Favoritism is a sin. No, it's not commonly thought of as a sin today, but is precisely what James tells us today. We should not play favorites anywhere - especially in the church. Join us as we see God's teaching about preferential treatment in the house of God.

Self-deception is a very real thing, even when it comes to the things of God. In our text, James gives us two warnings about self-deception and an example of what it looks like to truly live out our faith.

How would you describe your attitude and words? How would others describe them? Are you angry all the time? Are you quick to speak? Slow to hear? If so, you're not alone. Many people, even many Christians, live like this daily. But James tells us that we should live quite differently. Believers must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

Why do we sin? Where does that temptation come from? James tells us it comes from within. We sin when we are enticed by our own desires. Join us as we continue our series on James.

The conclusion of a message started a couple of weeks ago - we look at truths to hold on to when God doesn't do what we hoped He would.

God hears and answers prayer. But sometimes He doesn't act when on in the way we want Him to. In those times when God doesn't give us what we seek, especially in times of grief or loss, we must wrestle with some hard truths. The next couple of weeks, we will deal with some truths to hold on to when we are tempted to be disappointed with God.

As we start the new year, we will look again at Jesus' command to be the light of the world.

Either way, this parable teaches us, in a powerful way, the imminent danger the unredeemed soul stands in every single day; along with the solution to that danger - repentance.

The parable of the compassionate Samaritan is one of Jesus' most well-known and well-loved stories. It has much to teach us about loving our neighbor as ourselves.

We all know people who have lived in the "far country", far away from the Father. Maybe we have been that person. Just like in today's parable, if that person, if you, will come back to God, He will welcome you with open arms.

Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost - that is each and every one of us. He persistently pursues us, and when the lost is found, there is rejoicing in Heaven!

Today, we look at one of Jesus' more unpopular parables - the Laborers in the Vineyard. It is quite unpopular because the landowner does not give some laborers what they think they rightfully have coming to them. Join us as we study what this teaches us today.

We don't know when Jesus will return. When He does, He will require His people to give an account for how they have used and managed what He has entrusted to them. Therefore, we should be faithful as we wait for His return.

Who will go to Heaven? That is one of the most important questions anyone can answer. Some believe they will go there be default or because of who their parents/grandparents were. However, Jesus tells us in today's parable who will be part of God's Kingdom - whose who accept His invitation to come in.

In this, one of Jesus' most difficult teachings, He shows us that we who are forgiven by God should forgive others as we have been forgiven.
