RA #962: Thoughts After Our First Rosary Army Retreat

We talk through the first Rosary Army retreat, what surprised us, what worked, and why we're not quite ready to decide yet if there will be another one. _______ We're home from the first Rosary Army retreat, still tired, processing, and not making any big decisions. We talk about the beauty of the retreat center, the talks, the food, the people who came, and the difference between wanting something bigger and realizing smaller might just have been exactly right. We also talk about what it was like to have our teenage daughter with us for this weekend, the impact of silent Eucharistic Adoration, and why personal encounters mattered so much. RA #961: Is This Why Reverence Is Disappearing?

After a bad experience in the confessional, we felt the need to finally speak up about some things we've been witnessing in parishes that really need to stop. When priests and laypeople stop treating liturgy and the sacraments with the seriousness they deserve, people lose faith, reverence gets watered down, and sacred things begin to feel ordinary. That should never happen. We talk about confession, the Eucharist, changed words at Mass, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, lay blessings during Communion, and the need for priests to model reverence for the people they serve. RA #960: A Worthy Dwelling Place for God

A prayer from St. Louis de Montfort that you'll want to start praying every time you go to Mass, a Tale of Two Old Chairs, and an unexpected e-mail about Greg's book brought about a long-forgotten reconnection after almost 35 years. Rosary Army 2026 Retreat - Register for our first in-person retreat before June 5 Prayer Greg shared in this episode: Prayer During Holy Communion According to St. Louis Marie de MontfortAdapted from True Devotion #267-269 by Rosary Army founder Greg Willits, wherein St. Louis de Montfort recommends that, "after the Our Father, when you are about to receive our Lord, say to him three times the prayer, 'Lord I am not worthy,'" while meditating on the following:_________________________________________________________________________ God, my loving Father, because of my evil thoughts and ingratitude toward you, I am not worthy to receive Your only begotten Son, Jesus, in the most Holy Eucharist.  But here with me is Mary, Your handmaid as well as my mother and queen, who acts on my behalf and whose presence gives me a special confidence and hope in You.  Dómine, non sum dignus, ut intres sub tectum meum: sed tantum dic verbo, et sanábitur ánima mea. (Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.) Lord Jesus, Eternal Wisdom, because of my useless and evil words, and my carelessness in Thy service, I am not worthy to receive Thee, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist.  But nevertheless, I beg of You Thy mercy.  Have pity on me because I shall usher Thee into the house of Thy mother and mine, and I will not let You go until You have made it Your home.  I implore You to rise and come to the place of Your repose and the ark of Your sanctification, which is Mary.  Like Esau, I have no faith or confidence in my own merits, strength, and preparedness.  But as Jacob had trust in his mother, Rebecca, I do have confidence in Mary, Your mother.  Although I am a great sinner, I still presume to approach Thee, supported by Thy holy Mother and adorned with her merits and virtues.  Dómine, non sum dignus, ut intres sub tectum meum: sed tantum dic verbo, et sanábitur ánima mea. (Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.) Holy Spirit, because of my lukewarmness, wickedness, and resistance to Thy inspirations, I am not worthy to receive the masterpiece of Thy love in the most Holy Eucharist.  Nonetheless, I put all my confidence in Mary, Thy faithful spouse, and say with St. Bernard, "She is my greatest safeguard, the whole foundation of my hope."  I beg Thee to once again overshadow Mary, Thy inseparable spouse, whose womb is as pure and her heart as ardent as ever.  If you do not enter my soul, neither Jesus nor Mary will be formed there, nor will my soul be a worthy dwelling for them. Dómine, non sum dignus, ut intres sub tectum meum: sed tantum dic verbo, et sanábitur ánima mea. RA #958: Someone Always Needs a Rosary

Jennifer shares what happened when she gave a rosary to a stranger at a concert, and Greg talks through a simple way to pray the Rosary more deeply with Scripture. --- After last week's conversation with Gabriel Castillo, a lot of new people found Rosary Army, started commenting, and began sharing their own stories of prayer, confession, and returning to the faith. Greg and Jennifer begin by welcoming those new listeners and pointing back to Rosary Army's original mission: Make Them. Pray Them. Give Them Away. Jennifer then tells the story of taking extra rosaries to a concert and feeling prompted to give one to a stranger who was visibly moved during a difficult song. That moment leads Greg back to the early days of Rosary Army, the importance of always having rosaries ready to share, and a practical way he has been praying the Rosary with Scripture as a kind of "soundtrack" for meditating on the life of Christ. Gabriel Castillo joins Greg and Jennifer to talk about The Power of the Rosary, the real fight for holiness, and why calling on Mary is needed now more than ever to fight the evil in this world. Gabriel Castillo, known online as GabiAfterHours, joins Greg and Jennifer for a conversation that goes in so many incredible and unexpected directions. Before discussing his book The Power of the Rosary, Gabriel shares how Rosary Army's early audio rosaries and videos shaped his prayer life, ministry, and desire to use media for the faith. RA #956: Just Do the Thing Already!

Greg and Jennifer talk about the fear of making mistakes and small practical steps that can help you finally move forward. It's easy to stall out when you are afraid of doing the wrong thing. This fear constantly resurfaces for us.  In our current home, one room has left us stuck in analysis paralysis for over seven years. But the issue is not just finding the right furniture or even diving into a confusing remodel construction. The problem is always waiting until we think we have all the answers before actually taking action.  And because we rarely have all the answers, there are many projects not only left uncompleted, but not even started.  And that's just stupid. So how do we overcome that?  And how have we started making so much more progress in recent months?  We share what has helped break that pattern, both in Rosary Army and at home.  It's not just one thing that solved the problem, but several, small, simple solutions. The whole conversation circles this main question: what good thing have you delayed because you are too afraid to begin?  And what can you do to get it done already? RA #954: 30 Days of Praying 15 Mysteries a Day

Greg and Jennifer explain why they started praying all 15 mysteries every day, and how that simple change has brought more peace, surrender, and clarity to their marriage and work. --- Greg shares how St. Louis de Montfort's writings, especially The Love of Eternal Wisdom, encouraged him and Jennifer to avoid treating the Rosary like a checkbox. De Montfort's claim that there is no better way to establish the reign of Jesus Christ than by uniting vocal and mental prayer through the 15 mysteries is the key. Jennifer talks about hearing another married couple was doing this every day, and how that made the idea feel possible. That, combined with de Montfort's meditations changed the way they pray the Rosary. They also talk about what happened once they stopped trying to control the outcome of their prayers. Instead of using the Rosary to push one heavy intention, they began handing it all to Mary and trusting her to dispense the graces as she saw fit. Greg connects that surrender to a surprising stretch of fruitfulness in Rosary Army, from the new School of Mary launch to a possible pilgrimage in the footsteps of de Montfort. They also share how this month of praying together has brought greater peace, more unity in their marriage, and a stronger sense of what Rosary Army is really for: helping people pray the Rosary every day. RA #953: The Life of Michelle Duppong with Patti Maguire Armstrong

Greg and Jennifer talk with Patti Maguire Armstrong about Servant of God Michelle Duppong, an ordinary young woman whose life, death, simple invitations, deep faith, and surrender to God draw countless people to Jesus. Greg and Jennifer talk with Patti Maguire Armstrong about writing Michelle Duppong: Hope in the Depths of Suffering and why Michelle's story impacted them so much while narrating Patti's audiobook. We discuss the way Michelle invited people, loved them, and trusted Jesus to do the rest. Patti shares how Michelle's efforts to become a FOCUS missionary, getting turned down, getting little support to do her work, and how God still managed to convert countless others through Michelle's YES. They also talk about Michelle's temperament, her desire for marriage, her six years as a FOCUS missionary, and the ripple effect of her witness after her death. Greg points out a common problem for many Christians: most of us overthink evangelization when maybe the first step is just an invitation. RA #952: The Ultimate Prayer Group

Protestants ask why Catholics pray to Mary. Catholics may ask: when do you pray to Mary, and when do you pray to Jesus?  The answer for both is simpler than you may think. --- An email from from a men-o-paused man relating to last week's take on menopause, and how it impacts both sides in a marriage.  Then Greg and Jennifer tackle a question from School of Mary: when should you ask Mary for help, and when should you go straight to Jesus? They break down "to Jesus through Mary," the humility of approaching the King through the Queen Mother, and the communion of saints as a real "we're in this together" way of praying.  It ain't complicated, folks.  In fact, it's quite beautiful. This leads to a discussion of how significant life changes can bring real grief, and the difficulties of adjusting when you didn't see it coming. RA #950: This Is Why Everything Feels Difficult

We regularly make things more difficult than they need to be.  Carving out actual time for prayer, getting into exercise routines, and even making a simple grocery list all feel harder than they should. Better solutions are often right in front of us, and they start by discovering one simple thing.   --- Lately, everything feels like a major decision: dinner, errands, routines, even the things we want to do (like exercise and prayer). The problem isn't necessarily laziness or lack of discipline.  It's our tendency to make things more difficult than they need to be.  Usually, many tasks have a point of friction.  Figure out what that point is, and eliminate it, and tasks that were once drudgery can suddenly have new meaning.  In this episode, we wrestle with the idea of "friction points" and why a small fix often moves the ball faster than focusing on a bigger goal. RA #949: Ready for Marian Consecration? Start Here

If you've ever thought about Marian consecration, this is the perfect time to begin the 33-day preparation leading into Lent. --- February always sneaks up on us—and for Jennifer, it also brings that familiar "spiritual antsy" feeling that it's time to reconnect and renew her consecration to Jesus through Mary. We talk through what consecration is (and isn't), why de Montfort's 33-day preparation still matters, and how the slow, steady rhythm of prayer changes you—especially when you do it like it's your first time. Along the way, we share a practical lens that applies to Lent too: remove the friction points before you begin. Pick your Lenten reading, make your plan, and set yourself up for follow-through now, not later. Whether you're preparing for February 20 or just trying to live more intentionally, this is an invitation to go a little deeper—and to start sooner than you think. RA #948: Don't Leave the Vacuum Empty

As Lent approaches, Greg and Jennifer focus on three ways to have a stellar lead-up to Easter: pray the Rosary daily, fill the "vacuum" with something holy (like Greg's new book), and make or renew your yes to Jesus through Mary. Lent has a way of making us think we need to do more—more prayers, more sacrifices, more plans.  All good things. But in this episode, Greg and Jennifer talk about a simpler (and more lasting) approach: choosing one or two meaningful practices that actually make space for God, are protected from distractions, and can lead to genuine lifelong transformation. Greg reflects on the "vacuum" that forms when we give something up, and why it matters what we allow to fill it. Jennifer shares about a major transition in her life, one that requires real discernment about time, energy, and responsibility regarding family and Rosary Army. Her experience reflects the same question many of us face during Lent: what needs to be set aside so we can be more faithful where God is truly calling us? This Lent, consider choosing one or two simple practices that truly make space for God—perhaps praying the Rosary each day with more stillness, or renewing your consecration to Jesus through Mary. RA #947: Addicted to Knowing, Starved for Wisdom

We live surrounded by information, yet many of us feel more anxious and less peaceful than ever. In this episode, Greg and Jennifer discuss distraction, wisdom, and why the Rosary helps restore inner peace. --- We live in a world where we're expected to know everything—news, opinions, controversies, updates—often in real time. But knowing more doesn't always bring peace. In fact, it can leave us anxious, distracted, and spiritually exhausted. In this episode of the Rosary Army Catholic Podcast, Greg and Jennifer reflect on our addiction to information and the quiet cost it has on our interior life. Drawing from personal experience, Scripture, and the wisdom of the Church, they explore the difference between knowing things and truly knowing Christ. They also talk practically about prayer, especially the Rosary, as a way to retrain our attention, calm an overstimulated mind, and reconnect with Jesus through Mary. • Video Version of This Episode 🙏🏻 BUY GREG'S NEW BOOK - God Doesn't Hate Me After All: Discovering Louis de Montfort's Love of Eternal Wisdom: • From Sophia Institute Press • From Amazon • From Audible 🙏🏻 LINKS: • Introduction and First Two Chapters of Greg's Book - FREE DOWNLOAD! 🙏🏻 FREE STUFF: • Free All-Twine-Knotted Rosaries • School of Mary • Audio Rosaries 🙏🏻 ROSARY ARMY CATHOLIC PODCAST: • SPOTIFY • APPLE PODCASTS 🙏🏻 MORE FROM GREG AND JENNIFER/ROSARY ARMY: • Rosary Army Mobile App • Greg's serialized novel 🙏🏻 CONTACT & SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS: [email protected]  🙏🏻 TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Why we feel pressured to know everything 03:52 The anxiety of constant information 07:15 The Garden of Eden and the hunger for knowledge 10:56 Detaching from the internet and news 14:19 Does ignoring the news make us irresponsible? 16:48 Why peace is more attractive than outrage 20:06 Anxiety vs. Christ's gift of peace 23:29 Learning how to pray the Rosary well 27:21 Distraction, meditation, and slowing down prayer 33:04 Why wisdom—not information—changes lives

RA #946: The 2½ Minute Prayer for Wisdom

Want an amazingly simple prayer you could add to your day right now? In this episode, we share Solomon's Prayer for Wisdom (and time it: 2.5 minutes). We also talk about something St. Louis de Montfort wrote in The Love of Eternal Wisdom (which is included in Greg's new book), which is the difference between aiming for the outer rings of the target and learning to aim for the center: Jesus Christ. We're also asking for your prayers as we discern a possible Rosary Army retreat, tentatively scheduled for June 2026, at a beautiful retreat center east of Atlanta. Nothing is final yet—but we're taking actual steps, and we'd appreciate your prayers for clarity and wisdom. • Video Version of This Episode FREE DOWNLOAD: Introduction and First Two Chapters of Greg's Book! 🙏🏻 BUY GREG'S NEW BOOK - God Doesn't Hate Me After All: Discovering Louis de Montfort's Love of Eternal Wisdom: • From Sophia Institute Press • From Amazon • From Audible 🙏🏻 LINKS: • Video Version of This Episode • Heritage Retreat Center • Pray More Novenas 🙏🏻 FREE STUFF: • Free All-Twine-Knotted Rosaries • School of Mary • Audio Rosaries 🙏🏻 ROSARY ARMY CATHOLIC PODCAST: • SPOTIFY • APPLE PODCASTS 🙏🏻 MORE FROM GREG AND JENNIFER/ROSARY ARMY: • Rosary Army Mobile App • Greg's serialized novel 🙏🏻 CONTACT & SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS: [email protected]  🙏🏻 TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Intro + Marty the cat returns 01:35 Speaking at Legatus in Atlanta 03:20 Aiming for the center (De Montfort + knowing Jesus) 07:23 Why Q&A moments matter 10:19 Intimacy vs big crowds when speaking 11:24 Vulnerability in prayer 12:05 God's long game (Rosary Army story from 2003) 16:02 "How can we help?" – the real needs of Rosary Army 18:06 Why wisdom is the root virtue 21:26 The idea: 30-Day Prayer for Wisdom challenge 22:34 What the Impact Survey revealed 23:23 Helping people form daily prayer habits 26:52 The Prayer for Wisdom (2.5 minutes) 29:55 Request: Amazon reviews for the book 31:03 Discerning a Rosary Army retreat 34:07 Vision for the retreat (walking and praying together) 36:08 Capturing the retreat for those who can't attend 37:12 Gratitude + prayer requests 38:35 Final encouragement + closing

What are "open loops," and why do they steal our peace? We discuss starting the new year with tiny experiments instead of endless to-do lists, and share a hopeful first step toward a possible Rosary Army retreat (nearly 20 years in the making). Plus, Marty the cat crashes the studio, we ask for continued prayers for our son Ben in his mechanical engineering job search, and we remember to pray for souls who have died. RA #927: Wait…That's What Jesus Meant?

We've heard the Beatitudes countless times at Mass or when reading the Bible, but how much do we actually understand them? In this episode, we wrap up our two-part discussion on Matthew 5 and what the Beatitudes really mean—and honestly, some of these hit harder than we expected. 🔹 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness…" Are we actually yearning for the right things? 🔹 "Blessed are the merciful…" But what about mercy for ourselves? 🔹 "Blessed are the peacemakers…" Does this mean avoiding conflict, or something more? If the Beatitudes have ever felt confusing, intimidating, or just out of reach, this episode is for you. When we started looking at them through a different lens, everything changed. 🙏🏻 LINKS: • Video Version of This Episode 🙏🏻 FREE STUFF: • Free All-Twine-Knotted Rosaries • School of Mary • Audio Rosaries 🙏🏻 ROSARY ARMY CATHOLIC PODCAST: • SPOTIFY • APPLE PODCASTS 🙏🏻 MORE FROM GREG AND JENNIFER/ROSARY ARMY: • Rosary Army Mobile App • Greg's serialized novel 🙏🏻 CONTACT & SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS: [email protected] 🙏🏻 VIDEO CONTENTS 00:00 - Introduction: Jesus' Hardest Teachings  02:15 - Hunger & Thirst for Righteousness: More Than Morality 07:48 - What Being Merciful Really Means 12:32 - The True Meaning of "Pure in Heart" 18:10 - Peacemakers: Are You One? 22:55 - The Cost of Following Christ: Why Persecution is a Blessing 29:40 - Why This Teaching is So Misunderstood #rosary #catholic #podcast #catholicpodcast
