Depression in general, and my depression in specific, is not something I usually like to talk about openly. My friend Ed, on the other hand, finds that it’s easier to cope with his down periods through open, honest discussion. So, we’re trying it his way. This is not, in any way, a stunt for attention. For either of us. This is us, saying “we’ve been through some shit, maybe you have too. And if you have, you’re not alone.” Sometimes — especially this time of year — you need to hear that. And that’s why we’re doing this. Like I said, this isn’t something I’m comfortable talking about often. This is quite probably the only time I’ll be getting quite this personal in these or any other recordings. But, for the sake of that simple message — you’re not alone and you can beat this thing — it’s worth it.

In early 2012, my good friend “Irish” Gav Brown and I had this discussion about comedy — specifically about the similarities and differences between American and British comedy. This was recorded just as I’d decided to move Sarcastic Voyage in a different direction, but I think we had an interesting talk, so I present that here for you now.

Terry Drosdak (or, as I know her, T-Dro) is an independent crafter who has enjoyed reasonable success on Etsy. After I’d posted my earlier shows on productivity, she asked me about inspiration (ie, “where do you get your ideas?”) So we talked about that. This is us, talking about that. Irene is a person whose work ethic I respect tremendously. Not only is she finishing up her Masters thesis, but she’s also maintained steady employment, finished National Novel Writing Month and produced some pretty decent short fiction.
