Stewardship & Longevity with special guest: Karen Thurgood
It is with great joy that I introduce one, Ms. Karen Thurgood. In both my life and the lives of countless others, Karen embodies the essence of a Titus 2 woman. Her influence within our community is truly remarkable, and her unwavering commitment reflects a remarkable longevity. Karen is a woman whose deeds resonate more profoundly than her words, and her spoken wisdom not only carries weight but also lifts the burdens of those around her. Devoted to serving our community, she diligently works to provide essential care services for the animals of Southwestern Oklahomans. Karen holds a deep belief that animals are precious gifts of creation, meant to be cherished. In her retirement, she channels her time and energy into being generative within the community, creating opportunities for others to follow suit. May we all lean and glean from generational wisdom that the generations before us are boldly willing to share and carry forward with us the kind and tenacious spirit of their work. Xoxo, Blessings & Glow, Brandy

Lit: A call to LIGHT it up!
Lit. Today's minisode is #2 in the series "Salty, Lit, & Spiritually Fit" in which we explore the significance of the title of the pod. Matt:5:14-16“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Goodbye to the days of hiding, Hello to luminous days. Let's Light it up! Stay Salty: Preserved, effective and full of flavor.
Welcome to the first minisode of a 3 part series where we unpack the significance of the pod title "Salty, Lit, and spiritually fit. Salt preserves, adds to, pulls out, and enhances the flavor and palatability of our lives, experiences, and testimony. Matth: 5: 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But how can the salt be made salty again if it loses its saltiness? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot." YOU are the SALT of the earth - not just your own corner of the world, but for all to see, experience, and benefit from. Soak in scripture, be saturated by the Holy Spirit, and bring your unique measure of flavor to the banquet of life. Doing so will add freshness and piquancy to others as you interact. Stay salty and let's light it up! xoxo, blessings & glow, Brandy

Go on, CHUCK 'em into the deep!
In today's episode, we embrace Peter's encouraging words to the elect exiles found in 1 Peter 5. Peter (Simon) along with his brother, Andrew were fishermen by trade. Casting nets and bringing in the fish of the Sea of Galilee was their livelihood. We can catch a glimpse at the brothers' encounter with Jesus as recorded in the synoptic gospels as they are called to leave their physical nets and vocation and trust Jesus as he promises to make them "fishers of men." His familiar language and the depth of meaning carried with him into his ministry. Peter, like all in the flesh (aside from Jesus), fell short of the glory of God, and his account serves as a beautiful illustration of the forgiveness, restoration, sanctification, and faith-filled work that can be accomplished for those in Christ. As we find him in 1 Peter 5 he is an elder, addressing the elders, he continues to address the youth, and give instruction to all concerning humbling ourselves & where we really anchor in today is on verse 7 "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." To cast is to take action, to really forcefully throw something out, in context to Peter as a fisherman he would have been familiar with really chucking heavy, saturated, frayed around the edges, likely tangled in places, nets with great force all while trying to keep his footing, balance and bearing whether from a boat or the shore- he was hoping to cast out an empty net and bring back much more! Whatever your anxious, empty, shakey, tender-bit places are today, go on, really CHUCK 'em into the deep, because God cares for you and that really is enough. We'll lean in a little more to being spiritually fit next week <3 Let's LIGHT IT UP.

Be fruitful and multiple: a command, an initation, gift, and a great responsibility
Way back when before sin came crashing into creation in the Garden of Eden we find God walking & talking with Adam & Eve. Recorded for us in Genesis 1: 2" And God blessed them. And God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." God later issues this same command to Noah and his sons and their sons. God is inviting us to continue in the work of creation, by populating the earth with children. Parenting is a beautiful way to impact generations for the Kingdom of God. However, not all are called to parenthood. In today's episode, we explore being fruitful and multiplying through the lens of parenthood, mentorship, discipleship, service, ministry, and the parable of the talents. We serve an UNLIMITED creator God, he is not stunted, his imagination has not run dry, he is not without inspiration, he has not surrendered hope, he is still in the business of MULTIPLYING. Y'all get on out there and be fruitful. Let's light it up!

Pivoting with Paul: Knit our hearts together. Feat. my dear friend from the valley Jenna
In a world that would have us believe that every choice we make or road we take is absolute, it's imperative that explore the option to PIVOT. Paul is writing to the church of Colossae, he himself, is bound in prison for his work for Christ. He tells the Colossian people that he has been agonizing for them, for the people of Laodicea, and for others (churches/people of Christ) who have not seen him. The Colossians are living for Jesus and standing strong in their faith, but he has spotted some potential problems. The problems may stem from their past, their known traditions, and reversions to ways of old. Paul is writing to help encourage and strengthen their faith, and in Col. 2:1-5 he is giving them beautiful imagery of knitting hearts together in encouragement and the strength and fullness found in living life together in Christ. Today, my dear friend Jenna & I speak on friendship, highs, lows, seasons of silence, being authentic, showing up, standing in the gap, and living for the Lord. Christ is ENOUGH. Our hope is that you may be encouraged in Christ, grounded in his word, and know how very loved you are.

Series: Seed, Weed, Feed, be fruitful and mutilply. Episode: the weed
In today's episode, we're anchored in Matthew 13, beginning in verse 24 and positioning our hearts to hear the parable of the weeds. We take the stance of the disciples and glean from the sower what he means by the parable of the weeds, as explained beginning in verse 36. Skandalon, in Greek, as explained by Bible study tools, means to trap, snare, a stumbling block; any impediment placed in the way and causing one to stumble or fall, and can be used to define: any person or thing by which one is (entrapped) drawn into error or sin. We set our hearts to understanding Jesus as the sower, the Kingdom of God as the seed, and the field as the world. May we anticipate the harvest! "Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. (Matthew 13:43)

Series: Seed, Weed, and Feed: be fruitful and multiply. Episode: the seed and sower
Today we explore the parable of the sower found in the three synoptic gospels: Matthew, Mark & Luke. We are reading from Matth. 13 (ESV). We dig into Jesus, the Son of Man as the sower, the seed as the Word, and how Jesus lovingly and graciously sowed the seed of the gospel for the furtherance of the Kingdom of God on earth as in heaven. 4 types of soil are identified in the parables: the path, rocky ground, thorny soil, and good soil. Our human hearts can be so fickle, just as the believers gathered to welcome Jesus as their King " Hosanna! Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" as recorded in Matt. 21:9 we, too, can find ourselves rejecting the living, active word of God and all it's sanctifying, edifying, empowering, enlightening goodness because it doesn't fit well with our agenda, aspirations, or attitudes of the day. God is gracious and knows this about the believers of the Old Testament, the Israelites, and tells them, "And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26 This is TRUE of us today. Jesus is in the business of healing the hurts & hangups and working the soil of our tender hearts- ask, and you will receive.

Episode 5: Biblical Communication with Special Guest: Virginia Green
Hello Sweet Friends, Come on in and celebrate with us! TODAY is one of the books. We had the best and most blessed time recording the inaugural guest interview, with guest speaker Virginia Green. Virginia is a beautiful lady of the Lord who is faithfully engaged in her roles as wife to Chelse, Air Force Spouse, Mother, a dedicated member of her church family, and a Personal & Work Life Consultant. Today she shares Biblical truth with us centered on communication, here on Salty, Lit, and Spiritually Fit. Scriptures shared include James 1:19-21; and Proverbs 16:24.

Episode 3: FULL SEND
This episode is a rerecording of the original Episode 3: Full Send. Through prayer, intentional time in the word, fellowship with other believers, and eyes that seek to see the goodness of God in the land of the living are actualized the messages, themes, thoughts I bring forward to this platform and to you my sweet friends. God's word is NOT timid. Weak. Diluted. Or meant to be substituted. His power is on FULL SEND. In today's episode I'll unpack a precious gift my not-so-little guy gifted me and how the Lord rushed me with Acts 1:8 on replay. The enemy may try to silence, corrupt, kill, steal and destroy, but Jesus made a WAY and he gave us a helper and his power is on full send. Will you receive it?

Episode 2 (take 2..or 10): Stumbling & Crumbling, to Humbling & Helped - Strength Rises!
Episode 2 was a doozy, a real deal stumble, crumble, defeated, kneeling down, humbling experience that led me right to our Savior and closer to his heart for you and for me. We explore Proverbs 24:10, "If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small." and how that is so ...obvious!.. but take that stance that it gives way to a beautiful bed for me, for you, and for all who will then heed Isaiah 41:10 "fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” If you, like, me, have failed under pressure, found our strength to be small..haven't we all?! Come on in; let's set this thing right, and bring the light! To my dear friend, bold and loving enough to give me insight and correction and invite me into reflection, thank you. Thank you for helping me come onto this platform, to be authentically me, and draw nearer to our Savior and each other. I love you Sis!

Even the brightest light
It is an exciting privilege to be with you on this platform. Let's plug into episode 2 and unpack Math. 5:14 in further depth, back up a little to metaphorical speech and get a little salty. This interactive episode engages imaginative thinking on the symbolic speech of lighting the world and the infinite light source. Thankfully none of us are to take on the dimming darkness of our world in our right; there was one who came before us, Jesus. Let's look at John 8:10 as a template for our image-bearing, a source of infinite power that supplies our tangled at times bulb, and light it up!
