Prayer was never meant to be a password whispered to a distant God. In Luke 11, Jesus invites us beyond formula and into a relationship, where ordinary needs, deepest fears, and unanswered questions all have a place. Here prayer is marked by a surprising boldness rooted in who is on the other side of the door.

Jesus says that “one thing is necessary”: “the good portion.” Yes, but what is it?

We are called to obedience to God, but we need more than obedience. In Luke 10:25-37, which includes one of Jesus’ best-known parables, we get it.

Jesus sends us out into the world to share his love to others, and though our expectations need to be set rightly, there is only joy at the end of the mission.

Jesus promises us that following him won’t be easy. But is it worth it? Luke 9:51-62 opens us to enormous possibilities.

There's a scoreboard most of us keep that no one else can see. It’s always running. Who's ahead, who's behind, where we land. We measure it with titles, schools, feeds, paychecks. Twelve men once had that argument out loud, about which of them was the greatest. Jesus was on his way to a cross, he answered them with a child.

The glory of Jesus is revealed on the mountain. The need for Jesus is revealed in the valley. As the disciples confront a surprising failure, we see how moments of weakness can become unexpected invitations to trust Jesus more deeply.

We all long for mountaintop moments with God—times when his presence feels especially real. But what are those moments actually for? And what do we do when they seem elusive? In Luke 9, one mountaintop encounter between Jesus and his disciples reminds us that whether we find ourselves on the mountain, in the valley, or somewhere in between, Jesus is inviting us to see him more clearly and follow him more faithfully.

Jesus tells us how to “save” ourselves. How do we do it? The way is counterintuitive and paradoxical. It’s also revolutionary.

Jesus does not merely invite us to follow him; he also sends us out on mission. Unfortunately, he often sends us out before we feel prepared. Fortunately, he promises to provide everything that we will need along the way. Are you ready to follow Jesus on mission?

Waiting is hard enough when we know what's coming. But what happens when there are no answers, no timeline, and the suffering keeps getting worse? How do we bring our hardships to God with courage and continue trusting Him in the midst of the unknown?

Who do you know that is too far gone—too far gone to receive God’s grace, respond to his call, or be restored by his love? In Luke 8:26-39, we meet a Savior who crosses every boundary to reach the people everyone else has given up on, and he invites us to do the same.

It’s easy to trust Jesus when the seas are calm. But what happens when the storm hits and your boat starts to sink? Jesus uses the storms we face to reveal where our faith is -- and to remind us that he was in control all along.

What’s really going on in our world? What should we do about it? Jesus answers these two questions in two parables in which he reveals secrets of the kingdom of God.

Jesus has something to say to us about the way we see people. And in order to see people rightly, we have to see ourselves rightly–and Jesus rightly.

People are often willing to follow Jesus—as long as he behaves the way they expect him to. In Luke 7:18–35, Jesus confronts our assumptions and asks whether we will trust him on his terms rather than our own.

In Luke 7:1-17, Jesus shows us more of who he is - not merely a man, but one with great power and authority to heal from afar and bring life into death. Do we recognize Jesus as the one who can do the impossible? Do we accept the invitation to marvel at his compassion and power?

There are resume virtues: those you bring to the marketplace. Then there are eulogy virtues: those are talked about at your funeral—kindness, bravery, honesty, compassion, and the like. Which virtues are more important? And if we want to develop eulogy virtues, how do we do so?

Everyone’s got an opinion. Everyone’s got a verdict. We live in a world that turns comment sections into courtrooms and strangers into defendants. But what happens when the camera turns and it’s your life on the screen? This Sunday, we sit with the most misquoted words Jesus ever said: "Judge not.”
