Although they formed in Boston, Massachusetts, none of their members are from there. Three members, Steven Tallarico (Tyler), Joe Perry, and Tom Hamilton, met in Sunapee, New Hampshire, in the late 1960s but had not yet formed a band. Tyler was from Yonkers, New York, Perry from Hopedale, Massachusetts, and Hamilton from New London, New Hampshire. In 1970, the three decided to form a band and moved to Boston, Massachusetts. It's deeply meaningful, telling and depicting the end of a relationship and the painful process of moving on, but also about the hope of finding new love in the future and finding the strength to move on. This song has become a frequent listen for many people experiencing sadness because some of the lyrics convey the hope of returning to the past with the same person. Although the lyrics convey that, we must rise to break out of that rut. Sometimes remembering the past brings us peace, but it hurts because we can't have it anymore.
