terrible Tongue" study by going deeper: our words don't just need to be tamed, they need to be sourced from the right place. Discover the difference between earthly wisdom (marked by bitter jealousy and selfish ambition) and the wisdom that comes down from above (pure, peaceable, gentle, full of mercy). Through personal testimony, honest confession, and a walk through James 3:13–18, this message asks a piercing question: what does your speech reveal about the wisdom shaping your heart?Part of our ongoing series through the Letter of James at Life Tabernacle Church.Recorded live at Life Tabernacle Church in Vinton, Virginia, on August 16th, 2026, by Rev. My Terrible Tongue

The Letter of James (Part 9) | James 3:1-12 | Dallas HerndonNot many of us think of our tongues as dangerous — but James does. In this message from James 3:1-12, Pastor Dallas Herndon walks through James's vivid pictures of the tongue as a bit in a horse's mouth, a rudder on a massive ship, and a spark that burns down a forest — all to make one point: something this small can direct (or destroy) everything. Along the way, we take on the old lie "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me," and land on the real issue behind our words: not tongue control, but heart condition. Part of our ongoing series through the book of James at Life Tabernacle Church.Recorded live at Life Tabernacle Church in Vinton, Virginia, on August 9th, 2026, by Pastor Daniel Dallas Herndon.Want to connect more with Life Tabernacle?Visit us online: lifetabernaclepcg.comFeeling led to support the ministry?Give securely here: Tithely Giving Link

    Faith Without Works Is Dead

The Letter of James (Part 8) | James 2:14-26 | Dallas HerndonFaith and works aren't opposites — they're partners. In this message from James chapter 2, Pastor Dallas Herndon walks through three types of faith James describes: dead faith (belief with no action), demonic faith (correct theology with no transformation), and working faith (belief proven by obedience) — using the examples of Abraham and Rahab. This episode is part of Life Tabernacle Church's ongoing series through the Letter of James. In this episode:What "works" actually means in the Greek and why it mattersWhy works don't equal salvation (and why that question still comes up)The difference between dead faith, demonic faith, and working faithHow Abraham's obedience and Rahab's story both model "faith made complete by action"Practical, everyday categories of works every believer is called toRecorded live at Life Tabernacle Church in Vinton, Virginia, on August 2nd, 2026, by Pastor Daniel Dallas Herndon.Want to connect more with Life Tabernacle?Visit us online: lifetabernaclepcg.comFeeling led to support the ministry?Give securely here: Tithely Giving Link

The Letter of James (Part 7) | Does God Play Favorites? | James 2:1-13 | Dallas Herndon

Does God show favoritism? In this message from our ongoing series through the book of James, Pastor Dallas Herndon unpacks James 2:1-13 — a passage where James confronts the early church for favoring the rich over the poor. We explore: - What "favoritism" (partiality) really means in the original language - Why the church James wrote to preferred wealthy visitors over poor ones - How God's character and God's word both condemn partiality - The story of Samuel anointing David — why God looks at the heart, not the outward appearance - Why "judgment without mercy" should move us toward showing mercy first.Scripture referenced: James 2:1-13, Romans 2:11, Acts 10:34, Deuteronomy 1:17, Leviticus 19:15, Proverbs 24:23, 1 Samuel 16:6-7 Recorded live at Life Tabernacle Church in Vinton, Virginia, on July 26th, 2026, by Pastor Daniel Dallas Herndon.Want to connect more with Life Tabernacle?Visit us online: lifetabernaclepcg.comFeeling led to support the ministry?Give securely here: Tithely Giving Link

The Church that Christ is Building | Matthew 16:13-18 | Bishop Randall Lawrence Sr.

The Church that Christ is Building — Matthew 16:13-19Guest speaker: Bishop LawrenceAt Caesarea Philippi — standing in the shadow of a pagan temple and a cave the ancients called the gate to the underworld — Jesus made a declaration: I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.Bishop Lawrence walks the sentence word by word:I — Jesus is the architect. Not Peter, not a pope, not a pastor. Will — a promise about the future, spoken before the church existed.Build — not a one-time act, but an ongoing work still expanding across every continent. My — it was never our church, and the enemy loves to divide us over preferences that have no eternal value.Church — ekklesia, the called-out ones. God isn't building a building. He's building a people.Along the way, three kinds of churches: the memorial church, convinced its best days are behind it; the maintenance church, content to keep everyone comfortable; and the movement church, still reaching, still on mission. From Acts 2, six marks of the church Jesus started — Spirit-filled, disciple-making, fellowshipping, worshiping, praying, and evangelistic. The message closes with a word over Life Tabernacle from Job 8:7: though your beginning was small, yet your latter end shall greatly increase.Scripture: Matthew 16:13-19; Acts 2:41-47; Job 8:7; Revelation 1:18; Ephesians 3:20-21Recorded live at Life Tabernacle Church in Vinton, Virginia, on July 19th, 2026, by Bishop Randall Lawrence.Want to connect more with Life Tabernacle?Visit us online: lifetabernaclepcg.comFeeling led to support the ministry?Give securely here: Tithely Giving Link

The Letter of James (Part 6) | Doers of the Word | James 1:19-27 | Dallas Herndon

Doers of the Word — James 1:19-27After five weeks in James chapter 1, we reach the letter's thesis statement. James has covered trials, perseverance, wisdom, and keeping our eyes on the prize — and now he tells us why it all matters: do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourself. Do what it says.In this message, Pastor Dallas Herndon walks through three movements in the text:Be quick to listen (vv. 19-21) — you cannot be a good doer of the Word if you are not first a good hearer of it. In a culture of shrinking attention spans, the art of hearing has to be recovered.Don't deceive yourself (vv. 22-25) — the man who glances in a mirror and forgets his face. Looking only at ourselves, we always come away satisfied. Looking intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, we see Christ — and we see what needs to change.Practice pure worship (vv. 26-27) — a tight rein on the tongue, active care for orphans and widows, and a life kept from the pollution of the world.Along the way: what General George McClellan's endless preparation teaches us about good intentions, a Facebook comment that almost got the pastor in trouble, and why Dallas Willard believed discipleship is the greatest issue facing the world today.Scripture: James 1:19-27 (NIV)Series: The Book of JamesAlso referenced: John 1:1, Matthew 6:25-34, Matthew 28:19-20Recorded live at Life Tabernacle Church in Vinton, Virginia, on July 12th, 2026, by Pastor Daniel Dallas Herndon.Want to connect more with Life Tabernacle?Visit us online: lifetabernaclepcg.comFeeling led to support the ministry?Give securely here: Tithely Giving Link

The Letter of James (Part 5) | Eyes on the Prize | James 1:12-18 | Dallas Herndon

What is the "crown of life," and why does James promise it to those who endure trials? In this message from James 1:12–18, Pastor Dallas Herndon unpacks the difference between trials God allows and temptations that come from our own disordered desires — walking through the fishing imagery of James 1:14, the danger of "the gradual slope" toward sin, and why blessing in the Christian life flows from obedience, not luck. You'll learn why God is never the source of temptation, how sin quietly takes root before it "gives birth to death," and why persevering to the end matters more than how you started.Part of our ongoing series through the book of James.Recorded live at Life Tabernacle Church in Vinton, Virginia, on July 5th, 2026, by Pastor Daniel Dallas Herndon.Want to connect more with Life Tabernacle?Visit us online: lifetabernaclepcg.comFeeling led to support the ministry?Give securely here: Tithely Giving Link

Still Waiting | John 5:1–8 | Eric Pennington

What if you've been waiting on God for years — and the miracle was right in front of you the whole time? In this powerful guest message from John 5:1–8, the story of the paralyzed man at the Pool of Bethesda becomes a mirror for how we box God in with our expectations. When we're convinced God has to do it a certain way, we can miss what he's already doing. Drawing from the stories of Abraham and Hagar, the prophet Naaman, and a raw personal testimony, this message calls us to rise up, drop our excuses, and let God work however he chooses. Life's hardest moments don't just need solutions — they need wisdom. In this message from James 1:5–8, Pastor Dallas explores the critical difference between knowledge and wisdom, why double-mindedness leaves us spiritually unstable, and what it actually looks like to ask God with genuine, unwavering faith. Drawing from the tragic sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, the wisdom of King Solomon, and the extraordinary story of an early Christian female martyr named Vibhya Perpetua, this message challenges us to pursue wholehearted, consistent faith over a lifetime — not just in the moment. The Letter of James (Part 1) | A Servant of Jesus Christ | James 1:1 | Dallas Herndon

In this opening message of our new series through the Book of James, we explore one of the most practical and challenging books in the New Testament. James, the half-brother of Jesus and leader in the early church, calls believers to move beyond simply talking about faith and begin living it out every day. What does it mean to be a servant of Jesus Christ? Are we merely hearers of God's Word, or are we doers as well? Through James 1:1, we discover that authentic Christianity is more than believing the right things—it's allowing our faith to shape our actions, attitudes, relationships, and daily decisions. In this sermon, you'll learn:• Why the Book of James is often called the "Proverbs of the New Testament"• The relationship between faith, grace, and good works• How genuine faith produces obedience• Who James was and why his testimony matters• What it means to be a servant of God• Why Christians are called to walk the walk, not just talk the talkWhether you're new to faith or have followed Jesus for years, this message will challenge you to examine areas of your life where Christ may not yet have full lordship and encourage you to pursue a deeper, more obedient walk with Him.Scripture References:James 1:1, James 1:22, James 2:19, James 2:24, Ephesians 2:8-9, Acts 2:38-39, Galatians 1:19Subscribe for weekly sermons from Life Tabernacle Church and share this message with someone who wants to grow in their relationship with Jesus.Recorded live at Life Tabernacle Church in Vinton, Virginia, on May 31st, 2026, from Pastor Daniel Dallas Herndon.Want to connect more with Life Tabernacle?Visit us online: lifetabernaclepcg.comFeeling led to support the ministry?Give securely here: Tithely Giving Link
