The outcry of the innocent has reached the heart of heaven. Now the righteous judgment towards Sodom has come however, Lot is still in the city. How does the mercy of God rescue him? By taking him by the hand.

What was the problem with Sodom that its outcry reached the ears of Heaven? A clear distinction between those who are friends with God and those who are friends with the world. What does that look like? And what is the good news for Christian’s?

As God moves to judge the wickedness of Sodom, Abraham comes to the Lord as a man with humility and compassion asking the Lord not to destroy the righteous with the wicked. In this moving passage, we are encouraged to pray on the behalf of others too. Our confidence is not in the strength of our prayers but in the perfection of our savior!

Is God righteous? Will He destroy the righteous with the wicked? That is the heart of Genesis 18:22-33. Only those who put their trust and faith in the only True Righteous One, Jesus, will be declared righteous.

Being known by God is never a private comfort. It's an invitation into His purposes, a charge to shape our households after His character, and a call to trust His justice even when we don't yet see the whole picture.

After years of promise but no child, Sarah finds the promise of God too good to be true, even laughable. But what seems impossible is only a reminder that nothing is too hard for the Lord.

In Genesis 18, Abraham has an encounter with the Lord that leads to incredible grace driven hospitality. A reminder that we too are changed by the grace of God to bring generous hospitality to others.

In Genesis 17:15–27, God asks Abraham to trust a promise that makes absolutely no sense. Abraham is nearly one hundred years old, Sarah is ninety, and God says they are going to have a son. Abraham laughs. He offers God an alternative plan through Ishmael because it seems more realistic and manageable. Yet God reminds Abraham that His promises are not dependent on human ability but on divine faithfulness. The same struggle exists in all of us. When God’s timing is slow, His commands are difficult, or His plans don’t align with our expectations, we’re tempted to trust our own understanding rather than His Word. But this passage points us to the greater promised Son, Jesus Christ, who perfectly trusted the Father and fulfilled God’s covenant promises for us. Because God has proven His faithfulness through the cross and the empty tomb, we can trust Him even when we don’t understand what He’s doing. Faith isn’t having all the answers—it’s believing that the God who keeps His promises knows exactly what He’s doing and following Him one faithful step at a time.

God makes a covenant with Abraham to be his God. This is an incredible and eternal truth for us today.

Genesis 17 teaches us that when God’s people reach the end of themselves, they discover that God is more than enough. The covenant promises of God do not rest upon human ability but upon divine faithfulness.

After Abram takes Hagar as his wife, Hagar flees from the mistreatment of Sarai. As she journey’s into the wilderness, God meets her there and reveals Himself as the God who hears and sees the needs of His people.

After God’s promise to give Abram and Sarai an heir, ten years pass and Sarai decides to help God. This leads to suffering and pain because of a lack of trust in God. However, He is faithful in all things, especially His promise.

After Abram’s faith, God again reassures him of this promise by making a covenant with Abram. This covenant however, is solely dependent on God. Because of God’s faithfulness, we can rest in the certainty of these promises.

After receiving the promise from God, Abram is still dealing with fears and doubts. However, after God reassures him, Abram believed! This is the same powerful truth for Christians today, to believe in the Lord.

After Abram’s successful mission to rescue his nephew Lot, he is met by two kings. However one king brings a blessing pointing us towards the one and true priest-king… Jesus.

4 Eastern Kings come and conquer 5 southern Kings and end up taking Lot and his possessions. Abram gathers his trained men and allies and heads out to rescue his nephew. This is a glimpse of our need for rescue from our greatest enemy.

In light of Jesus’ resurrection, what should we believe and how should we live as a resurrected people?

After sacrificing his life in the cross for our sin, Jesus was buried in Joseph’s tomb. However on the third day, God raised him to life defeating Satan, sin and death!

On Palm Sunday Jesus enters Jerusalem and is celebrated as the “king who comes to save.” However, his face was set like flint to complete his mission of the cross.

As Abram and Lot return to the land of Canaan a dispute between their herdsman arises. Abram shows us that a life of faith is marked by making peace and trusting in the Lord’s promise.

After failing and living from fear, Abram returns to the land of promise and begins to worship. This reminds us that a life of faith is filled with repentance and worship.

Abram has a moment of fear and begins to take matters into his own hands. Will this action disrupt God’s plan of promise? And how can we learn to trust God and His promises when we fear?

Abram builds an altar of worship to God as he initially enters the promise land. We too, must builds altars of worship to God by faith in Him and His promises. Likewise, we must tear down any altars we’ve built on false hopes.

God calls to Abram to leave his land and trust in the promises of God. As we learn about Abram’s faith, we too can learn how God’s promises hold for those who step out in faith.

Sharing the good news of Jesus was vital and important to the early church and God drew many into the kingdom by their faith and witness. Mission is at the heart of every church!

Along with the Word of God, biblical community and prayer… worship was key to the growth of the early church. Worship is invaluable for the church today.

What did the disciples in the early church commit themselves too? They made prayer a priority and so should we.

As we come to the end of chapter 11, we begin to see the table being set for God to begin to reveal His plan of redemption. Through seed of Shem, Noah’s son, we the faithfulness of God in a sin-saturated world. We can trust God every day because He is and always will be faithful!

In this section of Genesis, mankind tries to build a name for themselves while attempting to reach God. How does God interact and show His mercy towards such pride? By coming down to us.

After the flood, God begins building the nations through Noah’s sons. Why does this matter? For two main reasons, to oversee God’s creation and to keep His promise to fill the earth.

After the flood, Noah and his sons begin a new life in a new earth. However, the flood waters did not remove sin from our world or our lives. How can we overcome sin, shame and the curse? The answer is in our text of Genesis 9.

How do we live in an evil world? To be like Christ means to live our enemies! Why do we do this? Because Jesus loved his enemies… us!

God creates a covenant to Noah, a promise to recreate and refill the earth with His image bearers. God is the promise maker, and promise keeper!

After the flood, God promises to restore humanity through Adam and his sons. This gives us a glimpse into the importance of life to God and to us.

With sin comes righteous judgment. So how can we, like Noah, avoid judgment and find grace? Genesis 7 gives us the answer.

Noah was considered righteous by God, but it was his faith in God that made him righteous, not his actions.

What separated Noah from his evil generation? He walked with God! Genesis 6 gives us a glimpse into how we too can walk with God in righteousness.

When mankind has continually evil thoughts and actions, what must God do? Put an end to it but one man found favor and blessing.

Because Adam and Eve rebelled against God, all mankind was left with the consequences. Namely the sting of death. But is there hope to overcome death?

Following the the fall of mankind and the first murder, Genesis 4 continues to show the unraveling of a life without God. But there is hope! What does a life marked by worship look like?

How will Cain respond to his rejection? By murdering his brother. How will God respond to Cain? With mercy!

After the fall, Cain and Abel are born and both bring offerings to God. One is accepted and the other is rejected. Why? What does it look like to offer acceptable worship?

With the introduction of sin into the world, our relationship with God has now been forever changed. How can unholy, sinful people approach a holy, just and righteous God?
