Genesis 5 | Daily Bible Briefing

Genesis 5   New Living Translation     The Descendants of Adam 5 This is the written account of the descendants of Adam. When God created human beings,a]">[a] he made them to be like himself. 2 He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them "human." 3 When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who was just like him—in his very image. He named his son Seth. 4 After the birth of Seth, Adam lived another 800 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 5 Adam lived 930 years, and then he died. 6 When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father ofb]">[b] Enosh. 7 After the birth ofc]">[c] Enosh, Seth lived another 807 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 8 Seth lived 912 years, and then he died. 9 When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan. 10 After the birth of Kenan, Enosh lived another 815 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 11 Enosh lived 905 years, and then he died. 12 When Kenan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel. 13 After the birth of Mahalalel, Kenan lived another 840 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 14 Kenan lived 910 years, and then he died. 15 When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared. 16 After the birth of Jared, Mahalalel lived another 830 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 17 Mahalalel lived 895 years, and then he died. 18 When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch. 19 After the birth of Enoch, Jared lived another 800 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 20 Jared lived 962 years, and then he died. 21 When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah. 22 After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 23 Enoch lived 365 years, 24 walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him. 25 When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech. 26 After the birth of Lamech, Methuselah lived another 782 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 27 Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died. 28 When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son. 29 Lamech named his son Noah, for he said, "May he bring us reliefd]">[d] from our work and the painful labor of farming this ground that the Lord has cursed." 30 After the birth of Noah, Lamech lived another 595 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 31 Lamech lived 777 years, and then he died. 32 After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Eden Has Fallen | Genesis Four | Daily Bible Briefing

Genesis 4 4 Now Adama]">[a] had sexual relations with his wife, Eve, and she became pregnant. When she gave birth to Cain, she said, "With the Lord's help, I have producedb]">[b] a man!" 2 Later she gave birth to his brother and named him Abel. When they grew up, Abel became a shepherd, while Cain cultivated the ground. 3 When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the Lord. 4 Abel also brought a gift—the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift, 5 but he did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected. 6 "Why are you so angry?" the Lord asked Cain. "Why do you look so dejected? 7 You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master." 8 One day Cain suggested to his brother, "Let's go out into the fields."c]">[c] And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother, Abel, and killed him. 9 Afterward the Lord asked Cain, "Where is your brother? Where is Abel?" "I don't know," Cain responded. "Am I my brother's guardian?" 10 But the Lord said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground! 11 Now you are cursed and banished from the ground, which has swallowed your brother's blood. 12 No longer will the ground yield good crops for you, no matter how hard you work! From now on you will be a homeless wanderer on the earth." 13 Cain replied to the Lord, "My punishmentd]">[d] is too great for me to bear! 14 You have banished me from the land and from your presence; you have made me a homeless wanderer. Anyone who finds me will kill me!" 15 The Lord replied, "No, for I will give a sevenfold punishment to anyone who kills you." Then the Lord put a mark on Cain to warn anyone who might try to kill him. 16 So Cain left the Lord's presence and settled in the land of Nod,e]">[e] east of Eden. The Descendants of Cain 17 Cain had sexual relations with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Then Cain founded a city, which he named Enoch, after his son. 18 Enoch had a son named Irad. Irad became the father off]">[f] Mehujael. Mehujael became the father of Methushael. Methushael became the father of Lamech. 19 Lamech married two women. The first was named Adah, and the second was Zillah. 20 Adah gave birth to Jabal, who was the first of those who raise livestock and live in tents. 21 His brother's name was Jubal, the first of all who play the harp and flute. 22 Lamech's other wife, Zillah, gave birth to a son named Tubal-cain. He became an expert in forging tools of bronze and iron. Tubal-cain had a sister named Naamah. 23 One day Lamech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, hear my voice;     listen to me, you wives of Lamech. I have killed a man who attacked me,     a young man who wounded me. 24 If someone who kills Cain is punished seven times,     then the one who kills me will be punished seventy-seven times!" The Birth of Seth 25 Adam had sexual relations with his wife again, and she gave birth to another son. She named him Seth,g]">[g] for she said, "God has granted me another son in place of Abel, whom Cain killed." 26 When Seth grew up, he had a son and named him Enosh. At that time people first began to worship the Lord by name.

The Gates of Hell | Revelation 20:1–10 | Ecclesiastes 12

Ecclesiastes 12 12 Remember your Creator     in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come     and the years arrive when you say,     "I have no pleasure in them": 2 before the sun, light,     moon, and stars are darkened,     and the clouds leave after the rain; 3 in the day when those watching the house tremble,     and the strong men are bent over; when the grinders cease because they are few,     and those looking through the windows have dimmed eyes; 4 and the doors on the street are shut,     and the sound of grinding is low; and one rises up at the sound of a bird,     and all the daughters of song are brought low; 5 when they are afraid of heights,     even the terrors along the road; the almond tree blossoms,     the grasshopper drags itself along     and desire fails, because man goes to his eternal home,     and the mourners go about the streets. 6 Remember your Creator before the cord of silver is snapped,     or the bowl of gold smashed, or the jar by the spring broken     or the wheel at the cistern crushed. 7 The dust returns to the earth where it was,     and the spirit returns to God who gave it. 8 It is all vanity, says the Preacher;     all is vanity. Epilogue 9 And in addition to being wise, the Preacher still taught the people knowledge, and he considered, sought out, and arranged many proverbs. 10 And the Preacher sought to discover words of delight, and to write in uprightness words of truth. 11 The words of the wise are like goads, and the collected sayings are like firmly embedded nails, given by one shepherd. 12 My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness to the flesh. 13 Now all has been heard.     Let us hear the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments,     for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment,     including every secret thing,     whether good or evil. Revelation 20:1-10 20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be set free for a little while. 4 I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and the authority to judge was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness of Jesus and for the word of God. They had not worshipped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who takes part in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with Him a thousand years. 7 When the thousand years are ended, Satan will be set free from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the sea. 9 They traveled the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. But fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet were. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

    Battle Drills | Ecclesiastes 11 | Isaiah 14:12–15 | Luke 10:18–19

Ecclesiastes 11 11 Cast thy bread upon the waters, for thou shalt find it after many days. 2 Give a portion to seven and also to eight, for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth. 3 If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth; and if the tree fall toward the south or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. 4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow, and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. 5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her that is with child, even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all. 6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand; for thou knowest not whether either this or that shall prosper, or whether they both shall be alike good. 7 Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun; 8 but if a man live many years and rejoice in them all, yet let him remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity. 9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth. And walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes; but know thou that for all these things, God will bring thee into judgment. 10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh, for childhood and youth are vanity.   Isaiah 14:12-15   12 "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, who didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.' 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.   Luke 10:18-19   21st Century King James Version 18 And He said unto them, "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

    The War Against Satan |Genesis 3:1-4 | Matthew 4:1-11 | Ezekiel 28:12-17

Genesis 3:1-4 The Fall 3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, 'Youa]">[a] shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?" 2 And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'" 4 But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.     Matthew 4:1-11   English Standard Version     The Temptation of Jesus 4 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." 4 But he answered, "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone,     but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple 6 and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, "'He will command his angels concerning you,' and "'On their hands they will bear you up,     lest you strike your foot against a stone.'" 7 Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'" 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." 10 Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, "'You shall worship the Lord your God     and him only shall you serve.'" 11 Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him. Ezekiel 28:12-17   English Standard Version 12 "Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God: "You were the signet of perfection,a]">[a]     full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 You were in Eden, the garden of God;     every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond,     beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire,b]">[b] emerald, and carbuncle;     and crafted in gold were your settings     and your engravings.c]">[c] On the day that you were created     they were prepared. 14 You were an anointed guardian cherub.     I placed you;d]">[d] you were on the holy mountain of God;     in the midst of the stones of fire you walked. 15 You were blameless in your ways     from the day you were created,     till unrighteousness was found in you. 16 In the abundance of your trade     you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God,     and I destroyed you,e]">[e] O guardian cherub,     from the midst of the stones of fire. 17 Your heart was proud because of your beauty;     you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground;     I exposed you before kings,     to feast their eyes on you.

    Song of Solomon 7 & 8

To ask questions or partner with the podcast click https://rallypoint.church/podcast Welcome to Rally Point Daily Bible Brief. Today we finish Song of Songs 7 and 8, where love is shown as beautiful, powerful, and meant to last. The bride longs for a love that is sealed, secure, and unbreakable—"set me as a seal upon your heart." That is covenant language. It is the cry for a love untouched by betrayal, untouched by decay, untouched by sin. And that longing tells us something: even our best human love carries the ache of a world that has been wounded. Sin strains relationships, distorts desire, and brings sorrow where God meant joy. But Song of Songs reminds us that God made love good. He made covenant good. He made man and woman for faithful, joyful, enduring union. And ultimately, that yearning points beyond marriage itself to the kind of forever love only God can fully give and restore.

Christ in Creation and The Meaning of Everything | Full Sermon

For full Sermon Notes Click https://rallypoint.church/blog/jesus-christ-is-creation-continuation-and-culmination   Creation, Christ, and the Meaning of Everything Four views are often brought to Genesis 1, but the real issue underneath all of them is bigger than the debate itself. The questions are: How was it all made? Who made it? Why was everything made? What will happen with all of creation? The readings move through Genesis 1, John 1:1–18, Colossians 1:11–20, Hebrews 1, and Revelation. The Four Views Theistic Evolution God spoke, and His voice caused a theistic evolutionary process. God created life through an evolutionary process over time. Old Earth God created the world over a very long period of time, often allowing for gaps, ages, or long eras within the Genesis account. Young Earth God created the world recently, usually understood as about 6,000–10,000 years ago, based on a straightforward reading of Genesis. Founded on the Floods God, who is light, brought order out of a flooded and judged world in Genesis 1, with the waters reflecting an earlier judgment connected to Satan's fall and helping explain fossils and other ancient remains.
