Back in September, we embarked on a 90-day spiritual journey as a church family—a journey marked by growth, challenge, and transformation. Right now, we find ourselves in the middle of that journey—day 57 of 90 to be exact.The middle of any journey can be the hardest place to be. You’re no longer at the starting line, and the finish line can feel so far away. The initial excitement has faded, and the celebration of victory seems distant. But here’s the truth I want to share: the middle is where God does His deepest work. It’s the miracle zone.Think about the greatest moments in Scripture—Jesus calming the storm in the middle of the sea, Israel walking through the Red Sea on dry ground, and the fiery furnace where the fourth man appeared to turn fire into freedom. These miracles all happened in the middle of struggle, not at the beginning or the end.So, what do we do when we find ourselves in the middle? We stand firm. We put on the full armor of God—truth, righteousness, faith, the Word of God—and we fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. He’s the one who started this journey and will faithfully bring it to completion. If you’re weary or stretched thin, remember God is enlarging your capacity and preparing to pour out something greater. So lift your head, square your shoulders, and stand your ground. The miracle is in motion.

The world says, “Be true to yourself,” but Scripture calls us to something radically different: to be transformed, to die to ourselves daily, and to live a life consecrated to God. While the culture embraces compromise, God calls His children to holiness—consecration that stands out, that refuses to blend in with a broken world.

I’m grateful to be with you as we dive deep into a topic that is foundational yet often misunderstood—the reality of sin, the necessity of repentance, and the profound grace of Jesus Christ. This message is part of a series called This We Believe, where we unpack essential truths of the Christian faith to ignite fresh revelation and passion for God’s Word.Sin entered the world through deception in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were living in perfect harmony with God until the serpent, a symbol of deception, questioned God’s Word. “Did God really say…?” This subtle question led to doubt, disobedience, and sin. Sin is lawlessness. It breaks God’s law. Jesus’ purpose was not just to forgive sin but to completely remove it—to destroy the devil’s work. When we truly understand this, it changes everything. Sin is enemy territory. If we sit comfortably in that territory, allowing sin to rule our lives, we are at war with God’s purpose for us.There is a dangerous complacency in the church today. We go through the motions of faith but fail to pursue holiness. Hebrews 12:1 urges us to “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.” Sin entangles quickly and easily. We must guard ourselves, avoiding places and situations that lead to temptation. The enemy’s tactics are subtle. Sin often blends into our lives like hidden eggs on a tree, unnoticed until it’s too late. We all have sinful desires, but the Holy Spirit helps us resist and provides a way out. This is a daily, moment-by-moment choice. It’s not automatic. It requires humility, prayer, and a heart that longs to please God.Repentance is often misunderstood as simply being sorry for sin. But the Greek word metanoia means a complete change of mind—a 180-degree turn. It’s not about perfection, because none of us can be perfect. That’s why we need justification through Jesus. True repentance involves changing your heart and desires to align with God’s will. It means no longer living for yourself but living to please God. It’s a posture of gratitude for what He has done, not fear or guilt. This warning is serious, but it’s also rooted in love. God wants us to understand the gravity of sin and the urgency of repentance.

New birth refers to the transformation and renewal that happens when we are united with Christ.

Human beings possess an innate longing for fulfillment that worldly possessions, achievements, and relationships cannot satisfy. This deep need encompasses a search for truth, identity, community, love, forgiveness, and hope. True and lasting fulfillment can only be found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who alone meets the soul’s deepest needs, forgives sin, restores brokenness, and grants eternal life. Jesus is both fully God and fully man, having experienced human struggles and temptations without sin, enabling Him to empathize with human weaknesses. He lived a real historical life, was crucified, buried, resurrected, and ascended to heaven, where He intercedes on behalf of believers. Calling on the powerful name of Jesus brings authority, victory over life’s challenges, and access to God’s presence. Believers are called to embrace their identity as children of God, live in the power of Jesus’ name, and serve others with humility, following His example of servanthood. The essence of Christianity is not merely doctrine or religion but a living relationship with Jesus Christ, the true Savior and source of life.

The Word brings life, light, and direction—it exposes sin, corrects error, and guides believers into righteousness.True faith is built on complete trust and obedience to Scripture. It is not enough to merely read or hear the Word; it must be believed, lived, and allowed to transform the heart and mind. Selective belief or compromise with cultural values weakens spiritual integrity. The Word must be approached with reverence and applied with conviction, shaping every decision and relationship. A life grounded in Scripture stands firm through confusion and adversity, bearing witness to the enduring power and truth of God’s Word.

God’s presence is essential for life—just as vital as the air we breathe. It is not optional but foundational to true growth, transformation, and freedom. When a person spends time with God, something changes within them that begins to show outwardly. His presence leaves a residue—a glow that reflects His glory and transforms character from the inside out. This transformation cannot be manufactured by human effort; it happens through stillness, silence, and communion with Him.Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom, and this freedom produces boldness and authority that empower believers to act and speak with confidence. Time in God’s presence is not about quantity but quality—it is about allowing God to shape, refine, and fill the heart. Living under His presence brings protection from harm and peace in the midst of life’s uncertainty. Those who dwell in His presence carry His radiance wherever they go.God desires that His people live sensitive to the Holy Spirit and practice His presence daily. He works slowly and purposefully, like a marinade that soaks deep into what it touches, preparing it for something greater. In His presence, there is growth, glory, and a lasting glow that continually transforms life from one degree of glory to another.
