You are what you see - Audio

Hey family, most of us know the Parable of the Good Samaritan, but what if we've missed Jesus's main point? This Sunday we'll look at Luke 10:25-37 and discover that this familiar story is about more than helping others. Through a conversation with a religious expert, Jesus reveals a powerful truth: What we see is often determined by who we are. Join us in air-conditioned comfort Sunday at 10 a.m. Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. as well, so bring any visitors you may have ages 5-12! We meet at 360 Schermerhorn St. in downtown Brooklyn. --Edwin

A story of hope and struggle - Audio

story of struggle and hope Hi Family! Life has a way of knocking the wind out of us. Sometimes it's a loss we didn't see coming. Sometimes it's a door that closes unexpectedly. Sometimes it's simply the weight of carrying more than we think we can bear. Yet I've learned that some of God's greatest work happens in the seasons we would never choose for ourselves. This Sunday, Pastor Chris will share a timely message about how God meets us in our struggles, strengthens us through life's challenges, and builds a hope that can withstand even the hardest seasons. We will also celebrate a very special baptism as someone publicly declares their faith in Jesus Christ and takes their next step in following Him. There is always something powerful about witnessing a life transformed by the grace of God. If you've been discouraged, weary, questioning, or simply trying to hold it all together, I believe this service will encourage your heart and remind you that God is still at work—even when you can't see it. We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St. Bring a friend, bring a family member, and come expectant. God may have exactly what you need. --Edwin

Celebrate Fathers Day with us! - Audio

Hey family, this Sunday is Fathers Day, when we get the opportunity to celebrate the ultimate Father in our lives. For those of us who have earthly fathers that we struggle with, we look to the heavenly Father to be comforted. We also look to Him to teach us how to father the children in our lives. In either circumstance, we will find comfort, direction, and joy. Join us at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St. Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. as well. Bring your family! --Edwin

Hey family--In a world flooded with opinions, headlines, hot takes, “my truth,” and endless noise… how do we know what’s real anymore? Kingdom Prayers - Audio

Kingdom Prayer Hey family, we each have people we love in our lives--spouses, children, relatives, friends--who we know would benefit greatly from a relationship with Jesus. But we don't know how to introduce them. Or we don't know how we can help them experience the shame-ending, guilt-freeing, ever-present love of Christ. Many of us know the regret of wishing we had shared the gospel with someone. This Sunday we're going to talk about how we can help to lead others to Christ. So please join us! We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St., and kids 4-12 attend Kids' Church at the same time. I look forward to seeing you there. --Edwin ANNOUNCEMENT: A New Life in Christ class begins this Sunday after service for three weeks. Gratitude List - Audio

Hey family, have you ever created a gratitude list? It's a list of all the things you are grateful for at any given moment. On a beautiful spring day, it's easy to do. We are grateful for sunshine, flowers, being able to go outside for a walk, the promise of summer coming. But even on gray and chilly days, God gives us plenty to be grateful for. The fact that he woke us up this morning. That we have clothing on our backs. That he's given us a church family who's waiting to see us tomorrow. Please join us at 360 Schermerhorn St. at 10 a.m. Sunday. Children ages 5-12 are welcome to our Kids' Church, which also starts at 10. I look forward to seeing you! --Edwin A New Life in Christ class--Starts Sunday, May 24, after service. Leads to baptism and membership. See Pastor Chris to sign up.

You Don't have to walk this alone - Audio

You don't have to walk this alone. Hey family, what if church wasn’t just a service, but a place of real connection? What if needs were noticed? What if prayer was normal? What if people stayed after the service because relationships actually mattered? So many of us are surrounded by people yet still long to be seen, heard, and understood. The good news is that God’s design for the church was never intended to be a weekly event; it was always meant to be a community. This Sunday, Pastor Chris will speak honestly about loneliness and the kind of church God designed from the very beginning. If you have been feeling disconnected, overlooked, or unseen, we invite you to join us. We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St., and Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. as well. --Edwin ANNOUNCEMENTS: Palm Sunday, March 28, 10 a.m. Good Friday, April 3--Doors open 5:30 p.m., service 6 p.m., dinner to follow Easter Sunday, April 5, 10 a.m.

I Can't Do It On MY Own - Audio

Hey family, this Sunday we'll be looking at the powerful truth that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. The Apostle Paul writes that it's possible to have passion and zeal for God, yet still miss the righteousness that only God can provide. We'll explore the danger of trying to establish our own righteousness...and the good news that salvation is not something we achieve through our own efforts. Our speaker will be Rob Lambert, and I hope to see you with us at 360 Schermerhorn, 10 a.m. on Sunday! Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. as well.--Edwin IMPORTANT: Take public transportation if at all possible to avoid the Brooklyn Half Marathon, which will snarl car traffic in our vicinity.

    Romantic relationships Matter - Audio

Your romantic relationships matter--plus Daylight Savings Time Hey family, someone once said that one of the key ways to invite heaven into your life is to marry the right person, and one of the key ways to invite hell into your life is to marry the wrong one. The speaker wasn't using "heaven" and "hell" in a theological sense, but nevertheless they were getting across a powerful point. Being with the wrong person is painful, and not knowing how to navigate relational dynamics can be really painful. Last week we talked about what the Bible says about being a wife. This week we're going to talk to the men and ask them to man up. We have some great instruction for the men about being better husbands--and for the women who listen in, it will help in being better wives. Bring a friend! We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St. Kids' Church begins at 10 a.m. as well. Announcements * Daylight Savings Time begins tomorrow! Don't forget to move your clocks an hour later before you go to bed tonight.

    Church Stinks - Audio

Hey family, many of us stopped going to church when we were younger because of that very perception--church folks stink. And in many cases, the church deserves it. We've been dysfunctional or we've hurt each other. And as a result, many of us have just recently started to come around again. In our current series in the Book of Colossians, we're learning how the new identity we gain as part of the family of Christ affects everything in our lives. In the next few weeks we're going to talk about what it means to relate to our spouses, our kids, our work, our friends as part of our new identity. You don't want to miss it. (If you do miss a service, catch up on our YouTube channel. Here's the link.) We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St. Children's Church for kids ages 4-12 meets at 10 a.m. as well. --Edwin Important announcement: There will be an important congregational meeting immediately after service on Sunday, March 1. If you care about the future of this church, please plan to join us on that day. Thank you!

    Pulpit Swap - Audio

Hey family, every now and again, when churches work together, they have an opportunity to be able to influence each other and help each other grow in the kingdom of God. That's been happening with our church, and tomorrow morning it's happening in an interesting way. We're having a pulpit swap. Pulpit swap is when a pastor comes from another church and I go to their church and they preach in our church and I preach in their church, and we hope that all the people are blessed as a result. So this Sunday we want to welcome David Lee, pastor of First Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn. We're excited to have him at our church, and I'm excited to go preach at his church. Please come! Bring and friend and hear the gospel! We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn in downtown Brooklyn. Kids' church starts at 10 a.m. as well for children ages 4-12. --Edwin

What every healthy relationship needs - Audio

What every healthy relationship needs Hey family, there's something that every healthy relationship needs--that if it doesn't have, everything crumbles and falls apart. If this component doesn't exist in your relationship, you can know that you are either on the road to breakup, or in for a really long and painful journey. What is this component? Forgiveness. This week we're going to talk about what it means to forgive in the family of God, and how that overflows and translates into our relationships. No matter what happens, we're going to need to be forgiven, we're going to need to forgive. Let's learn how to do that together. Bring your family, bring a friend, bring your dog! (Well, maybe not your dog.) We meet at 10 a.m. Sundays at 360 Schermerhorn St. Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. as well for children 4-12. People who need people - Audio

Hey family, there's a famous song that goes, "People who need people are the luckiest people in the world." Barbra Streisand reached #1 on the Billboard chart with those lyrics, and the song became a cultural phenomenon. And Barbra was right. We all need other people. The problem is that when we come into Christian community, we bring with us our own biases and struggles, family issues, and all of that. How can we get along better with our spouses, our family, our church family? Coming this Sunday, we're going to talk about the importance of community and how the Bible instructs us to get along. We meet at 10 am at 360 Schermerhorn St.--bring your kids and grandkids! Children's Church starts at 10 a.m. as well. And if you missed last week's message, here's a link. Sons and Daughters of the Most High - Audio

Hey family, perhaps you've heard one of those wonderful fairy tales where a peasant girl finds out that she's actually the princess of the kingdom. The job of her caregivers is to teach her to walk like a princess, speak like a princess, act like a princess in every way. It's just the same when we're called by the King and adopted into the family of God. In this new family God gives us his Spirit and new life and forgiveness of sins and then he trains us and teaches us and encourages us to be who we are: sons and daughters of the Most High God. This week we're going to talk about how this powerful truth affects every area of our lives. I hope to see you Sunday. We meet at 360 Schermerhorn St. in downtown Brooklyn. Baptism service - Audio

Hey family, this Sunday is our final service of 2025. Pastor Chris will share a powerful and deeply personal message from 2 Corinthians 5:1–5—a passage that speaks to loss, longing, and the hope of something more. In a world that feels increasingly fragile, this message reminds us that life is temporary, but God’s promises are not. Whether you’re full of faith, full of questions, or somewhere in between, this is a Sunday you won’t want to miss. We will also celebrate a baptism! A powerful picture of grace, new life, and the hope that anchors us as we step into a new year together. Invite a friend. Kids' Church for children ages 5-12 meets at 10 am also. --Edwin

Jesus is the reason - Audio

Hey family, this is the beautiful Christmas season, where we get to celebrate the fact that God came to earth in human flesh. But if we're not careful, we'll be distracted by the man in the red hat and the big beard, we'll get caught up in buying gifts and having to pay for them later and all the other materialism that has come to surround Christmas day. This week, join us to celebrate what Christmas *really* means. We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St. in downtown Brooklyn. And don't forget--never miss a Sunday message again! We have a new YouTube channel. Here's the link. Like, subscribe, and spend time during the week listening to sermons you may have missed. See you tomorrow! --Edwin Announcements: Christmas service will be Sunday, Dec. 21.
