Lane County Administrator Steve Mokrohisky announces upcoming changes in county leadership. 

Jacob Fox, Homes for Good’s executive director, joined Steve this month to talk about the partnership between our two agencies and our next project: The Coleman. Homes for Good develops and operates hundreds of units of low-income housing across Lane County. Over the past decade, Lane County and Homes for Good have partnered on a number of those developments to help increase the supply of low-income, permanent supportive, and re-entry housing - often on property originally owned by Lane County. The Coleman is next in the queue and will be located on the Parole & Probation campus at Highway 99 and Roosevelt. ·       Learn more about Homes for Good’s work in our community.·       See information about The Coleman, which should break ground this fall. 

Steve sat down with Dr. Pat Luedtke, our county health officer last week, as a follow up to his June 9 email about measles.Dr. Luedtke and Steve spoke about the risk of measles generally and the concern should we begin seeing cases locally. They also covered the measles vaccine and how to find your vaccination records if you believe you were vaccinated as a child but no longer have those records at hand to confirm. ·       Oregon’s ALERT immunization record program·       Contacts for other state immunization record programs

Budget & Financial Planning Manager Christine Moody returned to give an update on the budget process and Senior Operations Analyst Jeff Kincaid joined me to talk about the work of the Financial Exploration Team. The Fiscal Year 2026–2027 budget was approved by the Budget Committee on May 20 and is currently awaiting final adoption by the Board of County Commissioners on June 23. On June 9, the Board held a public hearing on the approved budget and began deliberations. The Board is expected to finish deliberating on any possible adjustments and adopt the budget next Tuesday. Waste Management Division Manager Jeff Orlandini joined Steve this month to talk about challenges we are facing in our solid waste management system.Lane County operates one of best-managed landfills in Oregon, offers more rural transfer sites than any other county in the state, and benefits from an award-winning recycling program. That system is in danger because a Texas company that owns Sanipac, Ecosort and County Transfer & Recycling is taking the waste it collects from Lane County and trucking it hundreds of miles away.

This month, Steve sat down with Lane County's Budget & Financial Planning Manager Christine Moody to talk about where we are in the budget process and the high-level overview of how it’s going so far. As a reminder, you can access materials as they become available at www.LaneCountyOR.gov/budget.

This month, Assistant County Administrator Greg Rikhoff and I had a chance to talk about some of the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead in 2026.
