FIRST LOVE | Love Compromised
July 5, 2026 - Pergamum lives where Satan’s throne is. The church has held fast to Jesus’ name, even under persecution, but compromise has taken root within. Like Balaam, false teaching has placed stumbling blocks before God’s people. The church is being bewitched by the promises of empire, politics, patriotism, culture, sex, and the market. Jesus comes with the sharp sword of his mouth to expose lies and reclaim his people. He offers hidden manna and a white stone which is a better satisfaction and a truer name than the idols can give.

FIRST LOVE | Love Under Pressure
June 28, 2026 -- Smyrna is suffering. They are poor, slandered, threatened, and under crushing pressure. Yet Jesus offers no correction to this church. He tells them that he knows their tribulation, that their suffering is not hidden from him, and that death will not have the final word. The call is not escape, but faithfulness. In Smyrna, love is tested by suffering, fear, and loss but Jesus, the one who died and came to life, promises the crown of life.

FIRST LOVE | Love Lost
June 21, 2026 -- The church in Ephesus is active, discerning, hardworking, and committed to truth. They test false teaching. They endure. They have not grown weary. And yet Jesus says they have abandoned their first love. This sermon names the danger of faithfulness without affection, truth without love, and church life that becomes vinegar instead of joy. Jesus calls his church to remember, repent, and return not to a vague feeling, but to the love that first loved us.

EBENEZER | Jonathan Murfee
In this podcast, we are sharing Ebenezer moments of the people of Redeemer Church. An Ebenezer moment is simply telling the truth about where you’ve been and noticing where God has met you along the way. Some of that may feel clear; some of it may still feel unfinished. These stories are invitations to listen together to remember thus far how the Lord has helped, and to notice how God has been faithful-sometimes quietly, sometimes slowly, often in ways we only see in hindsight. Join us and listen along.

FIRST LOVE | Love Unveiled
Revelation begins by pulling back the curtain. Before Jesus addresses the churches, John is given a vision of Jesus himself. The book is not first a puzzle to solve or a timeline to decode; it is an unveiling of Christ. It shows us that reality is deeper than what we can see with our eyes. Beneath suffering, fear, evil, compromise, and confusion, Jesus is present and reigning. This first sermon sets the lens for the whole series: the church can only hear Jesus rightly when it sees him clearly.

THIN PLACES | Pray at All Times
Paul ends his teaching on the armor of God by calling the church to pray at all times in the Spirit. Prayer is not one more piece of armor laid beside the others; it is the living dependence that activates and sustains the whole life of spiritual warfare. In a battle too great for us, prayer is how we call for help, stay alert, persevere, and carry one another before God. Paul urges believers to pray in every season, with every kind of prayer, with perseverance, and for all the saints. The Christian life is not lived in self-sufficiency but in constant reliance on the presence, power, and mercy of God. The armor is worn through prayer.

THIN PLACES | The Sword of the Spirit
Paul describes the Word of God as the sword of the Spirit because Scripture is the believer’s weapon in the spiritual battle. The enemy fights with lies, accusations, and temptations, but the Word of God exposes deception and anchors us in truth. Jesus himself modeled how to wield this sword when he resisted Satan in the wilderness by quoting Scripture. To take up the sword of the Spirit is to fill our minds with God’s Word, to answer temptation with truth, and to allow the Spirit to apply Scripture to our lives. In a world searching for meaning and truth, the Word of God remains living, active, and powerful. The sword that defeats the enemy is the Word of God. It is our only offensive weapon.

THIN PLACES | The Helmet of Salvation
Paul tells us to take up the helmet of salvation because the battle is not only around us but also at the level of the mind. The enemy traffics in despair, confusion, condemnation, and forgetfulness, seeking to cloud our vision and unsettle our hope. But salvation guards the head by reminding us who Christ is, what he has done, and where the story is going. In Jesus, we have been saved, are being saved, and will be saved. The helmet of salvation protects the mind with hope, steadies us in the midst of attack, and teaches us to live from the certainty that our future belongs to Christ.

THIN PLACES | The Shield of Faith
The Christian life is lived under fire. The enemy sends flaming darts of fear, doubt, temptation, accusation, discouragement, and despair, especially in seasons of ministry, suffering, spiritual dryness, and vulnerability. Paul tells us to take up the shield of faith. This is not faith in general, but faith in God himself. Faith is the act of taking refuge in the promises of God, the power of God, and the love of God. When the darts come, faith does not pretend they are harmless; it lifts the shield of God’s character and Christ’s finished work. In this way, faith extinguishes what would otherwise set the soul on fire.

THIN PLACES | The Sandals of Peace
In a world of hostility, anxiety, and division, Paul says the people of God are to stand with their feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. This peace is not mere calmness or avoidance of conflict. It is the peace Christ has made through his cross: peace with God, peace within ourselves, and peace with one another, peace with creation. The enemy loves division, suspicion, and hostility, but the gospel makes a new kind of people, who are steady, reconciled, and ready to carry peace into a fractured world. To wear the sandals of peace is to stand firm in the reconciling work of Christ and to become agents of that peace wherever we go. The enemy loves division; Christ is our peace.

THIN PLACES | The Breastplate of Righteousness
Beneath so much of human striving lies a deeper ache: the longing to be enough, to be approved, to be declared right. Ever since Eden, we have tried to cover our shame with fig leaves of success, morality, approval, romance, performance, and self-justification. But none of those coverings can protect the heart. Paul tells us to put on the breastplate of righteousness because our deepest defense is not a righteousness we achieve, but a righteousness we receive in Christ. Jesus took our guilt upon himself and gives us his righteous standing before the Father. Clothed in him, we can stand against accusation, condemnation, and shame.

THIN PLACES | The Belt of Truth
The enemy traffics in lies, distortion, and deception, so the first piece of God’s armor is truth. Paul tells us to fasten on the belt of truth because truth is what holds a life together. Lies fragment the self, corrode trust, and estrange us from the God of truth. But in Jesus Christ, who is himself the Truth, we are invited into freedom, integrity, and reality. As we are formed by God’s Word and practice truthfulness with one another, we learn to stand against the schemes of the devil.

THIN PLACES | The Enemy
If we are going to stand in the spiritual battle, we must know the enemy we face. Paul says the devil has schemes. These are tragedies designed to deceive, tempt, accuse, divide, and discourage the people of God. Scripture does not call us to fear him or obsess over him, but neither does it let us ignore him. The enemy is real, cunning, and destructive. Yet Christ has come to destroy the works of the devil, and in his strength the church can resist, stand, and walk in the light.

THIN PLACES | The War
Thin Places is a nine-week journey through Ephesians 6:10–20, where Paul reminds us that the Christian life unfolds in the midst of an unseen battle. Beneath the surface of everyday life there is a real spiritual conflict, and the people of God are called not to panic, but to stand in Christ. In this series, we will look at the schemes of the enemy and the armor God gives his people: truth for our confusion, righteousness for our shame, peace for our hostility, faith for the fire, salvation for our minds, the Word for the battle, and prayer for the journey. Above all, this series is not about fighting for victory, but learning to stand firm in the victory Christ has already won through his life, death and resurrection and our union with Him.
