In that muddy Jordan water, Jesus did not just go under water. He was announcing his trajectory, toward your grave, into your death, and back out again with you in his arms. Death is behind you. Life is in front of you. Water drowns, but Christ resuscitates. Consider yourself dead to sin. Consider yourself alive to God. 

Christ reigns over death

We have a faithful God who has named himself Witness of our faithfulness and over our divisions, calling us into the harder, truer work of community.We rest not in unity for its own sake, but in a desire to honor his faithfulness, whether it brings conflict or unity.
