As I entered college I was in full addiction and spiraling out of control. Until one night me and my drug dealer had a talk about God. She simply was sharing her story with me about her connection with God. After our conversation I went to the bathroom and fell to my knees asking God to save my life. Meredith Elliot is a teacher and poet from East Ham London and the creator and host of open mic event Speak Easy London. She always wanted to write as a child, but her family guided her towards a 'proper' job. Still following her passions for words, she ended up running a newspaper in University and then becoming a journalist. Through her words, either as a Journalist, then a teacher now a Poet and Performer, she has transformed her pain into grace and kindness and is now working as a Play Therapist and Bereavement specialist for children who have lost parents. Just recently, I was lucky enough to be able to safely travel to Romania, the country I was born - for the first time in 2 years. When I got off the plane, the sun was out at midday, sky so blue with a few fluffy cloud and the smell of the earth filling the air was so familiar, that it immediately invaded my chest and with no intention to cry, my eyes welled up.
