In this part-two episode, we continue to explore the theme of our summer series, Walking in the Spirit, by emphasizing the importance of setting our minds on the Spirit instead of on our flesh. In this episode we get practical and share two methods to redirect our minds back onto Jesus when we are tempted, or even when we are stressed, angry, worried or sad.

Through a really great personal example, I contrast the difference between living according to the flesh vs according to the Spirit so that we can recognize when we are starting to think and act out of our flesh. Recognizing what is happening in my thoughts is the first step to choosing God's better way to live in freedom!

We are getting practical on this introductory episode on walking in the Spirit. We're asking what is necessary not just to know but to believe about God and His care for me so that I can walk in the Spirit more consistently. I am happy to introduce a summer series focused on 'Walking in the Spirit.' We're going to talk about the importance of this practice in every Christian's life and discuss the internal battle between the flesh and the spirit. We'll explores the role of the Holy Spirit, we'll define the flesh and explore the significance of the fruit of the Spirit so that we are set up for hearing the beginning practical steps for believers to walk in the Spirit on the part 2 episode.  

In this part two episode about family relationships, we talk about some practicalities of keeping our families healthy and happy as we journey together through life. The best families have biblical values that guide them as they deal with family conflict and building close relationships. Today we look at four general principles from the account of Isaac and Ishmael that will help us in our own family life.

Last week we walked through the biblical account of Hagar and Ishmael wandering around in the wilderness after Abraham sends them away. This week we are looking at the lessons in parenting we can learn from Hagar, especially for the single parent. This part two episode starts directly with the application and answers the question: Is there hope for the children of a single parent to have an abundant life? And will God actually care for children who are raised by a single parent?

In this episode we explore Abraham's and Sarah's name change and how that change helped them to walk in faith. We also discuss what our first priority is as Christians. It is easy to focus so much on what I do for God that I forget to focus on my relationship with Him at the root of it all.
