June 18, 2026 | Moments Almanac | Held
Share Your ThoughtsScattered Moments — Moments Almanac | June 18Held UpJune 18 carries two stories four centuries apart — and they say the same thing. In 1546, a twenty-five-year-old woman named Anne Askew was convicted of heresy in London for believing what most Baptists believe about communion. She was racked in the Tower of London, carried to the stake on a chair because she could no longer walk, and burned. She never recanted. She never gave up a name. And from her prison cell she wrote words of pure worship — thou art my delight. In 1956, Dawson Trotman — founder of The Navigators — drowned at Schroon Lake, New York, while holding a young woman above water until the boat came back. Billy Graham preached his funeral and said, "Daws died the same way he lived — holding others up."Two lives. Two deaths. One posture.Today's scripture: John 15:13Take heart. Notice the scattered moments. Share the grace.

Wrecks... Like Us.
Share Your ThoughtsWrecks WelcomeThere was a man in our accountability group years ago who made the rest of us look pretty good—or so I thought. For about three seconds. In this episode of Scattered Moments, Matt reflects on the difference between the wreckage everyone can see and the hidden struggles we work so hard to conceal. From public failures to private battles with pride, resentment, greed, and ambition, we discover that we're all standing on the same ground before God.Drawing from Psalm 130, this episode offers a gentle reminder that our hope is not found in our ability to keep it all together, but in the mercy of a Father who already knows our deepest secrets and still welcomes us with open arms."If You, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness..." — Psalm 130:3-4If you've ever felt like a work in progress—or maybe even a wreck in progress—this episode is for you.Because at the foot of the cross, every sign reads the same:Wrecks Welcome.

Share Your Thoughts🦋 🌊 June 16 – The Storm and the ButterflyWhat does a butterfly have to do with the resurrection? And what can a storm-tossed ocean teach us about compassion? In this episode of Moments Almanac, we remember two remarkable stories connected to June 16.First, we meet Joseph Butler, the eighteenth-century bishop and apologist who challenged skeptics by pointing to the natural world itself. Looking at the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly, Butler saw evidence that God had written the pattern of resurrection into creation. Then we journey to Victorian England, where William and Catherine Booth began a partnership that would eventually become The Salvation Army. Inspired by a vision of a drowning world, they devoted their lives to rescuing the forgotten, feeding the hungry, and sharing the hope of Christ. From the wings of a butterfly to the waves of a stormy sea, this episode explores faith, resurrection, and the call to step into the needs of a hurting world."Perhaps that's the invitation for us today: to see signs of God's grace all around us—and then to carry that grace to someone who needs it."Welcome to Moments Almanac, a time to remember the people, places, and events that leave fingerprints on the soul.

The Bible: Guilty of Disturbing the Peace
Share Your ThoughtsIn this episode of Scattered Moments, Matt reflects on the unsettling beauty of Scripture—a Book that comforts us while simultaneously confronting us. The Bible does not flatter humanity. It leaves the failures in. No deleted scenes. No polished heroes. Just the raw story of God meeting broken people with relentless grace. This reflection explores the danger of reducing God’s Word to a theological weapon, a political mascot, or a religious artifact while missing the living Christ at its center. The Bible is not safe. It disturbs false peace, confronts dead religion, and calls ordinary people into radical surrender, forgiveness, courage, and hope.Featuring reflections on:• The honesty of Scripture• Why the Bible still confronts modern religion• Charles Spurgeon’s famous “lion” metaphor• The difference between defending Scripture and being transformed by it• The dangerous beauty of grace“The Word of God is living and active...” — Hebrews 4:12Take care, Notice the Scattered moments and share the grace.

What is it?
Share Your ThoughtsA Scattered Moment about uncertainty, daily grace, and learning to trust God one day at a time.In this episode, we begin in a corporate meeting where an accidental PowerPoint slide sends me into a week of anxious “what ifs.” From there, we journey into the wilderness with the Israelites who woke up every morning asking the very same question:“What is it?”Manna — literally meaning “What is it?” — was God’s daily provision. Not predictable. Not fully explainable. Just enough for today.Sometimes life feels exactly like that.A season we cannot define.A future we cannot predict.A wilderness where God provides enough light for the next step but not always the entire map. With a little humor, honest reflection, and the story of manna in the wilderness, this episode is an invitation to trust God even when life feels unfamiliar.Featuring:• Exodus 16:15• Reflections on uncertainty and transition• The humor and humanity of “manna”• A quote from Corrie ten Boom• A reminder that God’s provision often comes one day at a time“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”— Corrie ten BoomTake care, Notice the Scattered moments and share the grace.

My Mom
Share Your ThoughtsMother’s Day is a time of celebration. But for many people… it is also complicated. For some, it is joyful and loud—filled with phone calls, flowers, family lunches, and handwritten cards. For others, it arrives quietly. Some long to be mothers but never had the opportunity. Some carry the ache of broken relationships. Some think of mothers who are no longer here. Some remember kindness.Others remember wounds. And yet, when I think about motherhood, I also think about something larger than biology alone.I think about the women God has used to shape this world through nurture… wisdom… sacrifice… protection… courage… and grace.Women who fed us.Women who corrected us.Women who prayed for us.Women who taught us right from wrong.Women who carried burdens no one else could see. Some were mothers by birth.Others became mothers through love. And this year, as Mother’s Day approaches, I’ve found myself thinking about my own mom…

I love you. (I must be going)
Share Your ThoughtsThere comes a moment when following Jesus means leaving something behind. In Gospel of Luke 9, three voices rise with good intentions—each one sincere, each one hesitant. And in each response, Jesus reveals a deeper truth: faith is not just about what we believe… it’s about whether we are willing to move forward when the moment comes. What do you do when the future feels uncertain? When grief lingers on the horizon? When the past keeps calling you back?Sometimes the most faithful words you can say are the simplest:“I love you. I must be going.”Take care, Notice the Scattered moments and share the grace.
