    Post Restoration Podcast Returns!

Adam and Phil have returned to their semi-regular discussions of ideas within and without Churches of Christ. In this episode, we discuss some of thoughts based on the Christian Chronicle article about Churches of Christ in Decline, found here http://www.christianchronicle.org/article2158685~Church_in_America_marked_by_decline. Episode 12: Judicial vs. Relational Readings of Scripture Part 2

This is continuing the conversation began last week about a judicial reading of Scripture versus a relational reading. So basically, Part 2. Thanks again for all the comments last week. We look forward to hearing from all of you some more.

Episode 11: Judicial vs. Relational Readings of Scripture

We're back! In this returning episode of Post Restorationist Radio, Adam and Phil are joined by Matt Wilson in Phil's basement. We begin a discussion of a judicial vs. relational reading of Scripture, inspired by John York, teaching minister at Woodmont Hills and Bible professor at Lipscomb.

    Episode 10: Evangelism

In this episode, Adam and Phil discuss the ideas of evangelism, from the idea of convincing someone to an afterlife to living like Jesus and letting God evangelize through us. The blog that we refer to is Bobby Valentine's and the specific post is here. It is well worth the read.

    Episode 9: Maintenance vs. Mission

Adam and I discuss the tension between a church being in maintenance mode versus mission mode. It gets into what church should be about and how members should be a part of it.

  6. 9

Episode 8: Why People Leave the Churches of Christ

Once again, we apologize for the delay and hope it was worth it. In this episode, Adam and Phil talk about why people leave the Churches of Christ, some of the stories we've heard, and some of the implications for that. We hope its enlightening for people inside the Restoration Movement and/or Churches of Christ and sensitve to those who have left. Thanks again for listening.

  7. 8

    Episode 7: Interpretation

First the news: Adam and I are moving this to a bi-weekly recording. Thanks for patience in waiting for this one. In this one, we discuss interpreting Scripture, starting with the traditional Church of Christ method of Command, Example, and Necessary Inference, and then exploring other ideas and methods of interpretation. We hope you get something out of it and leave us some feedback.

  8. 7

    Episode 6: Post-Restorationist Youth Ministry

Phil is out of town, so I asked my friend Matt Wilson to join me for a conversation on Youth Ministry in a Post-Restorationist context. We discuss the "controlling ideas" of our ministries, and how that branches out into what we actually do. We also discuss changing culture and how that impacts youth ministry. Give it a listen and then give us some feedback. Adam

    Episode 5: Christian Unity

Did you know that this year marks the 100th anniversary since the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ were officially recognized as separate groups? Did you know that in 2006 there is a movement afoot to unite the two groups? Adam and Phil discuss this idea and what it means for Churches of Christ.

  10. 5

Episode 4: Salvation and the Kingdom

Adam and Phil discuss salvation and the purpose of it, which leads into some thinking on the Kingdom of God. Adam has done some thinking on this previously in a position paper he wrote for his graduate class, called What is Salvation?, if you'd like to read more of his thoughts. Phil is not taking a graduate class, so he has no reason to write such things.

    Episode 3: Fellowship

Fellowship is the topic of this episode. Adam and Phil talk about what fellowship means in a postrestorationist context, specifically how "progressive" and "traditional" Churches/churches of Christ deal with each other. In the course of the episode, Randy Harris, Romans 14, and church autonomy come up. This episode was sparked by a comment left two weeks ago and this article by Joe Beam on the Grace Centered website: "What Is Happening to Churches of Christ?"

  12. 3

    Episode 2: Community and Belonging

In this episode, Adam and Phil discuss the ideas about community and belonging to a community. We also get into the idea of individual congregational membership.

  13. 2

    Episode 1: Post Restoration Radio

This is our first podcast. It's a little rough, but we'll try to get better.
