Thomas is not rejected and turned away for wanting to investigate the claim of the resurrection of Christ. In fact, we will see that his persistent and honest pursuit of truth is answered with grace.

Whether you hate the cross or love the cross, ignorance abounds. Do you have a true understanding of the cross of Jesus Christ? Because though it is foolishness to those who are perishing, it is the power of God and wisdom of God for salvation.

Jesus is the sovereign Lord over demons and disease, over the spiritual and physical. To the world that is perishing, there is only one hope, and one Savior—Jesus Christ, the Son of God, come in the flesh! Let us worship Him and serve Him.

In this famous account of Jesus calling His first disciples, Mark directs our focus to the central matter: Jesus' call to discipleship and what that call demands. The first disciples were lowly fishermen and unimpressive in the eyes of the world. God chose foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise. He uses weak men and women to do great things! God calls us and makes us fishers of men, catching sinners living in darkness, and winning precious souls to Jesus Christ!

The sermon text comes from 1 Thessalonians 5:25-28.Readers may be tempted to rush through these closing words of Paul's letter, assuming that nothing important remains to be said. But this final section contains valuable insights and applications for every believer. In these final four verses of 1 Thessalonians, what we see is Paul's vision for true Christian fellowship. We are, as it were, peering into Pastor Paul's heart for the shared life of the saints and deep communion in the church.

The slowness of our sanctification or the lack of progress in holiness, is one of the most painful disappointments that Christians can face. But Paul reminds us that God Himself is the source of their sanctification and He will not stop His work until there is no more corruption of sin within us. Therefore, Christians can fight the good fight with certain hope that God will bring us to perfection, for His own pleasure and glory.

While every believer is indwelt by the Spirit of God, we can still resist the Holy Spirit's work and influence in our lives. Paul commands believers not to quench the Spirit, and put out the fire within us. How, then, can we be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ in a wicked and adulteress generation, yielding to the Spirit of God, that we might live to the glory of God?

One might expect that the arrival of the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords, would be accompanied by a display of great strength that draws worldwide attention! Yet, He came as helpless little babe, born into poverty, disgrace, and shame. In order to bring His people out of shame, He was born into shame. Christ Jesus has come to redeem you from the shame of this fallen world and your fallen nature, and to bring you to eternal glory.

The sermon text comes from 1 Timothy 1:12-16.You will never truly know a Merry Christmas unless you are gripped by the sinfulness of your sins, and even more so, gripped by the One who came to redeem the most vile of sinners. The Apostle Paul tells us that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—including himself, the worst of sinners. In Paul's conversion and redemption, we see an example of God's amazing grace. Be thoroughly convinced of this: Christ is the great Savior for great sinners. We are unworthy. But Christ is worthy, and sufficient for us.

But we are discontent, we are empty, we are bored, because we were made for greatness, which this fallen world cannot provide. The Word of God teaches that believers are called and saved unto a life of abounding joy, and now believers must live it out. To "rejoice always" is a biblical command. Pastor David Ryu explains how every Christian has a moral obligation to be happy. He points out how the modern church often separates joy from happiness. However, why would anyone want to follow Jesus if He cannot supply true happiness?

But it was the right worship of God. Calvin was far more concerned with the purity of worship than the five points of Calvinism. So, what is Reformed Worship or the Regulative Principle of Worship?

He warns us that even if we enjoy an abundance of blessings now, it does not mean that God is pleased with us, nor should we be assured of His continued favor.
