It can be easy to just let life happen to us or feel like we are barely hanging on and just trying to get through each day. Yet, we are challenged to live intentionally, to walk in a way that is pleasing to God and to be used by Him. In 2 Corinthians 6 and 7, Paul encourages us to not receive the gift of salvation in vain, but to make the most of what we have been given and to share it with others. We get to reflect the grace of God to those around us and be ambassadors for Christ. Let us not waste the time we have been given. I remember thinking that when I had children, I wanted to give my kids the gift of prayer. Fast forward 25 years, my sons were 10 and 12 and our family was going on a 5-week trip to Africa for my husband to teach at Uganda Baptist Seminary. I was asked to teach the women about parenting. The Lord impressed on me to not be afraid, to read the new book I had brought on the trip, Every Child Needs a Praying Mom by Fern Nichols, and to use that book to teach the four steps of prayer to the Ugandan moms. When I got home, I realized I couldn’t go to Africa and do something I wasn’t willing to do in my own town, so I started a Moms in Prayer group.Whether our kids are in a private school, public school, or homeschool, we will be better parents when we are consistently praying with other women for our children.It is wonderful to have other women praying over my children. I can look back at the prayer sheets and see that God has been faithful. God continues to shape my sons into the men of God He wants them to be. I first experienced Moms in Prayer (MIP) through the invitation of a friend. My four children were all still young and homeschooled at the time. Seeing the need to pray for them, I quickly gravitated to a MIP group and found encouragement and power through praying scripture.My involvement in MIP has changed everything in our family and church life and I have witnessed the Lord do exceedingly abundantly more than I asked or thought. He has been faithful through one child’s prodigal season and I have seen Him work in each of my children’s lives to deepen their personal relationship with Him. My local area coordinator had a table set up there. She wonderfully shared how we could gather as moms to pray for our children and schools, releasing the stress and anxious thoughts that burden us. So, I started a group right away with one other mom! God was faithful to bring others to pray with us for the schools in our area. And, it’s such a God thing that, in the following years, I was able to host that same Moms in Prayer table at my church, continuing to share the vision that all schools be covered in prayer!My favorite Scripture verse and one I cling to, is Ephesians 3:20, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…”I have been married to John since 2009 and we have two teenage boys, Cooper and Cade. We have three adult children with spouses and nine grandchildren. We raised our family in Wenatchee, Washington and now live near them all in Meridian, Idaho. I heard God’s Spirit call me in March 2023 to serve the women of Idaho as State Coordinator for MIP. It is a huge blessing to support, train, develop leadership across this state as we pray and fast for the salvation of students. I dropped in on the meeting and it was great! The four steps format was easy to follow and we prayed Scripture straight from the Bible over our children and their schools. We prayed together in small groups of two or three. It was comforting to know that what we prayed about stayed in our group. We went through many trials and struggles with all of our children, but the comfort and peace I had every time I left those meetings was indescribable. We had indeed gone to battle for our children through prayer.I was born in Alabama. I prayed for 18 years before knowing there were big things happening in this organization, that it was spreading around the world! I served as an Area Coordinator for one year before being prayed into the State Coordinator position. I have met so many beautiful ladies through Moms in Prayer and have learned so much from them.I have been married to my kindergarten crush for 42 years. We have been farming on his and my parents' family farms for 46 years. We credit God for getting us to where we are today. My husband is the best cheerleader for Moms in Prayer! We co-led a youth group for 19 years. This helped us understand what challenges our youth are facing and were able to place them on the Moms in Prayer "mat".  We participated in prison ministry for many years and were able to see the answers to the prayers of moms and grandmothers for their loved ones who were now inmates, as they were giving their life to Christ in prison. Meet them where they are at Lord!We have three grown and married children, Blase, Danielle and Cole. We rejoice that they and their spouses follow Jesus. They have blessed us with six grandchildren (3 boys and 3 girls). Blase farms with us and if his three-year-old can decide his future, at least one grandson will hope to farm. Compelled by joy and the hope God gave as she prayed with others for her children and their schools, Sally began to reach out and share with other moms—first as a Moms in Prayer group leader, then area coordinator for her hometown of Temecula, California, and later as regional coordinator for Riverside County. In 2008, Sally became the Director of Field Ministry at Moms in Prayer headquarters, overseeing ministry expansion worldwide. She realized the warfare would be intense and to fight in this battle she needed to invite other moms to pray. She called a mom and asked her to pray with her for their children and school. She didn’t feel like doing the uncomfortable, the inconvenient, nor the irrational.  But God.  Through Holy Spirit’s conviction and empowerment, she said “yes” to a friend’s (and the Lord’s) invitation to attend a Moms in Prayer group. Despite the fear of others, the opposition of her flesh, and the lies of the enemy, she showed up. And is beyond glad that she did!Mary Jane cannot imagine how radically different life would have been without Moms in Prayer. Now 20 years later, after her first yes to Moms in Prayer, she can testify that she has seen many children, including her own three daughters, grow up to love, serve and follow the Lord. In addition, by God’s grace, school communities have been sustained and strengthened despite the temptations and trials of this world. Finally, praying God’s good and beautiful word has helped her and other moms to live victoriously in Christ instead of unnecessarily defeated by the enemy.  Praise be to Jesus Christ, who has destroyed the barriers!
