Punk Till I Die

The PTID guys are once again joined El Presidente, Gerry LaFemina, president of Savage Mountain Punk Arts. They chat about the lineup, and how Savage Mountain Punk Fest came together. They also talk about Gerry's band, The Downstrokes, and their new album and recent UK tour. The PTID guys celebrate another hundred episodes by shining some light on a couple guys who help behind the scenes. Jake and Sticks are Facebook group admins, spiritual advisors, and occasionally voices of reason. They're also both musicians, cancer survivors and all around great guys. They in turn shine a light on some deserving, possibly underrated bands. Tom and Neil celebrate America's 250th birthday the only way they know how, by talking a bunch of trash and spinning bunch of killer punk songs. It's unrepentent colonizer versus ungrateful colonist! The PTID guys, along with Matt Swisher, take some time to wallow in the in the massive success that was the 5th annual Bonus Pints/Punk Till I Die show in beautiful downtown Logansport, Indiana. Teenage Bottlerocket, Sludgeworth and The Strains all killed. Local opener Scared Sacred was great too, and the guys are briefly joined by their frontman Derek. Dan (Vapid), Brian (Vermin) and Adam White join the PTID guys to talk about how the Sludgeworth reunion came about, and the making of the new album Second Time Around. They also get into the early days of the band, as Tom tries to fight the urge to pepper them with Screeching Weasel questions.  And of course they talk up the big Logansport shindig on June 27th with Teenage Bottlerocket, The Strains and Scared Sacred. The PTID guys caught up with Ray (Carlisle) Rocket while he was on tour with SACK in Texas. Ray fights through phone problems and the blazing heat to update them on the world of TBR. They get into the band's new label, the writing process, and overcoming geographic issues. There's also talk about the big free Punk Till I Die/Bonus Pints show in Logansport on June 27th! The PTID guys catch up with Paul and Greta from the Detroit and Dayton based The Strains. They discuss how the current lineup came together, their new record Queen Death, mingling with Motor City legends, and overcoming geographical issues. The PTID guys have the pleasure of welcoming Channel 3 frontman Mike Magrann back to the podcast. His second book, Tin Knockers, is about to drop and it's excellent. They discuss the book and the "glam" era of the band's career, the impending reissue of Last Time I Drank, and the upcoming Dr. Strange Summer Bash among other things. The PTID guys have a nice time chatting with author Kevin Dunn. He recently penned the 33 1/3 series book about Stiff Little Fingers' classic debut album, Inflammable Material. It's a fascinating look at an early punk band, but also provides valuable insight into The Troubles, as well as punk's occasional influence on greater society. One of the PTID guys favorite guests, Josh Goldman, stops by for another visit. He drops some hot Raging Nathans gossip, and talks about the many upcoming Rad Girlfriend Records releases. The PTID guys have a nice visit with Curtiss Florczak, vocalist and guitarist of newer Boston band Badterms. They get into the origins of the band and their new record, Nest of Vipers. Curt is a musician's musician and spoke on a wide array of subjects. With songs from Badterms.

Neil goes out on the town to meet up with some friends and see Teenage Bottlerocket. Tom heads back to Logansport to hang out with a bunch of nerds. Jeff Clayton, singer of the mighty ANTiSEEN, stops by for his second visit with the PTID guys. He talks candidly about any number of topics, including whether or not legacy acts need to release new music, the sordid history and enduring legacy of the Eat More Possum LP, encores and bleeding on stage. Tom and his crew head to Logansport for The Record Farm's 10th anniversary celebration with Against the Grain, Flatfoot 56 and the rest. Just a couple days later he sees the legendary Handsome Dick Manitoba in Grand Rapids. The PTID guys also acknowledge the passing of fellow Dictator Ross the Boss. The PTID guys were lucky enough to spend some quality time with Garry Bushell, the English writer whose Oi compilations in the  early '80s really put the genre on the map. He talks about his adventures with Sham 69, Cockney Rejects, The Blood and more, plus his long career in various forms of journalism. Tom and Neil have a nice chat with Gabriel Rotello, author of the fictional crime novel The CBGB Conspiracy. Rotello moved to NYC in 1974, and was there for the birth of punk at the famed Bowery dive. His vivid memories and descriptions make you feel like you were there rubbing elbows with the misfits, punks and junkies that inhabited rock bottom New York in 1977. With songs from Television, The Shirts, Jayne County, Sick Fucks, Patti Smith and Richard Hell and the Voidoids. 

This stitched together episode starts with the PTID guys talking about a few things bothering them. Dropkick Murphys, Punk in the Park, politics in punk and a few other topics are discussed. Finally their old pal Matt Swisher joins them to talk about all the cool stuff going down in Logansport, including a date reveal for the annual PTID show. The PTID guys catch up with Flatfoot 56 guitarist/vocalist Tobin Bawinkel. They talk about the early days of the band, and what a long strange trip it's been. The Canadian legends are reissuing their 1995 album The Black Spot, and the PTID guys were able to catch up with Joe Keithley (Joey Shithead!) for a fun, wide ranging conversation. Is there a more important punk band north of the border? Featuring songs from reissued album The Black Spot, plus other classics from the mighty D.O.A. And a couple of other surprises!

The PTID guys were thrilled to catch up with former Hüsker Dü and current UltraBomb bassist Greg Norton in the wilds of Minnesota. They talk about the good old days and his long break from the music business, as well as the formation and new lineup of UltraBomb. With songs from UltraBomb. 

The PTID guys have been having such good luck lately with blind interviews that they decided to add Horace Pinker to the mix. A good time was had by all discussing the band's history, their many brushes with greatness, their new record and big plans for next year. With songs old and new from Horace Pinker. 

Tom and Neil go through some listener top 10 lists and check out some stuff they missed. There's lots to compare and contrast. They also get a visit from the Lord of Logansport, who runs down his favorite PTID episodes of 2025, and teases a couple of big events for 2026. Ricky Frankel returns for his annual visit to go over his top 10 of 2025. Like everyone else, he has to dig a bit deeper this year to mine some gold. He gets minimal abuse from the PTID guys, except for regarding his continued love of ska. He and Neil actually even agree on a couple things! The PTID guys are always thrilled to welcome their old friend Heather Wheaton for her annual visit. Between the incessant ball-breaking and friendly banter, they manage to run through some of the top (international, of course) pop punk releases of 2025.  With songs from The Riptides, Cleavers, Burger Weekends, Teenage Bottlerocket, East End Redemption, Ratbones, Lone Wolf, Horror Section, The Hallingtons, and The Rip Taylors. 

Two fake doctors and two real A-holes have a massive meeting of the minds! Dr. strange gives the details of his plan to replace Punk Rock Bowling with an epic three day show in Pomona. Dr. Disc gives the PTID guys their first top 10  list of 2025. With songs from Dead Milkmen, The Network, Jokers Republic, FACS, Lazy Cowgirls, The Dickies, and Home Front. 

Tom makes the trip around the big lake and the PTID guys go see The Saints at The Metro. The next day they sit around Neil's dinner table for a rare face to face talk. After years of talking about it, the PTID guys finally host one of their most requested guests, The Bollweevils. They are thrilled to be joined by singer Dr. Daryl Wilson and guitarist Ken Weevil. They talk about the early days of the band, the breakup and reunion, and what they're up to these days. It's a fun, wide ranging conversation, with music old and new from The Bollweevils. 

Tom goes on vacation AGAIN. He spends plenty of time on the beach, but also manages to squeeze in some record shopping. He and Neil also discuss the cancellation of Punk Rock Bowling for 2026, the Dr. Strange 37th anniversary show and whatever else was on their twisted minds. The PTID guys are thrilled to talk to one of the true Godfathers of New York Hardcore, Agnostic Front singer Roger Miret. The wide ranging conversation gets into the early days in the Lower East Side, and the way the band operates today. There's talk about the new record, as well as fellow H/C legends like Vinnie Stigma and Harley Flanagan. With new and old songs from Agnostic Front, and Roger Miret and the Disasters. 

Way back in 1995, Rhythm Collision's Clobberer was one of Tom's favorite albums. Three decades later he and Neil catch up with the recently reunited band, and they're happy as a clam. Tom and Neil drag their old bones off the couch to go to a bunch of gigs. In this installment of PTID, Dr. Trauma and Dr. Liverpool are joined by a couple of the the brightest (filthiest?) minds in punk, Dr. Strange and Dr. Disk. Their NC-17 discussion touches on a number of topics, mostly revolving around proctology and Riot Fest 2025. Listen at your own peril! Tom returned to Riot fest with Dr. Disk from Goldmine Magazine after taking an 11 year break. What bands were great, and who was disappointing? Who were the best and worst interviews? Who did GWAR sodomize with a chainsaw? And most importantly, did he talk Neil into giving Riot Fest another try? Listeners demanded it, and the PTID guys delivered in the clutch! Tom and Neil have a nice chat with Pulley frontman and former MLB left handed reliever Scott Radinsky. They talk about his Nardcore roots in Scared Straight, his time in Ten Foot Pole, and the eventual formation of Pulley. Oxys' guitarist Jason "Ginchy" Kottwitz stops by PTID for the second time. They have a conversation as big as Texas about a bunch of topics. They dig into the songwriting process, their shared hatred for a certain streaming service, playing for Cleopatra Records and touring foibles, among other things. Long time Motor City punk Amado Guadarrama stops by for the second time for a wide ranging talk about all things Detroit. They also dig into the new Norcos Y Horchata record, Precious Little Album, and the band's continued evolution. With songs by Norco's Y Horchata!

The PTID guys catch up with Stephen Hockenhull AKA Hocky from Instant Agony and a bunch of other bands. Although they never met, Neil and Hocky grew up close to each other and shared many experiences and gigs. Listen to them compare English slums and classic shows. Tom goes to see Hatebreed to watch the kids dance like mental patients, and catches the Dayglo Abortions before they were arrested two days later. Neil has a good time at a punk rock pool party, and sits front row for a Smiths tribute band. The PTID guys even discuss a possible return to Riot Fest. The PTID guys have the pleasure of catching up with SoCal punk pioneer, label owner and tastemaker Robbie Fields, founder of Posh Boy Records. The sound can be a bit dodgy at times as he was connecting from a cellphone in the Philippines, but it's worth hanging in there.
