Did Self-Help Strip the Soul Out of Your Search?
Text me questions or comments and include your email for a response. Before Tony Robbins walked on hot coals. Before Werner Erhard rented out hotel ballrooms. Before Napoleon Hill told you to think and grow rich — there was a 19th century spiritual movement that believed the mind could heal the body, that consciousness connected to something larger than the self. Then someone made one crucial edit.In this episode of Live Higher Reality, Dr. Lawrence De Rusha, Dr. John Waterhouse and Dr. Jay Willick trace the pipeline from New Thought — one of the most serious and genuinely transformative spiritual traditions in American history — to the $16 billion self-help industry it became. The original teachers built in a brake. Call it surrender. Call it grace. The idea that the self is not the final authority.Self-help removed the brake. And kept the engine running.Which means it can never arrive anywhere. It can only sell you the next tank of gas.We explore:What New Thought actually was — and why it's been misrepresentedThe teachers at its origin: Phineas Quimby, Emma Curtis Hopkins, Ernest HolmesHow Napoleon Hill secularized the tradition for the business marketThe pipeline from Mind Dynamics to EST to Landmark to the seminar industryAlexander Everett — the man nobody talks about who started it allWerner Erhard, Scientology, and the coercive architecture underneath the transformationWhat got stripped away — and why that stripping was enormously profitableThe difference between a participant in a larger consciousness and a sovereign creator of your realityWhy seminar graduates kept ending up in New Thought centersIf the original tradition asked you to surrender to something larger than yourself, and self-help asks you to become the most powerful version of yourself — those aren't the same teaching. They aren't even pointing in the same direction.🔔 SUBSCRIBE for new episodes exploring consciousness, spirituality, and science:https://www.youtube.com/@HigherRealityTVhttps://mysticlivingpress.substack.com🎙️ ABOUT YOUR HOSTS:Lawrence De Rusha is a philosopher of science turned consciousness explorer, author, and founder of Mystic Living Press. Am I the universe? Am I the earth? Am I this body? Am I Living A Dream?
Text me questions or comments and include your email for a response. In this episode, we explore what that "something" is — and we begin not with answers, but with questions.Am I the universe? Am I the earth? Am I this body? Most of us would say no. But why? Because there is something behind all of it — something that perceives the universe, the body, even your own thoughts. Each of these arises as an object of perception, separate from whatever is doing the perceiving. So the real question becomes: What are you, if not any of these things? You must be that which perceives. When we dream, we enter another world entirely — one that feels absolutely real until we wake. Simulation Theory suggests our waking universe may itself be a kind of simulation. So what if a dream is also a simulation? And here's where it gets fascinating — quantum physics has a theory...Support the show

Illusion of Limitations
Text me questions or comments and include your email for a response. The Illusion of LimitationsWhat if the walls holding you back were never really there? Most of us carry invisible boundaries we've never questioned — beliefs about what we can and can't do, who we are and aren't allowed to become. Some were handed to us by well-meaning parents or teachers. Others we built ourselves, brick by brick, from old disappointments and fears we stopped examining long ago.In this episode, we explore how these self-imposed constraints quietly shape every choice we make — and what becomes possible when we begin to see them for what they actually are: stories, not facts. We look at how societal expectations, past experiences, and internalized fears conspire to create a convincing but ultimately false picture of our potential. And we dig into the practical, transformative work of dismantling those mental barriers — not through wishful thinking, but through a genuine shift in how we relate to our own minds. If you've ever caught yourself saying "I could never…" or "that's just not me," this conversation is for you.In this episode, you'll explore:Why limitations feel so real — and what keeps them locked in placeThe difference between actual constraints and the stories we mistake for truthHow fear and past experience quietly narrow what we believe is possiblePractical ways to begin recognizing and releasing these hidden barriersThe role of mindset as a living, daily practice — not just a conceptWhether you're feeling stuck in a particular area of your life or simply sense there's something more waiting on the other side of what you currently believe about yourself, this episode offers a fresh way to look at the walls you've been living inside.Support the show

Is Consciousness in Your Skull?
Text me questions or comments and include your email for a response. We talk about consciousness as if it's something each of us carries around in our own private skull — my awareness, your awareness, separate and contained. But what if that's not how it works? In this episode of Live Higher Reality, Lawrence De Rusha and Dr. John Waterhouse explore the growing evidence that consciousness may be shared, interconnected, and far more collective than our individualist culture assumes. From Carl Jung's collective unconscious to Rupert Sheldrake's morphic fields, from the Global Consciousness Project's startling data to the everyday experience of knowing who's calling before you answer — something is connecting us beneath the surface of our separate lives. We explore:• Why the "consciousness in a skull" model may be fundamentally wrong• Carl Jung's collective unconscious and what he was actually pointing to• Rupert Sheldrake's morphic resonance — and why mainstream science resists it• The Global Consciousness Project and what happens when millions focus together• Telepathy, synchronicity, and the experiences we dismiss too quickly• What indigenous and contemplative traditions have always known about shared mind• The ethical implications of interconnected consciousness — what does it demand of us?If consciousness is collective, we're not as separate as we think. And that changes everything.🔔 SUBSCRIBE for new episodes exploring consciousness, spirituality, and science: / @higherrealitytv 🎙️ ABOUT YOUR HOSTS:Lawrence De Rusha is a quantum physicist turned consciousness explorer, author, and founder of Mystic Living Press. Text me questions or comments and include your email for a response.Consciousness is a complex and multifaceted concept that encompasses an individual's awareness of themselves and their surroundings, as well as their thoughts, perceptions, sensations, and feelings. It is often described as the state of being awake and aware of one's existence and the external world.Consciousness is a fundamental aspect of human experience, yet it remains one of the most challenging phenomena to understand scientifically. Near Death & Quantum Science
Text me questions or comments and include your email for a response. This blog post is the 2nd part of a series of three about near-death experiences. The first post is about what I went through. The other two are ways of looking at it are quantum physics and spirituality.Quantum Physics & NDEDeath and what happens to our consciousness afterward has fascinated humanity forever. Near-death experiences (NDEs) often involve profound experiences described by individuals, such as me, who have been on the brink of death, providing glimpses into a mysterious realm that lies beyond our physical existence. While science seeks to understand such phenomena, quantum physics offers tantalizing perspectives that attempt to shed light on these enigmatic occurrences. This article explores the intriguing relationship between NDEs and the fundamental principles of quantum physics, providing insights into the possibilities of an afterlife. Quantum World.Quantum physics is also known as quantum mechanics (the mathematics of quantum theories) and is a branch of physics that studies the behavior of particles at the smallest scales subatomic particles or string filaments. This field challenges our classical understanding of cause and effect and introduces concepts like wave-particle duality, entanglement, and superposition.Let's take a quick look at several concepts that are postulated to be involved in NDEs.It's Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity that has some interesting connections to near-death experiences and the afterlife. Einstein says that the NOW moment is no longer of fundamental importance. Because nothing can go faster than the speed of light. For example, When you witness something, the speed of light determines how quickly you perceive it. Sabina Hossenfielder, a quantum physicist, in her interview on the series Closer To The Truth, says that according to Einstein, the NOW contains all moments in the past, present, and future coexisting simultaneously. She explains, since time is relative, there is no way to distinguish one moment from another; as such, those who have been here before (existed before) continue to exist in this present moment.Of course, this is not my experience or most likely your experience. But does this mean that psychic mediums are actually speaking to those on the other side?Another WorldviewDr. Stuart Hameroff, Professor Emeritus at the Departments of Anesthesiology and Psychology and the Director of the Center of Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona, submits a quasi-religious theory.According to his concept, consciousness is a computer program for a quantum computer, the brain. He thinks that when you die, your consciousness still exists in the universe. This could explain near-death experiences. He proposes when microtubules (present in cytoplasm cells are polymers that provide structure and shape) lose their quantum state, the information within them is not destroyed. Instead, it merely leaves the body and returns to the cosmos.Hameroff says, “The quantum information within the microtubules is not destroyed, it can't be destroyed, it just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large.'If the patient is resuscitated, revived, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and the patient says, "I had a near death experience".'According to Hameroff: 'If they are not revived, and the patient dies, it's possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body, perhaps indefinitely, as a soul.Quantum Entanglement and NDEs:One of the most fascinating aspects of quantum physics is the phenomenon of entanglement, where two partSupport the show

Differences in Mystic Living
Text me questions or comments and include your email for a response. Mysticism is a spiritual, or philosophical belief and practice that involves experiencing a direct, personal, and intuitive connection with divinity, truth, or ultimate reality. As religion is the politics of spirituality, mysticism is often characterized by the pursuit of an intimate and transformative union with the divine or a higher power. Mystics may use various practices or techniques, such as meditation, contemplation, prayer, and rituals, to deepen their spiritual experiences and access deeper levels of consciousness or awareness. The mystical experience is typically described as beyond ordinary sensation and intellect, involving a sense of oneness, ecstasy, or ineffable knowledge. Mysticism is found in various religious traditions, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Sufism, but it can also be present in secular or non-religious contexts. Spiritual laws?
Text me questions or comments and include your email for a response. In this episode, we slightly change our focus to address the question of why rules or laws exist at different levels of being, from moral commandments to personal growth guidelines to spiritual principles. At certain levels of being, moral commandments or directives are important because they provide a framework for individuals to understand and navigate societal expectations and norms. Moral rules help establish a minimum standard of behavior that promotes cooperation, fairness, and respect towards others. They aim to prevent harm, ensure justice, and maintain social order.
