Productivity hack: Find where God is working and join Him

When we get closer to God, we also want to know his will for OUR lives. We ask him for a detailed roadmap that puts us at the center of the universe. But when we ask the wrong question, we get the wrong answer. The proper question is, What is God's will? Once we know God's will, we can adjust our lives to Him. In other words, what is it God is purposing to accomplish where I am? Jesus modeled this way of being in John 5:17 and throughout his life. Following this pattern might be the difference between an insanely productive adventure and a life of hard work with little harvest.

  4. 4

What should I do when God's plans are vague?

When we're in charge of our time, we start thinking of it differently. When you get your first job, you tie your time to money. When you look into business, you'll hear about buying back your time and leveraging your time.

  5. 3

Are you demanding a detailed plan from God?

If you follow Jesus one day at a time, you will always be at the center of God's will for your life. "I am the way, the truth, and the life," Jesus says in John 14:6. This truth has a big impact on how we lead our days. Do we demand God to tell us exactly what to do, when to do it, how to do it ahead of time? Do we demand guaranteed success before taking the first step? Do we fill our calendars to the brim and leave no room to be still with him?Blackaby says that "I have found that when I release my way to God, then I immediately respond to everything He tells me each day. He gives me plenty to do to fill every day with meaning and purpose."

  6. 2

How impatience sabotages productivity (Saul's case study)

In 1 Samuel 13, we see King Saul fail an important test. He was tasked with waiting for Samuel to offer a sacrifice to God before battle. But he didn't have the patience or faith to do so. Instead, he stepped outside of his role and did the sacrifice himself. This cost him the kingdom: "For then the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not continue."Reflections on how we can learn from Saul's mistake in our daily lives as we plan and act.
