What Control Is Really Costing You with Dr. Laura Le
Dr. Laura Le returns to name the real cost of control — and what it takes for a mom to open her hands and finally find peace. Most of us don't call it control. 💥 We call it being responsible. 💥 Being prepared. 💥 Being a good mom. But underneath all that gripping is a kind of exhaustion that doesn't show up on a to-do list — the tiring, invisible work of trying to hold outcomes that were never ours to hold. In this conversation, Dr. Laura Le joins me again — this time with a different lens on a topic we've touched on before. Dr. Laura is a chiropractor with over twenty-three years of experience in prenatal and pediatric care, the author of Postpartum Reimagined, and the host of her own podcast, You Are the Mom. She recently walked her own daughter through the college send-off, which became the seed for her book Words From Home for the College Bound Teen — and it's exactly the kind of letting-go season we dig into here. We talk about 📌 what control actually costs a mom physically and spiritually, 📌 why surrender isn't the same thing as giving up, and 📌 what it looks like to open your hands toward the God who was never asking you to carry this alone. If you've ever wrestled with mom guilt over not doing enough, you'll recognize its quieter cousin here — the anxious grip of trying to control everything so nothing goes wrong. This is a tender, healing conversation for any Christian mom who became tired of white-knuckling her way through motherhood and ready for real, sustainable peace. The Phrase That Changes Every Hard Conversation
This episode kicks off week two of the Best-Of Re-Release Series with something a little different — a remix. Misty sat down with communication and executive-presence coach Laura Camacho in two separate conversations, and this episode pulls the very best moments from both into one. Laura has spent twenty years coaching senior leaders to communicate under pressure, and in this remix she brings those same tools home — literally. She and Misty talk about 🗯️💭 the single phrase that reframes almost any hard conversation ("what I understand you're saying is..."), 🗯️💭 why assuming positive intent changes the whole tone of a disagreement, 🗯️💭 and how sincerely building people up — noticing what's easy to overlook — makes people more receptive to everything else you have to say. They also dig into what it looks like to be proactive instead of reactive as a mom: weekly family meetings, clear expectations, chores with real consequences, and raising kids who grow into contributors, not just people who are told what to do. 📖 Laura shares her favorite "mean mom" story — knocking on her daughters' doors at 5am to ask who left a glass in the sink — and what it taught her girls about consequences without anger. Toward the end, Misty asks Laura the question she asks every seasoned mom: if you could leave your daughters with one piece of wisdom, what would it be? Laura's answer is a tender, honest word about grace in marriage — appreciating the good in your husband, and spending less time cataloging the opportunities for improvement. Talking It Out About Communication With Craig Hughes
Misty and her husband Craig get honest about how they communicate differently — and the daily choice to assume the best instead of the worst. 🎙️Misty's husband Craig is back at the mic — and this time, he's not just a guest. He's the launch point for something new: over the next several weeks, Misty is re-releasing some of the most-loved conversations from Mom2Mom Mentoring, and this honest, unscripted talk about communication is where it all begins. Craig and Misty get real about the small stuff that becomes big stuff: 💡 a light left on downstairs, 💡 an assumption made out of exhaustion, 💡 and the slow work of catching yourself before the story in your head becomes the story you believe. Misty even shares the (very relatable, slightly embarrassing) bidet story: a desire she sat on for months because she'd already decided, in her own mind, what Craig would say. They dig into the real difference between a verbal processor and an internal processor — what it feels like on both sides, why interrupting isn't always about disrespect, and how Craig went from "performance listening" to actually listening to 💖 Misty's heart, not just her words. Craig and Misty want to be honest with you: they're not counselors, and after six years of marriage, they're still learning what real connection looks like — for themselves and for each other. That's exactly why this conversation matters, no matter how long you've been married. There's always room to grow in the way you communicate — and always room to shine a little brighter in how you love the people closest to you. When Loving Someone Is Hard With Katina Wilkins
What does it actually look like to love a difficult person? Katina Wilkins shares a biblical framework that will change the way you see the hard relationships in your life. Is there someone in your life right now who is hard to love? A child who pushes every button. A parent who never seems satisfied. A marriage that has grown painfully complicated. If you've ever wondered how you're supposed to keep loving when it's this hard — this conversation is for you. Katina Wilkins is a Christian life coach, Bible teacher, and speaker who has spent over 20 years helping women navigate the hardest relationships of their lives. But her message didn't start in a classroom — it started at 3:00 AM in a prayer room, with a journal labeled "Battle Plans," asking God the same question many of us have asked: Lord, how do I do this? In this episode, Katina walks us through 1 Corinthians 13 not as a familiar passage we've heard a hundred times, but as a lived framework for the relationships that are testing us most. She breaks down what love actually is, what it isn't — and what it always does. And she offers a reframe on boundaries that may change the way you see every hard relationship in your life: a boundary is not about self-protection. It's about loving the other person too much to let them continue to sin. This conversation also opens with a direct word for any woman in an abusive relationship — because loving someone and staying somewhere unsafe are not the same thing. If that's you, please listen to the first few minutes before anything else. You'll walk away from this episode with a clearer picture of what God-shaped love actually looks like — and the quiet confidence that you don't have to manufacture it on your own. 📖 WHAT WE COVER • Why loving difficult people starts with honesty — not effort • What 1 Corinthians 13 looks like as a daily practice, not a feeling • How kindness and boundaries work together (and why kindness is not a doormat) • The reframe that changes everything: boundaries are an act of love • What it means to love from God's fullness instead of your own empty cup • The one thing Katina wants every mom to carry into her week 📚 RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE Love Is...Complicated: A Bible Study Handbook on Learning to Love Difficult People Well by Katina Wilkins https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F1DKFX2J Morning by Morning Life Coaching — Katina's website https://mbmlifecoaching.com Episode 108 — The Word Moms Need to Stop Saying (with Mary Gallagher) [Link to Ep. 108] ✨ CONNECT WITH MISTY 🌐 Website: https://mistyhughes.com 👥 Facebook Community — Christian Moms in Business & Ministry: https://www.facebook.com/groups/christianmomsinbusinessandministry 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_mistyhughes 🌱 BECOMING Cohort: https://mistyhughes.com/cohort ✨ Free Resource — Rhythms of Renewal Mini-Guide: https://mistyhughes.com/resources 🛖 Come to the Table Retreat: https://mistyhughes.com/cometothetable ✉️ Contact Misty: https://mistyhughes.com/inquire 📞 Book a Call with Misty: https://calendly.com/mistyhughes/call-with-misty

The Word Moms Need To Quit Saying
What if "should" is the word keeping you from the life God actually has for you? Mary Gallagher helps moms trade striving for open-handed faith. What's the most dangerous word in a Christian mom's vocabulary? It might not be what you think. In Episode 108 of Mom2Mom Mentoring, Misty sits down with writer and spiritual guide Mary Gallagher — founder of the Promised Land Mindset — for one of the most honest conversations this podcast has ever had about perfectionism, shame, and what it really means to parent from faith instead of fear. Mary spent years living by the "should" list: what a good Christian wife should do, what a good mom shouldn't be, what a good woman of faith should look like. But after a pastor literally told her to "fit the mold," her perfectionism went into overdrive — and she didn't find her way out until she discovered that the striving was rooted in something deeper: shame. In this conversation, Mary shares the moment God gave her a clear choice between faith and fear when her teenage son went down a hard road — and what happened when she chose faith. She opens up about the shooting star story that changed the way she looks at imperfection. And she introduces the simple, powerful practice of releasing the "shoulds" that are quietly keeping you from your promised land. Here's what you'll take away from this episode: • Why perfectionism isn't about high standards — it's about shame • What it looks like to parent with open hands instead of a white-knuckled grip • How to identify the "shoulds" in your life and find the biblical truth that replaces them • What your promised land might look like — and why it's probably more about purpose than you think 🔗️ Resources Mentioned In The Episode Grab Mary's free guide on shedding the "should" at promisedlandmindset.com/shouldleadmagnet Download Misty's free Rhythms of Renewal Mini-Guide at mistyhughes.myflodesk.com/discoverrhythms Ready to go deeper? Sex Shame And God's Design with Mary Whitman Ortiz
Christian sex educator Mary Whitman Ortiz joins Misty to talk about shame, God’s design for intimacy, and the freedom waiting on the other side. There are conversations the church has been slow to have — and sexual intimacy is one of them. In this episode, I sit down with Mary Whitman Ortiz, a Christian sex educator and certified relationship coach, to talk about what God actually intended when he designed intimacy between husband and wife. This is a conversation about shame, freedom, and what it looks like to come alive in places that have been quiet for a long time. Mary shares her own story — a 26-year marriage that ended in divorce, the discovery of pornography’s long shadow, and the slow, intentional journey back to wholeness. She walks through what emotional safety in marriage really means, why women need to give their “mental yes” long before 10:30 at night, and how studying the original (God’s design) is always more powerful than focusing on the counterfeit. Whether you grew up in purity culture, have never had a safe conversation about this, or just sense there is more joy available in your marriage than you’ve been living in — this episode was made for you. Mary’s freedom is contagious. Managing Money God's Way with Foluke Olayele
Financial coach Foluke Olayele reveals what managing money God's way actually looks like — and why it has everything to do with trust, not just budgets. 💸 Most of us never had a real conversation about money. We inherited fear, silence, or survival mode — and somewhere along the way, we decided God was too holy for our bank account. Financial coach, author, and founder of Hand In Hand Consulting Foluke Olayele is here to tell you that's exactly backwards. In this conversation, Foluke shares how a divorce, a digital book, and a Valentine's Day download from God put her on a path from debt to a paid-off home, a thriving career — and eventually, a calling to help women steward money God's way. Her story is part miracle, part obedience, and completely relevant to the woman who has ever felt like her finances were too far gone, too complicated, or too embarrassing to bring to the Lord. Misty and Foluke explore what it actually means to manage money with God as your provider — not just as a nice idea, but as a daily, practical reality for both single women and married ones. 🎯 They unpack the biblical distinction between debt and bondage, 🎯 The Parable of the Talents through a lens you may have never heard, and 🎯 Why "be fruitful and multiply" was never just about having babies. 🔎 There is also a stunning re-read of the Widow's Mite that will change the way you see that passage forever. 🔎 💸🤑💰 If you have been surviving financially instead of stewarding — or if money has felt like a subject you carry alone — this episode is for you. Have you met her yet?
Have you met her yet? The real you — not the one who shows up capable and composed, not the one who knows exactly what to say in every room — but the one underneath all of that. If that question makes you go quiet, this episode is for you. 🌿 In this deeply personal episode, Misty shares the story of the first time she asked God to show her herself — and what He showed her wasn’t pretty. 🪨 It was a burnt stub. Charcoal black. Not completely dead, but barely alive. And in that image, God didn’t give her a verdict. He gave her an invitation. He was saying: "I see what you’ve been through. I see what’s left. And I’m not done." Years later, the ashes became literal when her marriage ended and she found herself alone, rebuilding — and it was in that desert season, deep in the Song of Solomon, that God kept meeting her to speak tenderly, not to shame her but to show her she was still His. Still lovely. 🤍 This episode explores the difference between knowing yourself through other people’s eyes — through what you do and how you perform — and knowing yourself through holy collaboration with your Creator. Misty pushes back on the belief that self-knowledge is self-indulgent, grounding it in Psalm 139:23–24 where David himself prayed: Search me, God, and know my heart. She walks through three practical postures for beginning to know yourself: 1️⃣ solitude as the container, 2️⃣ the difference between managing emotions and actually feeling them (including a free feelings wheel resource), and 3️⃣ the desert season as gift rather than punishment. 🌼 She brings it all home to the two scriptures that anchor the entire Known series: Isaiah 61:3 — a crown of beauty instead of ashes, and oaks of righteousness for the display of His splendor — and Song of Solomon 1:5 — I am dark but lovely. Not dark therefore unlovable. Not lovely once it’s cleaned up. Dark and lovely, both at once. God called her lovely in the dark. He’s calling you lovely too. ✨ This is the final episode in the Known series (Episodes 103, 104, and 105). The Woman Nobody Sees
Surrounded by people but unknown to yourself? This episode names the quiet ache — and points you back to the One who has always seen you. 🌳 You can be surrounded by people who love you — and still be profoundly unknown. Not because anyone has failed you, but because somewhere in the accumulation of roles you carry, the woman underneath them got quiet. Got small. Got lost in plain sight. If that lands somewhere tender today, this episode is for you. 🧑👧 Misty shares two deeply personal stories — one from the stage of a thriving nonprofit where hundreds of women felt they knew her, and one from a marriage season where life finally slowed down enough for her to notice the hole in her soul. Both stories circle back to one quiet, aching truth: public intimacy and personal intimacy are not the same thing. The stage is a beautiful place to give. It is not always a safe place to receive. In this episode you’ll explore the difference between being known FOR something — your reputation, your role, your resume — and being truly KNOWN. Your interior. Your fears, your failures, your real questions at 2 AM. Misty walks through a practical friendship audit with three circles (Celebration, Community, and Core) and the brave questions she asked God when her core circle came up empty. 💛 And then she brings it all home to the only foundation that makes the rest possible: before there was a stage, a role, a title, or a calling — you were searched and you were known. Psalm 139:1 isn’t just a comfort verse. It’s the ground you stand on. The Holy One, the Maker of heaven and earth, has made Himself familiar with all your ways. Not the polished ones. All of them. He searched you and He stayed. You are not the woman nobody sees. You are the woman the Creator of the universe sees so completely that He counts the hairs on your head, catches your tears, and calls you His. Everything else — every circle, every friendship, every brave act of letting someone in — flows downstream from that. ✨ 🔗️ LINKS MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE BECOMING Group Coaching Cohort https://mistyhughes.com/cohort Christian Women in Business & Ministry Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/christianmomsinbusinessandministry 𓆩♡𓆪 Flourish In Friendship Podcast Series Ep 59: https://mistyhughes.com/how-to-grow-longtime-friendships-that-last/ Ep 60: https://mistyhughes.com/rediscovering-womens-friendships-in-a-disconnected-world/ Ep 61: https://mistyhughes.com/ep-61-lonely-but-not-alone-in-building-christ-centered-friendships-that-last/ Ep 62: https://mistyhughes.com/ep-62-moms-can-find-their-way-through-loneliness-by-understanding-this/ Ep 64: https://mistyhughes.com/ep-64-how-to-cultivate-authentic-friendships-even-when-it-feels-risky/ Flourish In Friendship FREE Friendship Circle Mapping Guide & MORE: https://mistyhughes.com/resources ☎️ Book a complimentary discovery call: https://calendly.com/mistyhughes/call-with-misty 💼 1:1 Private Coaching: https://mistyhughes.com/coaching 🌱 Free Rhythms of Renewal Mini-Guide: https://mistyhughes.myflodesk.com/discoverrhythms 📞 Got a Mom2Mom Question? Still Waiting? Give it 20 Years, Momma
Still waiting on a God-given dream? This episode names the ache—and shows you why the wait is not the waste. 🌳 Have you quietly set aside a dream you used to talk about? A calling, a ministry, a book, a marriage that feels like partnership, or simply the longing to finally feel at home in your own story? Friend, this episode is for you. In this episode, Misty gets deeply personal about the years she spent in the gap—watching God seem to fulfill everyone else’s dreams while she was left holding the bag after her marriage ended. Out of that pit came one of the most life-changing challenges she’s ever received: Give it twenty years. Not as a life sentence, but as an act of mercy—God’s honest invitation into the slow, sacred work of becoming. Through the stories of Sarah, David, Noah, and Joseph—whose waits stretched from 13 to 75 years—Misty shows us that the gap between God’s promise and its fulfillment has always been long, and always been intentional. Drawing from Isaiah 61:3 and the image of the oak tree (which takes 20–50 years to reach maturity), she makes the case that what looks like stalling is often deepening—root time, not wasted time. Misty also draws a crucial distinction between delay and detour—and gives listeners a practical question that might just reframe everything: Has God ever told you this dream was canceled? Or have you just been waiting so long it started to feel that way? If you’ve been quiet about a calling, wondering if you missed God, or exhausted by a season that won’t seem to move—this episode will meet you there. Grab your journal. It's Not Guilt, It's Grief | Mental Health, Motherhood, & Faith with Kelly Jackson
What does it look like to parent a child with a mental illness — and keep your faith intact? Kelly Jackson has lived it. This conversation is for you. There are moms sitting in church pews right now who are exhausted, confused, and quietly wondering if they're the only ones. Their child is struggling — with moods, behaviors, diagnoses they didn't see coming — and no one is talking about it. This episode is for them and for those who know someone who has mental health concerns. Kelly Jackson is the Executive Director of NAMI Johnson County and a mom who has walked one of the harder roads in parenting: a husband who experienced a suicide attempt, a daughter who began hearing voices at eleven, and the long, winding journey of learning to love her family well in the middle of it all. She doesn't speak from theory. She speaks from Tuesday mornings and medication trials and moments of grace. Together, Misty and Kelly talk through ✦ what mental health conditions actually are (and why "one in five" is a number every mom needs to sit with), ✦ how to find the right therapist for your child, ✦ what guilt and grief look like from the inside, and ✦ why Kelly believes the church has more room to grow in this conversation. Kelly also shares the one daily rhythm that has kept her anchored through all of it — and it's simpler than you might think. This isn't a heavy, clinical episode. It's a conversation between two women who love Jesus and love moms, trying to make sure no one has to figure this out alone. I Am The Words You Are The Tune
One hundred episodes of real conversations for real women — and for this one, I brought someone new into the studio. My husband Craig. The first man to ever sit across from me on Mom~2~Mom Mentoring. Craig and I are wired completely differently. 👀 I see the world through rose-colored glasses full of sparkle and shine. He sees it through spreadsheets. 📣 I process everything out loud. He goes quiet and sits with it for days. 💃🏻 I live out loud. He surrounds himself with a few close friends and lets the world carry on without him. And somewhere in the middle of all that difference — we have built something that is genuinely life-giving for both of us. Not because we became the same. But because we kept choosing each other anyway. In this episode, we get honest about what connection actually is — and what it isn't. We talk about ➤ core fears, ➤ the cycle that trips most couples up, ➤ what safety has to do with reconnection, ➤ ➤ ➤ and what Craig's spontaneous Neil Diamond reference in the middle of our conversation taught me all over again about why we work. This isn't a perfect marriage episode. There's no formula here. Just two people, six years in, still learning — and still choosing. What you'll take away: • Why connection is not the same as proximity — and how to feel the difference • The core fear cycle that trips up most couples (and how to interrupt it) • What safety has to do with reconnection — and why God is the safest place first • What it looks like when the dreamer and the realist stop defending their own plots and tend the garden together LINKS MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE Notice, Name, Feel, & Free Your Emotions - A FREE RESOURCE https://mistyhughes.myflodesk.com/feelings Contact Misty & Craig For Symbis (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) https://mistyhughes.com/inquire

The Calling Shifts The Purpose Holds for Christian Moms
Your calling is supposed to shift. Your purpose never does. Misty shares the testimony that will free the Christian mom striving in the wrong season. Have you ever felt on fire for God — heart so full it needed somewhere to go — and then had Him redirect that fire somewhere you weren’t expecting? Somewhere smaller, quieter, and far less visible than you had in mind? In episode 99 of Mom2Mom Mentoring, I get honest about one of the most significant redirects of my life. In the mid-nineties, in the middle of a genuine community revival, I experienced an awakening to the love of God that lit me on fire. I was wired to build, to connect, to pour — and I was ready. But God’s answer to my fire wasn’t a platform. It was a kitchen table and four kids. What followed was decades of faithfulness in unsexy, unglamorous, often invisible assignments — a homeschool co-op, teenagers at church, a children’s ministry, people always around the table. And when the bottom fell out in 1998, and my marriage ended, I had to find her footing all over again. It was in that broken season that God gave me the longer vision: give it twenty years. This episode is for the Christian mom who can’t see evidence that her faithfulness is doing anything. The one asking God to show her He’s working — and almost missing the answer because it comes in the form of a little boy quietly singing a worship song while playing with his toy cars on the floor. In this episode: The difference between purpose (your why) and calling (your how) — and why your calling is supposed to keep shifting Why staying faithful in a hard, slow season costs something real — and why that’s worth naming The exponential math God showed Misty about faithfulness in her own home What Isaiah 61:3 says about oaks of righteousness — and why some plantings take decades The harvest belongs to God, not to you — and why that is the most freeing truth you’ll ever stand on A direct invitation to the BECOMING Cohort for women ready to stop striving and start living from purpose Key Scripture Jeremiah 20:9 — His word like fire shut up in my bones Isaiah 55:8–9 — My thoughts are not your thoughts Isaiah 61:3 — Oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord 1 Corinthians 3:6–7 — I planted, Apollos watered, God made it grow Philippians 1:6 — He who began a good work will complete it Free Resource Grab the Rhythms of Renewal Mini-Guide — a free workbook walking you through rest, restoration, and relationship, with a Discovery Bible Study through Matthew 11:28–30. You Were Called Before You Were Busy
You feel a stirring you can’t name — and the harder you chase it, the more exhausted you become. Misty Hughes unpacks the difference between purpose and calling, and why you were called before you were busy. Have you ever been asked what you feel called to — and frozen? Because...you have no idea how to answer that question, and the very question itself feels weighty, and the last thing you need is more weight to carry. In this episode of Mom2Mom Mentoring, Misty Hughes gets honest about a season when she had four kids, a baby on her hip, and a persistent yearning she couldn’t put language to. She was homeschooling, working, serving — and still felt like the real calling was somewhere out there, just beyond her reach. Like God was holding this carrot in front of me, asking me to chase after something that I was too tired to run after (but was desperate to please God so I kept chasing) What she discovered changed the way she understood everything — purpose, calling, and what it actually means to be a woman who feels stirred for more. In this episode you’ll hear: Why purpose-chasing is one of the top drivers of burnout in high-achieving Christian women The powerful distinction between purpose (your identity in Christ) and calling (your seasonal assignment) What Ephesians 2:10, Jeremiah 29:11, and Jeremiah 1:5 reveal about the works already prepared for you Why the mom in the trenches with toddlers is not on the sidelines — and why the woman with a stirring doesn’t need to chase it down How to stop striving and start walking with the One who holds your calling This is episode 98 — just two away from 100. And something is coming for that milestone you won’t want to miss. Praying Scripture Over Your Kids With Dana Williams
What if the most powerful thing you could do for your child today takes less than five minutes — and it's completely free? In this episode, I sit down with Dana Williams, author and founder of Redeemed Identity Ministries, to talk about praying Scripture over your children: what it is, why affirmations alone aren't enough, and exactly how to start — even on your most exhausted days. Dana walked through 25 years of a difficult marriage — and in the middle of it, she picked up her sword. She learned to pray the living Word of God, not just over her own life but over her children. And she is going to show you how to do the same. In this episode: → Why Scripture does something in your child that even the most beautiful affirmation cannot → The "breacher" illustration that will change how you see yourself as a praying parent → A live example of praying Jeremiah 17:7 with your child's name inserted → Simple, realistic first steps for busy moms — no spreadsheet required → The one thing Dana says to do tonight, even if you only have five minutes Resources mentioned: 📚 Dana's free book on praying Scripture (email [email protected]) · 🎙️ Dana's podcast: Redeemed Identity After Divorce ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ٨ـ Misty's Free workbook: Rhythms of Renewal: https://mistyhughes.myflodesk.com/discoverrhythms· Community: Christian Moms in Business and Ministry on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/christianmomsinbusinessandministry Father's Love Letter: https://www.fathersloveletter.com/ "When you shine, you give others permission to shine too." — Misty Hughes

You Become What You Behold, So Look Up
You become what you behold — so where are your eyes today? This episode is for the mom who is highly capable, deeply called, and quietly exhausted from staring at everything that feels broken, missing, or not yet fixed. If that's you, this conversation was made for you. I get personal in this one. Like, really personal. I open up about the season I found myself raising four kids — ages two to thirteen — with a vacancy in our home that no amount of striving, surviving, or smiling through could fill. And what I discovered in that hard, holy season will empower you to think a new way of seeing your problems, something today. Here's what we dig into 👇 We unpack the Greek word idou — what John the Baptist actually meant when he said "Behold the Lamb of God" — and why it is so much more than a glance. We sit with the raw, honest prayer of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:12, the prayer of a man who was outnumbered, out-resourced, and completely out of answers. And we talk about the vacancies — the holes, the hardships, the places where something was supposed to be and simply isn't — and why those exact places might just be God's favorite address. 🙌 This isn't a name-it-and-claim-it pep talk. This is real. This is hope with roots. Your ONE THING is waiting for you at the end — and beloved, it's a good one. ✨ Come celebrate with us! What in the World Do Goats Have to Do With Raising Great Kids
What do goats have to do with raising great kids? More than you think. 🐐 This episode started as a conversation about mentoring and ended up as one of the most unexpected, Spirit-breathed teachings I have ever sat inside — straight from the Song of Solomon, through Luke 9:48, and into your living room. If you have ever felt like the most difficult person in your life — your child, your student, the woman you mentor, maybe even yourself — is just too much, too stubborn, too far gone: this is for you. In today's episode, I invite you to sit with me in the Word. Here is some of what we unpack together in this episode: 🌿 Song of Solomon 1:8 — why the Shepherd told the searching woman to tend her young goats (and what that has to do with finding God in the middle of a season you didn't choose) 📖 Luke 9:48 and the Greek word MIKROTEROS — three layers of meaning inside the word 'least' that will completely change how you see the people in your care 🐐 Why your most stubborn, most chaotic, most headbutting goat is not a problem to manage — they are a calling to honor 🔥 The shift from chaotic goat to the GOAT — greatest of all time — and the one thing that makes the difference 🤍 A word about the season you are in right now, from a woman who has lived in 30 countries and is currently in the hardest season of her life — and is still standing I also sit with the brilliant Dr. Charity Campbell-Kapella — global leadership expert, founder of International Mamas and Mentors, and mama to a very spirited two-year-old she lovingly calls her own personal goat 😂 — whose words throughout this episode will make you laugh, catch your breath, and finally exhale. This is Part 2 of 2. If you haven't listened to Part 1 yet, go back — it is the foundation. But if you came back because of the goat teaser at the end of last week's episode? I am so glad you're here. You are not going to be disappointed. 🙌 🎁 FREE RESOURCE: The Rhythms of Renewal Mini-Guide — a free, prayerful workbook to help you trade survival mode for Spirit-led living. https://lead-her-ministries.myflodesk.com/renewalminiguide 💬 COMMUNITY: Join Christian Moms in Business and Ministry on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/christianmomsinbusinessandministry 🔗 BECOMING COHORT: Ready to stop living from your to-do list? When Your Calling And Your Chaos Are In The Same Room
Have you ever felt completely called and completely stuck at the exact same time? 🙋♀️ This episode is for every mom who knows God put something in her — and wonders if that something still has a future. Meet Dr. Charity Campbell-Kapella — global leadership expert, doctorate in management, founder of International Mamas and Mentors, and a woman who has led leaders in over 30 countries. She was living her dream. Then at 37, everything changed. And what happened next is not a story about putting your calling on hold. It’s a story about discovering that your calling and your chaos were never actually in conflict. Dr. Charity was a solo female traveler, university professor in China, and cultural intelligence consultant across U.S. embassies in Vietnam, Iraq, and beyond — leading leaders in 30+ countries. Then at 37 she got married, got pregnant, moved countries, and found herself raising her son alone while her husband waited overseas for a visa she couldn’t control. 🌍 She didn’t give up her calling. She gave in to the season. And God met her there. What You’ll Discover in This Episode ✨ What it actually feels like to surrender a season you didn’t choose — and why that surrender is not defeat 🌱 Why “giving in” is not the same as giving up — and why that distinction will set you free 👶 What it looks like to raise a global leader from your living room 🌍 How to parent with purpose when your family is scattered across time zones 💪 Releasing shame around not having it all together — physically, emotionally, spiritually — and receiving God’s grace for the one thing that actually needs it most right now 📖 Isaiah 8:18 — the verse that will change how you see every child God has placed in your care 🤍 The difference between passing the test on paper and actually being at peace in your season About Dr. Charity Dr. Charity Campbell-Kapella holds a doctorate in management, has worked with U.S. embassies across China, Vietnam, and Iraq, and is one of the sharpest cultural intelligence experts working today. She’s a wife to a man from Zambia whom she met in China 🌏, a mama raising a rising global leader, founder of International Mamas and Mentors Virtual Community, and now runs an AI integration and automation agency. Reimagining Your Life With God When You Feel Stuck In Survival Mode
Feeling stuck in survival mode as a Christian mom? In this episode, discover how God invites you to reimagine your life with hope, healing, and purpose—even when you cannot see the full picture yet. If you’ve been exhausted, discouraged, or unsure what’s next, this conversation will help you begin imagining what renewal might look like in your real, everyday life. ✨ Have you ever looked around at your life and thought, “I’m doing all the right things… so why does this still feel so hard?” You love your family. You’re committed to your faith. You’re showing up for work, ministry, and responsibilities every single day… …but deep down, something feels off. You’re tired. You’re stretched thin. And if you’re honest, you may have quietly stopped hoping that life could feel any different than it does right now. In this final episode of the Rhythms of Renewal series on the Mom2Mom Mentoring Podcast, we’re talking about something many high-achieving Christian moms struggle to name: You may not be lacking discipline. You may not be doing anything “wrong.” You may have simply stopped imagining that things could change. 💭 Re-imagining is not about having a perfect plan for your future. 💭 It’s not about fixing your life overnight. 💭 And it’s definitely not about striving for more. It’s about permission. Permission to believe: “I can live differently.” “God may be inviting me into something specific.” “I don’t have to figure out the whole picture—just notice what’s being highlighted.” In this episode, Misty Hughes—transformational coach and mentor for Kingdom-minded moms navigating seasons of change—shares part of her own story of becoming a single mom and how, in the midst of heartbreak and uncertainty, God restored her ability to imagine a different future for her children… and eventually for herself. You’ll learn: ✨ Why exhaustion and disappointment often shut down our ability to dream ✨ How re-imagining begins with curiosity—not certainty ✨ What Scripture says about God’s ability to do more than we ask or imagine ✨ How to notice what the Holy Spirit may already be highlighting in this season ✨ A simple awareness practice to help you begin listening for God’s invitation This episode isn’t about answers. It’s about opening your heart to the possibility that renewal might begin with one small shift in perspective. If you’re ready to: ✔️ move from survival mode into Spirit-led living ✔️ rediscover hope in a weary season ✔️ and begin noticing where God may be inviting you next Be sure to download the free Rhythms of Renewal Mini Guidebook linked in the show notes 📓 And if you’re tired of gaining information and ready to pursue transformation with support and accountability, join the waitlist for Misty’s upcoming 12-week coaching cohort designed specifically for Christian moms in transition. 💬 Join the conversation inside our Facebook Community Mom2Mom Mentoring 📲 Follow the podcast so you never miss an episode ⭐ Leave a review to help other moms find encouragement in their own renewal journey 📤 And share this episode with a friend who may need permission to imagine again Because here’s the truth: God is not asking you to figure out your future. Soul Restoration for Moms Who are Still Exhausted After Resting
Have you ever rested but still felt worn thin inside? You got a full night's sleep, maybe even a girls' weekend away, but something in your soul still feels exhausted. This episode reveals why rest alone doesn't always heal the deeper places—and how God restores what depletion has damaged. You might just need restoration, not just rest. 💛 In Part 2 of the Rhythms of Renewal series, Misty Hughes explores the profound difference between rest and restoration, and why so many Christian moms are functioning well on the outside but feeling numb, disconnected, and spiritually dry on the inside. In this episode, you'll discover: ✨ Why new moms lose an average of 700 hours of sleep in the first year (and why sleep fragmentation is as damaging as total sleep deprivation) 📖 The powerful truth behind Psalm 23: "He restores my soul"—and what restoration actually looks like 💔 Signs you may need restoration: functioning well but feeling emotionally numb, productive but joyless, faithful but spiritually dry 🌿 The four layers of restoration: emotional, spiritual, identity, and relational healing 🙏 How restoration happens through honest naming, remembering your identity, receiving grace, and small repeated rhythms Misty vulnerably shares her own story of discovering shattered places in her soul—even decades into her faith journey—and how God continues to gently repair what's been worn down, strained, or distorted over time. Key Truth from This Episode: Rest stops the depletion. Restoration rebuilds what that depletion has damaged. Rest creates room—restoration is what God does in that space. If you feel chronically drained, emotionally numb despite being productive, or spiritually dry even though you love Jesus—this episode will meet you right where you are with hope, truth, and a gentle invitation from the One who restores souls. What To Do When Life Crashes Over Your Head
Feeling overwhelmed, stretched too thin, and exhausted from trying to control outcomes you were never meant to carry? You're not alone. In this episode, I'm sharing a powerful story about a wave that literally crashed over my head in Puerto Rico—and what God whispered to my heart in that moment that's changing how I'm walking into 2026. Maybe you're spiritually dry, carrying invisible guilt, and wondering when you'll finally get to exhale. Here's what I want you to know: You are safe with Him. You can actually enjoy the wind and the waves when He's the One hiding you in the cleft of the rock. 🌊 In This Episode, You'll Discover: The miraculous story of a rare wave in Puerto Rico and what it revealed about God's delight in His daughters Why Peter began to sink (and what that means for you when life feels overwhelming) The difference between bracing for impact and trusting the One who holds you How to move from "what if" thinking to faith-filled living What Psalm 42:7-8 teaches us about waves sweeping over us while God directs His love Practical ways to stop surviving and start thriving in 2026 💡 This Episode Is Perfect For You If: You're doing all the right things but still feel like something's missing You're tired of living in survival mode and craving more peace and purpose You're struggling with decision fatigue, mom guilt, or constant overwhelm You want to reconnect with Jesus in a way that feels personal and life-giving again You're ready to let go of control and step into the abundant life you're promised ✨ The Big Takeaway: The wave is coming—but so is the joy. When you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus instead of bracing for impact, you can experience delight in the adventure because you know who's holding you. As I share in the episode, I wasn't always this way. For years, I lived in "what if" land, dwelling in fear and exhausting everyone around me. But through my divorce and single parenting journey, I learned that God is trustworthy, that He has my best interest at heart, and that His joy goes even deeper than the sorrow. This isn't a quick fix—it's a sacred shift. And if you're ready to stop surviving and start living in abundance and alignment, I'm here to help. 🎥 Watch the wave video (it's intense but beautiful!): https://youtu.be/hcafKybBdJ8?si=QHQPwIB4500FRXlh 📞 Book your FREE 30-minute Clarity Call: Discover where you're stuck and get an action step to move toward your desired outcome. When The Miracle Comes Quietly
A Christmas Day fireside conversation for the mom who carried it all—and wonders if the miracle was supposed to look bigger. This gentle episode offers rest, hope, and the reminder that God often comes quietly. 🎄🔥 Christmas has a way of building expectations—and then leaving us quietly wondering, “Is this it?” In this special Christmas Day episode of the Mom2Mom Mentoring Podcast, Misty invites you into a gentle fireside conversation created especially for the mom who carried the weight of the season—emotionally, mentally, spiritually—and now finds herself tired, reflective, and longing for peace. This episode is not a lesson or a to-do list. It’s a pause. Rooted in the Christmas story from Luke 2, Misty reflects on Mary, the long silence before the Savior came, and the miracle that didn’t arrive with fanfare—but with humility, quiet, and hope. Together, we wonder about the moments after the shepherds left, when the noise faded and the miracle looked smaller than expected. If you’re a busy mom, a Christian woman feeling overwhelmed, or someone longing to reconnect with God in a quieter way this Christmas, this episode is for you. It’s an invitation to rest, to notice the small miracles of the day, and to remember that God often comes when there is nothing left—and we are simply still enough to receive Him. Listen early in the morning, late at night, or anytime the house grows quiet. Let this be your Christmas gift—a reminder that you are seen, you are loved, and you don’t have to carry it all alone.

How to Build Healthy Family Relationships During The Holidays with Lori Wildenberg
Discover practical, faith-filled tools for building healthy family relationships during the holidays. In this episode of Mom2Mom Mentoring, Misty Hughes and author/speaker Lori Wildenberg explore how to navigate in-laws, expectations, adult children, and legacy-building with wisdom, grace, and biblical perspective. How to Build Healthy Family Relationships During the Holidays is the conversation your heart has been craving as you prepare for family gatherings, layered expectations, and the delicate dynamics that come with adult children, in-laws, and growing extended families. In this deeply encouraging episode, I sit down with my longtime friend, licensed parent and family educator Lori Wildenberg, to unpack what it looks like to pursue peace, communicate with kindness, and build a lasting legacy of faith — even when holiday plans feel complicated. Lori brings decades of wisdom from working with parents and families and shares practical insights that reach right into the real, lived experiences of today’s moms. Together, we talk about navigating shifting roles with adult children, how to respect newly formed households, and why in-law relationships need friendship far more than unsolicited advice. Lori’s calm presence and grace-filled outlook help us see that honoring one another is not just a suggestion — it’s a biblical anchor that can transform interactions that might otherwise feel tense. This episode leans into the heart-level questions many women carry but often feel hesitant to say out loud: — How do I handle traditions when the family schedule changes? — How do we set expectations without stepping on toes? — How do I love my adult kids well without overstepping? — What does it look like to find unity when in-laws are involved? Lori reminds us that flexibility is a gift we give ourselves as much as we give others. We discuss practical communication tools, ways to express needs without pressure, and how to bless our adult kids by releasing them from holiday guilt. We also talk about the importance of legacy — not the big sweeping moments, but the quiet, ordinary seeds of faith we sow through presence, prayer, empathy, and consistency. Lori shares touching stories about her own parents and grandparents and how those experiences shaped her newest book, Grand Parents Make Grand Partners: How to Have an Eternal Impact on Your Grandchild’s Life. Her words invite every listener to think differently about the influence God has given them in their family line. If you’ve ever found yourself anxious about holiday logistics, frustrated by unmet expectations, or wishing your family relationships felt easier, this conversation will give you both relief and direction. It’s warm, wise, relatable, and deeply rooted in Scripture — exactly the kind of conversation you want whispering in your earbuds as you head into a busy holiday season. Friend, you don’t have to navigate family relationships alone. Let this episode equip you to show up with grace, communicate with clarity, and bring the light of Christ into every space your feet enter this season. The One Step Most Moms Skip In Emotional Healing
Most Christian moms struggle with emotions because we were never taught how to process them in God’s presence. In this episode, you’ll discover the one step most women skip in emotional healing—and how to notice, name, and free your emotions with God’s help. If you’ve ever stuffed down anger, guilt, fear, or even joy, you’re not alone. Many women were raised to believe emotions are “too much,” or even wrong. But God designed our emotions as signals, not problems. They can become a pathway to deeper intimacy with Him when we learn how to bring them into His presence instead of running away from them. In this episode of Mom2Mom Mentoring, Misty shares her own journey of learning to welcome emotions she once judged or abandoned, and why that shift has brought her greater freedom. You’ll hear a practical, prayerful 4-step rhythm—Notice → Name → Feel → Free—that helps busy Christian moms process emotions in a healthy, biblical way. ✨ What you’ll learn in this episode: Why emotions are not good or bad—they’re God-given signals. F.R.E.E.D From The Hidden Roots Of Bitterness
I get it. You’re holding so much—your family, your work, your faith, your home—and while you pour out for everyone else, there are moments when someone’s words or actions sting deeper than you’d like to admit. It starts small, doesn’t it? A disappointment here, an offense there. But slowly, quietly, it grows into something bigger, heavier: bitterness. And the truth is, bitterness never stays hidden—it eventually ♥︎ steals our joy, ♥︎ weighs down our spirit, and ♥︎ makes love harder to give freely. This week, I want to walk alongside you and talk honestly about when bitterness creeps in. Together, we’ll uncover how it sneaks into our lives, why it holds us back, and most importantly, how God offers freedom from its grip. ❚█══█❚ You don’t have to carry this weight, nor are you created to carry this weight. 🕊️ Jesus offers something lighter, more beautiful, more freeing. And I promise—you’ll breathe easier once you take that step toward release. Let’s take that step together. Grab the Naming, Feeling, and FREEING Your Emotions Guide and bring your heart to the Master Gardener to let Him plant what is good. 🔗 CONNECT WITH MISTY ✅ Mom2MomMentoring. ✅ JOIN the FaceBook Group | Mom 2 Mom Mentoring ✅ FOLLOW ME on Instagram | LeadHer_Coaching ✅ SUBSCRIBE | Hit subscribe. ✅ LEAVE a review | Leave a review and share it with other moms.
