ometimes God gives us warnings in life. But warnings are not bad—they display God's graciousness. He loves us enough to warn us. In this sermon, we see Jesus providing a warning to the Pharisees. Many are in danger of the unpardonable sin. It's not a one-time act but a posture. Many of the Pharisees have this posture, and they are spreading that posture via a lie. We dig into Matthew 12, where Jesus heals a blind and mute man. Instead of recognizing God's power at work, the Pharisees let their unmet expectations turn into a toxic rumor. Because Jesus doesn't fit their rigid religious mold, they claim His miracles actually come from Satan.As we walk through the text, we see how Jesus dismantles their argument by showing how illogical it is. A kingdom divided against itself simply cannot stand. But the heart of His message is a warning about the danger of pushing God away. For anyone who has ever worried they’ve accidentally committed this "unpardonable sin," know that you are NOT guilty of it. It's not a single incident. As I point out, it's a constant rejection of the Spirit's testimony. I point out that Pharaoh was an example of this. It’s a deliberate, continuous posture of shutting out the Holy Spirit’s voice until a person’s heart becomes completely hardened. At that point, you don't want God's forgiveness. You reject him and his testimony.Ultimately, this sermon gives you a glimpse into how we challenge ourselves to look inward. Jesus reminds us that our words naturally reveal what is hidden inside our hearts. While that standard can feel intimidating, we close the message by focusing on the incredible hope of the gospel. God doesn't issue warnings to condemn us - He issues them to invite us back. When we stop making excuses, drop our defenses, and align our hearts with Him, we find a God whose forgiveness is vast enough to make us completely new.

We have lost our rest. But God's intent was for all people to enjoy and live in his rest and reign. The fall brought restlessness. From there on, humans tried to find rest but it eluded them because of sin. So Christ came to achieve rest and call people to come to him for that rest. Rest won't come by simple digital detox or practical methods. True rest begins when we come to God and receive his rest. Our rest is rooted in Him.True rest isn't about legalism or just sitting still. Rest is a state of being. The purpose is to replenish and connect us to God. As we rest, we can then extend that rest to the world around us.

Just as Jesus called his twelve disciples—echoing the twelve tribes of Israel—He continues to call ordinary people to participate in His restorative mission. The act of "going" is not just for the benefit of those who hear the message; it is a primary way God transforms our own hearts. Stepping out of our comfort zones, like Bilbo Baggins leaving his quiet home, forces us to rely on God's strength rather than our own, shaping us into more courageous and faithful followers.The core of our message is the announcement that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. This is not a political or nationalistic kingdom, but the active reign and rule of God that brings healing to the broken, sight to the blind, and freedom to the oppressed. As we move into our schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods, we are called to be conduits of this Kingdom. We don't need to be perfectly equipped or have all the answers; we simply need to carry the message of the Gospel, which has the power to change lives just as it changed ours.Finally, Jesus instructs us to live in a state of radical reliance on Him. By letting go of our need for self-sufficiency and human approval, we find a new kind of boldness. When we depend on God’s provision and timing, we experience His presence in more tangible ways—as if His love is flowing directly through us to others. Though the task of sharing our faith may feel daunting in an age of anxiety and loneliness, we can rest in the truth that the Spirit goes with us.
