Random Sermons From a Redhead

  1. 18

    Overcoming Fear

What is God's plan for overcoming fear? It is not as easy as some 1-2-3 step plan. It has to do with faith, and who said faith was easy?

  2. 17

    Have Mercy

A trait I find in disciples throughout scripture is the recognition of being in desperate need of mercy. This sermon is about mercy. The first part is our pulpit minister, Bill Brumit, presenting a Bible to a couple and their new baby girl. I preach right after he presents the Bible. 4/22/2007

  3. 16

    From Reconciled to Reconcilers

Lee (the youth minister) and I had the opportunity to preach a sermon together. We work well together and have done this in the past. We were both convicted by Paul's message of reconciliation, in particular his call that we take up the ministry of reconciliation. The text is 2 Corinthians 5:17-19. Preached 3/18/2007

  4. 15

    Overcoming Our Segregated Lives

February is Black History Month and I was given the opportunity to preach about race and the church. This is a topic I feel very strongly about. According to Ephesians 2, the cross of Christ tore down the wall of hatred that separated different people.

  5. 14

    That Burning Bush Moment

Burning Bush Moments are defining moments. It is our response in those moments that truly define us. How will your response define you?

  6. 13

    Feasting on the Savior

Jesus knows the old saying, "You are what you eat." He knows it is true and he tells his disciples that in order to have life they must eat his flesh and drink his blood. What in the world does that mean and how can we do it? This sermon was preached 12-3-06. The sound quality is not the best. I hope it doesn't distract you from listening.

  7. 12

    Praying for a Better Tomorrow

Do you ever get tired of praying for yourself all the time? I call those prayers "Me Prayers." I pray those a lot. Jesus' prayer life has a lot to teach us about what kind of things we should be praying for. Preached 10/29/06

  8. 11

    Living the Baptized Life

Have you ever wandered if your baptism "took"? Have you ever wandered why you don't feel the same now as you did when you were baptized? Hopefully this sermon will help you to understand the baptized life a little better. This sermon was preached 8/13/2006.

  9. 10

    Do You Know Me?

There is something deep inside all of us that causes us to want to be known for who we really are, and yet we all have our mask that we wear. If there is one thing I could suggest that we do in order to have healthier relationships it would be for all of us to take off our mask.

  10. 9

    True Friendship

This sermon addresses the question, "What are the qualities of a true friendship?" What are the things that keeps friendships from falling apart? This is a short sermon that was preached during the evening service on August 6th.

  11. 8

    What Business Are You In?

There is a great line in the movie, Radio, that says, "It is never a mistake to care for someone." In this particular text Jesus asks, "Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or kill?" If Jesus were to answer his own question I believe he would have said something very similar to the famous line in Radio. This sermon was preached as part of the Encounters with Jesus series on June 25th, 2006.

  12. 7

    The Triumphal Procession

What does Paul mean when he writes that we are led in triumphal procession (2 Corinthians 2:14)? In the middle of this sermon I had someone handcuff me and I proceeded to preach the rest of the sermon handcuffed. This is a short sermon that was preached 5/7/2006 during the evening service.

  13. 6

    Touching the Untouchable

This is the first sermon of a series that all of our ministers are preaching called Encounters with Jesus. The clip I showed during the sermon was from Jeff Walling's one man drama about Matthew. This dvd and others can be found at www.wallingondvd.com. This sermon was preached 5/7/2006 in the morning service.

  14. 5

    Getting In the Action

"Merely being a spectator will never compare with the thrills and chills of getting in the middle of the action." This sermon is about serving in the church, and in the process I try to get our minds back to a healthier understanding of church.

  15. 4

    Facing It Alone

Society says, "Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps." God says, "Carry each others burdens." Society says, "Your business is your business. My business is my business." God says, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other." This sermon looks at the story of Elijah and explains the dangers of trying to face "it" alone. Preached on March 19, 2006.

  16. 3

    Communication: The New Self

This was sermon preached during a series on communication, January 8, 2006. How are Christians supposed to communicate with others? Paul will show us in his letter to the Colossians.

  17. 2

    Confessions of a Recovering Teenager

This was a sermon I preached at Greenwood Park on October 9th, 2005. This was part of a series we were preaching called Home Improvement. I don't have any kids yet, so I thought I would come at it from a different angle.
