Spiritual Warfare: The Shoes of Peace

In this episode of the Spiritual Warfare series, “The Shoes of Peace,” we explore what it means to have our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Spiritual warfare often brings fear, confusion, conflict, anxiety, and uncertainty, but Jesus offers a peace that keeps us grounded when everything around us feels unstable. The shoes of peace do not promise that our path will always be easy or free from trouble. They prepare us to stand firm when pressure comes, move forward without being controlled by fear, and follow God wherever He leads. When our confidence is rooted in the gospel—the good news of what Jesus has done for us—we can face difficult circumstances knowing that we are forgiven, reconciled to God, and never walking alone. We’ll also discuss how God’s peace guards our hearts and minds, helps us respond to conflict with wisdom, and keeps the enemy from knocking us off balance. This piece of armor is not only about experiencing peace ourselves; it also makes us ready to carry the hope of Jesus into a fearful and divided world. Join us as we learn how to stand steady, walk confidently, and remain prepared to share the gospel of peace wherever God sends us. Watching the signs. Exposing the shadows.

    Rapture Ready: Be Ready

In the final episode of the Rapture Ready series, titled “Be Ready,” Bud brings everything together with one urgent question: If Jesus returned today, would you truly be ready? Being ready isn’t about setting dates, living in fear, or becoming consumed by every headline. It means genuinely knowing Jesus Christ, trusting in what He accomplished on the cross, turning away from sin, forgiving others, sharing the Gospel, teaching your children, knowing God’s Word, and living faithfully every day. Readiness is not something we save for a future crisis—it should shape how we live right now. Bud explains what Jesus meant when He told His followers to watch, stay awake, and keep their lamps filled with oil. He also challenges believers to examine their hearts, get their homes in spiritual order, and stop putting off the things God has already called them to do. We may not know the day or the hour of Christ’s return, but we can recognize the season and choose to live prepared. This closing episode is not meant to create panic—it is a final call to repentance, faithfulness, courage, and hope. Jesus is coming again. The question is not whether we have figured out the exact date. The question is whether He will find us faithful when He comes. Watch the signs. Expose the shadows. And above all—be ready.

    Rapture Ready: Know Your Bible

In this episode of the Rapture Ready series, titled “Know Your Bible,” Bud explains why knowing God’s Word is essential for every believer who wants to remain spiritually prepared. The Bible is more than a book we occasionally read—it is the foundation of our faith, the standard by which we test every message, and the truth that guides us through a world filled with confusion, compromise, false teaching, and spiritual deception. Bud discusses the importance of personally reading, studying, memorizing, and applying Scripture instead of relying entirely on pastors, podcasts, social media, or other people to tell us what God says. When we truly know the Bible, we become better equipped to recognize deception, resist temptation, answer difficult questions, share the Gospel, and remain faithful when our beliefs are challenged. No one knows the day or hour of Christ’s return, but believers are called to watch, remain alert, and live prepared. Knowing your Bible helps keep your faith grounded, your spiritual discernment sharp, and your lamp filled with oil. The time to build a strong foundation in God’s Word is not when trouble begins—it is right now. Watch the signs. Expose the shadows. Stay ready.

    Rapture Ready: Teach Your Children

In this episode of the Rapture Ready series, “Teach Your Children,” Bud discusses the God-given responsibility parents and guardians have to prepare their children spiritually and biblically for the world they are growing up in—and ultimately for the return of Jesus Christ. The world is constantly competing for their hearts and minds, so we cannot leave their spiritual foundation to chance. Bud shares practical ways to make faith part of everyday family life through reading Scripture, praying together, answering difficult questions honestly, teaching children to recognize deception, and showing them what it looks like to genuinely follow Jesus. Preparing children means more than simply taking them to church; it means helping them understand the Gospel, develop their own relationship with Christ, and learn how to stand firmly on God’s Word when their faith is challenged. This episode is not about creating fear or predicting a date for Christ’s return. It is about raising children who know where their hope comes from, understand what they believe, and are ready to remain faithful no matter what happens. Our children need more than temporary success—they need an eternal foundation. Signs & Shadows — Watching the signs. Exposing the shadows.

Rapture Ready: Stop Playing With Sin

In this episode of the Rapture Ready series, titled “Stop Playing With Sin,” Bud delivers a direct and timely message about the dangers of allowing sin to remain unchecked in our lives. Sin may begin with a seemingly small compromise, a secret habit, or an excuse we keep making—but over time, it can harden the heart, weaken our relationship with God, damage our families, and affect the people around us. Bud explains why Christians cannot treat casually what Jesus gave His life to save us from. This message is not about claiming perfection or living under constant condemnation. It is about recognizing the seriousness of sin, responding to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, and understanding the difference between struggling against sin and willingly making peace with it. With biblical truth and practical examples, this episode encourages believers to examine their lives honestly, bring hidden struggles into the light, repent without delay, and remove the habits, influences, and temptations that keep pulling them away from God. Jesus offers forgiveness, freedom, and the strength to live differently—but we must be willing to surrender every part of our lives to Him. The return of Christ is not something believers should fear, but it is something we must be prepared for. Now is the time to stop making excuses, stop feeding the flesh, and start living with a heart that is fully committed to Jesus. Watch the signs. Expose the shadows. Stay Rapture Ready.

Rapture Ready: Tell Someone About Jesus

In this episode of the Rapture Ready series, titled “Tell Someone About Jesus,” Bud teaches why sharing our faith is not only the responsibility of pastors, missionaries, or evangelists—it is a calling given to every follower of Jesus Christ. You do not need a microphone, a ministry title, or all the answers to tell someone about Jesus. You can share your personal testimony, explain the simple truth of the Gospel, show the love of Christ through your actions, and be ready when God opens the door for a conversation. Bud offers practical encouragement for overcoming fear, recognizing everyday opportunities, and speaking the truth with both courage and compassion. Someone in your family, workplace, school, or community may be searching for the hope you have already found. Tomorrow is not promised, and the return of Christ could happen at any time. We are not setting dates—we are watching, praying, keeping our lamps filled with oil, and using the time God has given us to reach the lost. The question is not whether you know enough to begin. The question is: Who has God placed in your life who needs to hear about Jesus? Stay alert. Stay grounded in the Word. Keep watching the signs—and exposing the shadows.

Rapture Ready: Get Your House In Order

If you suddenly were not here tomorrow, would your family know what to do—and would your home reflect the faith you claimed to live? In this episode of the Rapture Ready series, titled “Get Your House in Order,” Bud discusses what it means to establish biblical order in your home. Being ready for the return of Christ is not only about watching world events. It is also about examining how we lead our families, manage our responsibilities, handle our finances, and honor God in our everyday lives. Bud offers practical, biblical guidance for making Christ the foundation of your household. That includes praying together, studying Scripture, teaching your children the truth, resolving conflicts, removing sinful influences, managing money responsibly, and making sure your family understands the Gospel. Biblical order does not mean demanding control—it means serving, leading by example, accepting responsibility, and creating a home where God is honored. This episode also explores practical ways to prepare in case you were suddenly no longer here. Would your loved ones know where to find important documents, account information, insurance policies, financial instructions, emergency contacts, and final wishes? Have you left clear guidance for your children and family? Most importantly, have you left behind a Bible, a written testimony, and a clear explanation of the Gospel for anyone searching for answers? Preparing these things is not living in fear or attempting to predict a date. It is an act of love, wisdom, and faithful stewardship. None of us is promised tomorrow, and unfinished responsibilities can become a heavy burden for those we leave behind. Jesus is coming again. Now is the time to bring your spiritual life, your relationships, your responsibilities, and your household into order. Rapture Ready: Forgive People Now.

Is there someone you still refuse to forgive? Are you holding onto anger, bitterness, or the desire to make them pay for what they did? In this episode of the Rapture Ready series, titled “Forgive People Now,” Bud explores what the Bible teaches about forgiving others and why forgiveness is so important in the life of every believer. Jesus did not present forgiveness as an optional part of Christianity. Those who have received God’s mercy are called to extend mercy to others—even when the hurt is deep and the person responsible has never apologized. Bud explains what biblical forgiveness truly means and what it does not mean. Forgiving someone does not excuse their actions, erase necessary consequences, require immediate trust, or force you to remain in an abusive or dangerous situation. Forgiveness means releasing personal vengeance, surrendering the offense to God, and refusing to allow bitterness to control your heart. This episode also examines the connection between God’s forgiveness of us and our willingness to forgive others. Through Christ, we have been forgiven of a debt we could never repay. Because of that grace, believers are called to forgive—not because the offender deserves it, but because Christ has forgiven us. Forgiveness may be painful, and healing may take time, but carrying bitterness will only keep you chained to the wound. Jesus is coming again, and now is the time to release old grudges, seek peace where possible, and make sure your heart is ready to meet Him. Rapture Ready: Are You Actually Saved?

Are you actually saved—or have you simply learned how to look and sound like a Christian? In the opening episode of the **Rapture Ready** series, Bud takes an honest, Bible-centered look at what it truly means to be saved. Salvation is more than attending church, being baptized, repeating a prayer, growing up in a Christian home, or calling yourself a believer. It is a genuine work of God that begins when we recognize our sin, repent, and place our faith completely in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Bud examines the difference between knowing about Jesus and actually knowing Him. He explains why good works cannot earn salvation, what genuine repentance looks like, and how saving faith produces a changed heart and a transformed life. This episode also addresses assurance of salvation and the importance of examining ourselves—not to live in constant fear, but to make certain that our confidence rests in Christ rather than religion, emotions, or past experiences. Jesus warned that not everyone who calls Him “Lord” truly belongs to Him. That makes this one of the most important questions any person can answer: **Am I actually saved?** This message is not intended to condemn or frighten people. It is a loving and urgent invitation to come honestly before God, understand the true Gospel, and make sure your relationship with Jesus is real. Christ is coming again, and now is the time to repent, believe, and live ready to meet Him. **Rapture Ready: Living Ready for the Return of Christ** **Signs & Shadows — Watching the signs. Spiritual Warfare: The Breastplate of Righteousness

In this episode of the Spiritual Warfare series, Brandon Butler teaches about the Breastplate of Righteousness—the piece of God’s armor designed to protect the heart and other vital areas of our spiritual lives. The enemy often attacks through guilt, shame, temptation, condemnation, and accusations about our past. If he can wound the heart, he can affect our thoughts, emotions, decisions, and relationship with God. But believers are not called to face those attacks unprotected. Brandon explains the difference between depending on our own goodness and standing securely in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. He also explores how living in obedience to God helps guard our hearts from compromise and keeps the enemy from gaining a foothold in our lives. What does it really mean to put on the Breastplate of Righteousness? How can we protect our hearts when accusations, temptations, and spiritual attacks come? And what happens when we leave this crucial piece of armor unused? The enemy will aim for your heart—but through Jesus Christ, God has given you the armor needed to stand firm. Watching the signs. Spiritual Warfare: Belt of Truth

In this episode of our Spiritual Warfare series, we examine the first piece of the armor of God—the Belt of Truth. Paul begins with truth because it is the foundation that holds the rest of our spiritual armor together. Satan is the father of lies, and his attacks often come through deception, false teaching, fear, shame, accusations, and confusion. He wants us to question God’s character, doubt His promises, and believe that our feelings determine what is true. We discuss how God’s Word exposes the enemy’s lies, how Jesus used Scripture when facing temptation, and why knowing the Bible is essential in spiritual warfare. But wearing the Belt of Truth means more than memorizing verses—it means living honestly, rejecting hypocrisy, and allowing Scripture to correct how we think and live. How can we recognize the enemy’s lies? What should we do when our feelings disagree with God’s Word? Join us as we learn how to buckle on the Belt of Truth and stand firm on the unchanging truth of God. Signs & Shadows Watching the signs. Exposing the shadows.

Hayfield Miracle: Part 3. The Mitchell Kiser Story

In Hayfield Miracle: Part 3, Mitchell Kiser returns to share the powerful conclusion of his story. Although the tragedy in the hayfield was over, the consequences of that day continued to affect every part of his life. Mitchell opens up about the difficult health problems that followed, the emotional weight he carried, and the intense spiritual battles he faced behind the scenes. As his strength, faith, and hope were tested, Mitchell found himself fighting battles that others could not always see or understand. He shares the moments when fear and uncertainty threatened to overwhelm him, the questions he wrestled with, and the ways God continued to reveal His presence throughout the struggle. Through every setback, Mitchell’s positive attitude helped keep him moving forward. Rather than allowing his circumstances to define him, he chose to face each new challenge with determination, hope, and faith. His outlook became an important part of his journey, reminding us that even when we cannot control what happens to us, we can choose how we respond. This final chapter is more than the conclusion of a tragic story—it is a testimony of survival, perseverance, healing, and God’s faithfulness. Join us as Mitchell reflects on how the tragedy changed his life, what God taught him through the pain, and how faith and a positive attitude helped him continue moving forward when giving up would have been easier.

    Spiritual Warfare: The 3 Heavens

Before you can fight a battle, you need to understand where that battle is taking place. In this episode of the Signs and Shadows Podcast Spiritual Warfare Series, Brandon Butler hosts a powerful teaching titled “Know Your Battlefield: The Three Heavens.” The Bible describes more than one heaven. There is the first heaven—the atmosphere surrounding the earth. There is the second heaven—the realm of the sun, moon, stars, and heavenly bodies. And there is the third heaven—the dwelling place of God. But Scripture also reveals that spiritual forces operate in the heavenly realms. What does that mean for spiritual warfare? Where did Satan present himself before God in the Book of Job? What did Daniel’s delayed answer to prayer reveal about spiritual conflict? And what did Paul mean when he said that our struggle is against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms? Brandon walks through the Scriptures to explain each of the three heavens, how they are different, and why understanding them matters to every believer. You cannot see the entire battlefield with your natural eyes—but that does not mean the battle is not real. This episode will help you understand where spiritual warfare takes place, how prayer affects the unseen realm, and why Christians should approach these subjects with biblical truth rather than fear or speculation. Spiritual Warfare: Knowing Your Enemy

In this episode of the Signs and Shadows Podcast, hosts Bud Shropshire and Brandon Butler continue the Spiritual Warfare Series with “Knowing Your Enemy.” What does the Bible actually reveal about Satan, demons, fallen angels, and the powers of darkness? How does the enemy deceive, tempt, accuse, divide, and use fear against believers? More importantly, how can Christians recognize his strategies without becoming obsessed with darkness or living in fear? This episode examines the origin, nature, limitations, and tactics of our spiritual enemy while emphasizing an essential truth: Satan is not equal to God, and Jesus Christ has already secured the victory. We are not called to ignore the enemy, underestimate him, or fear him. We are called to remain watchful, test everything against Scripture, put on the whole armor of God, resist the devil, and stand firmly in the authority of Jesus Christ. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” — 1 Peter 5:8  Join us as we expose the enemy’s tactics, separate biblical truth from popular mythology, and learn how to fight from Christ’s victory rather than for it. The Haunting of Purgatory Mountain

Deep within the Uwharrie Mountains, on the wooded trails surrounding the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, local legend says something is still hunting. In this episode of the Signs and Shadows Podcast, Bud Shropshire and Brandon Butler investigate The Haunting of Purgatory Mountain and the terrifying legend of “The Hunter.” During the Civil War, Peter Garner was a Confederate conscript assigned to guide soldiers through Randolph County in search of deserters hiding in the mountains. Garner became so successful and so feared that people began calling him “The Hunter.” After he was violently killed in 1864, stories began spreading about a large, dark figure wandering Purgatory Mountain before dawn, as though The Hunter were still searching for his next prisoner. Today, the Purgatory Mountain Trails wind for nearly five miles through the forests, creeks, and rocky terrain surrounding the North Carolina Zoo. But some believe these are more than ordinary hiking trails. Visitors and local storytellers have described strange figures, unexplained sounds, and the unsettling feeling that something is following them through the woods. Who was Peter Garner? What really happened to him? Is his ghost haunting the trails near the NC Zoo—or could something else be using his story and appearance? Join us as we separate documented Civil War history from Randolph County folklore, explore the alleged haunting of the Purgatory Mountain Trails, and examine what the Bible teaches about ghosts, familiar spirits, and the unseen realm. Watchmen on the Wall: Deceptive Marketing

In this episode of Watchmen on the Wall, a special series from the Signs & Shadows Christian Podcast, Bud Shropshire and Brandon Butler examine the marketing strategies behind several popular products and ask whether consumers are being sold more than they realize. From Liquid Death’s dark and rebellious branding to The Honey Pot’s controversial advertising and the spiritual messages printed across Dr. Bronner’s products, we examine how companies use shock, symbolism, identity, and spiritual language to influence what people buy—and sometimes what they believe. Is it all harmless marketing, or are consumers being sold more than just water, soap, and personal-care products? We’ll compare these messages with Scripture and discuss why Christians must look beyond the label, test everything, and guard what influences their hearts and homes. DHR Took My Son… That’s When God Found Me.

Addiction is often seen as a moral failure. A weakness. A lack of discipline. But what if the real battle isn’t chemical… but spiritual? Kimberly was raised in a Christian home and genuinely saved at 13 years old. But after losing her mother in a traumatic medical incident, grief turned into silence — and silence turned into pills. Nearly two years of addiction followed, eventually leading to the state taking custody of her son. That morning, she took her last pill and cried out to God. Fourteen years clean from pills. Two DUIs later after a relapse into alcohol. Jail time. Restoration. Custody regained. Calling awakened. But here’s the deeper question: When someone walks away from God… does He walk away from them? Now 40 years old, Kimberly has stepped away from seven years of truck driving to pursue ministry and launch a future faith-based recovery facility for women, men, and troubled teens. Is redemption real? Can relapse be reversed? And what does it take to rebuild what addiction tried to destroy?
