Spiritual Rules Worth Breaking (and the Ones Worth Keeping!)

Where we're going? We don't need Rules! Sarah and Jane talk story about the spiritual rules we were handed — and the ones we actually need. Sarah comes prepared with a list (both parents are Virgos, so obviously she has a list), and together she and Jane move through the rules worth following and the ones worth leaving behind. At the top of the list: energy sovereignty. You are responsible for your own energy, full stop. Protecting your energetic field isn't selfish — it's a requirement. From there, the conversation opens up into the golden rule, do no harm, the ethics of making predictions in readings, and the importance of self-care for those in service-based work. On the flip side, Sarah and Jane unpack the rules we don't need anymore: dogma, fear-based thinking, spiritual gatekeeping, and the belief that suffering is proof of dedication. They talk about the permission-slip trap — always needing one more certificate, one more credential — and why the Akashic Records episode cracked something open for Sarah around trusting her own access. The episode lands somewhere expansive: if a rule makes you feel smaller, it's probably not yours to follow. If it comes from love and opens something up in you, it's worth keeping. Simple, but not easy — and exactly why they keep showing up to talk about it. Key Takeaways Energy sovereignty is non-negotiable. You are responsible for your own energetic and emotional state — and protecting that field is an act of kindness to yourself and everyone around you. "Do no harm" isn't just a platitude — it's a real ethical standard for anyone doing intuitive or healing work. Making fear-based predictions, issuing warnings of doom, or weaponizing someone's hope is harmful. Full stop. The golden rule includes you. Spiritual people often pour endlessly into others while running on empty. Caring for yourself isn't a distraction from your purpose — it's the foundation of it. Dogma is the rule that tells you to stop questioning. Any belief system — spiritual or otherwise — that demands you shut down your curiosity is worth examining. There is no spiritual hierarchy. The gatekeeping is crumbling. You don't need another permission slip to trust your own access to the Divine. The deepest rule might be the simplest one: if it makes you feel expansive, it's worth following. If it makes you feel smaller, it isn't. Quotes "Protecting your own energy field isn't selfish. It's a responsibility." — Sarah "I didn't come all this way — coming out as a medium — to be put in a box." — Sarah "Your guidance is provided by you. It does not have to be other-provided." — Jane Links and Resources Episode mentioned: Tammy Tocheniuk (Episode 97) Episode mentioned: Dr. Linda Howe / Akashic Records episode Medium Curious’ Website: https://www.mediumcurious.com Explore the Intuition & Mediumship Course: https://www.mediumcurious.com Book a reading with Jane Morgan https://www.janemorganmedium.com/ Book a reading with Sarah Rathke https://www.sarahrathke.com/ Jane's Substack: https://janemorgan.substack.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mediumcuriouspod/

Mothers of Magic: Perdita Finn on How to Summon Your Ancestors and Reclaim the Mothering You Never Had

Ready to feel all the feelings? Sarah and Jane sit down with author and mystic Perdita Finn on the eve of the launch of her new book, Mothers of Magic: Summoning the Wisdom of Our Ancestors — and the timing feels nothing short of divinely arranged. Perdita is also the author of Take Back the Magic: Conversations with the Unseen World, and this episode picks up right where that book left off: the dead are not gone, they are available to help us.  What unfolds is one of the most resonant conversations Medium Curious has ever had. Perdita brings her gift for poetic, grounded storytelling to questions that couldn't feel more urgent: What does it mean to be un-mothered in a culture designed to make mothers fail? How do we reclaim the grandmothers who were silenced, reduced to diagnoses, cornered by circumstance? And how do we connect with them now, across the veil, when we need them most? Perdita shares the story of her grandmother Nellie — a woman she only knew as a stroke victim, but who she discovered, through diaries found after her mother's death, to be a complicated, extraordinary soul worth claiming. She talks about the forget-me-nots blooming in her yard three weeks early on book launch day, carried from England to America by her grandmother, and what it feels like to offer this book to her. The conversation moves through the lost village of mothering — how before civilization, a mother was anyone who cared, regardless of gender or biology — to the very practical question of what to do with all of it: the grief, the rage, the overwhelm, the headlines. Perdita's answer is to delegate to the dead. She opens every morning with her worries and calls on her team on the other side, from her late dentist to the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, trusting that the dead can hold what we cannot. This episode will leave you crying, laughing, and reaching for your own grandmother's hand across whatever distance separates you. Key Takeaways The dead are still available to us. Perdita opens every morning by calling on her team on the other side — ancestors, teachers, friends, even those we've lost to historical atrocity — and asks them to help carry what feels too heavy to hold alone. This isn't metaphor. It's a daily practice with real effects. Our grandmothers were more than the stories we were told about them. Many of us inherited a reduced version of who our grandmothers were — shaped by trauma, mental illness labels, silence, and the limits of the era they lived in. Their diaries, their objects, their dreams can give them back to us as full human beings. Fretting is a form of prayer. Perdita reframes worry not as weakness but as creativity at work — an act of turning something over, wearing away at a problem, spinning new possibilities into being. Our anxious minds are also our most generative ones. Before civilization, a mother was an adult who cared. Mothering wasn't defined by gender or biology. It was communal, expansive, and distributed across a whole circle of people. Reclaiming that definition is not just healing — it's resistance. We are all psychic, and we have been trained out of it. Perdita's own precognitive dreams were met with terror by her mother, and she shut them down. When we silence those gifts in children — and in ourselves — we lose our most essential line of communication with the unseen world. The goal isn't just your lifetime. Perdita encourages thinking in terms of 49 generations — roughly 1,200 years. What prayer would you want to still be praying then? What healing are you beginning now that you may not live to see complete? Quotable Moments "What we long for are the arms and the embrace of a circle of mothers — a circle of grandmothers, a circle of beings who know who we are and want us to be who we are." "If we weren't adored by a group of women who loved us in life, just know: you are adored by beings beyond measure who love you from the other side." "We need less children in the world and more mothers." "A knot, an obstacle, a problem, a rift — becomes an opportunity for magic with the dead." "If we remember we're all each other's mothers, we're going to stop clear-cutting the forest and mountaintop mining and putting each other in solitary confinement." How to Use Spiritual Solutions to Solve Life’s Hardest Problems

In this Sunday solo, Jane shares a deeply personal and practical approach to handling life’s hardest moments—without getting swamped by them. After facing an overwhelming real-life situation, she walks through the exact mindset shifts and spiritual tools she used to move from stress and confusion… to clarity, calm, and real solutions. From the simple mantra “nothing’s a problem” to creating a “spiritual container” around challenges, this episode is a guide to navigating difficulty with more ease, support, and trust. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure what to do next—this episode will give you a new way forward. What You’ll Learn: Why the way you label a problem changes your entire experience of it How to stop feeling emotionally “swamped” by hard situations What a “spiritual container” is—and how to use it How to separate yourself from the problem (so you can actually solve it) Simple ways to ask for help—from intuition, guides, or the universe A powerful method for receiving clear next steps How intention, visualization, and energy can support real-world results Key Takeaways: Not everything that feels like a problem needs to stay one You don’t have to carry everything inside your “field” Help is available—but you have to ask (or even require it) Clarity comes when you create space between you and the problem Small, guided steps are more powerful than trying to solve everything at once Memorable Moments: “Nothing’s a problem.” — the mindset that changes everything The concept of your personal “field” and why it matters Turning a difficult conversation into a collaborative moment The visualization of placing a problem outside your body Requiring help instead of just hoping for it Practical Tools from This Episode: Try this simple 3-step reset next time you feel overwhelmed: Clear your field Imagine pushing the problem out of your personal space Ask (or require) help From your intuition, guides, or whatever you believe in Wait for the next step Don’t solve everything—just follow the first clear nudge Resources Mentioned: How to Read the Akashic Records – Linda Howe The Power of Intention – Wayne Dyer Jane's substack article featuring 'Nothings a problem! What Are the Akashic Records? Dr. Linda Howe on the Pathway Prayer and Soul-Led Living

Sarah and Jane sit down with Dr. Linda Howe, widely considered the leading international expert on the Akashic Records. If you've heard the term and still gotten a blank stare when you mention it to someone, this episode is your answer.  Linda starts from the ground up, explaining the records as a vibrational archive of every soul and its journey as a human being. No robed figures, no mystical gatekeeping. Just a profound and surprisingly accessible energetic field that anyone with a sincere desire to know themselves can enter. Linda walks us through the origin story of the Pathway Prayer Process, channeled at her kitchen table in 2001, the Saturday before 9/11 — and what it felt like to receive it. She talks about writing her original book, How to Read the Akashic Records, getting rejected by Hay House, telling the universe somebody else was going to have to call her, and then getting the call from Sounds True a year and a half later. That book has now been in the publisher's top 15 bestsellers since 2009, and Linda has just released a fully revised and expanded edition through Macmillan; 100 new pages and a glossary of terms developed through decades of teaching around the world. The conversation looks at what the records can actually offer: emotional safety, honest self-reflection, and the radical idea that our ultimate soul purpose is learning to love ourselves,  imperfection and all. Linda also shares what the records have to say about the current moment in the world, and why she believes real collective change has to start with the individual turning inward. Jane shares the story of the orange book basically chasing her around a crystal shop until she put it in her basket. We believe her. Key Takeaways: You cannot be removed from the record, and neither can anyone else. Every soul is part of the Akashic field. This isn't just a spiritual nicety — it's the architecture of why the records carry no judgment and hold space for every version of who we've been. The pathway prayer works by creating emotional safety, and emotional safety is what makes honest self-reflection possible. Linda's point is simple and worth sitting with: without that safety, growth isn't really growth. The records create the conditions for the kind of honesty we can't manufacture on our own. Most of us don't have one soul purpose — we have many. And underneath all of them is the same fundamental question: how do I learn to love myself, even now, even imperfect, even mid-mistake? The records orient us toward that question whether we come in asking for it or not. Real change in the world has to start inside each person. Linda's reading of the current moment through the records is that every institution people have looked to for change — political, religious, economic — has limits, and that a soul-led life is both the path and the point. Following the path that's truly yours often looks like not following the plan. Linda didn't set out to be the world's foremost Akashic Records teacher. She kept going because every time she thought she was done, the field revealed more. That orientation — staying open to what keeps unfolding — is something the records model and also teach. Even though I'm not perfect, even though I just made a mistake." "Anyone who wants to — anyone with a sincere desire to know their own soul more — can through the Akashic Record." She Saw Spirits for Years Before Knowing She Was a Medium -Tammy Tocheniuk

What happens when a woman who's been casually watching spirits walk through her bedroom walls for a decade finally learns she's a medium? For Tammy Tocheniuk, it was less of a revelation and more of a remembering. In this episode, Sarah and Jane sit down with the psychic medium and animal communicator who built an extraordinary practice almost entirely on her own terms, with zero formal training and zero apologies for it. Tammy shares how her gifts unfolded in layers, from reading the energy of adults in a room as a child, to waking up in her twenties with multiple spirits standing at the foot of her bed, to accidentally launching her mediumship career by helping a grieving coworker connect with a friend who had been murdered. She talks honestly about what it cost her, including adrenal fatigue, flashbacks from criminal cases, and a full year off from all things spiritual, and about why pivoting to animal communication changed everything. This conversation goes deep into what it actually feels like to communicate with animals in spirit versus animals who are still alive, why animals have a profoundly different relationship with death than humans do, how Tammy navigates one of the hardest conversations a pet owner can have (is it time?), and the reading that brought a husband to tears when his dog remembered the engagement ring around his neck. Tammy also gets candid about normalizing her gifts for her three sons, keeping a regular day job as a cover story, and why doing it her own way, without the usual cookie-cutter mediumship school training, turned out to be exactly right for her. Key Takeaways Psychic and mediumship gifts often emerge naturally over time rather than all at once. For many intuitives, the abilities unfold in layers across childhood, young adulthood, and beyond, whether you're actively seeking them out or not. Sometimes the most validating moment in a medium's journey isn't a dramatic reading. It's simply hearing the right word, the right label, and feeling something click into place like a remembering. Intense mediumship work, especially around trauma, crime, or grief, can lead to real physical and emotional exhaustion. Burnout is real, and stepping back, even for an extended period, is not giving up. It's part of the practice. Setting boundaries around the kind of work you take on is not a limitation on your gifts. It's how you sustain them. Knowing what you're willing to do and what you're not is part of developing as a medium. Not having formal training has both gifts and costs. Your voice stays your own, but mentorship and community matter, especially when it comes to protecting your energy and knowing when to ask for support. Animal communication and psychic work tend to require less energetic output than evidential mediumship. If you're feeling drained, exploring these modalities might offer a gentler on-ramp or a much-needed reset. Animals can be powerful messengers in readings, even when the session is focused on a person in spirit. Don't be surprised when they show up and steal the show. When communicating with animals around end-of-life decisions, the most important thing you can offer a grieving pet owner is peace, not a verdict. Meeting people where they are matters as much as the message itself. Animals have a profoundly different relationship with death than humans do. Their acceptance and presence can be a gift not just to their owners, but to the mediums and communicators who work with them. Normalizing your gifts in your everyday life, with your family, your kids, your language, helps create an environment where intuition is treated as natural rather than strange or scary. "I would wake up at night and there would be a spirit in my bedroom. Sometimes two, three, four of them at one time. And I call it seeing 3D. I was seeing them like a piece of furniture." "I rarely have an animal that's not accepting of death. It's very different than people. They seem to understand intuitively that this is a transition." "Their messages are fairly simple and straightforward. A lot of times, people just want to know: are they still there, and do they remember me?" How Near-Death Experiences Can Transform You (Even If You've Never Had One)

This week's Sunday solo starts with something that caught Sarah's attention in the news — the Artemis moon mission and the astronauts who came back changed. Looking at Earth from space, small enough to disappear behind a thumb, they returned with more interest in connection and meaning. Researchers have a name for it: the overview effect. And it got Sarah wondering — what else can crack us open like that without requiring us to leave the atmosphere? That question leads her into a deep dive on near-death experiences: what they are, what the research actually shows, who's done that research (hello, Dr. Bruce Greyson and his 50 years at UVA), and why NDEs have been quietly moving from the fringe into legitimate scientific conversation. She covers what experiencers commonly report — the altered time, the life review, the overwhelming and unconditional love — and the striking aftereffects that tend to follow people home: less fear of death, more compassion, deeper purpose, heightened intuition, and a sense of mission that doesn't fade. And then she makes her case for mediumship, because here's the thing: the love that pours through in a reading? It sounds a lot like what NDEers describe on the other side. NDEs tear the veil open in one dramatic, involuntary moment. Mediumship, and any serious spiritual practice, does the same thing more slowly, more deliberately, and as a practice you can return to. And here's the part that might surprise you: you don't even have to have an NDE to be changed by one. Studying them does it too. Which means this episode already counts.   Key Takeaways The overview effect is real and it's been documented. Astronauts who see Earth from space come back fundamentally changed — less focused on division, more oriented toward connection and meaning. NDEs produce the same shift. You don't have to go to space or to the edge of death to access it, but it helps to know it's possible. Near-death experiences are not hallucinations. Thanks largely to 50 years of research by Dr. Bruce Greyson at the University of Virginia, NDEs are now a legitimate scientific field. The Greyson NDE scale has been translated into 20 languages and used in hundreds of studies. This is not fringe territory anymore. What NDEers come back knowing reads like a blueprint for a spiritually evolved life. Loss of fear of death, heightened compassion, less attachment to status or material gain, deeper intuition, a sense of purpose — these are the aftereffects. And they tend to deepen over time, not fade. You don't have to die to be transformed by an NDE. Researcher Kenneth Ring found that students who simply studied NDEs were changed in the same ways as experiencers. Dr. Penny Sartori found the same thing after 17 years as an ICU nurse. Learning about them does something. This episode counts. Mediumship is doing deliberately what an NDE does accidentally. The overwhelming unconditional love that NDEers describe on the other side is the same energy that moves through a reading. It's the same landscape, accessed differently — slower, more intentional, and available as a daily practice.   Links NYT piece — "What I Saw When I Peeked Over the Edge of Consciousness" https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/07/opinion/near-death-conference-grief-chicago.html HuffPost NDE article (woman who choked on steak) https://www.huffpost.com/entry/choking-near-death-experience-nde-life-review_n_69a3753de4b0213c067615cf Dr. Bruce Greyson's book After on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/After-Doctor-Explores-Near-Death-Experiences/dp/1250263034 IANDS https://iands.org Kenneth Ring's book "Lessons from the Light" (2000)https://www.amazon.com/Lessons-Light-Learn-Near-Death-Experience/dp/1930491115 Near-death.com overview of Ring's research: https://near-death.com/kenneth-ring/ Previous episode with Mary Beth Pemberton (playwright and NDEer) https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/downloading-the-muse-writer-mary-beth-pemberton-on/id1726468626?i=1000730728932 Website: https://www.mediumcurious.com Explore the Intuition & Mediumship Course: https://www.mediumcurious.com Book a reading with Jane Morgan https://www.janemorganmedium.com/ Book a reading with Sarah Rathke https://www.sarahrathke.com/ Jane's Substack: https://janemorgan.substack.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mediumcuriouspod/

When Music Becomes Mediumship: Chris Dingman on Sound, Spirit, and the Vibraphone

*We're dusting off one of our favorites and putting it back on the turntable. This re-release is getting a second spin during our Spring Break.* Chris Dingman is a vibraphonist who shares his journey into music, the transformative power of sound, and how he surprisingly found mediumship. He discusses the unique qualities of the vibraphone, his experiences with grief, and how he uses music as a healing tool. The conversation also delves into his Bardo Bath events and the profound experiences of sound and color that accompany his music. The crew discusses spiritual experiences that inspire creativity, and the importance of curiosity in understanding one's mediumistic abilities. Chris talks about how he channels music and ultimately gets to why he loves playing music so much; it is the thrill of exploring the unknown in music creation.  Takeaways Transformational music sessions are designed for healing and reflection. Grief can manifest in many forms and deserves space for processing. Sound can create a liminal space for transcendence. Mediumship can be explored through music and personal experiences. The work of mediumship can be healing for both the practitioner and the recipient. Curiosity drives personal growth and understanding in mediumship. The journey of creation is often more valuable than the final product. Community plays a vital role in artistic endeavors. Exploration in music can lead to unexpected paths. How to Calm Your Nervous System; Sound Healing + Intuition with Chuck Rosenthal

Let’s calm our nervous systems using sound healing, breath, and presence; cause the news is legitimately insane and we all need it! It’s spring break over here, and in honor of your nervous system (and ours), for the next two weeks we’re bringing back two of our most soothing, supportive conversations. This is the first of two replays—a  soothing bath of an episode we loved then -episode 27 -and maybe need even more now at 97! Jane and Sarah actually took a field trip to prepare for this one (yes, really)—immersing themselves in a dreamy sound bath, lying beneath a canopy of redwoods, letting the nervous system finally take the wheel. The next day, they sat down with Chuck Rosenthal, founder of The Logos Method, to explore what it really means to build a relationship with your nervous system—and how sound can be a powerful bridge back to yourself. Chuck walks us through the difference between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, and how sound healing can help guide us out of stress and into restoration, intuition, and emotional processing. This conversation moves beyond relaxation into something deeper—exploring silence, energetic connection, and the subtle (but profound) ways we can support our own healing. Together, they explore the emotional releases that can happen in sound baths, the intelligence of the body, and why creating space for stillness might be one of the most important things we can do. There’s also a beautiful reminder that manifestation isn’t just about getting what we want—but aligning with how we serve. If your system’s been a little… jangly lately—this one’s for you. Takeaways Building a relationship with your nervous system changes everything Sound can be a powerful gateway to intuition and inner awareness The parasympathetic nervous system is where healing, calm, and clarity live Sound baths are a journey inward—not just relaxation Recognizing dysregulation is the first step toward healing Breath, sound, and stillness are accessible tools for emotional regulation Silence isn’t empty—it’s essential Deep healing often happens in subtle, internal ways Intuition becomes clearer when the body feels safe Creating space for these practices is part of the work Memorable Quotes from Chuck "We take our nervous system for granted." "Silence is not a familiar sound." "The silence has to come first, right?" You Are the Light: A Channeled Message for Intense Times

What is actually going on right now? If you’ve been feeling off, overwhelmed, and sensitive due to the intensity of everything happening—or like life is asking you to make a big change… this episode is for you. In this Sunday Solo, Jane does something a little scary (and brave): she channels a group of guides known as The Walters—interdimensional beings she’s been working with for the past few years. Together, they explore some of the biggest questions our community is asking right now: Why does everything feel so intense? Are we in some kind of energetic shift? Are signs and synchronicities real? What is the actual purpose of being here on Earth? And… what does it mean when your life or career no longer fits? What comes through is both expansive and surprisingly practical. According to the Walters, this moment isn’t something to fear—it’s something to care for. As the “light” within us increases, so does our sensitivity… and our responsibility to support ourselves. You are the light—the invitation is to learn how to hold and care for the light beam you are. In This Episode, We Explore: Why everything feels more intense right now (and why you’re not imagining it) The concept of “light embodiment” and what it means for your daily life Whether we’re actually in a global or energetic shift Why “being present” might be more important than understanding timelines The truth about signs and synchronicities (and how to receive more of them) A simple visualization to reconnect with your natural state (hint: become a rose 🌹) The deeper purpose of being in the “3D” human experience Why pain and contrast are not signs you’re doing life wrong What it means when your job or identity no longer fits—and how to respond How to support your energy (sleep, water, clearing, sunlight, emotional care) Quotes from This Episode “The intensity right now is real. You are not imagining it.” “You are the light—and when the light increases, so does the intensity.” “Your job is not to figure out time. Your job is to be here now.” “Signs are real—and they meet you at your state of being.” “You are here to experience it all—not to get it perfect.” “If you’re being called to something different, that is your evolution speaking.” “This life is not a test—it’s an experience.” “You will never fully understand how much light you bring while you’re here.” Mentioned in This Episode The Walters (Jane’s channeled guides) Listener-submitted questions from the Medium Curious community Jane’s Previous solo about channeled materials Connect With Us We love hearing from you—and we really do respond to every message. And if you've got a burning question, drop it in the comments or send it our way. What You'll Learn in This Episode: How to tell if a medium is genuinely connecting with spirit versus reading you psychically — and why the emotional texture of a reading is often the biggest clue Whether mediums encounter scary or negative spirits (and why being in a body gives you more power than you might think) The truth about being "on" in public — and that one time Sarah felt a spirit come through at Costco How Jane knew she was ready to start charging for readings, and what the vetting process through Very Soul actually looks like What to do when a sitter says "no" to your evidence — and why "no" sometimes just means "not yet" The "me / not me" energy sovereignty technique for clearing your field — and how a Clair Club member used it brilliantly at a horse clinic The difference between monkey mind and intuition, and how to use your body as a compass Key Takeaways: A great mediumship reading isn't just facts and figures — it's the feeling of your person actually being in the room. When a medium captures someone's personality, their emotions, their little inside jokes, that's the real evidence. You don't have to walk around "open" all the time. Both Sarah and Jane keep their mediumistic antenna down in daily life — and they're better mediums for it. Being in a body is a superpower. As Sarah puts it, embodied energy is more powerful than any energy that isn't embodied. Awareness of your own field is how you move through the world — and through your work. When a sitter says no, don't drop it. Sit with it, come at it differently, trust that the information is there for a reason. Sometimes the validation comes a full year later — just ask Jane and Tony Stockwell. Monkey mind grasps and arcs. Intuition is slower, calmer, and lives lower in the body. Learning the difference is a practice — and being a medium essentially forces you to get good at it. "Sometimes I'll just be filled with the love that spirit has for their person. I could see an 80-year-old on the other screen and think, you are the most adorable, beautiful person in the whole entire world — and it's just because spirit is making me look at them through those eyes." — Sarah "We're literally mediums — in the middle. We're just here to help that really amazing transaction happen, and we don't even know sometimes what's happened." — Jane If this show has meant something to you, the best way to help more people find it is to leave a rating and review. Your Biggest Mediumship Questions Answered: Consciousness, Guides, the Akashic Records & More

Sarah and Jane are in the hot seat — answering YOUR most burning questions about mediumship, intuition, and life on both sides of the veil. From the mind-bending mystery of consciousness to the surprisingly comforting truth about whether your grandmother in spirit is watching you put on your Spanx (spoiler: she really doesn't care), this episode is a warm, funny, and genuinely illuminating Q&A. They cover how to access the Akashic Records, why connecting with guides feels so frustratingly subtle, how being a medium actually makes you a better parent, and practical tips for trusting your intuition without letting your thinky brain hijack the whole thing. No definitive answers — just two mama mediums sharing their experience with honesty, humor, and a whole lot of heart. Loved this episode? Download it, share it, and follow Medium Curious so you never miss a Q&A. And if you have a question you want us to answer on the next one, send it to mediumcurious.com. We read every single one. KEY TAKEAWAYS Consciousness is THE question — Sarah and Jane explore how consciousness, presence, God, and Source may all be different words for the same ineffable thing. You're not just in it — you are it. The Akashic Records are real and accessible — Sarah shares her first unexpected visit and how she now uses Linda Howe's Pathway Prayer to ask specific questions and get specific answers. Spirit isn't watching you in the shower — Loved ones on the other side experience our dimension very differently. They're not judging. There's only compassion. Guides are subtler than you think — The reason you can't clearly identify your guides is because they're so close to you they feel like you. It's believe-it-to-see-it, not the other way around. Get out of your thinky brain — Intuition lives in the body — gut, heart, and felt sense. The moment you run guidance through your analytical brain, you lose the signal. Meditation doesn't have to be formal — Two minutes in the carpool line, a walk without headphones, or simply feeling your feet on the ground counts. Presence is the practice. Being a medium makes you a better parent — Developing emotional awareness, sitting with anxiety rather than escaping it, and learning to mother yourself first all translate directly to how you show up for your kids. Oracle cards are a legit guidance tool — Both Sarah and Jane use them to communicate with guides, and yes — it counts. QUOTES "It's the mystery that we're in." — Sarah "We're like a terminal. You go to the library and you log in — that's us. We gather all the experiences and bring them back to the bigger picture." — Jane "Presence is consciousness. It's just magic." — Sarah "Spirit has no judgment. There's just so much compassion for what we're going through as human beings." — Sarah "It's not see-it-to-believe-it. It's believe-it-to-believe-it." — Jane "Keep it out of the thinky brain. If you process it through your gut, through your intuition, it's going to come like a pop — quick, surprising, and fun." — Sarah "If you zoom out far enough, you are spirit. You are as big a picture as any of the rest of it." — Sarah "You're not spirit in a body. Your body is just a little part of your big old spirit." — Jane How to Read the Akashic Records by Linda Howe — the book Sarah references with the Pathway Prayer https://www.amazon.com/How-Read-Akashic-Records-Accessing/dp/1591797632 Linda Howe's website & Center for Akashic Studies https://www.lindahowe.com Website: https://www.mediumcurious.com Explore the Intuition & Mediumship Course: https://www.mediumcurious.com Book a reading with Sarah Rathke https://www.sarahrathke.com/ Book a reading with Jane Morgan https://www.janemorganmedium.com/ Jane's Substack: https://janemorgan.substack.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mediumcuriouspod/

How to Hold Uncertainty and Magic at the Same Time ~ And Live the Mystery

What if not having it all figured out isn't a problem — it's actually the point? In this Sunday Solo, Sarah sits inside one of life's most disorienting truths: that loss, magic, grief, and wonder don't cancel each other out — they live at the same table. Inspired by two beautiful books (The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown and An Immense World by Ed Yong), a season of unexpected loss, and the synchronicities that showed up anyway, Sarah explores what it really means to be a spirit in a body — and why the mystery isn't a gap where answers should be. It is the thing itself. Takeaways The mystery isn't "out there" — it's us. We aren't separate from the unknown; we are the unknown, experiencing itself through human form. Your brain is a receiver, not the source. Dan Brown's noetic science-inspired novel points to research suggesting consciousness circulates outside the body — and mediums, meditators, and intuitives may simply have learned to receive more of what's already here. Every being lives in its own reality. Ed Yong's An Immense World shows us that a bird, a dog, and a rattlesnake in the same dark room each experience a completely different world — and our human experience, as vivid as it is, isn't the whole picture. Grief and magic live at the same table. Sarah shares the real losses that surrounded the making of this episode — and how synchronicities kept arriving anyway, right in the middle of it. The best mediumship connections come through surrender. Letting go of controlling the outcome — and releasing the need to please the sitter — is what actually opens the channel. Curiosity over control, every time. Not getting a connection is not a failure. Spirit has its own agenda. Sarah shares openly that it doesn't always work — and why that's part of the mystery, not a mark against the medium. Reframe "uncertainty" as "spaciousness." The mystery doesn't have to feel terrifying. What if it's actually full of potential? Direct Quotes & Soundbites "Grief and loss sit at the same table with magic and joy. And somewhere in the middle of it is where the mystery lives. That's where we live." "The best connections come when I surrender — when I stop trying to control the outcome and just allow spirit to lead." "It requires curiosity, and it requires being willing to sit inside the mystery without demanding from it." "We don't have to solve the cosmos to belong to it. We don't have to understand the divine to have a divine experience. We are the divine. We are the mystery." "All of creation experiences itself through you." — channeled phrase from Sarah's February meditation Books Mentioned The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown — a #1 NYT Bestseller thriller weaving noetic science, consciousness research, and the question of what survives physical death. Dan Brown spent 8 years researching and went in a skeptic; he came out convinced. An Immense World by Ed Yong — a Pulitzer Prize-winning exploration of how every species perceives its own version of reality. One of Barack Obama's favorite books of the year. Monarch IV~Spirit is Fancy: Real Signs, Synchronicities & Messages from Loved Ones in Spirit

If you've ever wondered whether Spirit is actually listening, this episode is your answer! Sarah and Jane are back with the fourth installment of the beloved Monarch series, and it might just be the most magical one yet. Listener stories pour in from all corners: a song that played at exactly the right moment, a turtle who showed up in a sealed garage the morning after a funeral, a Greyhound bus that keeps appearing on the highway, oracle cards that seemed to write themselves, and a bunny sign that crossed timelines. These are real people with REAL stories. And heck yeah, Spirit is fancy! If you'd like to see pictures that are related to these stories, please visit Medium Curious instagram or MediumCurious.com  *More Monarch magic would come to life with your help - can you please share, comment, and download. We truly love hearing from you — wanna share your sign with us? What You'll Hear in This Episode Jenny's Story — Her dad in Spirit hijacks her music app with the exact lyric she needed to hear — not once, but twice, years apart Scott's Story — A medium delivers a message about a bunny before the sign appears — and then it shows up in spades on his hardest day Nicole's Story — Grieving after letting her dog Ella go, she pulls three oracle cards that say: exactly what she needs to hear. Sarah Jane's Story — A Greyhound bus becomes one of the most unexpectedly specific and persistent signs from her person in Spirit. Kisa's Story — Her son Cole, who passed unexpectedly, sends a turtle running out of a garage that hadn't been opened in a month — and then keeps sending more turtles and other magic Marisa's Story — A talented artist and Clair Club member shares how her artwork was being negotiated from the other side Key Takeaways Signs don't follow your timeline — they follow Spirit's. Multiple stories in this episode involve messages that were delivered before the moment they were needed, pointing to the idea that Spirit operates outside of linear time. The specificity of a sign is the message. A golf ball in an industrial park. A Greyhound bus. A turtle in a closed garage. Spirit isn't subtle~! You don't have to be a medium to receive. Jenny, Scott, Nicole, Sarah Jane, Kisa, Marisa — none of them set out to be "psychic." They were just open and signs found them. Grief and magic can live in the same place. As Scott's grandmother said in a private session with Jane: he's not not grieving — he's living, living, living. So stunning! Curiosity is the channel. The people in these stories weren't stomping their feet and asking.....they were paying attention and collaborating with the universe.  "When you get a sign like that, it just changes everything for that day. It really does the trick." — Sarah, on Scott's bunny sign "Not not grieving — living, living, living." — Scott's grandmother, via Jane, on how Scott is moving through loss "Once you're tuning into this material, the material is all here for you." — Jane Marisa White’s Website: https://www.marisaswhite.com/ Trust falll!  Scott Darlington’s Substack: https://substack.com/@mescottyd Website: https://www.mediumcurious.com Join Clair Club:  https://www.mediumcurious.com/digital-products-2-1 Explore the Intuition & Mediumship Course: https://www.mediumcurious.com Book a reading with Sarah Rathke https://www.sarahrathke.com/ Book a reading with Jane Morgan https://www.janemorganmedium.com/ Explore Jane's New Higher Calling Cohort https://www.janemorganmedium.com/higher-calling Jane's Substack: https://janemorgan.substack.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mediumcuriouspod/

From Paranormal Investigations to Spirit Boxes: How Psychic Medium Lauren Nichols Is Demystifying the Spirit World

Freeing people from the fear of death frees them to live authentically. To Lauren, this is the deepest gift of mediumship – and it's also the crack in the foundation of the systems that keep people small. Jane and Sarah sit down with Lauren Nichols, a Boston-based psychic medium, former paranormal investigator, federal government employee, and new mama. Lauren shares how a period of personal upheaval led her to wander graveyards for peace — and ultimately to capture full-body spirit apparitions on camera. What started as an unlikely foray into paranormal investigation blossomed into a full mediumship practice centered on one core mission: making spirit communication accessible, human, and far less scary. The conversation moves from reframing "haunted house" phenomena as simple requests for connection, to the surprising ways motherhood has cracked Lauren's mediumship wide open, to her use of Spirit Box technology for live, audible communication with the deceased. Lauren also reflects on the current cultural and political moment through both her government lens and her spiritual one — and makes a compelling case that mediums may be uniquely positioned to help humanity evolve. Spirits aren't trying to scare you -  they're trying to talk to you. Lauren reframes poltergeist-style activity not as malevolent force, but as an expression of a soul's desire to communicate. Shifting from fear to curiosity, and from "entity" to "person," changes the entire dynamic of the experience. Fear of the spirit world is learned, not innate. Lauren argues that we aren't born afraid of spirit -  that fear is conditioned into us through Hollywood, culture, and religious framing. Humanizing spirits by seeing them as people first dissolves much of that fear. Motherhood is one of the most powerful mediumship development tools there is. After pausing her practice in early motherhood, Lauren discovered that survival mode had burned away her perfectionism and need to "try." The result? Deeper trust, more relaxed connection, and an ability to do more with less. You don't have to have everything together to serve spirit. The pressure to be "ready" or "perfect" before showing up as a medium is a trap. Presence and trust matter far more than polish. Spirit Box / ITC technology is alive and accessible. Instrumental Transcommunication — the practice of using radio frequency scanners to communicate with spirit — has roots going back to Tesla and Edison. Lauren uses a Spirit Box live and has heard her own family members' voices through it. She believes this technology can bring an additional layer of evidential healing to mediumship. Mediums have a unique role in the current collective reckoning. Lauren draws on her government career and channeling practice to articulate what she sees happening culturally: a dismantling of identity politics, a call to acknowledge privilege, and a collective push toward unity. She believes mediums — already practiced at clearing themselves and holding space — are well-suited to lead that conversation. Freeing people from the fear of death frees them to live authentically. To Lauren, this is the deepest gift of mediumship — and it's also the crack in the foundation of the systems that keep people small. On reframing scary spirit activity: "When you view it in your mind as something that is foreign — you're doing yourself and them a disservice, because you're not giving them the credit of being human first and foremost." On motherhood and mediumship: "Since having him, I have found more enjoyment and more ability to relax in my mediumship. I don't put so much stock in what I'm doing. I just trust." On perfectionism and presence: "The more you try, the less you do. Once you've been in survival mode and you've come out of it, everything else is just small beans — and you just have to be present for it." Wonder and Awe: The Medicine for Uncertain Times | Grounded Spirituality for Empaths

(Mercury Retrograde Re-Release) In true Mercury retrograde fashion, this week’s recording disappeared — so we’re bringing back a favorite conversation from a year ago about wonder, awe, and grounded spirituality. If you’re an empath feeling overwhelmed by collective energy, navigating spiritual awakening, or trying to stay grounded in uncertain times, this episode is for you. Sarah and Jane explore how wonder and awe regulate the nervous system, counter fear, and help us evolve consciously — without spiritually bypassing our very human experience. (fyi the announcements edited into the middle are from Spring 2026!!) They also dive into conversations around the New Earth, 5D consciousness, awakening, and what it really means to evolve spiritually… without spiritually bypassing our very human experience. We are being called, in this specific moment (and that one too!*), to show up as our authentic selves. To ground into our humanity while embracing our higher selves. To celebrate differences in community. When we do that, we expand into limitless possibility. How’s that for medicine? Takeaways Wonder and awe counteract fear and anxiety. Grounded humanity is essential during spiritual evolution. Conflict can catalyze growth and new perspectives. Delight in the present moment supports well-being. Trusting intuition helps us navigate uncertainty. Presence is a powerful healing force. Every person’s journey and wiring is unique. Telepathy may represent a future form of truth-based communication (yes, including with pets). Mediumship creates love and connection beyond the physical. Nature restores and regulates the nervous system. Community matters — especially now. Talking to Flowers – Plant Intelligence & Intuition with Mary Porter Kerns

What if flowers are more than beautiful? What if they’re speaking? Nature might be the medicine we need right now! In this heart warming episode of Medium Curious, Sarah and Jane sit down with Mary Porter Kerns—writer, flower communicator, and creator of The Flowers Are Speaking—for a soulful conversation about plant intelligence, intuition, imagination, and our ancient relationship with the natural world. Mary shares how her connection with flowers evolved over time, from gardening and houseplants to receiving direct messages from flowers through meditation and free writing. She opens up about the turning point that helped her trust her inner knowing (“what if it doesn’t matter if it’s ‘real’?”), how flowers can offer emotional and spiritual support, and why reconnecting with nature may be one of the most important things we can do in challenging times. The conversation weaves through magnolias, hellebores, dandelions, forest bathing, flower essences, imagination vs. intuition, and the deeper “long story” of interconnection between humans, flowers, and the living world. It’s mystical, grounded, funny, and deeply comforting. Flowers are more than decoration — Mary describes them as sentient beings with ancient wisdom and emotional intelligence. Intuition and imagination work together — not as opposites, but as a two-way street that opens deeper perception. Nature can help regulate the nervous system — especially in times of collective stress and overwhelm. Flowers may communicate through emotion — Mary believes plants sense our emotional states and respond in their own language. You can begin connecting with flowers right now — by noticing which flower/plant draws you in, observing its qualities, and free-writing what it wants to say. The “long story” matters — flowers hold deep evolutionary memory and can help us remember cycles, patience, and interconnection. Cut flowers are not “bad” — Mary offers a beautiful, loving perspective on bringing flowers into the home as a reciprocal relationship. Hellebore as a message for this moment — Mary shares a powerful emerging insight about shock, madness, and collective wake-up calls. This work is both mystical and timely — Mary bridges the science of plant intelligence with the heart and soul of direct relationship. “If we can be connected with nature the way our ancestors used to be… then we might actually revere all people as sacred as well.” — Mary Porter Kerns “What if it doesn’t matter if it’s real or not? It’s real in some realm.” — Mary Porter Kerns “Dreams and wishes matter… because dreams can change our DNA.” — Mary Porter Kerns “Our imagination can open up our intuition. Our intuition can allow our imagination.” — Mary Porter Kerns “Quit taking flowers for granted. Reincarnation and the Akashic Records: How to Access the Long Story

Reincarnation and the Akashic Records: How to Access the Long Story   In this Sunday Solo, Sarah explores “the long story”—the idea that our lives are part of a vast web of interconnection across people, lifetimes, timelines, and dimensions. She shares why zooming out can be genuinely soothing (your anxiety stays valid… it just gets smaller), then offers personal stories that cracked open her trust in reincarnation: a striking synchronicity thread featuring Robert Redford, and her child’s vivid memories of an “old dad.” Sarah also explains how she experiences the Akashic Records—less like immediate, verifiable proof and more like resonance, pattern recognition, and a deep felt sense of being seen without judgment. The episode closes with an invitation: try shifting perspective into the long story, and share your own experiences.   Keywords + topics: Medium Curious Podcast, Sarah solo, long story, zooming out of anxiety, reincarnation, past lives, soul groups, Akashic Records, synchronicities, spiritual comfort, metaphysical, consciousness, intuition, mediumship, Perdita Finn, Jim Tucker, Linda Howe, pathway prayer. Key Takeaways Perspective is medicine. Zooming out doesn’t invalidate anxiety—it helps it stop running the whole show. Follow the thread. Synchronicities can be “breadcrumb trails” that build meaning over minutes, weeks… or lifetimes. Kids sometimes say the quiet part out loud. Past-life-style memories (whether you interpret them literally or symbolically) can reveal how mysterious consciousness is. Akashic Records = resonance over receipts. For Sarah, the records feel less like “proof” and more like pattern, knowing, and deep compassion. The long story reduces pressure. If love and learning continue, you don’t have to perfect everything in one lifetime. Scarcity shifts with consciousness. A change in mindset—from separation to “one with the cosmos”—can change the felt experience of need.   “When you're losing yourself, who you are, go sit under a tree.” “There is no way that I can suffer from scarcity when I know that I am one with the cosmos.”   Linda Howe: How to Read the Akashic Records; Accessing the Archive of the Soul and its Journey Jim Tucker  Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children's Memories of Previous Lives Medium Curious Website: https://www.mediumcurious.com Jane’s Website: https://www.janemorganmedium.com Sarah’s Website: https://www.sarahrathke.com Jane's new cohort 'Source Studio'; https://www.janemorganmedium.com/higher-calling Instagram: @mediumcuriouspod https://mediumcuriouspod.substack.com/

You Don’t Need to Know How It Works: Mediumship, Intuition, and Learning to Trust Spirit

What happens when a former corporate guy, Scott Darlington—who used to want a spreadsheet, a script, and a map for everything—starts living by signs, synchronicities, and soul-level trust? In this episode of The Medium Curious Podcast, Sarah and Jane sit down with Scott Darlington for a funny, heartfelt conversation about how mediumship development, Clair Club practice, and communication across the veil can completely rewire the way you understand your life. Scott shares how his late husband, David, became a clear and persistent communicator—using stars as a sign language to nudge him toward big changes (including sobriety) and to confirm he’s on the right path. Together, they explore what it means to be heart-led instead of brain-led, why you don’t have to understand how intuition works in order to receive it, and how grief can crack a person open in a way that expands love, presence, and psychic sensitivity. Along the way: David “manages wardrobes,” Claire Club hearts turn into “Star Hearts,” and the tech literally glitches mid-session—because apparently the energy is that real. This is an episode about trust, love, and remembering that the connection is open—whether you acknowledge it or not. Key Takeaways You don’t need to understand how intuition works to use it. “No manual” doesn’t mean it isn’t real. Sign language with Spirit can be personal and repeatable. Scott’s “multiple stars” became a clear confirmation system. The heart is the engine. Clair work gets clearer when you quiet the brain and lead with heart-based connection. Grief can expand intuitive capacity. A loss can open the heart wider—viscerally, physically, and spiritually. Trust is a practice, not a personality trait. The message keeps coming: “It doesn’t need to be this hard.” Getting out of your own way is the work. Doubt and conditioning (church, materialism, “be professional”) shut down the signal. Psychic vs. mediumship can feel different. Psychic intuition may “flow,” while mediumship may require a slower, more present connection. You’re allowed to be special without ego. Confidence doesn’t have to equal arrogance—it can be alignment. Connection is soul-to-soul. This isn’t “brain to brain”—it’s love-based recognition across lifetimes. Sometimes the energy does blow out the tech. And yes, it’s weirdly on brand. “We already know what we want… we just doubt it and we get in our own head.” — Scott   “I’m a former corporate America guy… David died and I quit my job like two months later.” — Scott   That’s the point of life…is love.” — Scott   Scott’s Instagram: @meScottyD   Scott’s Substack: https://substack.com/@mescottyd?r=uplo&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=profile&shareImageVariant=image Medium Curious Website: https://www.mediumcurious.com Jane’s Website: https://www.janemorganmedium.com Sarah’s Website: https://www.sarahrathke.com Jane's new cohort 'Source Studio'; https://www.janemorganmedium.com/higher-calling Instagram: @mediumcuriouspod https://mediumcuriouspod.substack.com/

Along the way, we hear about sobriety as a doorway to spiritual clarity, why nature and water can be medicine, and how an honest conversation can transform decades of tension into something they lovingly call “deep fun.” There’s also a masterclass in intention-setting (hello, Maldives whale shark!), the tenderness of making peace before a transition, and the simplest, truest mantra of the whole hour: life is trustable… maybe.   Key Takeaways Sometimes intuition speaks once—and that’s the point. A single “voice” can be loud enough to change how you trust yourself forever. Sobriety can be a spiritual boundary, not just a lifestyle choice. They name alcohol as a quick way to lose energy sovereignty—especially for sensitive people. Mediumship without boundaries can feel scary, not magical. The difference-maker is learning to choose what you connect with—and what you don’t. Nature is nervous system medicine. Water, rivers, and the outdoors aren’t just pretty—they can be clearing, resetting, and stabilizing. Healing a parent–child relationship can be surprisingly practical. Say the hard thing. Let it land. Let repair be real. Then—laugh. (That part matters.) “Deep fun” is a legit spiritual path. Depth doesn’t have to be grim. Joy can be devotional. Intentions work better when they’re specific. Not just “have a good trip”—but every step: airport lines, flights, energy, even the whale shark. Your identity can evolve without losing what you love. Letting go of ego around a passion can bring it back to you… cleaner and sweeter. A new mantra for uncertain times: “Life is trustable… maybe.” (And sometimes “maybe” is enough to keep going.)   “I’ve always had a very strong intuition and I’ve always listened to it.” —Polly “People don’t really need me. I want to help them have their own connection without me.” —Polly “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoice in it.” —Maya “Life is trustable… maybe.” —Maya   Polly Green’s Website: https://www.pollyandtheotherside.com/ Medium Curious Website: https://www.mediumcurious.com Jane’s Website: https://www.janemorganmedium.com Sarah’s Website: https://www.sarahrathke.com Jane's new cohort 'Source Studio'; https://www.janemorganmedium.com/higher-calling Instagram: @mediumcuriouspod Medium Curious Substack

How to Hold a Vision: Using Imagination and Intuition to Create a Better Future

A Sunday solo recorded last week when Jane was deep in Sundance energy—packed theaters, popcorn, Q&As, and that electric feeling of watching filmmakers live inside the moment where years of grit and devotion finally become real. It’s like watching the Olympics - which is - yay! Happening this week. And yet… it’s also been a time of profound dissonance: joy in community, despair in the headlines, and that gut-punch awareness that not everyone gets to feel safe walking out their front door. So today I want to talk about something that feels urgently needed right now—for your personal projects, your family, and our nation: The practice of holding a vision. Not as escapism. Not as a 'let's buy something else'. But as an active, stabilizing, creative force—especially when the world feels like it’s cracking. In this episode, I share: Why Sundance reminded me that visions don’t become real by accident—they become real through sustained attention A wild personal story about a soulmate “vision” that eventually led me to meet my husband at Denver International Airport How the Hero’s Journey shows us what happens when you say yes to a calling (spoiler: tests, allies, ordeals… and flying monkeys) A stunning excerpt from our upcoming guest Mary Porter-Kearns (The Flowers Are Speaking) on imagination, biology, and evolution Why it’s possible (and necessary) to hold both the dark and the light—without surrendering either A simple 1-minute visioning practice you can start immediately Quotes from the episode Shakti Gawain “The more we trust and follow our intuition, the more our lives flow, the more we contribute to the evolution of the whole.” “Trust is the key to transformation. When you trust yourself, you know how to live.” “When we align with our highest vision, we naturally act in ways that support the greater good.” Mary Porter-Kearns (teaser from an upcoming episode) Dreams and wishes matter… sustained imagination and emotional focus can reshape neural networks and influence patterns of gene expression. Our dreams are not mere thoughts—they are biological signals that help direct how we grow and adapt. (When her episode drops, you’ll understand why I’m obsessed.) A tiny practice: 1 minute of visioning If meditation feels like too much right now, try this: Sit for one minute Picture a future that feels beautiful, safe, and sane Let it welcome you Attend to it and notice how it makes you feel better When you can, as best as you can. Volume Control for Highly Sensitive Humans: Jen Butler on Sobriety, Spirit Encounters, and the Skill of Not Reacting

Content Note: This episode includes discussion of suicidality and self-harm. We hold this conversation with care, but please listen in the way that best supports your nervous system and well-being. ~~ What happens when you get sober—and your intuition gets loud? In this powerful, funny, and deeply honest conversation, Jen Butler (author, screenwriter, actor, comedian, and creator of Volume Control) joins Sarah Rathke and Jane Morgan to talk about sobriety as a spiritual turning point, feeling psychically “wide open,” and learning energetic boundaries when you’re a highly sensitive person. Jen shares her journey from numbing and atheism “lite,” to terrifying spirit experiences, to building real nervous-system safety and emotional regulation. You’ll hear practical tools for energetic clearing, why “don’t talk about it” can make fear worse, how to feel anger without labeling it “low vibration,” and a mind-blowing “future self” story that will stay with you. Plus: reincarnation signs, “effin' tea,” salt baths, sage, and the reality that being human is… a lot. Takeaways Sobriety can turn the volume up—emotionally and psychically. When the numbing stops, your sensitivity may feel raw at first, but it can become a superpower with skills and support. Energetic boundaries aren’t just salt and sage. Tools can help, but the foundation is learning to feel safe in your body and regulate your nervous system. “We don’t talk about that” makes fear worse. Avoiding dark topics (spirits, depression, suicidality, “demons”) can amplify shame and isolation instead of helping you move through it. Meditation isn’t quieting your mind—it’s not reacting. The muscle is staying present while thoughts and feelings move through, and choosing not to spiral or act from alarm. Your past self deserves compassion—not criticism. Healing can look like “future you” showing up to hold “past you” through the worst moments. Highly sensitive people can build big lives. You might need more tools, more rest, and more honesty—but you don’t have to stay small. “Being human’s a lot.” “It’s all about emotional regulation.” Links Jen Butler’s Website: https://www.jenbutlersays.com/ Medium Curious: https://www.mediumcurious.com Jane: https://www.janemorganmedium.com Sarah: https://www.sarahrathke.com Jane’s new cohort, Source Studio: https://www.janemorganmedium.com/higher-calling Instagram: @mediumcuriouspod Substack: https://mediumcuriouspod.substack.com/ -- Support Note: If you or someone you love is struggling or feeling unsafe, you don’t have to go through it alone. How to Clear Heavy Energy: Angels and Energy Protection for Sensitive Souls!

In this conversational “hangout” episode, Jane Morgan and Sarah Rathke invite listeners into a real-time catch-up—recorded Monday, January 26—because the collective intensity is loud right now and pretending it isn’t there isn’t helping. Sarah and Jane just keep coming back to the truth that we need to anchor the light. Jane shares a playful-but-profound experiment: going on a “date with Spirit” (yes, with a notebook), including an unexpected “celebrity spirit” moment that becomes less about proof and more about impact—did it fill her up, steady her, and bring her back to light? From there, the conversation goes deeper: What do we do with “darkness” (in the world and in the unseen)? Why some mediums don’t talk about entities/demons at all—and why Sarah and Jane are choosing a more nuanced stance: just because they haven’t experienced something doesn’t mean it isn’t real for someone else. They also share practical, body-based and energetics-based ways to recover when you’re tuned into the fear, rage, uncertainty, and grief of the collective—plus why technology can feel “static” to the nervous system and energy field, and how to clear it fast. What You’ll Hear in This Episode A simple, beautiful way to strengthen mediumship: “make a friendship with Spirit” Jane’s “date with Spirit” + what to do when your logical brain yells “BS” The difference between working in high vibration (mediumship) vs. getting pulled into heavy energetic residue How trauma/addiction can create its own “energy field” that feels entity-like Signs you’re “swamped” (fear, panic, anxiety) and how to reset quickly Practical tools: hands-on-body breathing, grounding + “as above, so below,” bubble-clearing, nature, water-blessing, and calling in angels A candid behind-the-scenes moment: podcast production strain, tech glitches, and why ratings/reviews matter Key Takeaways Impact matters. Whether an experience is “provable” isn’t always the point—if it steadies you, opens you, and brings you back to love, that ripple is real. Discernment is the job right now. You can engage what’s hard without living there—pause, check your state, choose your next input. Heavy energy can cling when you move too fast. Especially after intense readings or intense news cycles—clear your field before you jump to the next thing. Your body is your quickest reset button. Hands to chest + belly, breathe, drink water, get outside, come back into your senses. You can choose light without denying darkness. “Pretending it doesn’t exist” isn’t the solution; meeting it with grounded presence is. Ask for help (even if you feel silly). Prayer, angels, guides, ancestors, “higher power”—call it what you want. The act of reaching changes your state. Practical “Anchor the Light” Tools Mentioned Swamp-check: notice fear/panic/anxiety as a cue to pause and repair Hands on body: one hand on chest, one on belly, slow breath Bless/charge water: set intention before drinking (love, calm, clarity) Root + light column (“as above, so below”): earth connection + higher connection meeting in your core Clear the bubble/field: remove what isn’t yours (breath, imagery, “vacuum,” “broom,” etc.), then call your energy back Nature as a reset: “Tree, fix me.” (Honestly.) Call in help: angels/ascended masters/Spirit team—especially when you’re past your own capacity   “We have to grab every little straw of joy.” “The power… is awareness.” “We are being called to anchor the light… so that we can illuminate the darkness.” Can you be our angels? In the Age of Intuition, Connection Is Your Superpower

Trying to make sense of everything? Same. In this episode, Sarah explores the ripple effect—how everything is interconnected in the 3D world, and how that connection extends into the unseen world, too. She looks at why collective stress doesn’t stay localized (climate, economies, the internet, COVID—pick your portal), why synchronicities can feel like the “matrix is thin,” and how spirit communication reminds us that relationship doesn’t end when someone dies. Then Sarah shares her personal practice for anchoring the light: a grounding + “as above, so below” visualization designed to help regulate the nervous system, expand the capacity for love, and hold the field with intention—without draining personal energy. And to be clear: this isn’t spiritual bypassing. Action, accountability, and engagement still matter. The question is—can it all be done from radical love instead of fear? Key Words anchoring the light, hold the field, nervous system regulation, spiritual grounding practice, intuition in chaotic times, collective consciousness, Maharishi effect, synchronicities, spirit communication, energy protection visualization, radical love not fear, Medium Curious Podcast, Sarah Sunday Solo Your nervous system is part of the medicine. Regulation increases capacity—for awareness, compassion, and effective action. Interconnection is not a concept—it’s a lived reality. What happens anywhere ripples everywhere: biologically, economically, emotionally, and energetically. Fear creates separation; felt connection restores power. When we identify as separate, we become reactive. When we feel connected, we reclaim sovereignty Healing spreads the same way harm does. One regulated person can stabilize a household; one steady household can shift a community. Anchor the light without draining yourself. Pull support from earth energy below and divine light above—don’t run everything on personal willpower. Action still matters. Love isn’t “do nothing.” Love is the frequency you bring while you engage, organize, protect, document, and show up.   “When we’re calibrated, we have the capacity for more… more awareness, more light, more compassion, more love.”   “It’s not just the fact that he is communicating from the other side. It’s about interconnection.”   “We need action and we need engagement… We just need to be doing it from the frequency of radical love and not fear.”   Join us on Substack for The Afterlife—bonus clips after the “mic is off” (wink). Consciousness Embodied: Jeff Kober on Compassion, Paradox, and Expanding Your Capacity for Reality

Actor and meditation teacher Jeff Kober joins Medium Curious for a wide-ranging, funny, and helpful conversation about the mystery: why trying to force “concrete truth” can make our world smaller and more painful—and how learning to live in the question can reopen hope, possibility, and compassion. Jeff shares his origin story as a “reluctant meditator,” describing the inner hell of obsessive thoughts, the surprise of discovering he’s not his mind, and why spiritual practice isn’t about escaping life—it’s about imbuing each moment with consciousness, including grief, fear, anger, shame, and joy. Along the way - Sarah, Jane, and Jeff explore ego, “knowers,” skepticism and mediumship, creativity as a spiritual path (acting, directing, orchestral music), and what it means to be an example of love without pretending you’ve “got it.” The “concrete truth” trap: When someone’s certainty becomes unassailable, real conversation ends—and so does growth. Live in the question: Not having the answers isn’t failure; it can be the practice. Meditation creates space: Jeff describes the shift from “my thoughts are me” to “my thoughts are over there.” Ego wants safety now: Separation fuels fear and control; remembering oneness invites compassion. How to deal with “knowers”: Stay supple—and “be the bullfighter, not the cape.” Art is a spiritual training ground: Acting, directing, and playing music all rehearse presence, collaboration, vulnerability, and truth. Skepticism can be healthy: Jeff stays open to spirit and meaning without forcing the “how.” The point isn’t only “good vibes”: Consciousness wants the full human experience—joy and the honest depths of sadness, shame, anger, and grief. You’re not ruined: At your center is something “pure, whole, and complete,” untouched by what happened to you—or what you’ve done. Jeff Kober “We’re meant to live in the question.” “The universe itself is infinitely loving and kind.” “Consciousness can only embody by forgetting its oneness with itself.” “From individuality, we are solely and wholly at the mercy of the ego.” “Can I continue to expand my consciousness enough to contain even these seeming opposite realities?” Jeff Kober’s Website Jeff Kober Instagram Join us on Substack for The Afterlife—bonus clips after the “mic is off” (wink). How to Lean on Spiritual Practice When Nothing Is Okay — What to Do When You Feel Overwhelmed

It’s a Sunday Solo, and Jane Morgan is showing up with a snotty nose, a tender nervous system, and a question a lot of us are carrying right now: what is spiritual practice actually for when nothing feels okay? In this episode of Medium Curious, Jane talks honestly about living in a time when the news is relentless, your heart is tired, and the world feels like it’s teetering. She shares the ways she’s been “resourcing” herself — not to bypass what’s happening, but to stay in her body, steady her nervous system, and find a real corner of calm in the chaos. You’ll hear a simple grounding visualization you can do anywhere (even while driving), a sweet nervous-system reset (hand on heart + belly), an easy breath “hack” (longer exhales), and a practical reminder to build a list of your personal resources — from nature walks and music to trusted friends, art, pets, and you betcha… angels. Jane also shares a meaningful synchronicity around her birthday, a celestite crystal, a necklace with angel wings, and a reminder that when we find steadiness inside ourselves, it ripples outward. Because right now, being calm and centered isn’t just self-care — it’s service. Mentioned in this episode: Angel Speak: How to Talk with Your Angels by Barbara Mark & Trudy Griswold Medium Curious episode with Cheryl (Chuck) Rosenthal on the nervous system  A recent episode of Next Level Soul featuring Yogi Raj + a meditation on radiating peace  Medium Curious episode with Radleigh Valentine on Angels Keywords  spiritual practice when overwhelmed, spiritual practices during difficult times, grounding meditation, calming the nervous system, breathwork for anxiety, rest and digest, meditation for stress, nature as healing, community support, emotional resilience, angels and spiritual support, how to find peace when nothing is okay, mindfulness for hard times Takeaways Spiritual practice isn’t “aspirational” right now — it’s a respite. If your nervous system isn’t calibrated, everything feels harder. Grounding (earth + divine connection) can bring you back to one. Hand on heart + hand on belly is a small gesture with big impact. Longer exhales (5 in / 7 out) can shift you out of fight-or-flight. Make a list of your personal “resources” so you can reach for them fast. Nature, music, art, pets, and trusted friends are real medicine. Calling in angels can be a practical support — and synchronicities happen. Calm isn’t denial — it’s a way to stay in your body and be of service. Your inner peace can ripple outward into your family and community. Sound bites “My spiritual practice has become one of the few safe places — a respite.” “If I haven’t calibrated my nervous system, there’s no hope for me.” “Back to one. What is your one?” “When we come back to rest and digest, we can actually serve.” “Nature is ridiculously magical — it’s such a resource.” “Angels… babes. How to Not Check Out in 2026 — In Service of the Best Possible Outcome!

Happy 2026… but also, do you promise we’re going to be okay? In this heartfelt, funny, and grounding episode, Jane reassures Sarah (and all of us) that we'll make it through the emotional whiplash of living in intense times—without bypassing, numbing, or checking out. And how do we best serve in these times? Sarah and Jane talk about how to hold the dark and the light at the same time, what it looks like to ask Spirit for comfort in real life (and actually receive it), and why the message keeps coming through: there’s no single savior—community is the medicine. Along the way: wildly specific synchronicities (coffee shop → nursery → the exact person you’re meant to see), “five stars” as a spirit sign, the concept of a buffer between feelings and actions, and a surprisingly powerful spiritual practice for 2026: make friends with your feelings, pause when agitated, and don’t add more harm. Your job isn’t to be okay all the time. Your job is to stay in the experience without abandoning yourself. Ask for comfort—out loud. “Universe, I need comfort today” is a real practice, not a cliché. Follow the thread. Intuition often shows up as a nudge toward a place, a person, a podcast, a Zoom call, a book—one next step at a time. Make friends with your feelings. Don’t outrun grief, anger, or fear. Sit with them, let them move, let them tell the truth. Feelings are real. Actions need discernment. The “buffer” is everything—pause, breathe, don’t send the text/email, don’t escalate harm. There’s no one hero coming to fix it. The through-line is collective: community, connection, mutual support. Discernment is a 2026 superpower. Not everything served to you is true. Learn what “yes” feels like in your body—and what “no” feels like too. Stay human. Love doesn’t mean rolling over. Love means refusing to multiply fear with fear. Sarah (20:21): “There’s not going to be any one person that is going to be the answer… it’s going to be everyone coming together as community.” Jane (49:17): “This is the year of authenticity… knowing what’s real and what’s true… you don’t have to defend it or… punch anybody, but you still get to know what’s real.” Michael Newton Journey of Soul’s Join us on Substack for The Afterlife—bonus clips after the “mic is off” (wink). Spiritual FOMO is Real: How to Stop Hustling for Signs & Start Receiving

In this Sunday Solo, Sarah explores a surprisingly common pattern: chasing spiritual highs—those goosebump moments, wild signs, mind-blowing readings, and peak metaphysical experiences—and how that chase can actually pull you out of connection. If you’ve ever received a powerful sign and immediately asked for “one more,” or booked reading after reading hoping to recreate the same wow factor, this episode is your gentle reset. Sarah shares a profound divine-feminine encounter that shifted her relationship with fear, surrender, and self-talk, plus a Stonehenge story that reframes spirituality as creation and integration, not constant fireworks. The through-line: the point isn’t how high you can go in a moment—it’s how you let the moment reshape the way you grieve, love, and live. What You’ll Learn / Key Takeaways Spiritual FOMO is a thing. Wanting “proof” can quickly become bargaining, doubt, and hustling for the next hit of magic. Chasing pulls you out of connection. The more you demand replication, the harder it can be to receive what’s quietly here now. Integration is the upgrade. The real gift of a spiritual high is how it changes your everyday choices, self-talk, and capacity. Surrender is often the doorway. “Turning points” tend to arrive when you soften fear and allow the experience to move through you. Readings can comfort—but they aren’t a cure for grief. Mediumship can offer evidence and love, while grief still needs time, support, and gentleness. Don’t recreate old magic—be available for new magic. Your guides (and life) may be inviting you to build something new, not relive what was. Relish the good the way you “lock in” the bad. Take a snapshot of the beautiful moments—let them soak into your being so you can return to the feeling without chasing repetition. Space creates capacity. Simple practices (meditation, reducing numbing behaviors, slowing the scroll, easing codependent “rescue” habits) can widen the channel. You don’t have to “try” to be spiritual. You’re already spirit—whole, complete—and connection often deepens when you stop striving. “The point isn’t how high we can go in that moment… it’s how we let it reshape the way we live.” “We don’t have to try to be spiritual. Everyone is spiritual by nature. We are spirit.” “Coming online… has to happen at a pace that actually lets us live it—where we can integrate it.” Join us on Substack for The Afterlife—bonus clips after the “mic is off” (wink). Originally released as Episode 12, this conversation explores divine inspiration, creativity, intuition, and co-creation—powerful themes for anyone setting intentions, starting new projects, or opening themselves to what wants to come through next. Jamie Butler on Everyday Mediumship, Trance Channeling & Trusting Your Intuition

HOLIDAY RE-RELEASE 🎁 We’re taking a short holiday pause, but we couldn’t resist bringing back one of our all-time favorite conversations. Originally released in Season Two, this episode features the incredible Jamie Butler who has played a meaningful role in Jane’s mediumship journey — and whose work continues to beautifully normalize intuitive and spiritual abilities. If you’re discovering this conversation for the first time, welcome. And if you’re returning, there’s so much here that’s worth a second (or third) listen. Jane has a full fangirl moment at the top of this episode — and honestly, it’s deserved. In this conversation, Jane and Sarah are joined by Jamie Butler, widely known as The Everyday Medium, but she's so dang extraordinary. Jamie walks us through her path from being a naturally gifted medium as a child to fully embracing her calling as a teacher, which she describes as her true passion. Together, they explore why normalizing mediumship and intuitive abilities is essential — and why trusting your own lived experiences with intuition and spirit matters more than chasing someone else’s definition of “how it should work.” The conversation dives deep into trance channeling, including what it actually is, the different levels of channeling (yes, including incorporation), and why most people have already experienced channeling in everyday life — even if they’ve never called it that. Jamie breaks down how she teaches others to enter a trance state safely, consciously, and with clear boundaries. Jamie and Sarah also connect on the importance of belief systems, self-care, and energetic boundaries — emphasizing that intuition doesn’t require burnout, sacrifice, or pushing past your nervous system’s limits. Grounded, expansive, and reassuring, this episode is an invitation to see mediumship not as something rare or “other,” but as a natural human ability that shows up in everyday moments — if we’re willing to trust it. 🌟 Memorable Quotes “My passion is teaching. Watching people wake up and have their light come online — it’s like no other feeling.” — Jamie Butler “Using your intuitive ability is natural and can be applied in everyday decision-making.” — Jamie Butler “What you believe in is your own truth, and knowledge is your only limit.” — Jamie Butler 🔗 Links & Resources Medium Curious Website: https://www.mediumcurious.com Jane’s Website: https://www.janemorganmedium.com Sarah’s Website: https://www.sarahrathke.com Jamie Butler’s Website: https://www.jamiebutlermedium.com Jamie's classes mentioned in the break: https://jamiebutlermedium.com/classes/ Clair club Winter Edition! Kim Rhodes on Mediumship, Intuition & Why Nothing About It Is Supernatural

🎄 Holiday Re-Release Actor Kim Rhodes (Supernatural, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) joins Medium Curious to talk about intuition, mediumship, psychic experiences, and what it really means to be alive. While the Medium Curious gals take a short holiday pause, we’re thrilled to bring back one of our most beloved conversations from Season One — originally released on March 6, 2024. In this episode, Sarah and Jane sit down with longtime friend, actor, and truth-teller Kim Rhodes for a candid, funny, and deeply grounding conversation about spirituality without the fluff. Kim explores whether mediumship is actually supernatural at all, or simply a natural part of the human experience — and shares wild, heartfelt stories from her own intuitive life along the way. Expect laughter, honesty, and more than a few truth bombs (delivered in classic Kim Rhodes style). The Beliefs Holding You Back (And How to Let Them Go!)

In this final Sunday Solo episode of the year, Jane Morgan reflects on the beliefs we inherit, absorb, and unknowingly allow to run our inner operating systems—long after they’ve stopped serving us. Through a deeply personal story from her own therapeutic and spiritual work, Jane explores how mistaken beliefs can calcify into powerful internal rules that shape our reactions, relationships, intuition, and sense of safety. She shares a profound moment of insight around a core belief she discovered—that being “wrong” meant danger—and how, with support, she was able to release it. This episode is an invitation to slow down during the holiday season, take a compassionate look at the stories guiding your life, and gently ask: Is this belief still true? Rather than offering fixes or formulas, Jane encourages curiosity, softness, and self-trust—especially when listening to intuition feels harder than pleasing others. With reflections on meditation, two-way prayer, intuition, inner child work, and honoring your own “no,” this episode is a warm fireside companion for the darker days leading up to the solstice. As Medium Curious heads into a short winter break, Jane also shares what’s coming in the new year—including exciting guests, a new round of Clair Club, and an upcoming Higher Calling cohort.   ✨ In This Episode, We Explore: How mistaken beliefs form—and why they often feel impossible to remove A personal story of uncovering a deeply embedded belief around being “wrong” Why many beliefs once protected us, even if they now create suffering How moments of emotional upset can point to hidden belief systems The idea of “snapshotting” reactions to gently investigate what’s underneath How meditation, intuition, and spiritual support can reveal stuck stories Using two-way prayer or intuitive writing to access inner guidance Trusting your intuition—even when it disappoints others Why honoring yourself isn’t selfish (and may be long overdue) 🕯️ Reflection Questions for Listeners What belief might be quietly running my life right now? How to Stop People-Pleasing and Start Channeling ~ Platform Mediumship with Lauren Robertson

Lauren Robertson—evidential medium since age 16 and author of The Medium in Manolos—returns to talk about what it really takes to do public demonstrations of mediumship (“platform mediumship”). She shares why confidence is built through exposure, how to reframe anxiety into excitement, and how platform work differs from 1:1 readings (snappier evidence, more communal impact, and clear energy management). Lauren also opens up about skeptics, the role of inner work in becoming a stronger medium, and why ethical compensation matters—especially to prevent burnout and exploitation. The episode closes with Lauren’s core advice: be yourself, because platform mediumship isn’t performance—it’s sacred service. Confidence comes from exposure, not perfection. The fastest way through the fear is repeating the experience until your nervous system learns it’s safe. Reframe nerves as excitement. Anxiety often shows up when you add pressure about how you’ll look or whether you’ll “mess it up.” Platform mediumship is different from 1:1 readings. Public demos need quick, clear, evidential messages that lift the whole room—whether or not everyone gets read. Use “communal evidence,” especially objects. Describing an object someone has in their bag/pocket can create a shared moment of awe for the entire audience. Stop people-pleasing; start energy management. You’re not there to make everyone happy—you’re a channel for Spirit, and the audience is part of the energetic circuit. Call out skeptics with vulnerability. Naming what they might be thinking can disarm defensiveness and lower the emotional temperature in the room. Inner work strengthens mediumship. Healing shame, old beliefs, trauma, and people-pleasing patterns can directly improve courage, clarity, and stamina on the platform. Money + mediumship can be ethical and sacred. Fair compensation helps mediums stay resourced, confident, and less vulnerable to exploitation—while still leaving room to serve for free at times. Mediumship may be a spectrum. Like any skill, people vary in openness, compassion, creativity—and the role mediumship plays can still be meaningful even if someone isn’t meant to demonstrate publicly.   “When we feel anxious or nervous… what we actually really feel is excited.” “The audience… they are a battery, they are an energy source…” “You are not there to please anybody. You are there as a mouthpiece… of the spirit world.” “You should be able to step away from the platform feeling energised…” “Mediumship isn’t a performance, it’s a sacred calling.” Lauren Robertson – Course: Platform Perfection: Listener discount 10% off with code MEDIUM at checkout Join us on Substack for The Afterlife—bonus clips after the “mic is off” (wink). Presence Makes You Psychic (Yes, Really): How to Read Energy 101

In this Sunday solo, Sarah breaks down what “reading subtle energy” actually feels like in real life: soft, fast, surprising, and usually easy to dismiss. She shares how presence (and loosening ego/expectations) strengthens intuition, why most intuitive info doesn’t arrive like a crystal-clear movie or voice memo, and how real-time feedback with a practice partner can change everything. Along the way, she tells powerful stories—like a psychometry exercise that unexpectedly brought through “horse energy,” and a moving reading where a father’s apology, a closet door with white slats, and two dragonflies opened the door to forgiveness, humor, and closure.   Subtle energy is quiet and quick. If you’re waiting for fireworks, you’ll miss the “pops.” Your body is a YES/NO instrument. “Random nope,” “full-body hell yeah,” chills, pressure, emotion shifts—these can be intuitive language. Presence is the gateway to presence. To feel Spirit with you, your awareness has to be in the current moment. Expectation shrinks the channel. When you “need it to be this,” you filter out the bigger message (and Spirit doesn’t obey ceilings). Intuition arrives clean—then the mind narrates. The moment you hesitate, analysis takes over and the signal fades. Practice partners create traction. Feedback + intention = learning faster (and trusting yourself sooner). Evidence can be both tender and funny. A reading can hold shame + forgiveness + dragonflies + a cocktail-party couple saying “just take it.” Guided writing is a real, accessible tool. Calm state + pen moving = a channel for gentle, guiding language.   “Expectation kills openness.”   “For most of my life… I had no idea what reading energy meant. I thought that energy was what I was billed for monthly to keep my electricity running.”   Lauren Robertson's Class "Platform Perfection" - 10% off for listeners with code MEDIUM at checkout. Signs From Pets in Spirit: Love Notes From across the Rainbow Bridge

In this deeply personal Sunday solo, Jane shares the story of her beloved Domino’s sudden passing — and the extraordinary signs he sent from the other side. For long-time listeners, Domino has always been “one of the dogs under the desk,” a constant companion in the Medium Curious studio. This week, Jane opens up about his transition, the stunning validations that came through a trusted animal communicator, and the powerful reminders our pets offer us about love, grief, and what happens when they leave their bodies. Jane shares: How her journey with animal communication began The wild, specific evidence that first proved to her that pets absolutely communicate What Domino expressed about his transition in real time The moment she asked him, “What will your sign be?” How rainbows, and “Kiko” — showed up instantly Incredible synchronicities involving Guatemala, where Domino was born How her other dog, Kalea, responded (and what she said telepathically!) Flow State & Mediumship: How Getting “In the Zone” Opens the Door to Spirit

What if the “zone” that athletes and musicians talk about is the same state that lets mediums connect with Spirit? In this solo episode, Sarah dives into flow state—that feeling of being locked in, tuned up, and fully present—and explores how it opens the door to intuition, higher consciousness, and mediumship. Drawing on her background as a professional musician, Sarah breaks down what flow feels like in the body, why it seems to bend time, and how that sweet spot of focus + ease raises your vibration enough to hear, sense, and feel Spirit more clearly. In this episode, Sarah unpacks: What “flow state” actually is (beyond the buzzword) How being in the zone helps you tune into your intuition and Spirit Why overthinking kicks you out of flow—and what to do instead Simple practices to slip into flow more often in everyday life How to use creativity, play, and presence as a bridge to the other side If you’ve ever felt “on a roll” creatively, lost track of time doing something you love, or wondered how to quiet your mind enough to connect with Spirit, this episode is your invitation to start treating flow as a doorway—not just a nice feeling. ✨ You don’t have to force your connection with Spirit. You just have to find your way into the zone. “You have to believe that it’s possible to connect to the other side. You have to believe that you’re feeling energy, that you’re sensing energy.” “We are not meant to be in flow all the time, because then our flow doesn’t change and it doesn’t evolve.” “Notice when you’re in flow. I guarantee it has something to do with being in the present moment and appreciating how good you are at doing what brings you joy.”  Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s seven conditions for flow Drexel University study on creative flow, Lauren Robertson's Class "Platform Perfection" - 10% off for listeners with code MEDIUM at checkout. From Soap Star to Death Doula: Kale Browne on Mediumship, Remote Viewing & Life After Death

Actor Kale Browne has lived many lives in one: beloved soap star on Another World, One Life to Live, and Days of Our Lives; voice actor; long-time meditator; 40+ years sober; and now a death doula who quietly walks people and families through the threshold. In this episode of Medium Curious, Sarah and Jane talk with Kale about the intuitive thread that’s run through his whole life—from “Kale moments” as a kid (just knowing things) to powerful past-life flashes in places like Tulum, to training in remote viewing at the Stanford Research Institute with Russell Targ, and mediumship intensives with James Van Praagh, Kripalu, and Omega. Kale shares how sobriety ripped him “wide open,” what it’s like to feel the “psychic weather” around a reading, and why he’s more interested in service than in putting out a mediumship shingle. He breaks down remote viewing in plain language, talks about Edgar Cayce, telepathy, and the “informational layer” of consciousness, and explains why he believes “life has no opposite.” This conversation is funny, grounded, and deeply tender—especially when Spirit crashes the party with a perfectly timed Camel cigarette reference from Jane’s dad. If you’ve ever wondered whether your own strange experiences “count,” Kale’s stories will help you feel less alone and a lot more normal.   Intuition has been there all along. Kale grew up with “Kale moments”—downloads, knowings, and sensations that other people didn’t seem to have. For him, mediumship isn’t a new gift; it’s language for what was already happening. Sobriety can blow the doors open. When he got sober in New York, Kale felt “ripped wide open”—knowing who was calling, which subway was coming, and what someone would say next. Alcohol used to dull the signals; removing it amplified them. Remote viewing is real (and trainable). At Omega, Kale studied with Russell Targ and Stephen Schwartz, learning protocols used in U.S. “psychic spy” programs. Remote viewing isn’t about guessing “what’s in the bag,” it’s about describing qualities, sensations, and impressions without letting the mind fill in the blanks. There’s an informational layer in consciousness. Drawing on quantum physics, telepathy research, and Edgar Cayce, Kale describes a non-local “information layer”—a vibrational wavelength we can tune into, like a radio station. Life has no opposite. In his work as a death doula, Kale sees death as a change in density, not an ending: the body slows down, the rest of us speeds up. His job is as much about supporting the living—families and loved ones—as it is about honoring the one who’s crossing. Psychic weather is real. Readings aren’t just about the medium—there are energetic conditions, emotional states, and external “weather” that affect clarity and accuracy. Words are reductive; experience is bigger. Like trying to describe a dream, putting mystical experiences into language shrinks them. That’s why so many intuitives and experiencers feel misunderstood—or dismissed—when they finally share. We’re here to normalize the weird. Kale, Sarah, and Jane all care about making mediumship, telepathy, and past-life flashes feel human and accessible, not fringe or freaky. The more we talk about it, the less alone people feel. “Sometimes the hardest thing to explain is how you see something without seeing it.” – Kale “Life has no opposite. Life continues. The body slows down, the rest of us speeds up.” – Kale “Words have a very reductive quality… as soon as you start to verbalize a dream, it starts to fade.” – Kale “You can’t explain to a three-dimensional mind what a fourth-dimensional experience is like.” – Kale (on Edgar Cayce) “We see through the filter that we expect.” – Kale “Intuition is going to get broader. The veil between this side and the other side is getting thinner, I think.” – Kale   Lauren Robertson's Class "Platform Perfection" - 10% off for listeners Join us on Substack for The Afterlife—bonus clips after the “mic is off” (wink). Invitations from the Land ~ Mediumship, Nature Spirits & Sacred Sound with Zaneta

In this enchanted, electric episode 65 of Medium Curious, Sarah and Jane sit down with Zaneta Sykes—interdisciplinary sound artist, spirit medium, and creator of Art Witch and Invitations from the Land—for a journey into what it really means to be in relationship with the living world. Zaneta shares how bullying pushed them away from drums and into science… until a clear, external voice at a jam session said, “Go to music school.” That single piece of guidance rerouted everything—ultimately weaving together percussion, environmental science, psychic work, and spirit mediumship into one luminous, decolonial, more-than-human path. They walk us through encounters that feel like myth but land like proof: a dream of a giant white fox, a real-life meeting with an Eastern coyote, barred owls arriving on cue, an aunt in spirit validated by banana pudding and horn-rimmed glasses, and a land conservancy “randomly” inviting Zaneta to create a full forest soundscape project. Along the way, they unpack mediumship as relationship, witch as wise listener, and why the Earth herself is calling more of us to become bridges. This conversation is wild, grounded, funny, reverent, glitchy (hi, energy surge), and full-body-truth level inspiring. Key Takeaways Mediumship is relationship, not performance. It’s an ongoing, two-way conversation with ancestors, spirits of place, animals, elements, and the unseen. The Earth is calling mediums. Zaneta shares guidance from the woods: mediumship is how we remember ourselves as nature and undo the illusion of separation. Signs are specific, not vague. Banana pudding, iconic glasses, perfectly-timed owls—clear, weird details help us trust what comes through. Your path can be multimodal. Music, science, magic, ancestry, and activism don’t have to compete; they braid into a single, truthful life. Reverence is a practice. Singing to forests, rivers, and beings of place is less aesthetics, more consent, respect, and genuine reciprocity. Not every spirit (or human) gets access. Discernment matters. You don’t have to call in everyone, every time. Slow is holy. Returning to the same land again and again—listening instead of extracting—is medicine in a culture obsessed with speed and productivity. “Witch” is reclamation. For Zaneta, it honors persecuted healers, matriarchs, and wisdom keepers, and names power as interconnectedness, not domination. Mediumship expands capacity. As Sarah offers, connecting with Spirit stretches what we can hold—and gives others permission to expand too. “Mediumship is not a trick. It’s a relationship.” “The Earth is calling people to be mediums—so we remember we are nature, not separate from it.” “Not every being wants to be called in. Consent exists in the spirit world, too.” “Witch, to me, is someone willing to address the suffering of the world with sacred, grounded care.” “Power isn’t something we own. It’s something that moves through all of us when we’re listening.” Music courtesy of Chris Dingman Sound art courtesy of Zaneta: Sound Art Magic Art Witch Podcast Sound Art Magic Instagram Join us on Substack for The Afterlife—bonus clips after the “mic is off” (wink). Experiences Over Experts ~ You Don’t Need Permission to Believe Your Own Magic

If you’ve ever wondered, “Is this real—or am I making it up?” this episode hands the mic back to you. In this Sunday Solo, Sarah gets real about the moment everything shifted: realizing she didn’t need science, church, or anyone else’s approval to trust the magic happening in her own life. She shares how launching Medium Curious cracked her wide open, why stories from “normal” people carry as much weight as any lab study, and how your most intimate spiritual experiences—signs, dreams, channeling, synchronicities—are not random. They’re your language with Spirit. From being rocked open at  Bobby McFerrin’s Circlesongs in Berkeley, to octopus signs from a little boy in spirit, to a powerful guided writing message that clearly did not come from her everyday voice, Sarah invites you to stop waiting for outside validation and start honoring what you already feel. This is your permission-slip to explore, play, listen deeper, and trust that your experience counts. Your experiences are evidence. You don’t need a PhD or a pulpit to validate your spiritual life; your direct encounters count. Stories shift shame. Hearing other people’s mediumship, NDE, and sign stories normalizes sensitivity and dissolves the “I’m crazy” narrative. Mystery is sacred. The unknown isn’t a problem to solve; it’s a holy space to inhabit, explore, and enjoy. No one has the final word. Anyone claiming to know exactly how the other side works? Red flag. This path is personal, evolving, and multi-layered. Signs are love notes. Repeating symbols (like Sarah’s octopus kiddo) can be an ongoing conversation between worlds—especially comforting in grief. Guided writing is a portal. Simple channeled writing practices can open surprising wisdom that feels beyond your everyday mind. You’re allowed to explore. You don’t need permission—from religion, science, family, or partners—to follow what feels true, kind, and expansive to your spirit. “You don’t need an expert to tell you your own experiences are real.” “The mystery is sacred. If we try to nail it down, we miss the magic.” “When a holy man hears voices, he’s a prophet. When a woman does, she’s a witch. Let’s talk about that.” “Nobody knows for sure how any of this works—and that’s the beauty of it.” “Try guided writing, close the notebook, and read it the next day. Your Team of Light: Practical Ways to Trust Guidance, Ask for Signs, and Receive

“Your team of light is 24/7. Invitation is the on-switch.” In this playful, grounded convo, Jane and Sarah explore how intuition and spirit guides actually work in real life—no pedestal, no gatekeeping. From discerning inner noise vs. guidance, to creating a “secret garden” meeting place, to asking for divine and sacred support, they share stories, exercises, and synchronicities (hello, 444) that make guidance feel natural. You’ll hear about shamanic journeying, channeled writing, two-way prayer, and why names aren’t the point—relationship is. Expect joy, evidence, and practical steps to build trust with your team of light.   Major takeaways Guidance ≈ intuition amplified: your guides often speak through your intuitive channel. Discernment matters: notice the difference between old mental “tapes,” fear, and the clear, kind, neutral tone of guidance. Names aren’t required: labels help humans, but the relationship + resonance are what count. Ask for divine and sacred support: specificity raises signal quality; you can even verify by asking, “Are you divine and sacred?” Free will is real: guides rarely intervene unless invited—ask for help clearly and often. Build a meeting place: Jane’s “secret garden/spring” visualization (or your version) creates a stable portal for guidance. Practice = proof: little exercises (who’s calling? how many will show up?) strengthen trust before the big moments. Presence is a superpower: gratitude + body awareness tune your antenna to signs and synchronicities. Loved ones can be “guardians”: beautiful support, and when doing healing/skill work, call in the specialists. Try two-way prayer & channeled writing: ask a question (“Dear Love, what would you have me know today?”) then receive.   “Guidance is often the same voice as intuition—just clearer and kinder.” “Ask for divine and sacred help, and then ask, ‘Are you divine and sacred?’ Truth can’t lie.” “I don’t need a guide’s name to feel the guidance—the relationship is the point.” “Free will means they won’t drive your bus unless you hand them the keys.” “Presence is the portal. Love for the dead! Reflections on Nov 1st; Dia de los Muertos

In this first solo episode experiment - Jane Morgan of Medium Curious explores her relationship to the Day of the Dead, the significance of Dia de los Muertos, (even if she can’t properly pronounce it)  and offers some ways to relate to this day in this pretty darn challenging time.  She discusses the importance of inviting the presence of those who have passed, and how this practice can bring comfort and connection. Jane also shares thoughts from Perdita Finn's Substack emphasizing that every day can be a day to celebrate the dead. The episode concludes with a fun giveaway announcement and a call to listeners to engage with the podcast community. Takeaways: Dia de los Muertos invites us to celebrate and connect with our ancestors. Every day can be a day to honor the dead, not just November 1st and 2nd. Creating altars with personal items can invite loved ones' presence. Perdita Finn emphasizes devotion to the dead in her writings. Mediumship is a journey of discovering one's connection to the other side. The dead offer perspective, clarity, and love to the living. We are deeply loved by our ancestors, who send us signs and support. The Day of the Dead reminds us to see and accept synchronicities. Perdita Finn's new book explores themes of magic and divine connection. Listeners are encouraged to participate in a podcast giveaway. Sound bites: "Every day is the day of the dead." How to Practice Energy Hygiene Daily (So You Don’t Absorb Everyone Else’s Stuff) with Catherine Mulligan

“I speak ‘corporate’ and ‘angel’—KPIs by day, Archangel Michael on speed dial.”   Catherine Mulligan—corporate executive by day, intuitive by design—joins Jane and Sarah to talk angels, guides, and the very practical side of “woo.” From a childhood rescue by her guardian angel to supporting colleagues through illness, Catherine shows how Spirit fits inside a KPI-driven life (and how boundaries make the magic sustainable). We meet Maggie, the delight-powered “joy guide,” learn the Champagne Tower of Light visualization, and unpack energy hygiene that’s as routine as brushing your teeth. Catherine shares the origin story of her weekly Rosary Club (open to all traditions), why doubt is a precipice on the way to God (thanks, Rumi), and how to keep your field clear, your service high, and your ego humble. If you’ve ever wondered how to trust your guidance, set better spiritual “hygiene,” or pray for real-world results—this one’s your lighthouse.   Intuition scales everywhere. Spirit fits beautifully inside a KPI world when you set intention, boundaries, and personal responsibility. Medium vs. Intuitive. Catherine works a wider “radio dial”—angels, guides, and loved ones—especially for life crossroads and clearing. Trust is a muscle. Doubt isn’t failure; it’s training. (“Doubt is a precipice on the way to God.”) Energy hygiene = daily habit. Ground, clear, protect—like brushing teeth. Golden hula-hoop, violet flame, and “disco-ball bubble” all help. Champagne Tower of Light. Invite Source light into every cell, overflow, and clear what’s not for the highest good—30 seconds to 30 minutes. Boundaries are love. Compassion ≠ carrying. Don’t take on what isn’t yours; say yes only to highest-good work. Pray like a human, receive like a saint. Rosary Club is open to all (not just Catholics); nothing is too big or too small to bring. Ask for signs. Songs, buses with wolves, license plates—clear, specific, playful confirmations arrive when you ask. Keep the vibe high. Gratitude and intention stabilize your field so low-grade energy can’t “hook” in public or at work. DPS: Divine Positioning System. Everything can point you back to God/Love; discernment keeps you out of spiritual “war” and in spiritual skill.   “Doubt is not a detour; it’s the precipice that leads you closer.” “Energy hygiene is non-negotiable. You wouldn’t skip brushing your teeth; don’t skip clearing your field.” “Compassion doesn’t mean carrying. Boundaries are holy.” “God is either everything or nothing—so let every moment point you back to love.” “Ask for a sign. Spirit loves a clear brief.”   Catherine’s Rosary Club Instagram Druid Rising Catherine Mulligan Way of the Rose by Clark Strand & Perdita Finn Medium Curious Website: MediumCurious Jane’s Website: Jane Morgan Medium  Sarah’s Website: Sarah Rathke Podcast Instagram: @MediumCuriousPod YouTube: @mediumcurious VerySoul.com 💜 Support Medium Curious If you love this conversation, please download the episode, subscribe, and leave us a review—your support helps keep the magic flowing.

Practical Magic ~ Tuning your Frequency One Rung at a Time

Just Sarah and Jane today—two “small mediums at large”—jamming on what they call the frequency of love: how to attune to it, why it’s a reliable “operator line” to Spirit, and what it looks like in ordinary life (yes, even at Costco 😄). They unpack Abraham-Hicks’ emotional scale as a compassionate ladder, swap stories about grief, breathwork, and art that cracks the heart open (hello, Water Lilies), and share a vivid image of the “eye of the hurricane” as the eternal present. Expect grounded tools—box breathing, somatic check-ins, “WWLD” moments—plus reflections on creativity, protest, prayer, receiving love, and why being in a body is both the veil and the gift. Finally, these two look at nuance over extremes. We all need to learn how to hold paradox: allow holy anger without abandoning love as the power source. Love is a frequency you can tune to. Treat it like a channel on the dial; it’s the place Sarah and Jane meet Spirit. You don’t have to leap from fear to bliss. Abraham-Hicks’ 22-step emotional scale is a ladder—move one rung at a time with compassion. Presence = peace. Visualize the eye of the hurricane: step into the calm center (the eternal present) when the world spins. The body is the veil—and the doorway. Somatic awareness (jaw, shoulders, breath) helps you return to safety and openness. Breath changes state fast. Try box breathing (4-4-4-4) or 5-7 exhales to cue the nervous system back to calm. Art & music unlock emotion. Let beauty move what words can’t—Brahms, Mahler, or a single Monet can crack you open. WWLD: What Would Love Do (next)? Micro-choices shift rooms, checkout lines, and conversations—beam love and notice who smiles back. Receiving is a practice. Worthiness opens the door; synchronicities are love notes that train you to accept more. Prayer & meditation matter. Intentioned group focus (“love festivals”) can soften the edges of collective pain. We’re not clinicians. Artists with tools, not prescriptions—take what resonates, leave the rest. Community carries. When one of us wobbles, circles of care (friends, guides, art) help us find center again.   “Love is a frequency. It’s our operator line to Spirit.” “You don’t have to jump from discouragement to bliss—just climb one rung.” “The body is the veil—and also the doorway back to oneness.” “Receiving love starts with worthiness—synchronicity is the training ground.” Abraham-Hicks, Ask and It Is Given (the 22-step emotional scale) Wayne Dyer clips/teachings (on allowing and becoming) Breath practices: box breathing (4-4-4-4), extended exhale (inhale 5, exhale 7) Join us on Substack for The Afterlife—bonus clips after the “mic is off” (wink). Telepathic Animal Communicator Nikki Vasconez: From Lawyer to Pet Communication Teacher!

“There are no barriers to telepathy—living or in spirit. Only the limits we place on reality.” —Nikki Nikki Vasconez shares how a single session with her anxious pup “Havoc” (now Merlin) cracked open her intuitive gifts—and launched a thriving animal communication and teaching practice. Jane and Sarah have so much fun getting the scoop on animal attitude in this episode! Nikki explains why names matter, how animals are keen observers with strong opinions, and why the nervous system is the real gateway to clearer telepathy. She offers unforgettable stories: a cat whose mystery illness was a hidden tooth abscess, a dog whose “job” solved separation anxiety, and pets in spirit who still make their presence known (hello, butt-cheek poke). We also talk about phone addiction, present-moment living, and why anyone can learn to communicate—if they slow down, listen, and drop expectations.   You don’t need to be “born gifted.” Telepathy is innate and trainable with practice and nervous-system regulation. Names carry energy. Renaming “Havoc” to Merlin transformed his anxiety and demeanor. Animals notice everything. They’re aware, opinionated, and often just need to be understood, not “fixed.” Ask “why,” not “stop.” Understanding the reason behind a behavior (e.g., needing a job) can resolve issues like separation anxiety. Health hits can be specific. Animals may point to precise issues (e.g., a single infected tooth) that vets can confirm. Spirit communication continues. Pets in spirit often send tactile or environmental signs—and feel as clear as living animals. Humans add static. Constantly retelling a rescue’s trauma can keep them (and us) stuck; emphasize the present moment. Self-care = clearer channel. Less phone time, more calm, and simple rituals improve reception and trust.   “I don’t know anything, and anything is possible.” — Nikki “Animals are so aware—and with awareness comes opinions!” — Nikki “There are no barriers to telepathy—living or in spirit. Downloading the Muse: Writer Mary Beth Pemberton on Channeling History

Episode 58! Writer and playwright Mary Beth Pemberton joins Sarah and Jane to talk about creating from the realm of possibility—where intuition, signs, and Spirit guide the work. Mary Beth shares how she “downloads” scenes, knows when she’s in flow (vs. grinding), and why discipline, sleep, music, and environment (hello, Ireland) keep her channel clear.    She opens up about channeling historical figures for her play, the responsibility of telling their stories, and the sacred bridge between creativity and mediumship. Plus: behind-the-scenes of her animal-communication TV concept, and a riveting near-death experience that sharpened her inner knowing: “Do you want to stay or go?” This one is a masterclass in trusting signs, protecting your creative process, and saying yes to your calling   Key Takeaways   Flow > Force: If it’s grinding, pause. Flow writes in minutes what force can’t in hours. Prime the channel: Rituals (music, movement, sleep, nature) lift your frequency and open the door to guidance. Trust the signs: Ask, notice, confirm. Synchronicity is a conversation—celebrate it to see more. Voice stewardship: When channeling, your job is to honor the story the way Spirit wants it told. Environment matters: Create a container where your attention is protected and your energy stays high. After the edge, clarity: Near-death moments can catalyze unshakeable purpose. “Ritual primes the channel: music, movement, sleep, nature.” Medium Curious Website: MediumCurious Jane’s Website: Jane Morgan Medium  Sarah’s Website: Sarah Rathke Podcast Instagram: @MediumCuriousPod YouTube: @mediumcurious VerySoul.com 💜 Support Medium Curious If you love this conversation, please download the episode, subscribe, and leave us a review—your support helps keep the magic flowing.

What if there isn’t an after life at all—only life?  Hollister Rand (evidential medium and author of Everything You Wanted to Know About the Afterlife (But Were Afraid to Ask) and I’m Not Dead, I’m Different) join Sarah & Jane to talk about afterlife, frequency, humor, and healing -– from the music of the spheres to why connection is protection. Hollister shares extraordinary stories—pets who guide readings, loved ones who evolve in spirit, and the idea that “there is no afterlife… there is only life.” Funny, sweet and also deeply practical for anyone navigating grief or growing their gifts. You’ll hear jaw-dropping mini-readings, sweet pet cameos, and a perspective-shifting line you’ll never forget: “There is no afterlife. There is only life.” If you’ve wondered about signs, synchronicities, grief, protection, and how to raise your frequency, this episode is for you. Portals, Synchronicity, and the Art of Becoming with Marisa White*

What happens when art becomes a portal—and Spirit finds ways to break through? In this sparkly conversation, visual artist Marisa White joins Jane and Sarah to share how her surreal photo montages blur the line between real and imagined, inviting us to “make the magical feel probable.” Marisa recounts how her neighbor Julie opened her spiritual world—and how, after Julie’s passing, she made her presence known through scents, light, and laughter. From coffee beans and sage to essential oils, Marisa shares extraordinary stories of “Smell-o-Vision” visitations that affirmed Spirit’s nearness. We chat about: Art as conduit: flow, discipline, and allowing something greater to move through you Synchronicity at the Park City art festival and the connections that followed The piece Becoming and the Merkaba symbol that “insisted” on staying Embodying the higher self—right here, right now Small-and-mighty grandmothers, Monarch butterflies, and honoring ancestors through art The love story of “Dr. Awesome” and how trust + partnership fuel creativity Why following nudges (instead of starving-artist myths) opens unexpected doors Through laughter, chills, and a few tears, this episode reminds us that art isn’t just something we make—it’s something that makes us, too.   Quotes “Make the magical feel probable.” —Marisa “Sometimes the art tells me what it means after it’s done.” —Marisa “Art isn’t coming from us—it’s moving through us.” —Marisa   ✨ Takeaways Flow often comes after you start creating, not before. Spirit communicates through the senses—smells, light, synchronicities. Trust your nudges: art, love, and life expand when you follow them. Embodying your highest self is the real masterpiece.
