Today's episode expands on an insight that has been with me for a while: Our bodies are the vessels / channels for the prayer -- for all that we want to be made manifest in this physical realm.  This is related to childbirth, as well as birthing anything else in our lives--a business, a creative project, a loving relationship, a new career, and more.    If you enjoyed this episode, please share it with another beloved you think might be lifted up by it.    With Love, Nat   ----   More About Me: I am a Resilience Coach, Birth Doula, and Emotional Healing Guide, walking alongside women and femmes like you who've experienced womb-related loss, such as infertility, a pregnancy loss, infant loss, traumatic pregnancy or childbirth, or missed opportunity to become pregnant. Ep 61: Art as a Portal for Authentic Joy & Healing with Abi Ighodaro

Today's episode is with my dear sister, Abi Ighodaro, who's based in Ireland. Abi is an artist drawn to nature, ritual, and the quiet language of the body. She joins today's conversation as part of an ongoing exploration of her relationship with the body—especially through movement—as a site of memory and learning, and offers these reflections simply as part of a shared journey among sisters. Together we explore: Reclaiming art/creative expression from any elitism, perfectionism or locked gates, and experiencing it as a primordial expression of our soul Exploring art as a portal for connecting with the body and healing Recommendations for those looking to connect or reconnect with their innate creativity Honoring the body at any stage and age And more! Ep 60: Practicing Grace in Mothering & Self-Mothering with Brigid Harris

I had the pleasure of sitting with Brigid Harris, a beloved in our Birth Warrior community whom I first connected with four years ago. We've stayed in touch as penpals of sorts and had the opportunity to do some deep healing work together.  It was a gift to receive this offering of Brigid's story and hearing her share openly about the tender places she continues to navigate as she calls in her baby. In our conversation, we touch on: Noticing patterns that no longer support wellbeing and intentionally shifting them The ways that her son, Ronan, teaches her to love herself more deeply The ways that she honors her mother, Bernadette, who's in the Ancestral realm And the ongoing practice of mothering and self-mothering with grace   Please join me in sending love and appreciation to Brigid, and to all those in our community who continue to navigate those tender places of love, life, and pregnancy after loss. Today's interview with Dr. Naha Pandya pulls the curtain away so we can see the huge gaps in both information and care as it relates to the postpartum period. Ep 57: Four-Year Follow-Up with Donette Subron (Pregnancies, Losses, Motherhood & The Stories In-Between)

Donette first joined us for an interview in 2020 (Ep 13: Pregnancy & Loss in a Foreign Country). Today, she's sharing how her journey has unfolded over the past four years. This includes three pregnancies (including being pregnant with twins) and curveball after curveball with unexpected losses, medical support, invasive procedures, the birth of a preemie, and life in the NICU.   I marvel at what it sometimes takes to bring these precious little ones into the world.  💖   It was inspiring to hear the layers of support Donette called on during her journey, how the last few years have shaped her, and ways that she practiced self-advocacy when working with her medical team. She shared that a previous episode I did with Tia DeShazor on Birthing in Community (Ep 41) emboldened her to speak up to have her needs met. Yess! Ep 56: The Stories These Scars Hold

We're taught to erase our scars, that they get in the way of our beauty and perfection. What's been coming up for me that led to this episode is the wisdom that scars are the physical manifestation of the lives we've lived. They are a part of the stories our bodies hold. They can be evidence of both our pain and growth.  I wonder if as souls we ever held the intention to not go through pain. Or was the intention to have the storied life we're now experiencing that has the potential to lead to deep levels of growth? What are the stories we get to tell? What are the stories that our scars now tell? This is a "free-flow" episode, creating room for the thoughts and insights that have been emerging. I hope you find it inspiring or expansive 💖.    Some Resources I Mention: Movie: The Woman King Book: Journey of Souls by Michael Newton Briefly, Perfectly Human by Alua Arthur ----- More About Me: I am a Resilience Coach, Birth Doula, and Emotional Healing Guide, walking alongside women and femmes like you who've experienced womb-related loss, such as infertility, a pregnancy loss, infant loss, traumatic pregnancy or childbirth, or missed opportunity to become pregnant. Ep 55: We're Here to Birth Many Things!

Our bodies are portals for creation. We have the ability to birth many, many expressions of life. But when our mainstream culture tells us that our worthiness is tied into birthing children, it creates a disconnection within ourselves if we accept that lie.    Today's episode is an Instagram Live recording where I speak to:  Staying in connection with ourselves and our sense of worthiness regardless of where we are on the pregnancy journey Birthing occurring on an energetic / spiritual level  When it becomes problematic to make a business or project "your baby" Removing blockages or resistance in the creative/birthing process and  A live Q&A on what reclaiming your womb, your yes, and your no might look like   ----- More About Me: I am a Resilience Coach, Birth Doula, and Emotional Healing Guide, walking alongside women and femmes like you who've experienced womb-related loss, such as infertility, a pregnancy loss, infant loss, traumatic pregnancy or childbirth, or missed opportunity to become pregnant. Ep 54: The Podcast Is Changing

The podcast is changing, beloved. In beautiful ways though. I've been feeling called to expandind into other topics that speak to the whole of us...or the very least, more of us. These topics include our connection to ourselves, our connection to the earth, the healing of our families and intimate relationships, the systems in our society that lead to pain and stress in our lives, and more.  Some form of evolution is always happening. And as it's happening within me, I'm wanting the work or inspiration I offer to reflect that expansion as well. Ep 53: You Don't Have to Smile

You don't have to smile. You don't.  I've been sitting with what it would be like to have a world where we can each show up with all the emotions that are present with us—showing up with the grief, the regret, the fear, the frustration—without feeling the need to "fix" yourself or those emotions before being in the room again.  This episode explores the cultural patterns that train us into smiling for the camera even when we don't feel like it and dreams up a new way of being with the emotions that are authentic in each moment.   If you enjoy today's episode, please share the love with someone who might find it useful as well.    ----- More About Me: I am a Resilience Coach, Birth Doula, and Emotional Healing Guide, walking alongside women and femmes like you who've experienced womb-related loss, such as infertility, a pregnancy loss, infant loss, or a traumatic pregnancy. Ep 51: No Version of Motherhood is Perfect

Today's episode is about permission and grace. If you're a mom/parent to angel babies, I encourage you to really give yourself the permission to do whatever supports your energy around this time. I also share how I respond when I'm asked if I'm a mother.  And if you're currently parenting or caretaking kiddos who are physically here, I shed light on the lie that we need to strive to be perfect mothers or parents. Perfection doesn't exist. It doesn't. Being able to surrender to the messiness, the madness, the beauty, the creativity, the unpredictability…of life and parenting offers a kind of liberation that ends up being resourcing our body and being,  instead of depleting.    If you enjoy today's episode, please share it with someone who might find it useful as well.    ----- More About Me: I'm a Resilience Coach, Embodiment Healing Guide, Angel Mama, and Birth Doula. Ep 50: Being Gentle With Yourself

Today's episode is a prayer, an invitation to soften, to be gentle with yourself.  There's sometimes the belief–even if unconscious–that softening might transform someone into becoming weak or diminish their ability to be resilient. I've observed and experienced the opposite: that it's ignoring the body's invitation to soften that eventually leads to shut down and disconnection. The softening, the exhale…creates the opening.  I invite you to receive today's invitation if it resonates.   ----- More About Me: I'm a Resilience Coach, Embodiment Healing Guide, Angel Mama, and Birth Doula. Ep 49: The Imperfect Healing Journey

I used to think that my healing journey needed to look a certain way and have a definite outcome. That eventually--no matter how long it took--I needed to rise out of the ashes like a phoenix then tell the world about it.  Sitting with the realness of my unpredictable, and sometimes messy healing journey has taught me that there is no model for what healing should look like. You are an original. Your journey will be a unique one. And by releasing the expectations around who you ought to become and by when that needs to happen, perhaps that creates room for some unexpected, imperfect beauty to unfold.   In this episode, I share about: The ways in which our society creates "models" for who or what we should be How those models impact our healing journey The liberation that becomes possible through being present with your own journey Accessing the unique wisdom that wants to emerge through you   ----- More About Me: I'm a Resilience Coach, Embodiment Healing Guide, Angel Mama, and Birth Doula. Ep 48: Suffering In Silence

Feeling as though you're suffering in silence is perhaps one of the most common experiences after going through a loss. Silence and solitude might be exactly what you need in the earlier stages of your healing journey. And at some point, the silence or isolation may no longer support your healing.    In this episode, I share: When silence and solitude are in service of our healing and  When silence and solitude can lead to our decline Some simple tips for bringing "movement" and release to your body and being\ And here are the Grief playlists I referenced: Good Grief 1_Let Me Be 2_Finding Peace 3_Rise Again ----- More About Me: I'm a Resilience Coach, Embodiment Healing Guide, Angel Mama, and Birth Doula. Ep 47: The Dangers of the Spiritual Bypass

The "Spiritual Bypass" is often intended to be a reminder that we're spiritual beings having a human experience. It can also be used to dismiss or diminish our very real human experiences, which leads to us holding on to hurt instead of processing and releasing it.    In this episode, I share: How the Spiritual Bypass showed up in my experience  How it can be harmful if it's showing up in yours  Why healing also needs to occur through the body And exploring a sense of purpose after a loss  ----- More About Me: I'm a Resilience Coach, Embodiment Healing Guide, Angel Mama, and Birth Doula. Ep 43: Healing Relationships with Compassionate Communication

I consider myself a life-long learner, so it means a lot when I say that Compassionate Communication or Nonviolent Communication (NVC) has been one of the single most important practices I've learned. As my teacher, Steve Torma, puts it, Compassionate Communication isn't just a tool for communication but a shift in consciousness.    I've referred Compassionate Communication to clients of mine because it becomes a game-changer for ANY conversation or relationship. And today, we have the pleasure of hearing Steve Torma share more about Compassionate Communication and how it can benefit you and your relationships.  We discuss:  What Compassionate Communication or NVC is and some of its many benefits What violence looks like in conversations (it's not just physical!) How the "Dominator Culture" we're socialized in shows up in our self-talk and relationships  Why men will likely grieve differently from women The patterns/imbalances that may become prevalent in relationships between men and women How Compassionate Communication can help create inner peace, as well as bring empathy and healing to relationships    Steve Torma's Bio:  Steve (he/him) was born and raised on a family farm in Ashtabula, Ohio, and is a 25-year member of Earthaven Ecovillage. His ancestors are Hungarian and French Canadian.   Steve co-founded an intentional community in Ohio in 1980, where he lived until joining Earthaven Ecovillage in 1996. At Earthaven, he co-founded a thriving neighborhood, was president for three years, and has taught Nonviolent Communication for twelve years. In addition to his passion for community, Steve co-managed a natural foods co-op for 10 years, ran his own traveling bookstore business for over 20 years, and now teaches Nonviolent Communication and other relationship and community building skills through The REAL Center, which he co-founded in 2009.    As a lifelong peace, justice, and ecology educator and activist with over 40 years of community living, Steve has sought to integrate personal and social transformation in his own life, in the communities where he lives, and in the larger society. His passion for integral living and thinking has led him to study and experiment with a wide range of spiritualities, psychological systems, and social theories as they relate to creating a more just and sustainable world.   Steve has taught Nonviolent Communication for a variety of intentional communities, organizations, and regional gatherings, including Celo Community, The Mountain Retreat Center, Firefly Gathering, Southeast Permaculture Gathering, Organic Growers School, Kinnection Campout, LovEvolution Gathering, Compassion Camp, and many others.   Steve's Website: http://therealcenter.org/ Seve's Email: [email protected]     The Resources We Reference: Book: The Chalice & The Blade by Riane Eisler: https://rianeeisler.com/the-chalice-and-the-blade-our-history-our-future/ Books: Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenburg (and related books through PuddleDancer Press): https://www.nonviolentcommunication.com/shop/  The Mankind Project: https://mankindproject.org/ NVC Asheville: https://www.nvcasheville.com/   Earthaven Ecovillage: https://www.earthaven.org/ —   If you're curious as to what support might look like for you on your journey, here are some next steps to explore: 1. Ep 41: Birth Story - Birthing in Community with Tia DeShazor

I had the pleasure of working with Tia during her pregnancy as her "space-holder," resource-connector, co-strategist, and emotional healing guide. I've been excited to share our follow-up conversation because Tia's story is such a powerful example of what's possible when pregnancy and birth are supported by community—family, friends, and professionals who are equally competent as they are caring.    It's a model that doesn't simply center the pregnant / birthing person, but also makes them the director of their experience, and at the same time, allows them to feel safe enough, held enough so that they can surrender to the process.    The magic that unfolded in Tia's birth is typically reserved for fantasies. But it was real and it came after a fair amount of self-advocacy and intentionality.    I also want to acknowledge that when you've gone through a loss or fertility challenges, it may feel safer to go with the hospital care we've learned to accept as the norm. But if you've been finding that unsatisfactory, I hope Tia's story will spark ideas for the alternatives you have access to regardless of who you choose to be on your birthing team and where you choose to birth.   ------   Tia and I discuss: - Challenges she experienced receiving care within the hospital model - The ways she advocated for herself amidst push-back - Choosing a midwife and homebirth - Feeling supported by "prayers, friends, and angels" as she welcomed her baby earth-side   Links & Resources We Reference: - Bronx (Re)Birth & Progress: www.instagram.com/bxrebirthcollective  - Midwife Nubia-Earth Martin: https://birthfromtheearth.vpweb.com/  - Birth Doula, Jazzmin Brown: https://www.instagram.com/birthingfarah/  Tia's Bio: Tia DeShazor works in the performing arts as an actor, writer of musicals, and career coach for artists. She's also the co-founder of BOLD, an organization for Black Women in the Performing Arts. Originally from Detroit, she currently lives in Harlem with her husband CK Edwards and baby Lexington. Ep 38: Embodied Healing with Thérèse Cator

I thoroughly enjoyed today's soulful conversation with Thérèse Cator. Thérèse is one of my teachers and mentors, and her work has guided me in walking the path of my own calling with more clarity and confidence…in being able to do the work beneath the work. To know her and share space with her is a gift.      In this episode, we discuss: - What led to her doing the powerful work she's currently doing - What Embodied Healing is - The impact of colonialism and trauma on our bodies and how to reclaim our healing - Finding balance and rhythm as an entrepreneur, mom, wife, leader… - Honoring the soul's calling - And SO MUCH MORE! More About Thérèse:    Thérèse Cator (she/her/hers) is the founder of Embodied Black Girl, an Embodiment Practitioner, Decolonial Leadership Coach and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in-training. Ep 37: Why Self-Love Is So Hard

Self-love is hard for most people. It isn't a practice that's encouraged in our culture. Instead, we're continually fed messaging about what's wrong with us and what we need to change to reach a certain standard.    Now, when you've gone through a loss or infertility diagnosis, self-love feels even more out of reach. And yet, it is THE single most important pathway to our healing and liberation.    This episode explores the ways in which we've been taught to disconnect ourselves from our own love, how this pattern shows up in different areas of our lives, including intimate relationships, and how to reclaim our connection with ourselves as a source of love and self-compassion.    **If today's episode resonates with you, please share it with someone else you think might benefit from it. Your message just might be what they needed to receive today.    And If you'd like some support on your healing or pregnancy journey, here are ways I can help: 1. Ep 36: A New Look at the New Year

Welcome to 2022, beloved. How are you arriving?   Is it with excitement? Some anxiety? With rules about what you need to do to make this the best year yet?    We tend to feel that entering the New Year is like entering a magical portal where everything needs to now be new, better, and different. But growth and healing don't operate that way. They move with a rhythm and cycle that may be different from the flip of a calendar from December  to January. Knowing this removes the unnecessary pressure that impacts your well-being.    In this episode, I'll help you to: Unpack some of complex emotions that show up at the end of the year and the beginning of another Understand how these emotions impact your goals for the new year and overall well-being And explore practices that may better support your own rhythm so that you can walk this earth with a greater sense of freedom, ease, and grace   **If this episode resonates with you, drop me a line at [email protected] to let me know.      And If you'd like some support on your healing or pregnancy journey, here are ways I can help: 1. Ep 34: Acupuncture for Fertility & Pregnancy

Acupuncture is one of the healing modalities that support fertility and a healthy pregnancy. In this episode, I chat with Acupuncturist and owner of Sano Acupuncture, Joannie Campuzano-Cepeda, about why acupuncture is beneficial, what happens in a session, and how it can support overall health.    Here's more about Joannie and how to get in touch with her:    Joannie's Bio: Joannie Campuzano is an acupuncturist, herbalist, and wellness coach specializing in the treatment of fertility, mood disorders, and pain. She is also certified in facial rejuvenation acupuncture. Ep 33: Why People Don't Heal

Through working with clients for the past several years, and through doing my own healing work for even longer, this is one of the observations I've made: We sometimes get in the way of our own healing.   It isn't that we decide that we won't heal. It's that we unconsciously choose to stay where we are in the pain. It sounds irrational, but the reason behind it merits compassion.    The greatest gift I can offer you is the gift of your freedom. And I do so through making you aware of what influences you in the background, so that you liberate yourself to make conscious decisions instead.    In this episode, I share: What happens in the emotional body / subconscious that leads people to block or self-sabotage their own healing, so that even when we say we want something, our actions don't support our words  Ways that healing can be less daunting An upcoming group course that will support you in deepening your healing for the next few months with other Birth Warriors     If you're ready to step into your healing, here are ways in which I can support you: 1. Ep 32: What Might Be Missing in Your Fertility Care

I share a lot about the limitations of our conventional healthcare model. And so, what an absolute pleasure it was to sit and chat with Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Monique Mazza, and learn more about what our care should actually entail.  In this episode, we discuss: What Naturopathic Medicine is and how it's different from Allopathic Medicine (or what I refer to as the "conventional medicine" in the episode) What might be happening in the body that could lead to infertility or loss What testing you should ensure you're having done to get to the root cause of those imbalances And more! Dr Mazza's Bio: Dr. Mazza is a licensed Naturopathic physician with over 15 years of clinical experience. She began her medical career as an emergency medical technician for a volunteer fire department in New York. Ep 31: How Sexual Trauma Shows Up in Pregnancy & Childbirth

Going through loss or infertility is difficult on its own. And having a history of sexual trauma adds even more layers of triggers and emotions to work through. Because these triggers and emotions intensify during pregnancy and childbirth, I want you to be aware of them. When they're no longer operating in the background, you get to take your power back!    In this episode, I walk you through: What triggers and emotions may show up in pregnancy, while you're giving birth, and in hospital settings in general  What you can do to overcome triggers/heavy emotions and feel safer within your body Forms of support you can enlist to increase the chances of your birth being a healing experience (vs a retraumatizing one)   **Please share this episode with someone who you think might benefit from it. Ep 29: Mystical, Magical Experiences I've Had with My Angel Babies

I believe that we are spiritual beings expressed in physical bodies. It means that even after our babies have made their transition out of their physical bodies, they still exist in spirit.    A few months ago, I did a podcast episode reading excerpts from "Memories of Heaven" by Dr. Wayne Dyer (Ep 24). The book features stories from parents whose little ones had memories of being in heaven before they came here on Earth, including children who had made their transition prior due to a pregnancy loss, abortion, etc. I know, it's wild! But there were too many accounts from parents all over the world to deny that babies are also spiritual beings who aren't limited by a physical death. And even after they make their transition, our connection with them remains.    In this episode, I share some of the beautiful and magical experiences I've had with my little ones. I hope this encourages you to keep the connection open with your baby and still feel their love through the many ways they might send you reminders that they're still here.    With lots of love,  Natalee And here are some ways to get additional support while you're on your journey: Get on the Birth Warrior Mailing List to receive inspiration and resources for your emotional healing. Ep 28: Risk Factors Linked to Complications in Pregnancy & Childbirth

There is no separation between the mind and body. What impacts our thoughts and emotions also impacts what shows up in the body.     As a Birth Doula, I also have the privilege of supporting birthing people as they bring their babies earthside. What I've learned is that our subconscious fears seem to come to a climax in the midst of childbirth because it feels as though there is so much at stake. In today's episode, I share scientific research showing the link between unhealed emotions, limiting beliefs about the body, and how these can lead to complications during pregnancy and childbirth.     My desire for you is to have an awareness of what's happening in your thoughts and emotions, and the impact it can have on you or your baby. And moving to the next level, to have ALL the support you want or need during pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. Knowledge is power. And what an empowered birthing person you'll be with what I share in this week's episode!   And here are some ways to get additional support while you're on your journey: 1. Today's episode is a loving heart-to-heart. Listen to it when you have space to process and work through some questions that may potentially be challenging. Key among them: What's at the root of your desire for having children?   This isn't to discourage you from wanting children. Children are beautiful. However, as you're on this journey, I want you to be aware of who you are in the midst of it all.    Who or what might be influencing your desire? What's at your heart of hearts? And what's being impacted by something else that will still need healing even after your little one/s arrive.    It's your awareness that leads to your liberation, healing, and empowerment. Wherever you are on your pregnancy journey, my desire is for you to be able to feel whole. I want you to be good!   Take your time with this one. Ep 26: Honoring Our Partners

Just as heavy emotions or painful memories might come up for you on Mother's Day and other special occasions, the same might be the case for your partner this Fathers Day (and other special days). What I've noticed with fathers though, is that they tend to prioritize your needs over theirs. Ep 25: Tasha's Birth Warrior Journey

In this episode, I had the pleasure of connecting with Tasha of @tashastea_ on Instagram and learning about her Birth Warrior Journey through an early-stage pregnancy loss, infertility, and the loss of her rainbow twins.    What inspires me about Tasha's story is her courage to hold space for it all—the love and the pain, the joy and the grief—and her desire to inspire other Birth Warriors to keep going on their journey.    Hopefully this conversation offers a splash of inspiration for your own path ahead and the reminder that you are never alone. So much of what Tasha shares may resonate with you. Ep 24: For You This Mother's Day & Every Day

If having challenges on the pregnancy journey such as a loss or infertility diagnosis has left you feeling as though you're not a mother, I'm here to tell you that you 100% are.  We've been using the wrong definition for motherhood. Our children become our children before they're here with us on Earth and our children are still our children even after they've transitioned back to Spirit.    In this episode, I share: 1. Stories from parents all over the world whose children remember choosing them as parents before they were born (fascinating!) 2. The framework that I use for motherhood as a result of this wisdom 3. A beautiful healing experience I had with my babies 4. Ways to practice self-care and create boundaries around Mother's Day and other days that may be triggering   ---   If you're looking to get to the next phase of your Birth Warrior Journey, here are ways that I can support you: 1. Ep 22: Human Design, Cosmic Birth, & Magic with Andrea Gomez

Today's episode was such a juicy, joyful conversation with my cosmic friend, Andrea Gomez. Andrea describes herself as a "creator of things that infuse our life with magic" and our conversation was absolutely magical—exploring what it means to be energetic beings, splashing our feet into the ocean of Human Design, and connecting heart-to-heart on how we've each grown to be more authentic versions of ourselves.    And we of course spoke about birthwork! I shared the beauty and magic of the birthing experience as I see it, what led to me becoming a coach, and something I've never shared with you before about all the things I am considering when I'm working with a client on their healing/pregnancy journey.    Find Andrea and her magical world on her website, www.nourishingwitch.com or on Instagram @nourishingwitch. I highly recommend exploring a Human Design reading on her website: https://www.nourishingwitch.com/humandesignreadings. She's also birthing a beautiful Tarot card deck that embodies so much of the magic we discussed in this episode.    And if you'd like support on your pregnancy or healing journey, see below for all the ways you can reach me:   1. In today's episode, I had the pleasure of chatting with one of the members our Birth Warrior Community on Facebook, Mary Kristine Porter-Chorley. Mary is Mama to her son, Joseph, who lives in the sky, and an adorable cat named Gizmo.   She's also the co-founder of "Love from O," a baby-loss charity providing support for men, non birthing partners & families. (Shout-out to Shannen Read, another beautiful Birth Warrior based in the U.K. who cofounded Love from O with Mary).    To connect with Mary, find her on IG (@thechorleyedit) or on her blog (https://thechorleyedit.blogspot.com). Ep 20: Honoring The Black Birthing Experience

The Black birthing experience in the United States has such deep and rich history. Some aspects are painful and others beautiful, but all of it laced with resistance, a constant fight to reclaim the sacredness of birth, to liberate our bodies, and secure a safer future for our children and families.  In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Nicole JeanBaptiste, who's a mother, Birthworker, Birth Advocate, and Oral Historian. So much of Nicole's work involves honoring and uplifting the Black birthing experience. She shared with us, the contributions of Black women to the field of Gynecology, the origins of midwifery in the United States, the imbalances in our medical system that bring harm to birthing people, and ways we can move towards a safer birthing experience.    >> To Stay in Touch with Nicole, find her here on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sese_doula // Learn More about Nicole on her website: https://www.sesedoulaservices.com >> Donate to the Bronx Rebirth & Progress Collective to help them to further their work in supporting Birthing people and families in the Bronx: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/bxrebirth // Follow Them on IG: https://www.instagram.com/bxrebirthcollective  RESOURCES FOR FURTHER EXPLORATION: >> Dr Deirdre Cooper Owens, who teaches and writes extensively about the experiments done on Black slave women to advance the field of Gynecology. Ep 19: How Not Honoring Your Baby Might Be Affecting You

As a Birth Warrior you know that there are certain dates that are especially hard to work through: the anniversary of your baby's estimated due date, the anniversary of the day they entered the world, and the anniversary of the day they left.    My son's birthday was on February 14th and boy were my emotions high as I moved closer to the date! In the first year after his transition, I remember being so uncertain about what to do that I ended up doing nothing at all. I hated the gaping hole I felt afterwards, and so this year, I decided that I would absolutely do something to honor him. And I did. What I was left with was a sense of peace and even joyfulness. (FYI...I noticed I mistakenly said that Feb 14 was his "Angel-versary" during the podcast. It was actually in March when he made his transition. ie, when he became an angel. He was born on Feb 14)   This week's podcast is an exploration into the MANY ways that not doing something to honor your baby ends up affecting you...and in actually, affecting all the spaces that require your presence. I walk you through what happens in your mind and body why that's the case, and really accessible ways that you can honor your baby and have that experience contribute to your ongoing healing.  ---   If you're looking to get to the next phase of your Birth Warrior Journey, here are ways that I can support you:   1. Ep 18: Pregnancy & The Permission to Be Loved

How do you love and care for yourself when you're pregnant or think you might be pregnant? And how differently do you treat yourself or ask others to treat you when you're not pregnant?    We've entered into the month dedicated to love and while romantic love is fab(!), our first episode looks at the differences in how we love ourselves (love as an action) and how we ask others to love us when we're pregnant vs. when we're not. And on a deeper level, how we might be holding love and care from ourselves when we're not in the "pregnant club."    We're taught that we deserve love based on conditions—our ability to give something in return, ie. a baby. And so, when it's "just us," we either deprioritize our own care or may not feel that we have the same right to ask for what we need as we would if we were pregnant.    In this episode, I share how pregnancy inherently gives a greater permission to be loved and cared for and the differences you may experience after a loss. I share examples from my own pregnancy journey and some that might have snuck into yours without your knowing.   The truth of the matter is that you are worthy of love—pregnant or not, TTC or not, ready to try again or not. And if you do nothing else this month, allow yourself to be loved just because you exist.    ---   If you're looking to get to the next phase of your Birth Warrior Journey, here are ways that I can support you:   1.
