Episode 36: How Should We as Christians Address Homosexuality?
In this episode of Redefined, we continue our conversation on a sensitive but important question: How should Christians address homosexuality?Rather than approaching this topic with pride or criticism, we go to Scripture and seek to respond with both truth and love. We discuss God’s design for marriage and sexuality, while also emphasizing that homosexuality is not the root issue—but a symptom of the greater problem of sin that affects all of us.We explore how the gospel shapes our response—especially when engaging with those who are not believers—and why our focus should be on heart transformation, not behavior modification. For those who profess to follow Christ, we talk through what it looks like to walk in obedience, understand the difference between temptation and sin, and pursue holiness.Above all, this conversation centers on the truth that no one is beyond the grace of God. Our calling is not to win arguments, but to point people to Jesus—speaking truth, showing love, and reflecting the heart of the gospel in everything we do.

Topic Intro: How Should We as Christians Address Homosexuality?
In this month’s intro episode of Redefined, we introduce an important and sensitive question: How should we as Christians address homosexuality? This conversation is not centered around debating whether it is right or wrong. Scripture is clear that marriage is designed by God to be between a man and a woman. Instead, our focus is on how we, as believers, approach this topic in today’s world—with truth, grace, and a heart that reflects Christ. How do we have these conversations without being harsh or critical? How do we stand on biblical truth while also showing love to those around us? Whether this is something you’ve wrestled with personally or in relationships with others, we want to approach it in a way that is both biblically faithful and gospel-centered.We invite you to be part of this conversation. Please take time to complete our podcast feedback form and share any questions, testimonies, stories, or thoughts you would like us to consider as we prepare for the full episode. We’d love to hear from you as we seek to navigate this topic together.Podcast Feedback Form Link:https://olivetbaptistnc.org/podcast-feedback

Episode 34: Do I Have to Go to Church?
In this episode of Redefined, we take on a question many people are asking: Do I have to go to church?Rather than starting with opinions or personal preferences, we go back to Scripture to redefine what the Church truly is. What does the word “church” actually mean? What did God design it to be? And how does that shape the way we think about gathering together as believers? We also address real and difficult topics like church hurt, the phrase “where two or more are gathered,” accountability, and the importance of unity within the body of Christ. Is church simply a building we attend, or is it something much deeper—something we are called to actively participate in?Join us as we bring this conversation back to a biblical foundation and explore why the Church is not just an optional add-on to the Christian life, but a vital part of God’s design for His people.

Episode 33: How can I help someone who is caught up in sin?
In our first episode of 2026, Redefined tackles an important and often uncomfortable question: How can I help someone who is caught up in sin? This conversation goes to the heart of what it means to live in true biblical community and function as the body of believers God has called us to be.We discuss why this topic matters within the church and why genuine, gospel-centered fellowship is essential for spiritual growth. Using Galatians 6:1 as our foundation, we unpack what it means for someone to be “overtaken” in sin and what biblical restoration truly looks like. Rather than avoiding involvement under the mindset of “not getting in someone else’s business,” we challenge that idea and explore how loving accountability is a vital part of Christian discipleship. We also emphasize that restoration is often a process, not a one-time conversation. Helping someone walk toward repentance and healing requires humility, patience, and a spirit-led approach rooted in grace and truth. Join us as we seek to redefine how believers walk alongside one another in love, correction, and restoration.

Does It Matter What I Watch and Listen To?
In this episode of Redefined, we tackle a question that every believer wrestles with: Does it really matter what I watch and listen to?We live in a world where streaming services, social media, and endless online content are always at our fingertips. These things don’t just entertain us, they shape the way we think, what we believe, and how we live. But as believers who have freedom in the gospel and are already declared righteous, how should we approach the content we consume? Does it impact our walk with Christ, or is it simply a matter of preference?Join us as we dive into Scripture, unpack the influence of what we let into our minds, and explore how the gospel reframes the way we view media, entertainment, and culture.

Handling Conflict
Conflict is inevitable, but how we handle it matters deeply, especially as believers. In this episode of Redefined, we dive into what Scripture says about dealing with conflict in a godly way. Let’s be honest: when someone offends us or does something we disagree with, our default response is often to talk to everyone else about it. But God’s Word calls us to go directly to the person and handle it with truth, love, and grace. We also explore why handling conflict within the family can be so much harder than with others, and what we risk when we choose to avoid hard conversations just to “keep the peace.”Tune in as we unpack how to biblically navigate tension, restore unity, and grow through conflict.

PODCAST UPDATE
In this Update episode of Redefined, we share why we’ve chosen not to release our originally planned episodes on the topic of biblical fasting. After recording two versions and engaging in several conversations throughout the week, we felt that neither episode clearly communicated what we wanted our listeners to walk away with. Out of caution and care for the platform God has given us, we decided it was better not to release content that could bring more confusion than clarity. But this update comes with a challenge—and an invitation. We’re asking you, our listeners, to join us in the Word. Let’s seek out what Scripture truly says about fasting. Below are some passages to get you started:Matthew 6Matthew 4Acts 13Acts 141 Corinthians 72 Chronicles 20Ezra 81 Kings 19Nehemiah 12 Samuel 12Esther 4Zechariah 7Let’s discover the heart of fasting together as we continue to pursue a life redefined by the Gospel.

Whether it’s Bible reading, prayer, or devotionals, we often start with good intentions—but somewhere along the way, we lose momentum. We explore the reasons behind this, like busyness, confusion, or feeling like it’s a chore. While those are understandable, we challenge the deeper heart issue behind our lack of motivation. Are we reading to know God, or just to check off a box?We share how shifting your mindset—from reading for self to seeking God and pouring into others—can reignite spiritual passion and restore purpose in your time with Him.Join us for a real, honest conversation about how to stay motivated and rooted in Christ.

What is the mission?
In this episode of Redefined, we dive into what it truly means to have a mission-focused mindset. Within the church, there are countless ministries, programs, and serving opportunities, but are they all being carried out with the same mission in mind? Too often, we elevate the responsibility of making disciples and sharing the gospel to pastors and church leaders, forgetting that every believer is called to this mission. We challenge the mindset that evangelism and discipleship are only for a select few and instead explore how the Great Commission applies to all of us—right where we are. Tune in for a conversation that will encourage and equip you to live with intentionality for the gospel.

Raising Godly Children in a Sinful World
In this episode of Redefined, hosts Matt Rummage, Andrew Patrick, and Noah Estes dive into a crucial conversation about parenting in a society that constantly pressures kids to be everything except what God wants them to be. We bring different perspectives to this discussion, including sports, technology, and academics. It’s easy to chase after worldly things and become distracted from what matters most—the spiritual relationship of your child. We talk about how easy it is to conform to the world and lead kids down a path where they constantly search for fulfillment but will never truly find it unless it’s in the gospel. Many parents may assume their children are "fine" because they said a sinner’s prayer, walked an isle, or attend church occasionally—but God calls us to something deeper. He calls us to make disciples within our own families, intentionally building up our children to become who God created them to be.Join us as we explore what it means to raise children with a kingdom-focused mindset!

Why Forgiveness Matters
In Episode 17 of Redefined, we tackle the challenging yet essential topic of forgiveness. We begin by exploring the true meaning of forgiveness—releasing the offender to God and choosing not to seek personal vengeance. Forgiveness is not just about the other person; it’s about breaking the chains of bondage that holding grudges can create in our lives.Through this conversation, we highlight the ultimate example of forgiveness found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We’ve been forgiven of so much, and in light of that, forgiveness becomes an act of obedience and trust in God’s sovereignty over every situation. We close with a challenge: Who is God asking you to forgive today? Let’s be obedient to God’s call, praying for those who have hurt us and extending His grace in every relationship.

As Christians, we are called to reflect the generosity of Jesus, who displayed the ultimate act of giving through His sacrifice for our salvation. While generosity is often emphasized during the holiday season, we discuss how believers are called to live generously year-round, not just during one season. The holidays also bring expectations of gifts and personal gain, but we challenge ourselves to shift our focus from self to the true meaning of this time of year—the generosity of God in sending His Son into the world.Join us for a heartfelt conversation that will inspire you to embrace a spirit of generosity in every season of life.

How Does a Believer Change?
In Episode 13 of Redefined, we dive into the question: How does a believer truly change? One of the most common misconceptions in the faith is that once you're saved, all struggles with sin disappear. We challenge this idea with scripture, showing that becoming a believer means entering a battle between the flesh and the Spirit. While the flesh remains, the Spirit gives us the desire and strength to fight against sin. We share practical examples and personal experiences in our own journeys of battling sin daily. As always, we bring it back to the gospel, highlighting how a deep understanding of the gospel and the seriousness of sin fuels our fight against our sin struggles. Tune in for an honest conversation on growth, struggle, and transformation in the Christian life.

The Good News of The Gospel
In this episode of “Redefined,” we finally dive into the question we’ve touched on in almost every episode: What is the gospel? For those who’ve grown up in church, it might be tempting to skip this episode, thinking they already know the answer. But one thing we must never allow ourselves to do is become numb to the gospel. We begin by exploring why the gospel was necessary in the first place—why did Jesus have to die? From there, we unpack the significance of His death and resurrection on our behalf. The truth is, if your faith rests in anything other than the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you are lost. We’ve often replaced the gospel with man-made traditions, but there is only one narrow path to life: Jesus’ perfect, final, and finished sacrifice for us. Share this episode with someone as a way to spread the good news—the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Is God Enough for Ministry?
In this episode of “Redefined,” we tackle the question: Is God enough for ministry? In today’s Christian culture, we’ve often added traditions that shift the power of salvation from God’s hands to human actions. We’ve encouraged people to say a prayer, walk an aisle, or raise a hand, yet follow-ups reveal that many remain unsure about their relationship with God after such “experiences.” We examine how we’ve come to measure success by numbers and popularity, and challenge the notion of whether we truly believe that God is enough for ministry. Ultimately, we bring it back to the Gospel, emphasizing that salvation comes through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross alone. Join us for a thought-provoking discussion on the sufficiency of God in ministry.

God’s Design for the Family
This week on "Redefined," we focus on God’s design for the family unit. As Olivet Baptist Church prepares to launch a new sermon series on the book of Ephesians, we discuss the significance of this study—not just for Sunday mornings, but for deep, intentional spiritual discussions within our homes. We explore the crucial role of parents in discipling their children, addressing how youth groups, while not harmful, are sometimes used as a substitute for parental responsibility. This conversation is for everyone, whether you're single, dating, engaged, newly married, or in the thick of family life. We also reflect on how the distractions of the world often pull us away from what’s most important: our relationship with God. We end with a challenge to parents—and all of us—to take an honest look at where we stand in our walk with Jesus Christ.

A Gospel-Centered Approach to Alcohol
This week on "Redefined," we dive into a topic that often goes unaddressed in the church: alcohol. We explore three common perspectives that Christians hold about alcohol. First, we discuss the view that alcohol isn’t a problem at all. Next, we examine the belief that drinking alcohol in moderation is acceptable. Lastly, we address how some people use alcohol in a self-righteous way, placing it at the top of the sin list and making judgments about those who do drink. We bring these viewpoints together by looking at the Gospel, emphasizing that while we have freedom in Christ, we are not called to abuse that freedom. Join us as we take a gospel-centered approach to tackling the subject of alcohol.
