Preaching at Trinity

This passage gives us the clearest statement of purpose concerning the freedom we have in Christ. Christ set us free so that we can love others in a magnificent display of God’s grace. Our liberty, used to show love, is the fulfillment of the law.

Understanding the current freedom we have in Christ is paramount to our success as Christians. We are free from religious law. This freedom ensures us of our confidence in Christ. Be encouraged by this passage that calls us to liberty.

In Galatians 4, the Apostle Paul confronts a dangerous misunderstanding among believers who were tempted to return to the security of religious rules and legal systems. This passage challenges us to examine how we see ourselves before God.

Paul is beginning to lay out the great explanation of the Gospel, which stands on faith alone in Christ alone. It is because of God’s grace that sinners are drawn to Him, redeemed by Him, and transformed by Him. Paramount to that explanation is the purpose of the law.

Mankind struggles with the pull of formal religion, depending upon its own effort to gain favor with God or to maintain it. However, Paul addresses this issue head-on with truth and love, which challenges the readers to evaluate the fundamentals of their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Look to Jesus and the suffering he endured to and on the cross for our salvation.

The death of Jesus Christ was expected to end the people’s interest in His message, but it only drove the interest higher when He rose from the dead, issuing His decree of victory over sin and death. What wicked men and Satan thought would overthrow God, only completed His plan for salvation to the world.

Things are not what they seem in this passage. A large crowd celebrated Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, but His reaction to them is unexpected and revealing of what is going on in many people's hearts.

This chapter of Galatians is both doctrinal and practical and will help us in our daily walk as we present the truth to others in word and in deed. Be encouraged and challenged as we study the manner in which we hold to the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Luke 10 is a summary of Jesus sending out disciples with the message of the Kingdom, but it also includes challenges relevant to our discipleship as we seek to serve the Lord.

As Jesus prepares to go to Jerusalem to lay down His life, He continues to invest in people and prepare them to receive His gift of salvation. In this passage, there is a clear call for missions and the sacrifice we must be willing to make to be Jesus’ disciple.

Galatians is a book about freedom. The freedom we have in Christ is often unrealized or acted upon, yet Christ calls us to freedom from sin, the flesh, and the stranglehold of religious systems and traditions. Galatians will call us to carefully examine our hold to the Gospel and our willingness to let the Gospel work in our own lives.

All three synoptic Gospels cover the account of the father and his demon-possessed son. Luke, however, gives us great detail into the inner conversation of Jesus and His disciples. The truths we learn about faith and unbelief should encourage and challenge us as we walk with the Lord.

In this closing section of Jude, we will be challenged to walk faithfully with the Lord and resist the apostacy that attacks the church and our faith.

The Transfiguration could be a perplexing event in the life of Christ, if not for the clear instruction from God. The disciples needed this event, and so do we.

There is a call for Christ’s disciples to be on guard against false teaching and false believers, but we must be able to recognize. Jude offers a range of descriptors to help us recognize the practices of apostates. Join us as we unpack his vivid word pictures and examples of apostates.

In this passage, Luke uses two key events to draw out the truth of the sufficiency of Christ. The disciples will be given incredible knowledge, but the question remains: what will they do with it? We have an opportunity to respond to the same truth.

Jude is a short book, but it is packed with incredible truth. Join us as we begin this study by learning about Jude and his heart for the readers.

As we close out our study of 1 John, we are given some final words of encouragement to walk with Christ and thus be free from the restraints of sin. Paul challenges us one last time to walk in grace and display that same grace to other believers.

Throughout the ages, the question of who Jesus is has been debated, ignored, ridiculed, but most importantly, found. Jesus promises that those who genuinely seek Him will find Him. This witness of Jesus is clear, and if you are a follower of Jesus, then this witness is in YOU.

At the conclusion of a series of busy days, Jesus is still focused on people and their needs. Jesus cares about the physical needs of people, but it is the spiritual needs that He is most concerned with. Always tender and compassionate, we should mirror His service in our own lives.

This simple passage contains a profound truth within its five short verses. The statement is one of power that every Christian needs to understand. It involves our faith, our obedience, and our love.

Jesus had several times during His public ministry that were prolonged and busy. The passage we will study brings us to the conclusion of one of those busy times. Yet, in a time of prolonged activity, we still find Jesus in absolute control in displaying both His humanity and His divinity.

Understanding the love of God is pivotal for His followers. To fail to possess God’s love means we cannot love as God loves. To possess God’s love means the world around us can see His transformative power. Be challenged as we study this passage to look and act more like God, who loves us.

Jesus Christ gave many parables concerning our task of being evangelistic to the world around us. We are called to be light, properly reflecting His grace to a dark and sinful world.

It doesn’t matter what the world thinks of you. It matters what the world thinks of Christ. Is this a statement that you can identify with and live out? This passage will challenge us about our identity and where it is placed.

The story of the sinful woman and her repentance offers us both encouragement and condemnation. However, this account should leave us longing for a deeper relationship with Christ. Enjoy this study as we relate it to our own lives, answering the question, “How does your love for God and others reveal how much you have been forgiven?"

Jesus is the light of the world. The world is dark and full of sin, but Jesus Christ came into the world to remove people from darkness and give them a new life. However, what will we do with our new life? Will we share the light?

The life of Jesus threatened many people. We know that Herod and the religious leaders of Jesus’ day were terrified that He would undermine their authority. His very existence threatened their way of life. Does the same thing happen today?

We all have expectations of how God will act, what He will be to and for us. John the Baptist was no different. At the end of his life, he had some doubts about Christ. This is a challenging passage, but if we deal with it honestly, it should encourage us to press forward alongside Christ.

Often, Christians get confused about the purposes of the Old and New Testaments. Yet a deeper study of the Old Testament reveals a clear storyline of grace and redemption that continues into the New Testament. The Spark of Promise in the Old Testament is fully revealed in the New Testament.
