As I shared this week, my heart was drawn to the way God meets us in both our striving and our waiting—how faith is lived out not only through bold action but also through quiet presence. Reflecting on Archbishop Hosam’s plea for peace and the stories of Nicodemus and the friends who lowered the paralyzed man to Jesus, I invited us to consider what it means to be bridge builders in a divided world. Sometimes our call is to dig through the roof, to act courageously for the sake of love; other times it is to sit beside those in darkness and simply remain. In both, Christ is present. My hope was to remind us that even amid uncertainty and conflict, our truest witness is found in steadfast love, patient compassion, and the courage to stay connected to one another and to God.

In this sermon, I explored how humanity often struggles with selfishness and depletion, yet through Christ’s grace, we are offered renewal and hope. Reflecting on the “Tragedy of the Commons” and examples of environmental restoration, I invited the congregation to see Lent as a time to reclaim our calling as cooperative, grace-filled agents of transformation. By imitating Christ, we can confront despair with active faith, nurturing justice, peace, and restoration in our communities and the world around us.
