Special Edition: Emanuel Rose's Award Acceptance Speech at the West Coast Awards
🌟 Special Edition: Emanuel Rose's Award Acceptance Speech at the West Coast Awards 🌟 In this special edition of Nature Bound, join us as we celebrate Emanuel Rose's prestigious win at the West Coast Awards Ceremony for his enchanting children's book, "Wenaha Henry Secret of the Grouse." Watch Emanuel's heartfelt acceptance speech, where he shares the inspiration behind his work and his passion for connecting young readers with nature. What You'll Learn: Award Highlights: The significance of Emanuel's win and the impact of his book on young readers. Author's Journey: Emanuel's personal story and the experiences that shaped his writing. Book Insights: The themes and messages in "Wenaha Henry Secret of the Grouse" and its importance in promoting environmental stewardship. Emanuel Rose's Acceptance Speech: "Thank you so much. When I was 25, my dad passed away unexpectedly. And the only thing that could palliate that immediate wound was to get outside and spend time in wild places. I had to be by myself. Over time, the sharpness of that receded, and I've been able to travel the world, visit wilderness all over. I was in the very northeastern part of Oregon on the Wenaha River, having just finished a 15-mile hike on a turkey hunt. We hadn't seen any birds, and I was tired, sitting next to the river. There was a hawk spinning circles in the air against a backdrop of rock and moss, which looked like Klipsch, the kiss. In this blissed-out, tired state, I thought of my grandson, Henry, and this idea of Wenaha Henry, the red-tailed hawk, came to me. I wanted to write these stories for my grandkids to tease them into being in wild places, exploring what it means to be human without the din of culture, honking horns, and social media. This book, the third in the series, is about stillness. It teaches kids that being still and reflective has value, just like being in action does. It's a precursor to sitting, meditating, praying, or thinking about your life and what you need to do next. So, that's the story with Henry. Thanks for listening to me."
