In essence, myotherapists help people in pain to move better and live their best life.

Today we are focusing on the relationship between exercise, movement and eating disorders and how this may present clinically with physiotherapist, Rebecca Gawler. In particular, we discuss how to assess, support and refer clients who exhibit signs and symptoms of a dysfunctional relationship with exercise and/or an eating disorder.Bec is based in Melbourne and provides compassionate, inclusive, weight-neutral and trauma informed care. Episode 44 MyoMatters - The history of OPC with James McQuie
In this episode, we have James McQuie, the General Manager of OPC here to talk to us. OPC are one of our proud partners for 2024 and we can’t wait to hear what James has in store for us today. James joined OPC Health or Orthotic & Prosthetic Centre as it was known, in 1992 as a Sales Consultant. OPC was both an Orthotic/Prosthetic clinic and a distribution business that had been established in 1985.James remained there until 2000 when he moved to be National Sales Manager for a company based in Sydney, still involved in Allied Health sales. In 2010 the owner of OPC Health approached him to return and so for the past 14 years he has been the GM at OPC. In the last four years they were sold to a German company OPED Ag, who already owned OAPL ( Orthopaedic Appliances) and in 2021 the two entities merged. OAPL is the clinical business with 16 O & P clinics around Australia and OPC is the distribution business with warehouses in Melb, Syd and Adelaide and 25 sales staff nationally. A far cry from the team of two he was part of in 1992.

Join host Tessa Verrier as she chats with research fellow Dr Daniel Harvie as she learns more about his innovative research work helping us better understand PAIN.Why Pain?What excited Daniel about researching pain?What does he hope his research will help us when managing and understanding pain?Dr Daniel Harvie is an NHMRC Early Career Research Fellow, in the area of persistent pain, currently working in the Hopkins Centre at Griffith University in the Musculoskeletal Health & Persistent Pain research group let by Professor Michel Coppieters. Daniel's early career has a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration to innovate technologies in response to, and in aid of, modern pain neuroscience. Daniel has collaborated with computer scientists to create virtual reality applications for research and therapy, and with engineers to create sensory training devices designed to test and retrain somatosensory function in the clinic. He has a combination of advanced clinical training and experience (B. Physio [hons], Masters of Musculoskeletal & Sports Physiotherapy), and research training (PhD, Body in Mind group, University of South Australia).
