It’s easy to believe we’re losing the battle. The darkness in the world feels overwhelming, and we can begin to think the Gospel is just a nice idea, no longer powerful enough to change hearts. We might start looking for other solutions—political, cultural, personal fixes—forgetting that God is the Producer, Director, and Star of this entire story. He is not absent. He is not losing control. Psalm 36 reminds us that the love of God, revealed in the person of Christ, is not only real—it is triumphant.

We pick up this week with the judgment passed down to the woman for her sin. Just as with the serpent, this judgment is specific to her and appropriate for her role in original sin. 

Marriage is a sacred institution as old as the first man and woman. It is also a picture of Christ and His Church. As such, marriage should be defended both because it is ordained by God and also because it is a gospel picture of Christ and His Church.
