Mr. Peggy Joyce Ruth
by Pastor Jack Ruth
Every Sunday, Pastor Jack would say, “If you will grab hold of this message, it will change your life,” and we can all vouch that it did. Pastor Jack Ruth, or Pastor Jack, as we called him, and Peggy Joyce started Living Word Church in Brownwood, Texas. They pastored together from the '80s to “retirement” in the early 2000s. Jack’s childlike faith set the vision and foundation for the church and the Psalm 91 ministry that followed. At one of the recordings with Sid Roth where Peggy Joyce was to speak, Jack simply introduced himself as Mr. Peggy Joyce Ruth. Everyone burst into laughter. In honor of "Mr. Peggy Joyce Ruth" we hope his teachings bless your life as much as they have ours.

What the Enemy Meant for Evil God Will Turn For Good - March 1997
If we trust God and believe that whatever the enemy has meant to cause evil, God will turn and work it for good, you can never lose. Everything Satan tries to tear you down with can be used to bring his kingdom down. David cut the head off Goliath with the very sword that was intended to destroy him and the nation of Israel.

Do You Believe Enough to Expect a Miracle? - November 1996
Most people have never been taught to believe for miracles. But miracles are simple. Just believe God's Word. If God's Word says it, believe it. It doesn't require a ritual or a bunch of religious steps to see a miracle. It's not a feeling. You don't feel faith. Faith is a choice. It's simply a choice to believe God's Word.

Vision for Giving - December 1996
Don't lose the vision of giving. It is God's nature to give. Vision is from God. Fantasy is one step before failure. The most important thing about giving is our attitude when we give. It is important to expect when we give. When we give, we give to get, and then to give again. But if we give and hold on to it, that is what causes blessings to stop. The Lord sees what you give and the heart you give with, and He will always be faithful to provide. God gave His best gift. His Son. What will we give in return?

Judas Iscariot - October 1997
Was Judas evil from the beginning? Judas walked in the same authority as the other disciples. He seemed to walk by faith like all the other disciples. At the Last Supper, none of the disciples knew Judas was any different than them. So what was the difference? Even though Judas had been given authority over the enemy, he had unresolved issues in his heart, small things not dealt with, which eventually grew and led him to betrayal and destruction. If we are honest, we all have a little Judas in us that we need to get rid of.

Seeking the Will of the Father - November 1996
We tend to seek to please men instead of seeking to please the Father. Jesus did not seek glory from men but from the Father, so that He could bring glory to the Father. Do you receive from God just for your own personal gain or to bring glory to the Father?

Pentecost - May 1997
If you are a Christian without power, you have already lost the battle. We need the Holy Spirit to come alive in us as Believers. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. -Acts 1:8.

A Glimpse Into Living Word Church - March 1997
God wants to use your life to fulfill His dreams. It is His Word and His presence that keep everything working around us. When we worship, miracles and provision simply happen in God's presence. God has given us the capacity to be the best lovers in the world. It is out of our love for the Father that we share Jesus with the people around us.

Marriage Covenant - November 1997
Are you praying for the best marriage in the world? God just might give it to you. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. - Proverbs 27:17. There is something added when different personalities come together. God causes the differences in men and women to sharpen one another. Even though there may be rough patches, we are not meant to try marriage out. It is not a contract between two people. It is a covenant relationship between God and a man and a woman.

Multitudes - October 1996
If we have to see to believe, we already have a huge problem. Strangely, seeing miracles does not cause you to believe God. It is the Word that brings us to believe. You cannot build on signs and wonders alone, but if you build on the Word, the signs and wonders will follow.

Windshield or Bug? - November 1996
In this fallen world, we have the right to give up when we fall, but we are not citizens of this world. In God's kingdom, when we fall, we have the right to get back up, and we have God's help in getting back up. Pity parties are not allowed in the kingdom of God. We have the privilege of getting back up. No matter what we are facing or how bad it looks when we turn our face to God, He can turn everything around.

Secret Truth Revealed - February 1998
God's Word is what makes the world make sense. There are things hidden in the scriptures since the foundation of the world. The things that were hidden are now being revealed. It's not what man says but what God's Word says that will get us through these days. The more Word we get working in us, the better things will become.

What The Word Believe Means - January 1998
The word believe means more than just believing that God exists. Believe means to release faith in Jesus. We learn to release faith in all that Jesus is and what He came to do on this earth. When we believe and come under His authority, we now walk in authority. There is no authority in our own name or our own power our authority comes from the power and the name of Jesus.

Are You Spoiled? - March 1997
We are living in a spoiled generation. Kingdom living has a price to pay. When our comfort zone takes priority over the kingdom of God, we have a problem. When you grow up in comfort, you lack the strength it takes to resist temptation and the strength it takes to have a successful life. We need to ask ourselves, honestly, do we see God as the Master of our lives and ourselves as the servant, or are we trying to use God to get everything we want? When we only think of ourselves, we truly miss the goodness God wants to pour into our lives.

Resurrection Sunday - March 1996
Resurrection from the dead is what makes Christianity the truth. Every other religion has a dead leader. Jesus Christ is the only one who was raised from the dead.

God Still Speaks - December 1997
There is nothing better than hearing from God. God finishes everything He starts. He is entirely faithful. But it is important that when God is speaking, we are fully listening and fully obeying. 95% obedience won't cut it. Full obedience brings full results. We must get rid of any rebellion in our hearts that is keeping us from God.

God Doesn't Always Do - December 1997
God does always do the way we do. We would have our child born in the best hospital, God had His born in a manger. We would send our children to the best schools in the land, God trained His Son in a carpenter's shop and in the wilderness. What we would do and what God wants to do are often very different.

Letting God's Word Be - February 1997
God called everything into being through His Words. When God created the earth, He said, "Let there be." By what we speak, we let things be and become in our lives. If we speak and believe negatively, we are letting the enemy be in our lives. But when we are speaking and coming into agreement with God's Word, we are letting His Word be in our lives. The blessings of God will overtake you if you obey if you let God's Word be in your life.

Preparing For Revival - January 1997
How do you prepare for revival? When we are faithful in the small things God has given us to steward, God brings the increase. In the gospels, God entrusted more to the servants who were faithful with the talents He gave them. He cast out the one who did nothing with what he was given. When we faithfully do the small things, we can be trusted with the big things. That is when God will bring revival.

The History and Future of Israel - July 1996
Our heritage as Christians and our future are wrapped up in the nation of Israel. The Jewish Nation carries with it a blessing but much of the current hatred toward the Jews dates back to writings from the early 1900s. Those writings were used to brainwash concentration camp soldiers, and those ideas are still influencing culture today. It is the blessing of the Lord that causes Jewish people to rise to the top of every society. We have a lot to learn from our Jewish heritage. Truly, those who bless Israel are blessed, and those who curse Israel are cursed.

Our Authority Comes From Speaking HIs Word - June 1997
We cannot lose unless we give up. Our words cause us either to give up or to overcome in life. The children of Israel brought back bad words after spying out the Promise Land. It cost them 40 years. How much have our negative words cost us? We must remove evil reports from our vocabulary and put God's report on our tongue.

Why Receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit - June 1998
Are we going to choose the high road or the low road? People ask, "Why would I receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit? I received the Holy Spirit when I was saved." And you did. It is impossible to get saved without the Holy Spirit, but there are two experiences. Jesus breathed on His disciples in John 20:22, and they received the Holy Spirit. It wasn't until Acts 2 that they received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the boldness and power that came with it.

Robbed of Blessings - September 1996
Many people are robbed of God's blessing because they lack an understanding of what God has for them. The law of sowing and reaping governs all other laws. The more we give in any area of life, the more we will increase. The more we hoard back, the more we fall into poverty. If you are only giving to receive, you'll be stuck, but if you give to give again, God will bless you.

There is a God - July 1996
Psalms 14:1 says, "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God,'" and Romans 1:18-19 says, "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness because that which is known about God is evident within them." As believers, we need to be ready to speak the truth to awaken in mankind what they know to be true—that there is a living God.

God's Gift of a Name - Father's Day 1996
God cares about His name, and we should as well. Your name has great meaning and importance attached to it. A good name is to be more desired than great wealth. - Proverbs 22:1. Our reputation creates the name we pass on to our family and future generations. We should work to ensure our name is a good gift to our family.

No Small Miracles - August 1996
From the story of Naaman: To see a miracle, God must be our source, the Word of God must be our final authority, we must become a joyful giver, we need to expect a miracle, and we must do spiritual warfare to get rid of Satan.

Exercising Spiritual Authority - May 1997
We must understand the power we have over the enemy. If we don't understand our spiritual authority the devil will beat up on us, but if we know our authority we can send him running. When Jesus walked the earth He prayed all night long and then commanded all day long. We are to do the same with the authority that has been given to us.

Growing In Faith And Hearing God - November 1996
The world’s logic seems right because most people operate from it. But when we are led by logic or the facts, it is always the fact we don't know that messes everything up. That is why we must grow in faith and be led by the voice of the Lord. God has seen the end from the beginning, and His voice will help us navigate what we don’t see coming. (Jack was on the School Board years ago and worked to keep the students from using the Lord's name in vain which was in the script of a play.)

Discouragement - January 1997
Discouragement is the enemy's last attempt before the miracles come. When God is missing and nowhere to be seen in our lives we must go back to the last place we heard Him. Mary's faith brought her back to the tomb even though Jesus had died. And because of her faith, she was the first to not only hear Jesus but to see Him.

Expect Miracles - September 1996
If we don't have miracles we are in dead duck in water. But as believers, we can expect God to do miracles. His calling card is still miracles. People were drawn to Jesus because of the miracles and people should be drawn to us for the same reason. It is our relationship with God and our closeness to Him that produces the fruit of miracles. It is the knowing that God's Spirit is in us and desperately wants to work through us to touch the people around us.

How To Prepare For Tough Times - May 1996
Right now every believer is in a battle. Are you prepared for it? We are not facing normal battles anymore but God has a plan for the times we are living in. God told Joshua to be bold and to be courageous. When the whole world is shaking courage is a command from God.

How To Get Out Of Depression - November 1997
Do you know you are called by God? Have you searched the Word to find your purpose from God? When you are called by God the enemy will try to get you into despair and away from your assignment. But "Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations..." Despite everything that was against him Abraham chose to hope in God. We have that same choice.

A Time To Pray And A Time To Command - September 1996
Many Christians are discouraged when they feel like God is not answering their prayers. But is God really not answering or are we missing something? There is a time to pray and a time to command. When Jesus encountered a problem He wasn't asking God what His will was. He already knew what God's will was from His time in prayer. Jesus was commanding the situation to line up with God's will.

The Seed of God In You - Christmas 1997
Planted on the inside of everyone who is born again is the incorruptible seed of God. Because of God's seed, we have the potential for everything that Jesus is in our Spirit man. This reality is difficult to grasp but will change your life forever.

Facing Giants - March 12, 1997
Are you facing the giants right in front of you? A message from Pastor Jack on March 12, 1997. When we are faithful with the little God has given us, it won't be long before we face a giant meant to take us, our family, and even our fellow countrymen out. When that moment comes, we can either listen to the voice of fear or courage.
