Punk Stories: UK

Original interviews conducted in 2016 with Punks giving their account of their experiences of the Punk scene. I am now collecting new stories from 2024. Enjoy these original interviews, I have shared them as podcasts so that others further afield could enjoy these down to earth interviews where the storytellers had the opportunity to tell their punk story. They are street level experiences from real punks sharing a snapshot of their varying lives.

    Memories of Peartree, The Starting Gate and The Joint

    In this podcast you will hear Lisa Hosking, Mikki Mu, Jasmine Storm and Debra Mathews talk about their memories of Peartree Bridge. Peartree Bridge Youth Centre came to be the place to go for live music, DJ's and the club The Joint. A compilation album featuring local bands 'A Warped Sense of Human was recorded there. Once it was all over the derelict building was vandalised and then used by skateboarders who brought ramps into the gym downstairs.

    Memories of the Rock Against Racism March and Concert 1978, Clash, X-Ray Spex, Steel Pulse, Tom Robinson Band. On the 30th of April 2024 it will be the 46th anniversary of the Rock Against Racism march and concert. The march congregated at Trafalgar Square then marched to Victoria Park with bands and entertainment. Here are four short interviews with people who were there on the day.  I share my story of the day and how I got there, Glenn O’halloran tells how he was already in touch with the Rock Against Racism team before the event, Richard Arridge shares his memories, I came across him whilst looking for photographs of the event and discovered his and he kindly allowed me to share them.  And last but not least Paul Welford (AKA Twiz).
