story of struggle and hope Hi Family! Life has a way of knocking the wind out of us. Sometimes it's a loss we didn't see coming. Sometimes it's a door that closes unexpectedly. Sometimes it's simply the weight of carrying more than we think we can bear. Yet I've learned that some of God's greatest work happens in the seasons we would never choose for ourselves. This Sunday, Pastor Chris will share a timely message about how God meets us in our struggles, strengthens us through life's challenges, and builds a hope that can withstand even the hardest seasons. We'll explore the danger of trying to establish our own righteousness...and the good news that salvation is not something we achieve through our own efforts. Barbra Streisand reached #1 on the Billboard chart with those lyrics, and the song became a cultural phenomenon. And Barbra was right. We all need other people. The problem is that when we come into Christian community, we bring with us our own biases and struggles, family issues, and all of that. How can we get along better with our spouses, our family, our church family? Coming this Sunday, we're going to talk about the importance of community and how the Bible instructs us to get along. The job of her caregivers is to teach her to walk like a princess, speak like a princess, act like a princess in every way. It's just the same when we're called by the King and adopted into the family of God. In this new family God gives us his Spirit and new life and forgiveness of sins and then he trains us and teaches us and encourages us to be who we are: sons and daughters of the Most High God.       Hey family, Christmas is right around the corner. People can experience the holidays differently. Some of us through the lens of loss, and others through the lens of hope. And many of us, a little mixture of both. Either way, you want to come to the joyful Christmas service we have planned for you. Kids ages 5-12 will have their own celebration, with a special message, games and crafts. We meet at 10 a.m., 360 Schermerhorn St. In addition, there is an important meeting after service that all members should attend. here are so many things to be thankful for as we walk in Christ. So many blessings, the joy and the love that he gives even in the midst of difficult times. This Sunday before Thanksgiving we're going to be discussing the security that we found in Christ and seeing how that shapes the rest of our lives--our relationships, the way we view ourselves, and certainly the way we view God. Hey family, it's the time of year when our church has special opportunities to share God's love with our church neighbors. Our annual Thanksgiving feast will be held on Thursday, Nov. 27 and we need volunteers! If you would like to help, please attend a special meeting after service this week in the side room next to the sanctuary. Our speaker on Sunday will be John Fils-Aime of Central Baptist Church, one of our favorite guest pastors.
